The reason I am asking is that lately I havent been watching that much Tv and I have it pegged to the fact that I now know that movies arent real.There are so many documentaries and behind the scenes shots which shows you how the movoes are being made and that has somehow taken away some of the mysteries and intrigue from teh movie for me or I think that is what it could be ,I dont know.As a child I was passionately involved in the movie so much so that I would kill the bad guy in real life if I ever caught him because he was hurting my star .Now that I know taht it is all make believe ,it doesnt really matter to me.
Does anyone feel like I do about movies as of late and dont you think we should ban these behind the scenes documetaries and let me enjoy my movie in peace ,I DONT WANTTO KNOW HWO MOVIES ARE MADE ,I WANNA BELIEVE IT IS REAL OK LOL jOKING ?

I think the behind the scenes shows can take some of the mystery and imagination away from the movie. We want to believe it is real when we are watching it so we can get in to it more. I say it is best not to watch them before seeing a movie. On the other hand it can be really interesting to see how they do certain special affects and how the create certain charcters and such. But I would not want to see that before I actually see a movie or else I might be thinking more about how they created that special affect then believing it is real. [ladym33]

Yes I can. In some cases even more than as a kid. Like the movie Labyrinth. Most everything is CGI these days. I love watching this movie. Puppets and all. It still holds magic for me. [ersmommy1]
I think this is an interesting topic. The thing is when we are young we are naive and cannot distinguish fantasy from reality. This I believe is the reason allot of children enjoy watching movies that are in the fantasy genre. When you grow up and have to get up at 6 am and go to work everyday so you can make enough money to feed yourself and pay your bills you lose that child like appreciation for the make believe world of fantasy films. Maybe not all of it, because I still do watch and love allot of the same movies I did when I was younger. The real world is actually much more frightening and bizarre then any fictional piece of literature. When we reach a certain age we are no longer afraid of what lives under our bed or in our closet. We no longer believe in Santa Clause and the Tooth Fairy. Innocence is something that unfortunately we cannot recapture no matter how hard we try, well maybe in our dreams. [EdTv00]
I like those behind the scenes and making of specials. Even if I'm not a kid anymore, I have always enjoyed reading, so when you watch a movie you have to learn to use your imagination and become really into the story or even a part of the story. It's not thinking "aaah, but I saw this was so fake and the actor wasn't really that badass!" but thinking "wow, I'm going to enjoy a really good story! :) [madteaparty]
in my opinion, good movies have their charm at any time. maybe some of the movies i like when i was a child and i don't like it now. but truly that, i will choose to review some of them occasionally. that is a kind of rememory or recovery of the childhood. hah~ i am sure. [chriswolf]
I do enjoy the movies up until now. But the choices of movies that I watch as compared to when I was still a child has changed. Being an adult person, I prefer those movies with good content rather than those that are merely made for fun. I do not really watch behind the scenes production considering that it takes away the thrill.happy. Even if the movies are not real, there are those that surely will make us enjoy. I know what you mean. There have been so many documentaries depicting how movies are made these days that it takes away from the actual film. I am always telling my little girl that movies aren't real whenever she gets scared; so much so that, when I watch one I sometimes start imaging the cameras, the set and how they pulled the special effects off. When we are kids we are innocent and ready to believe anything.When i was a kid i used to watch a lot of Westerns along with my friends and then we would enact those scenes in my friends bungalow which had a big garden.Childhood is a magical period in everyones life and with its innocence and playfulness there is no end to the childs imagination and inventiveness. As we grow up and get caught in worldly matters all the innocence gets washed away in cynicism and disbelief. I do not think that documentaries and behind the scenes shots has anything to do with our loss of interest in films. I too have virtually stopped watching movies since a long time and haven`t visited a movie theatre since 1978 mainly because i had no time to watch them.'After getting TV and cable i did watch movies at home as a novelty but now even that has stopped and nowadays i prefer watching documentaries on Discovery, Animal Planet, Nat Geo and Travel and Living channels as well as the numerous reality shows that have mushroomed on TV. YES. I still loved the movies I watched as I was still a child. I still appreciate movies right now as I appreciate it when I was young. Remember E.T., I still loved it until today. And the longest movie at that time which is "The Ten Commandments". Had a DVD copy collection about them. [Fulltank]

