I just finished watching "Happy Feet" on dvd (love the music and singing) and now I am going to watch another called "The Ant Bully". I love watching children's movies and often find myself watching them when my son is in bed asleep or at school or when I can't find anything interesting on tv to watch.
Do you do this too? What children's movies have you watched on your own lately?
[question posted by maddysmommy]
responses and comments:
well first of all those movies arn't just for kids, of course there geard toward children but there meant for everyone im sure when they made those movies they hoped that everyone would enjoy them that includes adults i think thats a big miss conception about children's films but to answer your question yes, i love fun animated films i watch them all the time i love the little mermaid and Aladdin beauty and the beast and shrek finding nemo and more i think its cool that you can still find joy in those kinds of films a good film is a good film even if its a childrens film so cheers to you lol. [apples99]
It's certainly true that "anime" (Japanese animated films & shorts) is not geared toward children (mostly). Often they're graphically violent or sexual, or just have themes ONLY an adult would care about, such as deep relationships. So, be warned, & beware. That SAID, the Japanese have raised animation's bar to an art form that even DISNEY & Pixar have never achieved. If you'd like some great examples of that, obtain a DVD of "Graveyard of the Fireflies," a semi-autobiographical story of a teen boy & his toddler sister in Post-WW2 Japan. Speaking of warnings, have at least one box of Kleenex handy. It's so sad...but it is deep, & gorgeous, & you will =never= forget it. Or try "Place Promised," another extravagantly beautiful film about a future place which covers the friendship of some children, & what becomes of their relationships when they mature. That just doesn't begin to tell you why the film is so captivating. The music ALONE...! Or then there's the cute story "Kiki's Delivery Service," about a young girl who's a witch, done by the same artist who made the breathtaking "Laputa" (which Disney has dubbed into English, & which is now sold under "The Flying Mountain"), & you'll have to Google up the man's name. It has slipped my mind...sigh.... Gallopin' Geezerhood.... Nor are the Japanese the only ones doing anime, now. Check out the French (dubbed into English) series, "Skyland," a futuristic story about a family with special powers who band with others to fight "the Sphere," in what remains of Earth after it has literally come apart. The science is ridiculous, but the story line & animation is so good, you may not care! (Some compare it to "Star Wars." I could go on, but my desk is starting to tip over because of the length of this ALREADY, so...check it out! Maggiepie (And you're welcome...:o) [Maggiepie]
when my children are around,i have no other option but to put on children movies.watching along with them i have developed a interest for childrens movies.and i often find myself watching childrens movies like stuart little.happy mylotting and good day.happy. [riyasam]

lolHi friend I just fail to understand why should you watch them after your son is in bed? Yes I sometimes enjoy the movies, cartoons with my grand daughters. Well thats for sharing, I have to look for these CD/DVD .lolHave a nice Monday, cheers and happy mylotting. DR.SARAF PhD.cool [bhubaneshwar]
There's nothing wrong with watching cartoons, as i said before cartoons are for everyone and not just for kids you shouldn't have to highed the fact that you watch them its ok to watch them by yourself as well as watching them with your kids, cartoons are made for all ages. [apples99]
I have not watched a childrens movie in a very long time Mommy. My children are in their 30's. Oops sorry I did watch some with 2 of my grandkids when I was watching them. I used to love watching "Charlottes Web" and i think it was called "Watership Down" there were lots of different animals in it. Bonny Tyler sang Bright Eyes throughout the movie. It was excellent. [Goodie123]
I cannot remember, it was too long ago that I watched it. [Goodie123]
I don't watch children's movies but it doesn't mean that I don't like them. It is just that I do not have access to it freely, lol.. and that it was not my favorite so I don't go out and actually buy children's movies. But I find that I actually sit down and watch some of the cartoons on television. I don't have kids, so it means when I watch cartoons or animated series it really means I like watching it. One of my favorite is Pingu. It is an animated series which have a penguin's family as their main role. I like watching it because it has no dialogue and I can just watch it with ease. My husband likes watching it too, and to think about it, it makes us laugh because we think we are odd. In Pingu, even though it is just a simple penguin story, but it teaches us about how to handle our daily lives. It teaches a simple rule in the house, such as never forget to pump after you use the toilet. Another thing is never be careless when doing a job, or people may not like you and your reputation would be ruined. Not only you but your family will be involved. Things about loving your family is important in our lives, about sharing, and about thanking God for everything. It touches my heart when I watch Pingu because without any dialogues it is able to teach us in a very soft way. That's all from me. Adios! [ladysurvivor]
