Comedy,drama,horror,biography,or Animated

What type do you prefer when it comes to a movie? I like to watch a variety of movies but I do tend to lean towards a comedy or horror movie. It kind of depends on my mood though. Oh..I musn't forget westerns! I never really liked those until I watched Tombstone. Now I give those a shot as well. Which ones do you lean towards and which ones do you just not watch?

responses and comments:

A watchable movie falls into only one category as far as I am concerned. It has to be interesting and engrossing and must do justice to the plot. That's it.I will watch movie of any genre provided it is simple good and well made. [balasri]
Yes, I feel the same way as well! [mysdianasshat]

i lean alot towards comedy adn horror aswell. only problem is its hard to actually find a good horror movie alot of them are just lame. i also like romantic comedies. and im sure alot of people would hate me for this but i just cant stand movies like star wars and star trek and those sorts of movies. i just dont go near them [denise002]
Hi denise! I agree about the horror movies. Some of them are just plain corny. Good comedys are hard to come by too. Some of them are ridiculous. I liked Star Wars when I was younger but I don't have a lot of interest in it now. I really liked that movie Serpentidity as a love/comedy. If you haven't watched it you should if you get a chance. Thanks for the response. [JenInTN]

I enjoy all sorts of movies genres but my all time fav is definately horror and thrillers....next in line would be action with drama a close runner up...Oddly enough as much as I love comedies I have to be in the mood to watch them...Whereas horror and thrillers I'm ALWAYS in the mood LOL [Ravenladyj]
LOL...I'm always in the mood for those too. I want to see that new movie out The Unborn. I may try and go watch it. Thanks for responding. [JenInTN]

Hello JenInTN! Well, among those choices, I would love to watch horror movies. But if I will rate them all I would rank them from highest to lowest. 1.horror - that's my favorite 2.comedy 3.drama 4.biography 5.animated [aisaellis22]
yes, you're right..there's always exception..sometimes it really depends upon our moods... [aisaellis22]

Well, for me, whatever genre doesn't matter at all as long as the movie makes sense. It doesn't have to be expensively-produced or with famous actors and actresses but something that could touch the lives of the viewers. I mean, a movie that is not just for entertainment but something that you can learn from. [kaitan]
Thanks for responding kaitan. Movies sometimes have a way of touching the lives of others. [JenInTN]

This is what I would say if I were to rank my movie type liking. The first rank would obviously go to Comedy- nothing makes me happier than a good comedy movie. Seconly, I like horror- it is especially great to watch a horror flick with your girl. Action and thriller kind of movies intrest me but I would want them to be very good and believable. What I totally cannot accept is perhaps super-hero movies. I dont like them very much. I liked Slumdog millionaire, it is the most recent film that I have watched. It has got 10 oscar nominations this year. It is directed by danny boyle. Also the director of 28 weeks later- which is again one of the best zombie movies I have ever seen considering the fact that many zombie movies are so appaling that it pisses you off. [djemba]
I really liked that 28 weeks later too. I recently watched a zombie movie called Diary of the Dead I bet you would like. It is set up as these people taping their experiences "live" to share with the world. It's really really good for a zombie movie. You should check it out. Thanks for the reponse. [JenInTN]

Hi there! It depends on my mood. But if I have too much stress at work, and too much stress at home, taking care of my twin daughters, following up on their home works, tutoring them for advance lessons, cooking lunch and dinner, whew! The list is endless. Then, it will help me to watch comedy films like white chicks. That movie never ceases to amaze me. It's a therapy, actually! Romantic comedy is worth watching as well. Animated films can be watched with my twins. Horror movies is a no-no when the kids are with me... but we do watch Ghost Whisperer! LOL! [margaux08]
Gee, thanks! I needed that. never heard that "Take care" thing for so long... You too... Happy myLotting! [margaux08]

How about suspense? Or does that come under drama? Those are the ones I like best, not horror, just good old who done it. Enjoy [savypat]
Hi savypat! I should have added suspense as a category all it's own. I like suspense too. I especially like it when I really have no clue who done it until the end.lol. Thanks for responding. [JenInTN]

I like science fiction, not horror, don't like scary movies. I do like animated ones, some romances, action and comedies. [ElicBxn]
Yes science fiction opening our mind that whatever could happened so. Just like The Fly. And I love X men too [kholid78]

