I am quite disappointed with the outcome of X-men origins: Wolverine. They claimed that it will show where Wolverine originated and how the other extraordinary men, including Wolverine, got their powers and everything, but the movie did not speak with it.
It did not tell how Wolverine became wolverine, it only shown him as a young boy and no other else, where he got his power as a young boy, did not included in the movie.

I am a bit apprehensive to hear that, because I have read a review from IMDB.com and it says that the movie is great, and comparable to the X-Men Trilogy. And I am going to see that movie tomorrow afternoon with my friends. It's a movie I really looked forward too. But then I personally think that they have explained it why Wolverine became like that, even in X-Men 2 where the experiment of Striker about him was revealed. In the trailer of X-Men Origins: Wolverine, I inferred that they will be able to complete the whole identity of wolverine. dear the title of the movie is wolverine so the story has to circle around him and regarding the x men origins part it did show that the mutants were aired out of the island by professor x, what disappoints me is like when they show that wolverine was part of all the world wars so even the one in vietnam so what does that make him like more than a hundred years old and also the part where sabretooth broke his bone claws how did it grew back when he had the adamantium planted to him. sabretooth is also with magneto on part 1 of x men so i was wondering how did it turn out that sabretooth does not recognise wolverine, also not that great sfx and the movie was just to please those who are craving for more of x men but whoaah hugh jackman got buff on this one. Whether it is disappointing or not, I will still watch the movie and buy a DVD copy of it. I have only read a few comics stories of X-men so I will try to learn more about them in the movies. As for the origins of Wolverine, some of it have been tackled in the X-men trilogy, right? What I am really expecting to see is his childhood, why he ended up with the experimentation, etc... And the powers? They have it because they are mutants. What I am interested to know is how one becomes a mutant. [eichs1]
I hate to say it but I completely dissagre with you. I watched this movie and as a Marvel or more importantly X-Men fan, I thought that they did a very good job. You do learn where wolverine gets his powers from, not everone that is why it is call Wolverine. If you didn't get how he got his powers, I doubt very strongly that you even watched it, and if you did, I would have to say that you were not paying attention at all. Aside from the fact that we learn Wolverine's origins, we also get to learn about some other characters like Gambit and a few others. I think that seeing him as a young boy with powers makes it pretty clear that it is something he was born with. I guess it all depends on how much attention you were playing. I think like I said that this was a very well done movie and I think that it definately gave us a better idea of what Wolverine is like. [CRIVAS]
I don't know if you pay attention to my discussion, but what I am trying to point out is that the movie did not hold on to what their intention supposed to be, that is to present the origin of Wolverine. If we talk about ORIGIN that means a summary of explanation how they got their powers, but it only show how striker put steel on Hugh Jackman's hands, but his origin as a young boy did not. I, myself liked the movie. The beginning of it was great, and I wasn't disappointed in the least. It left room for the imagination, although I'm sure the comics explain a lot more. If you're a true X-MEN Fan, you already know to the answers to your questions! And I'm not sure where you got those claims from - I guess you expected it to be something else but it's not. And I'm sorry to hear that. TO answer some of your questions; Wolverine is just Wolverine- he's a mutant (like all the other X-men). So their powers are in their genes - I suggest watching the first X-men movie. So technically, none of the X-men got their powers from anywhere, it's in their genes! They're mutants! It's called X-men Origins:Wolverine because it's ONLY Wolverine's story and nobody else! So the claim about all the other X-men I'm not sure where you got that from. I enjoyed the movie - loved it in fact! =D And would love to see it again, and dissect it some more - to determine any clues to the next installment. If you're a TRUE X-MEN fan, you should go see it. Ya it did, I don't know what you were doing while the movie was on, but it clearly shows Wolverine's origins. His mutant powers are just like most of the other mutants, they have there powers from birth, and as they grow older and mature, they come to realize they are different from most people. It showed you that Wolverine has existed for years and years through an epic montage of wars and battles. Then it also lays out how his skeleton was changed into adenenmite or however that metal is spelled. Did you fall asleep during the movie? Perhaps you just did not understand it. The purpose of the movie was to show us where Wolverine came from (hence the title), and it did exactly that. We saw his rage, we saw the time spent in Canada, and we saw his skeletal transformation. It answered so many questions that the X-men movies begged, I don't know how anyone could be disappointed with such a great film. The plot was great, there was always rising actions, the mise en scene was spectacular, and the special effects were brilliant. I suggest you go and watch it again if you didn't understand it thoroughly enough the first time through. [j00nior]