I don't think I have ever watched Pingu. My son may have though. I find a lot of children's programs on Noggin are educational and teaches children about all sorts of things too. Thanks for sharing ladysurvivor. [maddysmommy]
Hi! Yes , when my children were young, I loved to watch cartoons. Especially the Flinstones or Scooby doo. Cartoons like that. I had a heavy depression 12 years ago. And all I did the whole day was look at carton network. This is how I cured myself at that time. Feeling like a little girl again without anyone else knowing, hahaha! Sounds crazy , but it helps. Looking through the eyes of a child, makes you feel young again, with out all the grown up problems. Does not help in every situation, but at that time i got by. Did not need any medicine, my medicine was cartoons, hahaha. Unfortunately, this does not help in every case of depression. Take care, Have a nice week. Margajoe. [Margajoe]
Thank- you Appels. Though I do beleive we all go through depressions every know and then. Some depressions can be easier to get over then others. In my case, I kept ignoring my problems by helping others. But when I was 40 I was told I myself have a Destiny Depression. Had it maybe even my whole life. But it most likely started when I was nine and lost trust in men. I guess because you know what depressions are, with out giving it a name, you can automatically relate to other situations faster than so called normal people. ( whatever that means know a days LOL!!!) Funny was one day when I was 27 years old, a friend of my gave me her class picture. And I did what I thought everyone did. I examined there faces and could read from the picture, what kind of people they were, what characteristics they had ect. My friend grabbed the picture out of my and told me I was a frighting kind of person. Because it took her almost the whole year to learn what kind of people these were, and I told her with just one picture of the class. LOL. So I guess you can say, I am a lucky person because threw this I have learned a lot. Take care, Margajoe. [Margajoe]
i do not have children. still i must confess at time i like to watch childrens' films or acrtoons. i think these are very natural as they are generally very cute things. [subha12]
They are cute indeed. Thanks subha! [maddysmommy]
No I am not one for watching kids movies when they are not around. To be honest I very rarely watch the tele if the kids are not around, its a treat to just have a bit of silence or to be able to have some music on instead!! [gemini_rose]
Oh I can understand that, having nothing on or just playing music. [maddysmommy]
Ya i like to watch the animation films. They are not just intended only for children. They can be viewed by everyone. But the main target for those film makers are children.I ove to watch all the childrens movies.I like polar express, home alone movies the most in kid's films.I watch it myself alone even there are no kids around. [saajaan]
Yes i agree saajaan cartoons are for everyone in fact i was watching this behind the scene documentary for the road to eldorado its this grate animated film and in the documentary the filmmakers were saying how the spesificly made certain parts of the film so that everyone could enjoy them and that they really wanted to make a film for both kids and adults, most cartoon makers want to make cartoons that everyone can watch, as some of you know im an artist and if i were to make a animated film it would be for adults and children, oh and by the way you should see the road to eldorado its good fun, lol. [apples99]
Yes some times. I don't intentionaly put them in or turn them on but if they are already on and my even if my daughter isn't in the room I will watch them. I caught myself watching Spongebob and I really don't even like Spongebob (we watch it tooooo much). Saturday I caught my husband watching and when I asked him what he was doing - he said he wanted to see the end! LOL Thats priceless! [ebsharer]
haha priceless indeed. Thanks ebsharer. [maddysmommy]
I always liked watching childrens movies when my daughter was little, and some kid shows too like Shari Lewis & Lambchop. (Where are they now? My daughter has a child and wishes she had DVD's of Lambchop for her son.) She is now 21 and I still like watching kid flicks. I thought Madagascar was great, and can't wait for Madagascar 2, and all three of the Shrek movies were great. Watching kids movies is very light hearted, relaxing entertainment. I'll probably never stop watching them. [cinnamonwoods]
I remember vaguely Shari Lewis & Lambchop. I don't think I watched it all too often. Madagascar is a favorite of ours and Shrek too. [maddysmommy]
wow there are so many childrens movies that i really love to watch. happy feet is one of them. and i don't mind watching them if my little one is not around. i like finding nemo, and i love the toy story movies. i have no problem watching movies with out my children [34momma]
That's excellent momma!!1 [maddysmommy]
When my daughter was little I always enjoyed watching movies with her-Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, The Little Mermaid, as well as Shari Lewis & Lampchop. My daughter is now 21, and I still watch kid flicks. My favorites are Over the Hedge, Open Season, all Shrek movies Madagascar. Bring me more-they are so relaxing. I'll probably always watch children movies. [cinnamonwoods]
They are relaxing aren't they. I like the favorites you have mentioned and have seen them all too. I vaguely remember Shari Lewis & Lampchop though, that seems like a life time ago LOL [maddysmommy]
