Are You "adult" Enough To Admit....

That you like watching movies that are designated for children? Now I DO love watching serious drama type movies, comedies, adventures, romantic types....but I seem to have a leaning toward watching movies that are classified as children types of movies, especially if there is an element of the magical or fantasy element to it. Maybe it had something to do with growing up watching the classic Disney animated movies....Bambi, Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, etc. I think I bring this up, as just recently a gave myself a few presents of some DVD movies..my local movie theater sucks as far as showing a lot of popular movies. For instance, now every prior time a Harry Potter movie came out, they DID show it...well when Harry Potter and the Phoenix came out they didn't...grrr..So figured, okay when the DVD movie comes out, even though it will be sight unseen, I'll get it...Needless to say I love ALL the Harry Potter movies and including the last one (Phoenix)--though they, the writers did hack off a lot of stuff that had been in the book that would have been great to see. I also bought myself The Golden Compass...GREAT movie...I'm finishing off reading the third in the trilogy of His Dark Materials, The Amber Spyglass by Phillip Pullman...but when I saw the trailers for The Golden Compass knew it would be up my alley Then just last night, I watched The Last Mimzy....LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this movie...I was originally only going to watch maybe only half but wound up watching the whole thing...uh, don't ask what time I went to bed...(uh, the birds were already starting to chirp...hehee)...I'm hoping to eventually get the book, oh, and I would LOVE one of those talking Mimzy Rabbit toys...uh, any idea how much they go for? Yikes, over $100.00 even on ebay! I still love to watch Disney or animated movies....I bawled like a baby with The Lion King...Thomasina (an old movie)...and on and on. So even though you like to consider yourself a sophisticated, grown up person....do you find you get a real kick out of watching kiddie movies? Which ones? If you're a parent...do you make the excuse that you're "forcing" yourself to "endure" a kiddie movie....when in reality you WANT to watch it?rasp

Ha Ha! i'm a 46 year old man and i just watched the SpongeBob Movie on Monday......yes, it was on Nikelodeon. and like you, i think Disney animated movies are great. i guess i just loved animated movies when i was a kid and i never out grew them.w00t i did have to endure the same movies over and over when my kids were little, but they're all grown now so i can't use that excuse anymore. i just love good animation. [sconibear]
Did you ever see The Polar Express? Talk about advanced animation...I've made that one of my Christmas movies I just have to watch every year. [pyewacket]

Although you would certainly have to force me to watch the movies you mentioned (the newer ones) I do enjoy a movie aimed at children once in awhile. I tend to drift towards silly animated movies like Cars or Meet The Robinsons. If the movie looks good to me, I won't care who the movie is aimed athappy [fwidman]
I did go to the theater to see Narnia. I haven't seen the second one yet but I plan to happy My wife loved Lord of the Rings. It was a bit much for me. I watched the first one then quit. [fwidman]

Not me, I LOVE kids movies - even if I have to pay full price to not see it in a theater full of kids. Gotta say, saw Pirates, Harry Potter and Batman at matinee prices without small children - went to a theater that only lets the little ones in on certain days of the week. AND I got a meal! [ElicBxn]
Most of ours don't either, but Alamo Drafthouse does - you can even get beer and stuff. If that's what you like - yuk. http://www.drafthouse.com/ [ElicBxn]

There's nothing wrong with watching kid movies or tv shows, i think. I watch disney channel most of the time and i enjoy their shows. And i'd much rather watch aniated movies, too. [super_jj]
I sure wish I could watch the Disney Channel again, but alas no more cable...had to discontinue itsad [pyewacket]

hi pyewacket yes I am a kid at heart as Iloved to watch the Magic Garden and Alice in Wonderland, the Wizard of Oz, cinderella, and ray bradburys Something Wicked this Way passes. Also those old disney movies about the volkswagon bug, cannot even remember the name now. The Sound of Music, all the old kids stories, also mysteries and other a dult fare too. And the Lord of the Rings triology as I had never read the books. my son is a Lord Of the Rings buff for sure. [Hatley]
The movie about the volkswagon...wasn't it named Herbie? I LOVE Lord of the Rings...seeing those movies inspired me to read the books again..hadn't read them since I was in High School. I have a saying on my profile page from LOTR...over my avatar...just bet your son would know who said it and to whom and from which book...LOL [pyewacket]

yes sir! I love watching children's programs. Nowadays I'm into Fairy Godparents,Jimmy Nuetron, Kim Possible, Totally Spies,Mr. Bean and Sponge Bob Squarepants. I used to watch Bugs Bunny and Friends, but I don't know probably I get tired of repeated shows. I am also a fanatic of Anime', I remember watching Dragon Ball Z when I was a kid, then now, I watch Naruto, One Piece, Chobits and many more. At firstI would nag my young sister and brothers when they spend too much time watching cartoons but then when I tried watching with them I discovered it's not bad at all. I guess no one gets old. There will always be a kid in us. [aendzie]
I love Mr. Bean...he's hysterical. Yes, here's to hoping I remain a kid at heart forever..LOL [pyewacket]

Well, I do like SOME kids' movies. I've bought several for the kids and watched them myself a few times before they're around. I don't like the sickly sweet ones or the Disney stuff like Bambi, Pocahontas, Little Mermaid, etc. but I don't have a problem with stuff like Spiderwick Chronicles, Water Horse, Golden Compass, etc. I sometimes watch the kids shows - Fairly Odd Parents, Jimmy Neutron, Raven, Suite Life But Spongebob and Barney make me nauseous. [dark4eyes]
I agree with that - Tom Cruise ruined the Vampire movie. Pity because I love the books. I wouldn't mind ONE bit if Antonio Bandaras decided to nibble on MY neck. He's DEFINITELY yummy!!! [dark4eyes]

I am 20 and I just love cartoons and shows meant for younger audiences. I will be out of class and watching spongebob or watching a disney movie on weekends. I am silly I know but hey who cares it makes me happy and that is all that matters! [elliottsthebomb]
Nope you're not being silly for watching them...heck I'm 52 years old and I watch kiddie cartoons and movies [pyewacket]