Same here, I love watching horror movies..though sometimes it can get the best of my imagination. lol. I also like watching chick flicks. hehe. [donsky14]
No prob! happy [donsky14]

As long as the movie is well written, well acted, well directed and well edited and can draw me into it, I am happy with just about any genre. Like you, I was not into westerns for a long time, until I saw Silverado when it was released. After that, I started viewing more westerns. [MonkOVision]
I liked that one too MonkOVision! After Tombstone I started giving them a chance. They are very different now than they used to be. Thanks for responding. [JenInTN]

To me there is nothing like a good comedy! I loved all the Grumpy old men movies....Uncle Buck.....some of the older ones. And now I saw a preview of a movies I really want to see...New in the neighborhood or something like that. I'll have to watch the commercial better today and hope to see it. [jillhill]
Hi jillhill! I loved the Grumpy old men! You should watch that Road trip. It's got martan Lawrence and Raven in it. It's funny. Thanks for responding. [JenInTN]

i love watching romantic movies haha! i also enjoy comedy, adventure, drama and family movies. i don't really like horror and sci-fi movies though.doh [kevsgirlalways]
Oh yes..romantic movies can be very nice. Some people just don't get into horror movies so your not alone. Thanks for responding. [JenInTN]

How about the adventure one? Just like Indiana jones series, The Mummy return series. I prefer them. They give me some idea to do something. [kholid78]
Hi kholid! I should've added adventure too! I like the Indiana Jones movies too! I thought National Treasure was pretty good too. Thanks for responding ! [JenInTN]

well someof the movie is not fit to look at that they are making today so i like a varity of different movies.i like my science fiction,my drama, and i like soft horror more of a suspense then anything.i like documentary of different things.and yes i like cartoons there i said it.i like spongebob. [annjilena]
Hi annjilena! I like Spongebob too...but I'm especially fond of that Perry the Platypus my girls watch..lol..I've always had a thing for the Platypus. I like a softer creepier type horror movie too. I watched a biography about Betty Page a couple of months ago that was really good. Thanks for the response. [JenInTN]

My list of least interest, would go something like this. - Animated -ugh - only if i have to - Sci Fi - While I appreciate the special effects in many, I guess I am too old and grumpy to be Star Warszing the Galaxy, although does Predator fall into this category? cuz i loved that one. Especially the soundtrack. And I did like the old TV Star Wars series. I still get a kick out of seeing the plastic and chrome type furniture and the Pin Ball machine type lights and controls at the helm. And for some reason I still like to see an episode of Lost In Space, if it's one from the first couple of years. - you likely don't remember Lost In Space?...an age thing.. - Horror - this one is grey area for me. It really depends. Some are ok, others are great. Last night I watched one that I don't know if it was even considered a horror, but was called The Breed. Was pretty silly-unbelievable in places, but still kept your attention here and there. (although it really put dogs in a dim light :( ( - Biography - depends on who - these can be really well done - Comedy - really depends - this one covers so much area - there is Monty Python type humour (ugh) and then there is Jerry Seinfeld or George Carlin types. - Humorous Dramas - I prefer ones that incorporate humour if it is done well. One Flew Over The Cuckoos Nest, one of the best ever in this class - Rainman is another one of my favourite movies that has this, even though I don't really like Tom Cruise at all, he did well in it, and of course Dustin Hoffman was terrific as is usually the case. As Good As It Gets, is another sort of in this category. - Dramas - Forrest Gump type - or is this a fictional type of Biography? anyway, it was great, one of my favs - Red Rock West is another - and Fargo - Goodfellas...altho again sort of a fictional biography? Lots in this group of course.. Some of these I can see again and again and don't seem to tire of them. (as long is there is at least a year or more between them) How do you feel about seeing a movie more than once, Jen? I had an old GF that refused to watch ANY movie or TV show if she had seen it previously. It didn't matter if she loved it. She would pout if the circumstances were such that she had to endure watching it again. I remember we were suppose to go to a mutual friend's place for the evening once... It was a couple's evening, chat, a few drinks, watch a couple of movies that one of us picked out (my friend's GF) And it didn't matter if she liked it originally or couldn't even remember ANYTHING about the movie or what happens next! She would let her evening be tarnished by it, haha but sad She use to drive me batty. [plunketear]
Thanks for BR, Jen! The next time I see any of these movies we've chatted about here, I will think of you :) ....and wish we were sharing popcorn checkin' 'em out.. [plunketear]