I personally loved the movie. It was great!! I'm sorry some of you were disapointed with it. I didn't really even want to go see it at first... I thought it would be stupid and boring because I don't really like comic books so the first impression i had about it was that it was going to be bad. But so far every movie like based off a comic book I have absolutely loved it. But my fiance wanted to see it and I told him I would go see it and I don't regret it one bit! [cbirdsell]
I think you missed the whole idea of x-men, all of them. Mutants are born that way. Wolverine was sick as a child because his body was building up immunities. When they put that alien metal in his body, that strengthened what he already had as a child. His mutant gene was the ability to heal himself, hence he cannot die. They also showed why wolverine does not trust easily. He lost his memory but gets bits and pieces of all the bad stuff. He has to trust his instincts which is not to trust others. [sergeantrom]

I think they only dealth with how Wolverine lost his memories... in terms of answering that question... they were successful... but in terms of telling it... well they could have done a better job... there were so many characters... that it was difficult to relate to even one of them... i hope the case is not the same with Magneto's background... I thought it was a fantastic movie, well directed, well shot, excellent stunts, great story. As others have pointed out Logan was born with his powers which were then enhanced by Stryker in the Weapon X project. The film tells the origin of Wolverine (as opposed to Logan) by letting you know where the name Wolverine came from, why he is called Wolverine and also why he has no memories in the first X-Men film. Apparently Sabretooth does show some sign of recognition in the first film but I've yet to rewatch it to verify this. I think there were too many characters in the film and some of them weren't used as well as they could have been (like Gambit). Obviously Deadpool was introduced to start his own series of movies off but Blob and Dominic Monaghan's character weren't really needed, their lines could've gone to another of the characters without affecting the movie. ....WHAT are you talking about? I didn't even see the movie yet, even though I am VERY excited to at a later date, but even I know that it does show "where" he got his power. His skeletal bones provides him with his healing power, right? Well with that healing power, it also makes sure he doesn't age like the rest of us, like his Brother Viktor, or Victor, not sure how they spell it in the movie, ANYWAYS, also not sure why he can make his bones into claws, but again, haven't seen the movie. They go through the ages, a couple pf wars, and then the big man himself, the army dude, performed military experiments on James (Wolverine), extracting his bones, and replacing them with the adamantium, (have NO clue if I spelled this correctly, but you KNOW what I mean), and because of his healing powers, he didn't die, I would assume the SHOCK and TRAUMA alone would affect anyone, but not our Canadian Mutant! NO SIR REE! I know it begins with him as a child, to show his background, like with his family, going through the ages, his PAST, which alludes him in the previous xmen movies, hence the prequel for him. Hi, I'm a graphic novel junkie lol. I hope that explains it for yah! I was so excited when I heard they were making a Wolverine movie. He and Gambit were my two favorite characters from the comics, and Wolverine was by far the best written and one of the best acted characters in the X-Men franchise. I thought, "This should be good!" I counted down the days until it came out. And I went to the theatre, and came out not disappointed, but not excited either. It was a middle-of-the-road movie, which seemed to not know what it wanted to be. But I would say go see it if you're an X-Men or Hugh Jackman fan. The main crime committed in Wolverine is in the writing. I always say writers don't get enough credit on a good movie. But no amount of good acting (pretty much everyone in Wolverine does well with what they're given) and okay directing can cover up crappy writing like this. The script was all over the place. It didn't have any of the jaunty yet edgy feel of the first two X-Men movies. Wolverine's wisecracks and smart wit were all but forgotten. That would've maybe been okay if they had chosen to make Wolverine the dark, nearly evil character that he was supposed to have been before he lost his memory. But they didn't. He was neither good nor evil. This was ambivalent Wolverine. Kind of Emo Wolverine. Not above doing bad, but not really into it because it made him Feel Bad. No really interesting lines or plot points either way. The writers didn't seem to even know how to develop the relationship between Wolverine and Sabertooth. And was the love story put in by the studio just to satisfy us chicks who wouldn't go a see a comic-book movie without it? If so, the studio did us a great disservice, because if you wanted to make a story about Wolverine the lover (which, hey, I would go see), this movie wasn't that either. And when I saw in the trailer that Gambit was in the movie, too, I was thrilled! Gambit in a movie, at last! But here he is, the underdeveloped and kind of confusing Gambit. Couldn't he at least have had his New Orleans accent? The cards were cool, but he was mostly underutilized and didn't feel like Gambit that much. The movie does have some good moments in it where you actually say, "Yes!" I'm not putting spoilers, so I won't tell you what they are, but for me, they made the movie worth seeing. While I wouldn't put it anywhere on my worst-movie list, I wouldn't rank it with X-Men and X2 on my favorites list, either. [zangozango]