I am the same way. I love a good movie even though I don't see enough of them. If I sit around and just watch TV I get so sleepy. When I got my cat over 14 years ago I watched the movie the Lion King and I fell in love with Simba and I named my kitten Simba even though that was a boy's name and she is a girl. I am not a big Harry Potter fan but I do like a lot of the "family" (kid) movies. [tyc415]
Yes, I have seen it a few times and loved it. [tyc415]

Hi! I am totally adult enough to admit that I love kiddie movies and shows w00t I love Pixar movies most especially Toy Story, Cars, and Bug's Life. It's fun to watch them because the animation is really good and of course, the stories are nice. As for cartoon series, I really love The Fairly OddParents and Spongebob. Aside from they being kid-oriented shows, there are also perfectly blended funny adult jokes in them. I don't know if the kids understand them though lol I kind of feel sad for my classmate / friend when she told me that her brother always tells her that she is already old enough to stop liking children's shows. She likes the character Winnie The Pooh a lot and of course, she loves watching the show. Too bad her brother's view about it is like that. I hope she gets to express her love for cartoons despite that. rolleyes [EnslinPorter]
What a downer that your friend's brother is in a sense making fun of her for liking kiddie shows and movies..maybe in time he might actually change and might even get caught watching them himself....LOL [pyewacket]

Nope, I wouldn't even deny it...I just tell them the truth - I love cartoons and kiddie movies! There's nothing more relaxing than watching a cartoon like Donald Duck grumbling away at his nephews, or Mr Bean doing his slapstick stuffs or Kungfu Panda being so clumsy at his acrobatics! And just imagine, laughing as loud, and enjoying as much as the kids! This is better than being at the spa!happy [lazeebee]
I love Mr. Bean's antics...I first got introduced to him about eight years ago. I think watching kiddie movies is great therapy to get away from the negativity that might exist in our lives, right? [pyewacket]

well i think kids can watch,, movies that dont have any extreme scenes!! you know what i mean!!! adventurous movies are always fun to watch!!! as you said!! [magna86]
I'm surprised that often even movies for kids actually do have rather extreme scenes, aren't you? [pyewacket]

Oh my gosh, I love a bunch of "kid" movies! I own Enchanted, Meet the Robinson's, Cars, The Emperor's New Groove, all of the Harry Potter movies to date... I also like to watch some of the kid tv shows too. I will watch Hannah Montana, Drake and Josh, The Suite Life of Zack and Cody and I liked Zoey 101 too. I like other types of movies as well. But I am not too big to watch a kid movie either! lol I don't really like animal movies usually so I skip those ones, but I did like Eight Below. happy [moneyandgc]
Oh I love animal type movies..real sucker for them and usually wind up crying and bawling like a baby at the end...even if they end happily, like Fly Away Home [pyewacket]

I'm adult enough. I may be 22, but still I do enjoy kiddie films sometimes. Why not? If it makes you laugh then go for it, right? Disney and Pixar are geniuses when it comes to creativity. I like the way the stories are constructed and how music sets the tone for the films. The classics will always be classic for this reason. And nothing can top The Lion King, The Fox & The Hound, and Toy Story. [Xdrowninghavocx]
Gee you just reminded me of a movie I love...The Fox & The Hound...I loved it [pyewacket]

My daughter is only 8 months old, and I make the excuse that she wants to watch the movie, when I really do. lol. The other day while I was cleaning I popped in Open Season, Cars, and Harry Potter. Sometimes its nice to kick back with a kids movie and feel young again. :) [tlb0822]
Well my mother probably made me as the excuse for going to DisneyLand..I was only a baby as well and she took me there...of course being so young can't remember a darn thing about it...LOL [pyewacket]

I've never had a problem telling anyone I like kid shows. I went to the movies to watch Finding Nemo when it came out. And I loved the Mermaid one. (can't remember the name) I too love Harry Potter, the Xmen and all that kind of stuff. The holidays are when I find the best cartoon shows. The Peanuts christmas show, the Grinch, Frosty the snoman. Love them all. LOL [TessWhite]
The Little Mermaid??? Oh I just love all those Christmas kiddie shows...gee, when you think of it...Christmas is just around the corner before you know it. Did you ever see The Polar Express? Highly, highly recommend it [pyewacket]

Yes I am adult enough to admit that I like watching some movies made for children. It depends on the movie and if it is made for intelligent children and not just silly. Still some adult movies are silly. I liked the Harry Potter movies. They are a good example of intelligent stories made for children. I enjoy watching some animations. The Japanese are quite good at making animations and there are some very unusual ones coming out these days. However, I don't think of myself as sophisticated and I am not a parent. If I watch a movie made for children it is because I want to watch it. Sometimes it is just nice to watch a story that is nice and simple and happy. [sharra1]
I can't agree with you more that fantasy movies are a great escape from a lot of today's negativity. Well I'm not far from a movie theater but they don't show too many of the kinds of movies I like...so usually wait to get the DVD when it comes out...and yes, sight unseen most times...though watching trailers on the computer often helps me decided if a movie is up my alley..LOL [pyewacket]

Lol...i watch Tom & Jerry. I watch animated movies, fantasy, magical etc. And i am admitting it right here. lol [ghazal2k5]
Heehee....you're looking at an avid Tom & Jerry fan right here...And even though I'm a cat lover...I always side for that pesky mouse...LOL [pyewacket]

LOL - Give me a good kid's movie over anything else any day! I'm a classic movie addict, but I'm also ADULT enough to need to indulge in the genre of kid's movies that were so important to my childhood, and help me stay in touch with my inner child. And the only time I can get the hubs to sit through a movie or go to a theatre is if it's a kid's movie! You would swear there were a gang of five year olds living in my house judging from my DVD collection! ROFL [sparkofinsanity]
LOL...yes, if people were to judge by my DVD collection they would also swear I had kids (don't except for my kitties)----thanks for the e-card too...Loved it...Which reminds me....ever see 101 Dalmations?..not just the cartoon but the one that came out some years ago? [pyewacket]