The types of movies that I enjoy most are Mysteries. I've always enjoyed this genre of movies, ever since I was a kid. I've enjoyed watching them, and reading them. I can't really explain what it is, but they've always captivated me. I also enjoy Drama and biographies a lot. It's another thing that interests me quite a bit. [dodo19]
Heyya dodo... I like mysteries too. As long as they keep me on my toes. Biographies are good to but it has to be someone that intrigues me for me to want to watch it to begin with. Thanks for responding. [JenInTN]

I mostly like the comedy movies and also the animated once. I like movies which are for happy people with happy endings without and sad or serious matters or scary movies. I just like plain or comedy movies which will make me laugh after a long tired some day. Movies are supposed to make you enjoy not cry so I choose only the comedy movies which makes me laugh [pmspratik]
I have to be in the mood for a tear jerker. I don't like them much either. I think it's nice to get a good laugh when you need one. Thanks for responding. [JenInTN]

Comedy and adventures FTW! Not only new films though, I am still laughing with the "Naked Gun" series, Mel Brooks' movies etc.. :P [dinos1]
Hi dinos! I've seen a couple of the Naked Guns. Are you a fan of the Airplanes too? I think if I chose it would be the Naked Guns. Thanks for the response. [JenInTN]

All kinds of movies are fine but my top favorite would be comedy.. in this time of crisis, we need something that can help us alleviate some stress somehow.. and that is by watching comedy tv shows, films, etc.. I also like love/romance type of movies.. [gracie04]
Hi gracie! I use movies as a way to "get away" too. I like watching things that take my mind off things sometimes. I hate to watch the news sometimes. Thanks for responding. [JenInTN]

I like most movie genre's when I think about it - most important is the storyline. My favourite is probably horror, although I do like thrillers, dramas and romantic comedies too. I can't say I'm a big fan of science fiction. I tend to dislike science fiction even in regular tv programs in addition to movies [UK_Shree]
I like all kinds of movies too. I just like a good one no matter what type it is. Thanks for responding and take care. [JenInTN]

Hey :D By my name im sure you know what I like lol. But I love sci fi, fantasy, horror, comedy, drama, westerns, B rated movies lol. I dont watch chick flicks, well not by myself anyway lol. Though there was one, I cant remember the name of it now, but I was looking for another one and downloaded the wrong one, that turned out to be a chick flick and it was actually good. *shifty eyes* shhh dont tell the guys ok hehe. [darkjedi]
LOL..I meant Little_stormy is out to get you..it's early...lol..wouldn't want you to think someone else was out to get the info too.LOL. [JenInTN]

No matter what mood iim in the TV show "family guy" always makes me laugh it so funny from the very childish quick jokes to the jokes that take a whole episode to set up it will be a future classic. As foe movies I love "Hot Fuzz" just for the little quips thatcome out during the most seroius of gun fights, its amazing. [smurfuk76]
I haven't seen Hot Fuzz. I'll have to check that out. Is it a western or action movie? Thanks for the response. [JenInTN]

i am not much for drama. i think it is a guy thing. har har har. glad that my wife is not for drama either. she does not watch soap opera like my mom or like my sisters do. we both like comedy-action films. she does not like much of horror movies and she only watches it if she has someone to watch with who screams loud. har har har. she does not like to watch horror movies with people who are quiet. she laughs loud when the person starts screaming. animated check, comedy check, action check, biography check, suspence check, about law or something like CSI check. [se7enthbird]
Hello my friend. It's good you and your wife share the same taste in movies. Sounds like you like just about anything but a horror or drama..Thanks for responding. [JenInTN]

Hey Jen! Well, I prefer a comedy usually! I like to be entertained and I can always use a good laugh! I don't like the stupid comedys though. I like the comedys that have a story line of some sort. I also like dramas with good story lines. I don't like horror movies at all! I don't want to watch gory, blood and guts all over types of movies! That to me is not entertainment! [Opal26]
Heyya Opal! I like a good tasteful comedy too. It's hard to find those sometimes. Thanks for responding. [JenInTN]

