I can remember a time when anime wasn't a huge deal. Now days it is everywhere! I don't personally watch it or get into it, but I know a lot of people do. So do you like it? Do you hate it? Do you just tolerate it for your kids or another reason? Or, have you never even heard of it?

There are some that I have watched and liked and there are ones that are just tolerated. My hubby is a big anime fan he loves watching them and owns alot of anime movies. There are 2 that I acually really like one is called Appleseed that is definlitly a good movie and the other is Final Fantasy something it is the newer one and it has something to do with the sony games. But as far as the anime cartoons there are a couple that the kids like that I cant stand Nurato (sp) is one of them. [tina12679]

I watch Naruto and Dragonball Z, but that is really all I get into. I only started watching them because of my husband. He got me hooked on those shows. I know several people who are really into Anime, but I'm just not there yet and I probably won't be. Of course, I also said I wouldn't get into the ones I do watch.:P [Flight84]
I have gotten hooked on things I said I'd never watch too. When someone asks you to watch it with them, it is easy to get hooked since you want to spend time with them as well. : ) [AmbiePam]
The first anime I saw was back in the late 60s. It was called AstroBoy. It was a different kind of cartoon and I watched it quite a bit. Then it disappeared. Now I see Anime and it reminds me of AstroBoy. I am not into Anime. I don't hate it but I don't read or watch it either. My kids are adults and they have not expressed any interest in it either. i guess it depends on the person on how they see anime. but for me, i like watching animes of my choice. there are some anime that i dont really like to watch, and there are couple of animes i loved watching. [tantal25]

I love to hire movies via Lovefilm because it's so much easier and cheaper that way (I watch about 10 movies a week I think hahaha). Whilst I am not completely bothered the genre of movie, cartoons need to be funny to get me to watch them these days. I love Romantic Comedies, and Action/Thriller movies too. But my favourite genre is usually comedy or fantasy movies (but Harry Potter is just ok for me before you say! I am a Tolkien fan straight down the line). I must own about 1,000 DVDs (including my Friends collection and other similar TV series' hehe). But a movie for me doesn't have to be perfect, it just has to have something original about it. That's why I am not fussed for the likes of Harry Potter. I like to see great acting and great plot lines. Twists and turns make it more interesting of course, but the ending and start are essentially the bones of the movie! Without a good one of each, you don't enjoy are get that sense of fulfillment in your tummy!! Love to hear your favourites and essential viewing needs! haha. [Rittings]
I guess hate it but then I have never even given it a chance, because I have never watched it. My son use to be really big on watching these movies. I only like the real life stuff. when i was studying, i quite like to watch anime. i could barely off my computer because i was too busy downloading animes so that i could watch them. now that i'm working, i don't have much time to watch animes, even if it's showing on tv..and i'm interested in other tv series as well, so..but i think animes are pretty cool ^___^ [kevsgirlalways]

Hello Ambie, how are you now? I'm just going through my email notifications and saw yours. This is actually my 2nd post and it's almost 1 AM already. I'm not really into this anime thingy. I don't even remember when it started and who created the name "anime." I only noticed that anime is getting more and more popular that sent the younger generations wild with it. I neither hate nor love it. It's a good thing my girls are not into those stuff. I can't really understand what is it about the anime that fascinated the younger people nowadays, lol! [charms88]

It is a type of cartoon that came over from Asia. It can be movies, or TV. It took me a while to figure out what it was. I wish I could give you an example, but I just don't watch it. I see it on TV, but since I don't care for it, I never stopped to look at the name of the show. It almost looks like comics come to life. [AmbiePam]
I don't like animes in general, but there's one I love more than anything: Dragon Ball Z. See the "dbz" in the end of my username? Can you guess where it came from? :) I don't even know why I like it, since I don't like any other anime, not even the ones which are kind of similar to Dragon Ball. Who knows? ;) [laridbz]

I know many people who love anime and just go over the top with it but for myself I don't like it one bit. The characters all look the same with just different hair or clothes. The eyes are over big and they just seem 2 deminsional to me. I have seen some that are decent but most just seemed to be massed produced copies that are thrown together. [emeraldisle]

Anime is awsome its a part of everyday life for me I was brought up on Old anime such as fist of the north star, Guyver, Crying freeman, the 80s-90s anime but when i look at todays anime some of it is really good some can loose abit depth in story if the anime is like 200 odd eps but some are still worth the watching my fav animes Naruto bleach Trinity blood Hellsing devilman [katsumoto420]

That really depends on what kind of anime it was. There are animes that we would surely love. Most especially the anime movies. There are some violent anime and these are what I do not like. I wont even tolerate them nor let my kids watch those types of anime. [hersmart4ever]

Hi,AmbiePam! Most memory of my childhood were related to anime,if there was no anime in my life,I couldn't imagine how tiresome my life would be! The first cartoon I had watched was "Tom and Jerry".This is an American cartoon. Anime is a word from Japanese,in Japanese,this word means "cartoon".The first Japanese anime I had watched was "Sailor Moon".When I was a primary school student,this anime work was very popular between students.My friends and I made effort to collect everything related to this anime,such as pencil-box,cards,notebooks.Then another anime appeared in my life,that was "Slam Dunk".Partly to say,this work was a well-known anime in China,I have never encountered someone who didn't know this work. Later,I found that I became an Otaku.Otaku is another Japanese word,it means "fans" in English.But this word is more seriously than fans.It often means somebody who are drunk in anime.^_^ Finally,I just want to say:life with anime is wonderful! Gosh, I haven't watch Anime in so long... I miss it, but I hear anime isn't really the same anymore. Even if it were, I really don't have the time to watch it. And Ambie, if you ever want to get into it make sure you try watching the original voice overs too (the ones with subtitles) because some people don't like the crappy english dubs (I happen to be one of them) so no Cartoon Network for me (unless its american made like Futurama) [SuckerUpper]

My nephew is into it but thankfully nobody else in my family is. I tolerate it when he is visiting otherwise we don't watch it. Not really interested in it. I just don't truly know how a kid can get into that stuff. [mtdewgurl74]