Hi Pyewacket, I love these movies and two of favorites at the moment are Finding Nemo and Cars. We have a lot of the Disney films too at home and we consider them family entertainment rather than just for children. I haven' seen the Golden Compass yet but that is one I would like to get on DVD and watch. As a parent I don't mind at all when the kids want to out one on. Ellie :D [ellie333]
I really recommend The Last Mimzey too...I only just watched it the other night and want to watch it again. Also can't wait for the next two in the series of the Golden Compass series to come out. [pyewacket]

Nope. I revel in it. In fact, if you check out the history of fictional entertainment, you'll fine that a large part of the "fantasy" was written FOR adults, actually, though it amused children as well. Look, e.g., at "A Midsummer's Night's Dream!" Or other stories about the faerie, or gods & goddesses! Maggiepie "Poof, poof piffles; make me small as Sniffles!" [Maggiepie]
I could never understand why even Lord Of The Rings was considered a "kids" book. I didn't read it until my late High School days then re-read it shortly after the movies came out...Yet, the actor who played Aragon, Viggo Mortensen was inspired to take the role after his ELEVEN year old son recommended he take the role...yikes could never imagine reading that at eleven....LOL [pyewacket]

Of course I still love watching animated films and features. Sometimes I even enjoy more animation than live action movies because at least in animation everything could be unreal unlike in live action movies where everything should look as real as possible. Sometimes the more they try to look real the more they get disappointing. For me these movies are great too because it makes me feel young [magojordan]
If you want to see great animation....did you ever see The Polar Express...that's a kiddie movie that won't disappoint one [pyewacket]

I admit I love children movies, Harry Potter; I watched Jumanji several times, and still enjoy, and Golden Compass is a great movie too. And I am proud to say that I read children books too, Little Prince is one of my favourite books, not to mention Grimm's fairy tales. [Natrak]
I've seen a lot of the different versions of The Secret Garden turned into movies...and loved them all...that was one of my most memorable books I had read as a kid...also The Little Princess...Awww...Grimm's tales are usually a bit sad...like Hans Christian Andersonsad [pyewacket]

HELL YA I'LL ADMIT IT!! I'm a HUGE fan for kids movies and my kids dont need to be around for me to watch them LOL..Golden Compass was a great flick! Thtas on my "movies to buy" list actually...Last Mimzy was good too...I think my 2 big favs are Ferngully and Nemo....and I can't wait to see Wall-E!! i just love kid flicks...they are such a riot and just put me into such a good mood ya know... [Ravenladyj]
I can't wait for the next two in the Phillip Pullman series to come out...the next two in His Dark Materials series...The Subtle Knife and The Amber Spyglass..love the girl who plays Lyra...oh, and of course Serafina and the witches...probably one of the few times witches are seen in a positive light [pyewacket]

No... I don't like children's movies. But it seem that a lot of people do... Which is a bit of a puzzle to me. On the other hand... I still enjoy re-reading for the nieme time some children comics like "Asterix and Obelix" or even "Sylvester". And I am sure that quite a few adults would question my sanity over that... lol Animation movies have become popular in the last decade... but I have not watched any of them. It is just not my thing. [Aussies2007]
I still like to play games like a kid. But from a mental point of view... I cannot relate to kids. [Aussies2007]

But who said that adult can not watch children's movie (though the same is not true vice versa...). You see, I'm 35 years old and still prefer to watch the children's movies then the so called, adult's movies (but it may be slightly different with real 'adult' movies...). I think a child always remain there inside all of us, whatever be our age. Only thing is, up to what extent we allow that child to come out. For me, I always remember my childhood with lot of fondness and in spite of all the problems (my parents were from a lower income group family), I still want to return to my childhood days. But I know this is impossible, so I try to relive those moments by watching children's movies. [suruchi86]
Same is with me. In fact, I never liked the so called adult themed movies. My first choice always is to watch clean, funny, comedy movies. [suruchi86]

Honestly, I am still into watching kiddie shows, cartoons & animes. I like it & I have to so I can guide my kids with what they are watching. I need to know what they should watch and not to watch. [izathewzia]
It really must be hard though to be a parent to guide children what to watch as a lot of movies geared for children can actually be quite violent..don't you think? [pyewacket]

Hahaiii! I admit it, I love watching kids movie too.. I just love the way its shown, I love the values that I can learn and I wanna see the characters. Some examples are: Narnia Nemo Hercules Mulan etc [rodelbulan]
I don't know how I managed to forget to list Chronicles of Narnia...I wasn't able to see the second in the series so can't wait for it to come out in DVD...which I think should be soon. [pyewacket]

I am not! I watched "Atlantis" and I loved it. I have seen many good "designated for children" films, and I am not afraid to say that I watched them. [rogue13xmen13]
It is a really good film. Not one of the best according to die-hard Disney fans, but it is pretty good. [rogue13xmen13]

I love shrek and harry potter but I am not much of a children's movie person. [winterose]
I loved the Shrek movies as well...the second better than the first [pyewacket]

Yes I can admit to not have children living in my home yet I still watch certain Disney movies, not cartoons, but movies that take me away for a couple of hours from all the horrors going on in the world. [whiteheather39]
Oh yes that was great Glenn Close was perfect as Cruella. How did you recognise the witch? She must have looked a lot different! That was pretty neat to meet her. [whiteheather39]

Oh Pye! What a great topic! I LOVE "kids" movies. Especially since so much of the humor is over the kids' head. "The Last Mimzy" was great. "The Bridge to Terabithia" was so much better than I thought It would be. My SIL and I went to see "Horton Hears a Who" Just her and I. She is older than I, I am in my late 30's she is in her early 40's. I did feel kind of awkward, I wanted to "borrow" a kid so it wouldn't seem so weird. Then I thought "who the hell cares, life's to short to be so freaking serious" We loved it! My all time recent favorite though, has to be "Finding Nemo" It's full of adult humor, drama, and suspense. I think I have only once "forced" myself to endure a kids' movie "for the children" Though it's been so long, I can't remember which one it was confused [dizzblnd]
Would you recommend Bridge To Terabithia? I did read the book and thought it was sad...won't give away any spoilers here...LOL I think Artemis Fowl are supposed to be movies too...would LOVE to see them and the Inkheart series...ever read those? [pyewacket]