Comedy Romance Romantic comedy love is funny like that! [Little_Stormy]
Heyya little_stormy...I like those too. It seems you've shaken up that Dark Jedi..He'll never tell..LOL!Thanks for response. [JenInTN]

Recently, A lot of my friends and I seem to be watching a lot of anime. It has so much more variety and I prefer fiction so this is good for me. Although I do follow with the latsest movies, especially action, comedy and sometimes horror. [bossladdy]
I've been watching some adult swim from time to time when I stay up//I guess the b/f is breaking me into the anime.lol..There's a couple of more people on here that say they like it too now. [JenInTN]

i like drama, love a mystery, don't care for horror or animated, like some biographies. [ANTIQUELADY]
I watched her documentary about a month ago. Last one I watched. [JenInTN]

Comedy, enough drama and sad in the life!!!! sometimes Biography [gie2910]
No problem. I always follow up. Take care. [JenInTN]

I would have to say that I prefer a good drama. I don't know, I really love a movie that is a big tear jerker. I also like a good comedy too. They are great when I need a smile. My dad was always a big western fan and I never really were into westerns, but I loved Lonesome Dove. [singlemommy]
I like a good drama sometimes. I don't really like to cry.lol...And I always do. Thanks for the response. [JenInTN]

i enjoy lots of different movies, my first choice would probably be drama, then horror and then comedy [poppoppop111]
I'm pretty versatile too. I like a little variety. Thanks for responding. [JenInTN]

I watch a variety of it as you said and I prefer comedies a little bit more..But good movies are a priority..Don't have any category I don't watch at all as who knows it may have a good movie and I may miss it out..Mood does matter when it comes to watching a movie...Have a nice day! [arthi_88]
Mood often drives my choices for a movie, your right. I like to be open to different genres so as not to miss out on a really good one. Thanks for the response. [JenInTN]

I love horror... comedy is second. [histechnoangel]
I like those too. Do you have any favorites you'd like to share? Thanks for responding. [JenInTN]

I won't say that I am a great movie buff, but since a few months, there hadn't passed a day when I didn't watch a movie. I like all kinds of movies and love to watch them, as they act as a god stress buster for me. I am great fan of animated movies and so tend to watch more of that, and also the comedies. A laugh is a pretty good way to shed some stress and enjoy a while. When I am at hostel, sometimes I even go up to watching 3-4 movies a day. Take Care God Bless YOU [raphael_volts]
That's true..there are no laws where anime is concerned.lol. [JenInTN]

I love fantasy movies! They are the best! Too bad they are so few... I like those like Harry Potter, The Lord of the Rings, Pirates of the Caribbean and others like that. Also except those, I watch comedy movies mostly. Any movies that make me laugh are great :) I used to like horror movies, too, but not anymore... and the drama type is just too common and boring, I only watch them when there's nothing else on tv. I can't stand old movies or french ones and those japanese ones that only have fights on them and no storyline at all. [moonlight_dream]
I really liked Lord of the Rings! Harry Potter and Pirates of the Caribbean were pretty good too. I'm ok with japanese fighting movies but I don't like the ones where their mouth moves first and then the words come out.lol..Thanks for the response. [JenInTN]

I like to watch a variety of movies. I tend to lean more towards action/drama. I love reading sci fi/fantasy, but there really aren't many good movies that fall in that category. I didn't care much for Star Wars myself. I liked the old Star Trek, but I am NOT a Trekkie. I think they went way overboard with all the Star Trek continuations. I like a good, solid comedy. Not slapstick or Stooges type. I like some humor in all kinds of movies. A good wisecrack in the middle of a tense scene adds to the flavor. I also like some of the tearjerkers. Like Beaches. Stories about friendships that last, no matter what. [snowcat46]
I love grumpy old men kinda comedys.lol [JenInTN]