children's movies are producted by adults, how could them include no adult's elements?so next time you watch a children's movie ,do not deliarately find time when you are on your own.besides, watching them with your children also do good to your relation w ith your children. [mimiyan]
Hi mimiyan and welcome to Mylot. It wasn't deliberate, just something I decided to watch when I couldnt' find anything else on tv to watch at the time. Thanks. [maddysmommy]
no, i don't watch them unless he is watching. when i have time to watch tv i watch my soap operas that i record on my dvr on a daily basis and i get really behind sometimes. i do not always have the time to watch tv even at night because he likes to watch and i like to spend time with him so i watch with him. [mikeysmom]
I do that too. There are certain cartoons that I do watch with my son every so often. I am not a soap opera fan so I don't watch any of those, but there are a few reality shows that I do tape and watch when my hubby and son aren't hogging the tv LOL [maddysmommy]
I haven't seen Happy Feet but I don't think I would like it. I just don't quite like children's movies unless they are things like X-men or Captain Planet kind of cartoons. Maybe with a few more decades in my belt, things will change. I am not too bothered either way... just go with the flow. Enjoy. wink [lordwarwizard]
Aah so you like the superhero kinda cartoons/movies. My hubby does too - especially the Justice League series. [maddysmommy]
I don't really have time to watch ANY movies, let alone children's. Though there are some I enjoy, I am more prone to watch when the kids are watching. I might suggest a certain movie that I would like to see at a given time. On Friday we saw Mamma Mia and I said we were going to go home and watch Hairspray. Well, that didn't happen. Just too much going on in our lives to take time out to watch movies. Maybe over the next two weeks with the Olympics dominating the airwaves I will be able to fit in a movie luxury, but my girls are interested in the Olympics (and so am I to some extent). During the regular tv season there are a lot of shows that I like that are on at the same time so I tape a lot. On Saturday nights I sit down and watch them all... usually a couple of hours worth. So this tv addict doesn't have time for many movies. [patgalca]
I can understand that. I have a few shows that I tape too so I can watch at my own convenience. For some reason I couldn't be bothered watching the Olympics (boxing was on and hubby wanted to watch it) so I decided to watch one of my son's dvd. Swimming, Tennis and Basketball are the sports I've been following. They don't show too much New Zealand women's basketball on cable so I've been watching it online. [maddysmommy]
Funny but true. When I am bored and wanted to waste away my idle time, i watch cartoons. Those series my kids are watching. It airs replays sometimes. And so I can relate to my kids as well when it comes to their fave cartoon characters. [izathewzia]
Cartoons are fun aren't they? I find myself watching them even when my son is playing with his toys. Cars and Alvin and the Chipmunks are his favorites at the moment, including the movie KungFu Panda. [maddysmommy]
Yes there are movies that you can and will watch with out the kids. Happy Feet is one that I have seen and it was good. Cars too I have seen it with out the kids. I want to see the new one with the panda but I can wait for it to come out on dvd. Some of the kids movies are really nice and what adult would not watch the. You know. [twallace]
Yup I hear you on that one. KungFu Panda was awesome and I saw it with my son at the movies. Jack Black is so funny. I hope to buy it when it comes out on DVD so I can send it to my sister for her four children. They don't go to movies much (pretty expensive with four kids and two adults) so I'm going to send them one instead. [maddysmommy]
Yeah I watch them I am 20 and havent had my first baby yet almost there though. I will be watching cartoons until the day I die. [StarChild517]
I think we all will be :) [maddysmommy]
I love watching childrens movies regardless if my 7 year old is watching them with me or not. My faves are The Fox and The Hound, The Little Mermaid, Monsters Inc. Shark Tale, Finding Nemo and yes Happy Feet. I think with everything we deal day to day in the "grown up" world...watching childrens movies reminds me of being a kid. I love that. [metalhalo]
They sure do remind us of being a kid. The ones you mentioned are favourites of ours too especially Monsters Inc and Finding Nemo. My son can't get enough of those two movies. [maddysmommy]
im glad im not the only one that likes some kids films.I loved the grinch and i think monsters inc is brilliant,i watched that yesterday! Does home alone count as a kids movie cos thats brilliant! [3cardmonte]
Definitely - my son and I watched Home Alone 2 just the other day - he loved it! [maddysmommy]
My daughter loves Happy Feet! I have not seen The Ant Bully yet, I will have to check that out. I love to watch Meet the Robinson's, Cars and Enchanted even when she is asleep. We own lots of "children's dvds" that we watch a lot. I need to get new copies of Aladdin and Emperor's New Groove. I love those too. [moneyandgc]
Meet the Robinsons and Cars are favourites of ours too. We only have a small collection which I wouldn't mind building on. Sometimes cable starz movies plays lots of childrens movies so I often watch those too :) [maddysmommy]
hey hi,even I love to watched children's movies,be it animated or just cartoon.Recently,I again watched this brother bear and finding Nemo. [brisk123]