I love watching cartoon network! especially fosters home for imaginary friends... My sched conflicts airing time during noon... I really stay up till 2am just to wait for it! lol [fondant]
I sure wish I had cable....used to. But late at night when I did have cable, always tuned in the Cartoon Network..LOL [pyewacket]

I do like kids movies, yes. I like Harry Potter, and I liked Ice Age. I have not seen The Goldon Compass yet, but we have the spiderwick chronicles. I would not watch the narnia films because they have sad bits in! My very favourite kids films though are Garfield the movie and Garfield 2, he was my childhood favourite and so still is as an adult! I have watched those two films so often I know them practically word for word. [gemini_rose]
Well even though Narnia is a tad sad (especially the one part where the White Witch kills Aslan--though he is resurrected remember?)...the animation/special effects are FANTASTIC....you can't believe how real looking Aslan looks...and just think all accomplished by computer graphics. [pyewacket]

actually cartoons should not have an age limit. i just went to the cinema a few month back to watch kungfu panda. i still have a good laugh even though i am 17 and should watch some other movie. right now, i am thinking of going with my friends to the local cinema to watch wall-e. kiddie movie are mostly comedy. but some like those that were made by tim burton, such as the corpse bride, nightmare before Christmas. those have some element of romance that can be watch by people of all ages. if i am a parent, i would force myself to endure it, even tough it is really lousy. anyway you still have to make some time for your children, don't you? [freakingman]
I love Tim Burton's tad bit of off the wall way of looking at things...ever see Edward Scissorhands?? Loved it. I think that was Johnny Depp's first major movie role [pyewacket]

There are alot of kids movies that I like. I love Disney movies I like Beauty and The Beast and Disney Pixar Cars, I have never watched any of the Harry Potter movies but I have heard that htye are good. My favorite still has to be The Little Mermaid though my daughter just got Ariels Beginning I still need to watch it. [luvstochat]
A lot of the fairly more recent Disney movies have been turned into major Broadway (NYC) plays/musicals...like The Lion King, Beauty and the Beast and The Little Mermaid....never have seen them (ticket prices are outrageous) but bet they're great too. [pyewacket]

Morning Pye's Mommy! Not only do i read all children books, go to the movies and check up for future items coming out, but do all this before my kids and grandkids do..lol.. I'm usually the ones that let them know what they might like to read..I keep all the books and my children love all my Libraries...i have bookcases in all rooms almost..lol.. Now you have to read Stephenie Meyers collection of books for young adults..The Twilight Saga.. On Sept 9th is a 10 volume coming out called 39 Cases..Stephen Spelberg already has movie rights..All books will be from different authors.. Enjoy and have fun reading! Huggles [Rosekitty]
***Gulps*** Hate to admit it but never heard of the Twilight Saga..so they're good huh?? This should be up your alley Kitty...ever read Erin Hunter's Warrior series....all about cats? I would love to see them turned into movies.... Check out the website http://www.warriorcats.com/warriorshell.html meowy... =^._.^= [pyewacket]

I do love to watch animated movies. Even I already 22 years old I still watch Disney movies and I also like to watch Japanese animated movies. [ravinder18]
LOL...I'm nearly old enough to be your mom and I STILL love kiddie movies...Heehee [pyewacket]

I would never in 1,000,000 years admit to being hooked on "Toy Story" and "Shrek" more than my son was...and Monsters Inc. [myklj999]
Okay...it's a secret just between us....LOLrasp [pyewacket]

WE do watch teh Disney channel alot some for gran daughter but she dont set still long enough to watchthe whole show. SHe would love to watch her cartoons 24/7. And we do enjoy them maybe we are kids at heart huh? Watch some HArry POtter when on tv need to watch more I guess for I like all that kinds of things. WE have Bambi 1 and 2 also a Cinderella one and my daughter tries to get all of SHirley Temples Movies on DVDs [Lakota12]
yes it was out just a little while cant find it now and yup it was good about the father taking care of Bambi after mother got shot! Dont stiop me from eating deer or anything else! [Lakota12]

oh, i grew up on disney films. i used to wait anxiously for the "release" of the old classics. they were released every so many years. with the advent of buying VCR tapes, i bought quite a few. i was always touched by the quality of the drawing, the facial expressions and the story line. i used to joke that walt disney ruined me for marriage. once the prince scooped up the girl on the horse, they went to his castle and you never saw the rest ! LOL [MOMMASAM]
LOL--I think most of us as little girls thought we'd meet our Prince Charming and live happily ever after...I'm STILL waiting for him...heehee [pyewacket]

Movies that are aimed at children are a far cry from what I usually enjoy. However, when my daughter gets excited about one, I have to watch it with her. Now, let me tell you this, my daughter is 23. She is a very intelligent young lady, but she still holds on to a part of the little girl she was. I cannot help but be sucked into her enthusiasm. I have seen Monsters Inc., Shrek (all three), Finding Nemo, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Little Mermaid, just to name a few. Like I said, they are a far cry from what I normally watch, but I love them. [thebohemianheart]
I like sci-fi and horror movies, and an occasional love story, or comedy. My daughter always gets excited when she sees a new kids' movie coming out. We just had to go see Happy Feet because she raved so much about it.*L* It was a good movie, though. [thebohemianheart]