I suppose that I lean toward the action movies more than anything else. I also like the fantasy epics (Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, etc.). That said, I tend to watch a decent variety of genres - comedies, dramas, action/adventure, etc. I am not a big fan of bio-pics, war movies, and westerns. War movies just tend to be depressing for me. It isn't the fighting and death so much as the cause of the fighting and death, I suppose. I did enjoy one 'war' movie - Heartbreak Ridge with Clint Eastwood. It is not a typical war movie, though it is written around a very real military engagement. Generally, I do not rule out any movie because of its genre. If the individual movie looks like it appeals to me, I might give it a shot. [thorgrym]
I'm the same way. I like to mix it up. As far as war movies go..I can take them or leavr them but they do tend to make me feel a bit down. I liked the one Saving Private Ryan pretty good though. Thanks for the response. [JenInTN]

Horror is my all time favorite. Then drama and action and comedys. I dont watch the war or romantic movies. Science fiction is ok, it just depends on the movie. [snoopy04]
Heyya snoopy. Horror does have a way of attracting my interest a bit more sometimes. Thanks for responding. [JenInTN]

Dear friend, I do hope to watch any good movie evaluated the overall quality and satisfaction I received from watching that movie. I do like comedy most and also other areas like drama, horror or any other aspects provided it is really to be appreciated. Moreover I would like to all types of movies provided it has a better quality that gives me a satisfaction.happy [SHAMRACK]
I agree. Any movie of good quality is the movie for me. Mood helps with my descision too.T Thanks for responding Shamrack! [JenInTN]

i like all the above except for biography. my first two choices are comedy and horror. i like movies that has ghost in it or killing. it actually teaches me to be more alert and if the those movies that has this voodoo kind of things in it are my first choice cause we learn about the new kind of charms that exist. [nornik]
thanks pal. it was a pleasure exchanging movies info. [nornik]

Me love Dramas and Foreign (subtitled) flicks. wub Me like Action flicks and Comedy. Me tolerates Westerns and Mystery/Suspense. Me don't prefer Sci-Fi and Musicals (but West Side Story and Jesus Christ Superstar are too good to pass up). Me hates Opera (shudder ). Really, really hate it. [penny78]
I have watched some subtitlted flicks before. I liked a couple. I wouldn't mind an opera live if it was just once.lol. thanks for responding. [JenInTN]

I like to watch a variety of films depending on my mood or who is with me. As a family we all enjoy the James Bond films. It makes a nice change sometimes to watch the PG ones for the children or over Christmas. I quite like scarey ones in the comfort of my own home and the more unlifelike (or rather unlikemylifelike) the better - like sci fi or in the deep woods - so that I can still sleep when I go to bed and don't have to leave the light on! My husband does not like these though so I have to choose something else if I want him to stay in the room. [magicalmerlin]
LOL..Can't run the hubby out to much. I like that new Bond movie where he's in casino playing Texas Holdem. It was really good. Thanks for the response. [JenInTN]

I love the good horror movies, I also love to read anything by Stephen King or Dean Koontz, the books are so much better but the movies are great also.. I don't really care for all of the blood, guts and gore, I have enough of an imagination to know when someone is killed, stabbed or murdered in some horrendous way without anyone showing me all of the gory details.. So, for me it is horror stories without all of the blood.. [DonnaLawson]
I liked Thinner too. I have read ALOT of Stephen King books. I liked IT alot. It was slow starting out but his books often are. I was disapointed with the movie after the book. I'm only on the second story right now of Everything's Eventual. The first one was different to say the least.lol. [JenInTN]

I love comedy, drama, horror, and animee. I love animee and comedy. I guess that I watch a lot of animee as of late. But it's always interesting. [bellaofchaos]
Thanks..I will. [JenInTN]

I like a variety of movies, as long as they are done well. Some animated films are incredible and surprise me. I always liked Tombstone, too. [mysdianasshat]

Hi dear i like Horror Movies Comedy Movies Adventourous Movies Action movies Karate Movies of Brice Lee, Jet lee etc not like All anuimated movies , but sure some are Good Take care [cupid74]
hmmmm i like the actionm thrilll and sure some romance in those movieshappy [cupid74]

My vote will always go to comedy. I love to laugh and make others smile. Comedy takes us into a new world where we just forget everything and keep enjoying the laughter and more laughter..........lol!! And I believe, that the laughter is the best medicine. Some of the comedy moview are so superb that you can watch them time and again. I do not profer seeing a horror movie. [dpk262006]
So we think alike and our choice is also similar about comedy movies.lollol [dpk262006]