I am a media student and i watch behind the scenes very often to know the techniques and skills used by the director and the other artists in a film... behind the scene shows the real efforts and work of the team in which we all should know and appreciate it. well it is a kind of education to me and knowledge to you. I think you have the wrong ideas about movies. There is no movies now that are made that do not have reality to it. What has happened is that when the making of the movie is taking place it is not happening at that point but the events took place at some time. The writer may take an eerie event and do research then have it played out. Some of these grusome murders, bank robberies, crime of passion, bad dealts gone sour- with regards to drugs, drugs-men and their lifestyles, the raise and fall of some outstanding personalities etc. are made into movies so they are real. Of course , as a child we all had our star and hated the bad man. With maturity, I prefer documentaries since I am being informed in a positive manner and as I said earlier in another question and answer session I can deal with the issues better than in a movie where I am very emotional and scared. When we were child,we are innocent and always believe the scenes or actors are the real ones. When I grow up, I know many behind the movie scene but still can enjoy the movies. Just don't think too much when you watching and follow the story to imagine.That will be ok. [hhmfw0]
I still enjoy watching movies though i know it's not real.I think movies serve to entertain and relax people and probably by chance you can learn something from them.It all depends on your attitude towards movies.My advice is that you should be totally relaxed when watching movies and don't always ask for purpose.And choose movies that you are really interested in. Yes I still apreciate movies the way I did as a child.The point of watching movies for me is to be transported away into a Happy make believe world away from reality(which is harsh) ,like a fairy tale world in the movies ,where in the end everybody lives happily ever after and there is victory.Watching movies is a good timepass for me.As long as I am watching movies I am happy that its not a real life thing.Yesterday I was watching Kung fu panda and I enjoyed it so much ,for a moment my mother thought I transformed into a child enjoying cartoons lol but I can't help it ,the movie had such high standards of animation effects even though in real life a Panda would die with all that Kung fu shots but still it was so hilarious that I enjoye the movie.Also,I appreciate and have always appreciated from childhood good quality movies liek ones with good animation effects and decor etc ,the story is not all that important for me ,real or not doesn;t matter much. Banning behind the scenes documentaries seems to be going a bit far. You can choose not to watch them and/or pretend they don't exist. Honestly, I rarely use any of the special features that come on DVDs/BluRay. I have found that my perspective on movies has changed since "growing up" but in a different way. My parents always reminded me movies weren't real when I was younger so it was just a means of entertainment. It still is but in a different way. Before I liked just the stories. Now I try to find all the hidden easter eggs, popculture nods, deeper meanings, etc. Oh, the stories are still good though. [thenieruz]
I think that I have more appreciation for movies now than I did as a child. They have more meaning and understanding. Kids seem to only remember the fun in a movie or the big car chases. [sender621]
I can appreciate them the same way in the sense that I have that same feeling of excitement when going to see a new movie, yes. The way I enjoy them though is very different. Also, I don't get excited about watching made for tv movies any more. Its mainly the theater movies that I go to, and when I do I usually don't buy candy and popcorn the way I did as a child (or my parents did for me that is). I simply go for the movie. [josga2008]
Well the movie is usually better when you go the theatre because there is a certain sight smell taste and ambience to it so I guess that improves the movie quality [ronnyb]
To answer your first question Ronny, I believe we cannot enjoy the movies as we did as a child. We are now viewing it from more mature eyes. That should not however stop us from enjoying them. Yes they are staged; yes they are make belief; yes they are pretending but it done for us the viewers. The human mind needs to be entertained. There is nothing like sitting and enjoying a good movie. We can now look at movies out of the realm of fairytale and use the new found info we got from the behind the scenes documentaries and crtically analyse the producers use of special effects and how creative the scenes flowed into one another or what could have been done to make a particular scene more effective and so forth. Let us not allow the fact that movies aren't to rob us of its entertaining factor. [wenjule]

I can't enjoy films like I used to when I was a child becvause I have seen so many films since I was a little girl. There are so many plots I reckonize and then i Know the rest of the plot. when I was young, the plots were new. But I still believe in the magic of film. I won't see the Behind the scene documentary until After I have senthe film.But on the other hand , I can Truly appreciate more films now that I'm grown.there are so many genres I can see now that were forbidden to me as a child.So it's a give and take. I can still appreciate movies but lost the same fascination when I was still younger. I only watch movies right now if it has a good plot and a wonderful director, I am not particular anymore who starred the film. I did not watch television too often now I find it boring and most of the show are dull-witted, I prefer to surf the internet rather than watch television. [jlamela]
I find that i still really love the old movies i loved as a kid - however movies that are new coming out i find are either remakes that wreck the show...or movies that the story is just totally lacking. Theres some new ones i enjoy but very few. I really like knowing how movies are made. [saundyl]