Absolutely! My son is now 17 and though he doesn't watch kiddie movies anymore, my husband and I sure do. We love them, rent them or buy them if we really like it. The last kiddie movie we saw was 'Nim's Island' and it was GREAT! Family oriented. No swear words or sex. Any age can view it. I wouldn't call Harry Potter or The Golden Compass kiddie movies, Narnia either, even though kids go to see them. The idea behind both of those series are adult, especially His Dark Materials. I don't think a young child could even grasp the concept, would only like it for the bears. I loved that series, BTW. Have you finished it yet? I'm like you, I'm attracted to these kinds of movies, the fantasy element is the draw for me. Another good one we saw a few months ago was The Seeker(in the US), based on the novel The Dark Is Rising (UK release name) by Susan Cooper. If you haven't seen it yet, please do, it is definitely up your alley. And Stardust was awesome, another must see! I've read all of these first, so even my book choices are along this line. I read 'Pyewacket' when I was a child. [thelastwolf113]
Me too, with the wolves. I'm wolf-crazy, LOL My house is full of wolf pictures, wolf calendar from various years I refuse to take them down, LOL, see, crazy. I do wolf puzzles and then frame them, I have no place left to put them but I still keep buying them and doing them. The series was 5 novels, so I can hope they'll do more but it's really about money when it comes to making movies. I never seen this advertized for the theater and I don't know how well it did in the box-office. I would love to see the rest of the series become movies. [thelastwolf113]

I love all kid movies. BUt I think that my all time favorite is Elmo in Grouchland. So yes to answer your question...I'am adult enough to admit that I'm really a 39 year old kid. Proud of it too [boppiedog]
Well I'm a 52 year old kid and proud of it toolol [pyewacket]

I do like them particularly tom and jerry [lalchetian]
Yes...I've always loved Tom and Jerry too [pyewacket]

I love watching kiddie movies! My favorite is Finding Nemo. I have always liked them, and have always watched them. I have a 4 year old to watch movies with now, but even before him I still watched kiddie movies. I just find that I wstch them alot more than I used to lol. [Danesmommy]
Hehe...well now having a 4 year old you have a really great excuse for watching kiddie movies...right?lol [pyewacket]

Oh YES! i really1000x love watching cartoons! i am not ashamed to admit this to whoever asks me what kind of tv shows/movies i watch.. some of my favorites are little lulu(from cartoon network, but they are not airing it anymore), hey arnold, rugrats, lilo and stitch tv series.. i also like the original movies produced by Disney Channel like camp rock, high school musical, twitches, and the others.. i also like the Harry Potter series, i have read already the first five books and have plans of reading the last two.. I also love monsters inc, finding nemo and lilo and stich because they all made me CRY, no joke! :)) [marialeovebweeg]
I have to admit being a real wimp and often cry at the end of a lot of kiddie movies...even when they end happily...I don't even think kids cry at the end....but sappy adult here meaning me.does.LOL [pyewacket]

Hello happy I love all types of movies . I like kiddie movies and have even went to see them with a friend when i was in high school . I was like 15 and went to see beauty and the beast . Take care [metschica25]
LOL--When the first series of Star Wars movies came out which are now considered the last three in the series of six, I collected the tumblers from the movies at Burger King...and believe it or not still have them...LOL...wonder if they are worth anything now? [pyewacket]

Im a big kid, i love watching disney movies, specially barbie,i always watch nickelodeon, even harry potter im number one fan of it, i already read all harry potter series books and have a collection of the movies and i got it as my presents,i watched most of the children's film.happy myloting! [rainmark]
Maybe since I grew up with Disney movies, I still love watching Disney type movies...even the newer ones. I've read all the Harry Potter books as well...kind of sad there aren't going to be anymore...sad [pyewacket]

I love kids shows and movies and not afraid to say it! LOL My favorites are Pixars. I thought The Incredibles was fantastic. All of them were, but that one really reeled me in. I am also a big disney fan and loved all the disney classics; Cinderella, Snow White, etc. The Little Mermaid is my favorite. Oh, and I'm a closet Disney channel fan, too. [itsmefaith]
I sure wish I had cable ....used to watch the Disney Channel all the time when I did have it..waahhhhhhcry [pyewacket]

I do not know if this does classify as kiddie movie but I love Ice age 1 and 2, a bags life is cool too and many more that at the moment I can't think off. Is nothing wrong with liking cartoon moovies, or is there??? [SynthEtika]
are you kidding? I watch cartoon movies so nope there's nothing wrong with that [pyewacket]

I'm 51 and have an entire Disney movie collection. lol I just love them and needless to say my grandkids are delighted with that. My favorite is The Little Mermaid or Lion King. happy I do love the good crime shows like Law and Order or CSI but sometimes you just have to look for the kid in you. rasp [SwayingThunder]
Well I'm 52...rasp I think I have more kiddie movies that "grown up" types...and yes, I have a fairly large sized collection of Disney movies myself...some of the classics like Bambi, Sleeping Beauty, Snow White, Cinderella ...The Lion King. [pyewacket]

well they are better then those boring movies....i usually see cartoons and funny serials and even tom and jerry...as they are much more liking to me.... [aimseeker]
I love Tom And Jerry too..Love the mouse! Heehee [pyewacket]

Hi. My name is Carryl. And I am addicted to kids' movies. LOL I am actually WORSE than my kids. If there is a good animated movie out, I will be the first to suggest going to see it. I watched The Last Mimzy so many times that my kids tried to hide it from me. Heck...I even watch the saturday cartoons...that's how bad I am. I think my favorite movie of all time is The Aristocats. Gotta love Thomas O'Malley and his struttin' attitude. Hahaha [Katlady2]
Hello my name is Melanie and I hereby and forthwith confirm my heavy addiction to kids movies. And like you, this is one addiction I wouldn't dream of giving up. Ah-hah...so you loved The Last Mimzy yourself? I'm DYING to get one of those Mimzy rabbit dolls..heck...sometimes when they had some special "toy" one could get at Burger King I'd go get the Happy Meal just to get the toy....LOL...Did you ever see "Oliver"? It's all about a kitty too... [pyewacket]