I am not crazy about Horror movies or documentary types. But love most other types of movies. If the story, or plot looks good, then I will try it. I love the action adventure types and science fiction best! I want my movies to have action and a bit of humor in them. I watch for entertainment (like I read), so I want fun and excitement usually. [quinnkl]
I like a good action movie too. I really liked the Indiana Jones movies. I also liked National Treasure. Nothing like a good action flick. Thanks for responding. [JenInTN]

I'm not much for horror movies. I like Science Fiction, comedy, romance, drama, musical, biography, animated, pretty much anything that has a plot. If the story is stupid, you lose me... [dawnald]
I don't like the stupid ones either. I'm versatile but not that versatile. Thanks for responding. [JenInTN]

I prefer horror movies because the scenes are very interesting it thrills you to the edge and my attention is really glued to the screen. I am more excited to watch horror films than any other genre. [jlamela]
I like horror movies too. I get excited when I'm going to watch one. Thanks for the response. [JenInTN]

Hello I like to watch Horror movies and my boyfriend likes Animated. I have to say some of the animated are really good. Some you have to read. Some are so sad they make me cry. I never thought that I could cry from reading a movie. I have become to really like Animated movies. But I won't tell him that hehe. Have an awesome day. [patriciaqualls]
I like some of the animated movies too. My b/f likes them too. I like horror movie but he doesn't like them as much. Thanks for the response. [JenInTN]

I watch horror movies myself. Real good ones that get all creepy and suspensful. I guess I just like the rust that they give me. Or maybe the crazy story line on the what if? And I say to myself, yeah, that would be messed up if that happened. But horror movies are safe, not real. Next, a good comedy is always good to take my mind off of things and relax. Actions do the same thing for me. [oldmanhorrorfan]
I love a good creepy horror film that keeps you on your toes! I like comedies as a second choice or just when I feel like a good laugh. Thanks for the response. [JenInTN]

It depends on the mood. Sometimes, it is more along the lines of docu-drama or something to that extent. Usually, we are just seeking out something we have not seen, and if it is original, even more of a plus. [UtopianIdealist]
I'm like you in that aspect. I like a unique movie that keeps me on my toes. I think it's hard sometimes to find that because they've made a movie about almost everything. Thanks for your response. [JenInTN]

i like comedy and i like drama some sfe horror,i do like some biography and some animated movie i do like.i love movie wspeacilly if they are good. [annjilena]
Hi annjilena! I like a little of everything too. I think mixing it up keeps things new. Thanks for responding! [JenInTN]

HI frnd, I will watch any kind of movies when it comes to me.When i am going with friends to theatres so i will enjoy more, happy and good entertainment to me.I will watch movies in my computer also. When i get bored so i will watching any movies my favorite movie only. [23uday]
Hi 23uday! That's one thing I haven't tried yet is watching a movie on my computer. I know a lot of people do though. Maybe I'll try it this weekend. What website do you use to watch them from? [JenInTN]

I like funny comedy movies only and watch other genre also sometimes. However, I hate horror movies. [suruchi86]
There are a lot of people that don't like them. I love comedies too. Thanks for the response. [JenInTN]

hi jenin, i am totaly different from u. i love comedy and horror. i never concern with my mood if i have enough time to enjoy a movie. comedy, specialy indian comedy, have u ever seen it? totaly funny.hehehelol [shibham]
I love comedys and horror movies too! It does depend on my mood as to what I chose though. I have never seen an indian comedy thoughsad Do you have a favorite you would suggest me to watch? Thanks for responding. [JenInTN]

Hi there JenInTN! I like watching a variety of movies. It all depends on several things like my mood, the reviews I read about the movie, and who are the actors and actresses. My boyfriend and I love comedy movies most of the time and so that's what we watch together. On my own though, I tend to watch drama and also suspense or horror films. [dolce_vita78]
My guy isn't much into the horror movies either..lol..he likes dramas and suspense mostly. Oh and yes..comedy movies are another we watch together. I usually watch my horror movies with my oldest daughter because she likes them as much as I do. Thanks for responding. [JenInTN]