Hi pye Yes, I am like that I just love the old Waltz Disney animated movies, I love Bambi but its too heart breaking, and I love Cinderella, Snow White the Jungle Book though that is not Disney Sleeping Beauty and Beauty and the Beast and I also love Song of The South, Peter Pan and many more, but I have no children so I can't make excuse for watching them and my husband thinks I'm nuts but it better then watch adults movies with all adults stuff and voilence. Bright Blessings Tamara [tamarafireheart]
Hi pye, Yes I have seen that version of Peter Pan and yes 'I do believe in fairies I do believe in fairies, I do believe in fairies', well do you and everyone thinks I am when I tell them I believe fairies. Bright Blessings Tamara [tamarafireheart]

Hell yeah I am lol. I love the harry potter series, and movies. I liked the golden compass, but had never heard of it so havent read the books yet. I havent seen the last mimzy yet either. I like the newer ones more though, I liked the classic disney movies as a kid but not so much now. I went to see the new TMNT movie, I was about the only adult there without a kid with them lol. [darkjedi]
Yeah I had heard that about eragon, ive seen the movie but havent read the book yet. I hate it when they do that to movies from books. Ever read battlefield earth? The book is great, over 1000 pages, the movie just sucked. Well the kids didnt really look at me weird the parents did lol. [darkjedi]

I am adult enough to know what I like and not care if some think it may be childish. I like Harry Potter, Star Trek, Star Wars, I loved the animated movie The Incredibles, I am looking forward to seeing Wall.E, since I missed it in the theatre. I have watched Disney since I was in grammar school and it never goes out of style. There are many children's movies that I enjoy and I don't really consider it being childish. but more of a reflection of being young at heart. The Ice Age movies were delightful as was Happy Feet. In this day and age of fast and furious visual and special effects I find it absolutely relaxing to be able to sit back and enjoy a "children's" movie. More enjoyable childrens movies would be the Shrek series and the Dr Dolittle movies, I dare you sit back and relax with one of them...lol. [sumofalltears]
Heehee..I love the Shrek movies too...haven't seen the third one though. Like you I was "weaned" on the early Disney movies...the old classics...mmm..sometimes wonder if it was more my mother who wanted to watch them rather than me....LOL [pyewacket]

Oh I'll admit I do watch things that are considered kids shows or movies. I love Harry Potter. I love the books and the movies. I regularly watch cartoons. I've gone to the movies to watch newly released movies that are considered 'for kids'. I just really like the shows. I don't see anything wrong with it or admitting it. [highflyingxangel]
I think I would much rather watch kiddie movies than ones with a lot of mayhem and violence..there's enough violence in our world to begin with without watching more as "entertainment" [pyewacket]

i dont force myself to endurelol my grandkids and everyone knows i love not only the movies but listen to Harry Potter audios when they first come out. matter of fact my grown kids often get them on audio for my birthday. Im just like Stephen King who said a while back when the last one came out, he felt like he was loosing a friend! because Rowling was saying it was her last Harry Pottersad.btw, my whole family knows my favorite movie of all time has always been Wizard of Oz! the kids remember every year watching it over and over when it was coming on tv every fall. I also, love and watch every Christmas Carol movie every year i can catch. lol [bunnybon7]
I felt the same way when the last Harry Potter book came out...I read that book REAL slowly since I just didn't want it to end. I think I'll feel even worse when the very last movie comes out...sniffle...sniffle... [pyewacket]

I love kid's movies.lol My husband and I just watched The Last Mimzy and we loved it! We watch the Bee movie, the Ant Bully...all those animated ones and we LOVE Harry Potter!! Ummm..we watch grown up movies once in a while too...really..rolleyes [Wyldrose]
LOL...I "occasionally" watch grown up movies too... Nope amanda333 never saw click...I'll have to look it up...maybe can find the trailer for it somewhere so I can get an idea what it's like [pyewacket]

I love the Kids movies specially Disney ones I actually prefer them to other Movies most of the time I am not ashamed to admit that I enjoy watching them I am hoping to get Shrek 3 soon lol I have 1 and 2 but not been able to afford 3 yet Hugs [gabs8513]
It's amazing how Disney movies have branched out though..while of course they do still make "cute" movies and family oriented ones they've branched out to more "intense" ones....Chronicles of Narnia for instance is a Disney movie [pyewacket]

I don't like most kids movies anymore. I enjoyed watching them with my kids when they were little. I enjoyed the movies and I enjoyed watching them watch the movies. What I AM adult enough to admit is that I DO like to watch "Sponge Bob Square Pants"! I think the show is funny as heck. I told my sister and dad that, they just shook their heads and my sis said that i'm wierd. [miamilady]
I'm really missing something...so many people are mentioning about Sponge Bob...is that on the Disney channel? I don't have cable anymore so kind of limited in what I can see...cry [pyewacket]

I love "kids" movies! "Cinderella Story" "Nim's Island" "Narnia Chronicles" "The Lizzie McGuire Movie" "Harry Potter" ... the list goes on endlessly! When I was a preschool teacher, I would get so happy when the kids would bring in a new movie that I hadn't seen yet. I loved "Aladdin"! Sometimes I am just in the mood for something simpler and less intense. Plus these kind of movies are just plain uncomplicated, less violent, fun. [Trace86]
Actually when you think of it though there are some kiddie movies that do have a lot of violence...even Harry Potter...can't help wonder how kids are going to react to the very last HP movie..with all those deaths of favorite characters. [pyewacket]

Okay, you twised my arm I will admit there are some children shows that I will watch and not even complain, hmm I dont know it there is one I have complained about watching in fact. I love Disney shows and wish they would bring back the good ole days where you could watch Disney on Sunday nights, was great for a family night! Lion King, Bambi, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs and well you get the idea.. lol. I also like the movies like the Goonies, and such. Makes for a nice family night and the kids still love them! So no excuses here Im a kid at heart! [Ithink]
I think at heart most of us are "goonies" lol [Ithink]

I openly admit to watching anything I happen to like. I like cartoons and all kinds of random stuff. I don't think it's about being an adult or not it's about being an adult or not it's about being comfortable with who you are and you can do that at any age really. [banadux]
I guess I must feel very comfortable with who I am and love to watch kiddie shows and movieshappy [pyewacket]

With the sway most of the new movies have taken, I seriously wonder if no one has any good ideas these days. I watched "The Incredibles" a Disney Movie, with my 6 year old neice and enjoyed it. Her mom kidded me about watching it, but I have found that Disney Movies can be just the right type, at times. Shucks, Tom & Jerry is still my favorite cartoon! [RhythmWalker1]
Heehee...I'm a Tom And Jerry fan myself. I think a lot of kiddie shows and movies do show for more imagination than the "adult" themed movies [pyewacket]

OK I admit it I LOVE kiddie movie, pre-teen love stories, animated movies and all that. I too love the fantasy and magic of movies like the Golden COmpass, Harry Potter, even have all the books and read them all, Disney movies classic and new. I also love the pre-teen movie like Nancy Drew. I also like movies like the Little princess and the secret garden and not just because I can now watch these with my kids but because they are fun and carefee and the more serious story are sweet and heart warming and not so negative as alot of other types of movies are today. I am not saying that I do not love a good adventure, romantic drama or other adult movie but these so called kiddie movies still remain some of my favorites. [jmhall]
The Secret Garden was one of the first books I feel in love with...so you can bet I've watched the different versions of the movies..same with The Little Princess [pyewacket]

oh yeah i am adult enough to admit i watch child programs. i do all the time. its something new all the time. i dont get bored. there are times when i think they are better than the adult movies. i get turned off by them sometimes. i find its something parents can do with their children. its a way to spend time with them. you can discuss things u see in the movies with them. u are able to connect with them on their level. u are able to have a better relationship with them. [Cocoa33]
Too many adult themed movies are full of too much violence, blood and gore...who needs to watch that all the time? Would rather watch a kiddie movie any day as it doesn't have that [pyewacket]

OMG I love kids movies. I find myself watching them even with out my daughter. And I absolutly LOVE the Harry potter movies. I have all of them sofar. I cant wait untill the next one comes out but I know there going to cut alot out. I hate that they have to do that. Have you read the last book yet? It is amazing. I have saw the last mimzy and I love it as well. lol. Kids movies ROCK! [corahsmommy]
oh wow 2 movies I havent heard that how exciting. :) [corahsmommy]

I am far from sophisticated. I do admit that I love "Finding Nemo". It is a very good movie. I still watch the 80s teen movies and love to watch them. I introduced my daughter to " Ferris Bueller's Day Off" just a couple weeks ago. I do like watching other movies that are tween movies but I don't really admit to that but I do watch when kiddo watches. Like Princess Diaries and Ice Princes. I don't ever watch them by myself. [Ruthep]
Heehee..I love Ferris Bueller! Think that has got to be a classic....wouldn't you have loved to have come up with some of those schemes for ditching school when you were that age? [pyewacket]

is there any rule that we shouldn't see kiddie movies. i love to watch a lot of animation movies , i also see some cartoon series when i get time though not regularly. i ask u one question. Do all adults watch only adult films? dont they watch other films. i admit that i will watch kid movies if they are good. [vijbas]
I just think many people just might not admit to watching kiddie movies....I'm thinking in terms of men in particular, who might look like truck drivers types...and I bet they cry at some of those movies too...LOL [pyewacket]

i love any kida movie made by disney ...my favorite disney movie would be anything that is musical....i for some reason can not make threw the wholemovie golden compass movie. love the harry potter movies. there are some kid show or movie i can't stand like barney and teletubbies. i love dragontales [jiffys_frog_woman]
Heehee...I never cared for Barney either..LOL Did you ever see a show that was on some time ago....Wishbone? Loved that! [pyewacket]

Sure happyI went to see Piglets Big Movie and Ice Age and I still have a liking for the Disney cartoons and especially Tom and Jerry that always gives me a good laugh (especially the early ones) even though I have seen them many many times. Drama and what you might call serious films are fine and entertaining, but still I think that there is a need for entertainment that is undemanding. I've seen "The Golden Compass" but I didn't thing very much of it.sad [jwfarrimond]
I see you're another Tom and Jerry fan. I just really don't care to watch "serious" adult films much..sometimes there's just too much negativity in them [pyewacket]

I don't know about movies for children (other than the ones I loved in childhood myself), but I do like movies that tend to be for "younger" audiences. I LOVED Jim Carrey's MASK. It really did a good job of showing the different sides of our personalities and how they can go awry. I also liked HOOK with Robin Williams. It turned make-believe into "maybe-I-DO-believe". Another one I have enjoyed watching has been Legally Blonde with Reese Witherspoon. But, there are always the old favorites such as "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang", "Absent Minded Professor" (the original with Fred MacMurray), "Mary Poppins", etc. But, believe it or not, I have never ever seen any of Disney's feature length cartoons - the old ones that I would have grown up with. I just never got into them, so never watched them. Except maybe for Sleeping Beauty - I believe I did see that one years ago. [jerzgirl]
Powder - I've seen that title. Isn't that the one with the guy who's all white or very very pale? I don't know much about the story line, but what little I heard was that people enjoyed it. The other one I haven't heard of. Sounds interesting, though. I might enjoy that one, too. I also enjoyed one that didn't make big box office, but I bought it and would still watch it if it came on TV. That's Shrimp on the Barbie with Cheech Marin and Emma Samms. Very cute movie set in Australia. About a very unlikely couple who weren't supposed to be a couple facing overt stereotypes and learning something about themselves in the meantime. A romantic comedy - my kind of movie. [jerzgirl]

I like watching kid movies too. My son is two so I get plenty of oppurtunities to watch them. Some of my favs are Monster Inc., Finding Nemo, Bugs Life, Bee Movie and really I could go on and on [tiff1984]
Heehee...you have a good excuse with a two year old to watch kiddie movies...Good thing I live alone now and don't have to answer to anyone why I watch kiddie shows [pyewacket]

Hi pye, happy Wow. It looks like you've connected with a lot of kiddie movie viewers here. Congrats on all of your responses. I still love these movies, both animated and not. Since my daughter's now seventeen, I can't use the excuse that I'm 'enduring' them for her sake. The little girl I babysit, occasionally watches them, but not as much as some kids do. The good news is, my daughter still enjoys them too, and we actually watched some this summer. We love Mulan and Beauty and the Beast. I used to really enjoy A Little Princess, and actually should dig this one out, and see it again. The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe is another favourite, that we have on DVD. I could go on and on here, as I'm sure there are many I haven't even thought of. We also own Thomasina on VHS, and I watched it over and over (on t.v.), when I was a kid. Happy viewing! Take care. [someonesmom]
I actually have both versions of Lion, Witch and the Wardrobe...the original BBC version (on tape) from the 1980s and of course the newer one....what a difference in special affects...the Aslan in the first original one was just a glorified big "puppet"...LOL. I love Thomasina...always cry at that one....another oldie, think it's a Disney film is Grey Friar's Bobbie... Years ago when E.T. came out, I told my super I had seen it....He said, "Why did you see it? It's a kid's film" Got so ticked off at that..grrrr [pyewacket]

Oh man! I cried watching the movie Dumbo. The elephant's mother went to jail.. I cried and cried. I loved Lion King too. How about Buzz Lightyear? To Infinity and Beyond!!!! [OreoCookie3]
I haven't seen Shrek 2... I love the original Shrek. Oh yeah.. I love Toy Story too. How about Monsters Inc.? I liked it too! And Finding Nemo! [OreoCookie3]

I love animated movies. I laugh right along with the kids. I love going to the movie theater with the kid and hearing the little ones laugh. I went to see the animated star wars movie. It was good we missed the first few minutes of it but enjoyed it anyway. I also love the remakes on the comic books even if I did not read the comic books. Yes I am a kid at heart. I do not like the Simpsons I get tired of all their rudeness. I want to see ratatouille I have not rented yet from net flix. [teapotmommommerced]

I'm a fool for animated movies or fantasy movies or books for children! I'm getting fed up with all the movies shown on TV, where all they do is kill, beat or eviscerate each other... I like getting into a universe where peace rules and the good wins in the end in a beautiful manner. [stvasile]

Yes, I am adult enough to admit that I love watching movies that were designated for kids. happy I have always leaned towards these types of movies over the more grown up ones, even before I had kids of my own. Some of my favorites are The Lion King, Finding Nemo, and Ice Age. I have never pretended to force myself to watch a kid movie. I enjoy the fantasy aspect of it and the feeling it gives me when I watch these type of movies. happy [sacmom]

I like all the kid movies and will willing go watch one in the theater by myself. rasp I love the family movies the most, thou. The older family ones even better because there is no violence or bad language in them at all. These are made back when a kids or family movie truly was that. [blackbriar]
Wow--I've gotten behind here..LOL. I just finished watching Bridge to Terabithia last night and loved it. Kind of identify with both the kids Jess and Leslie. Yes, it's nice to watch a movie were foul language or violence hasn't gone haywire like in most adult movies. [pyewacket]

The last kids movie that I watched and enjoyed was Tinkerbell. I cant' wait until the next one comes out. They are so cute. I use to buy kids movies before I even had kids. There are a couple that I have never seen but for the most part I have seen alot of them. We own alot. We are even looking into getting a bigger dvd rack b/c ours is over flowing. We have to pick up holiday movies such as monster house which really isnt a holiday movie but we don't have the room to keep it out all year long also Christmas movies. [mflower2053]
LOL--I think I need some kind of storage thing/rack for my growing DVD movies and yes, most are children's types of movies [pyewacket]

haha..even adults have a child's heart. Kiddie movies remind us how great being a child is: learning new things, seeing the world as a great and nice place, no responsibilities...i love kiddie movies! [caisaki]

haha..even adults have a child's heart. Kiddie movies remind us how great being a child is: learning new things, seeing the world as a great and nice place, no responsibilities...i love kiddie movies! [caisaki]
Yes, being a kid harkens to a simpler life, no worries the way us adults have, so great to escape watching a kiddie movie and feel young again [pyewacket]

Yep, love Harry, quite like the Green thing, and love reading young adult fiction, like Terry Pratchett's kids' stuff. Some of it, esopecially Disney, drives me to distraction, but there's also some really fun stuff. Didn't even mind the British series on The Witch, The Lion and the Wardrobe, although I could cheerfully have throttled Lucy. Lash [grandpa_lash]
Goodness...I still have my VHS tapes of the British BBC version of Chronicles of Narnia...quite a difference from the newer version [pyewacket]

Are you kidding me?! I love children's movies! lol I also enjoy watching Harry Potter movies. In fact I make it a point to go see each one in theater when they come out, it's practically the only time I do go to the theater. I too, enjoy the Disney classics such as "Bambi", "The Fox and the Hound", "Lady and the Tramp", etc. and I have also seen "The Last Minzy". Some old favorites of mine include, "Homeward Bound, the Incredible Journey" (this is one of the few movies in which I think the remake is much better then the original btw), "Escape to Witch Mountain", "Return to Witch Mountain", "The Wizard of Oz", "Labyrinth" and all of the classic children's Christmas specials, just to name a few. One of the last animated children's movies that I saw and most enjoyed is "Cars". If you have not seen that yet, I highly recommend it! It is very cute and extremely hilarious in many parts. Larry the cable guy as Mater, the tow truck, is fantastic and makes for some knee slapping, eye tearing laughter IMO. w00t [betsyraeduke]
Oh I love The Homeward Bound movie remake...have it...love the wisecracking cat Sassy..LOL, and used to love watching Escape to Witch Mountain..wow it's been years since I've seen that. [pyewacket]

Prsonally, I love watching again the cartoons that made my childhood unforgettable. [davidabraham]
I love watching cartoons as well. I'm a big fan of Tom and Jerry..LOL [pyewacket]