Oh I love brother bear too. Hmmm I have to see if I can find that one, that would be one movie I wouldn't mind watching again. [maddysmommy]
We are grandparents, but we did watch Happy Feet, and we had watched Chicken Run when our sons were at home, but they were adults already. And on Saturdays, we will watch those kid movies where the children run haggard around the dumb crooks. It is not that often though, but once in a while, my mind needs to take a break. Yes and I still like Disney's Cinderella and Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. [suspenseful]
I really love Cinderella and I cried when Bambi's mother was killed. I loved the Disney movies, especially the nature ones. Not so much now, but when I was a kid, I really enjoyed them. I also love the grown up version that Disney puts up, I do not know the name of the company but they are quite good. Oh and I love the Pixar movies, especially Wall=-E. I plan to get it in blue ray and we do not have a blue ray player yet. happy [suspenseful]
kids movies are great. i use to watch them even before i had one of my own. there is just something about them that gives the feeling that everything no matter what will be okay. the other night i was watching "surfs up" that one was pretty good. i often find myself headed for the cartoons. i think alot of it has to do with the way the world is right now. there is just so much violence and chaos that we all need a moment to remember that we are all children at heart and that we need to fill up our imaginations and remember to let that which does not matter slide. childrens movies are great for doing that. they make me feel all happy again- even if the world is coming down around me- if i pop in a movie like enchanted or some other disney movie it just makes all that other stuff melt away. [pukaprat2]
I hear you on that one. Definitely feel like a kid again when I watch children's movies. Surfs up is a favorite of ours too! [maddysmommy]
My husband's and my children are grown and moved out and we like to watch animated movies. The last one we watched was "The Ant Bully"!! It's a good movie, you'll like it. We also liked "The Bee Movie," "A Bug's Life," "Monsters Inc."...I'm sure there are others but I can't think of them right now.. lol [Wyldrose]
Those movies we like watching too - My son is into Kung Fu Panda and Alvin and the Chipmunks at the moment. [maddysmommy]
I love 'Happy Feet' and all the Disney movies, 'Lady and the Tramp', 'Cars'. And I watch them all the time, and I don't have any kids at home and haven't in 3 years. My s/o and I will even watch them together when there is nothing else on worth watching. He likes watching them just as much as I do. So, they aren't just for children. [palonghorn]
I don't know what it is with my hubby but he can't seem to sit still when we are watching cartoons. Only on occasion he will watch one and really enjoy it. Most of the time if we are at the movie theatre he often falls asleep LOL [maddysmommy]
I'm 18 and I still love to watch children's movies, especially the classic disney movies. Did I mention that I also like Spongebob? I was watching Madagascar and Wall-e recently. [emskoneko]
Spongebob is hillarious and I watch it from time to time. Wall-E was another good movie we saw recently. Have you seen Kungfu Panda? it's really funny and worth seeing. [maddysmommy]
Haha. I'm almost 18 and I still sit around watching spongebob. I love disney movies, they are the cutest, and honestly make me giggle a bit. My favorites are Toy Story and Over The Hedge. My mom is almost 43 and she watches Hannah Montana, and still takes us to see family movies like that. It's just amusing. [FR35H_70_D347H]
Over the hedge is a cute movie and my son and I enjoyed watching that! [maddysmommy]
i am 29 years old and i am still fond of watching Barney. I even know most of their songs. Even if there are lots who do not like Barney, I like it. It's simple to follow, fun and they do have very cute characters. I also watched happy feet three times, all shrek films, finding nemo and others. just lately, my boyfriend and i watch kung fu panda. i say, it's awesome and i wanna watch it again. maybe even if we are already old (not really that old), we still have the child in each and everyone of us. and that, we need to keep alive. [maryannemax]
Kung Fu Panda definitely rocks and to be honest we have seen it twice already. I want to buy a copy for my sister in New Zealand (She has four kids and they don't get to see many movies) and send it to her so hopefully it comes out soon. [maddysmommy]
I don't have little kids around anymore and I love to watch Merry Poppyins and Beauty and The Beast. And several other childrens movies. I think that there is nothing wrong with watching them. There are a lot of us out here they just don't know about this sight to write about it. So watch watch away. It's better then what's on tv these days. God Bless and Have A Great Day [JLMack]
Beauty and the beast is also a favorite of mine. There are so many out there these days, hard to keep up with sometimes. [maddysmommy]
Not really, no. Though I do enjoy watching some of them. We usually save the kids movies for family movie night. So I guess I get my fill without having to watch them on my own. [ersmommy1]
We have family movie nights too but sometimes it's hard to choose what to watch because hubby doesn't like many of the family movies that my son and I like LOL [maddysmommy]
A lot of the movies that my children now watch belong to me. As in - I bought them before I ever had children and I enjoy them a lot. My all time favourite is Beauty and the Beast. Then there is Second Hand Lions, Mulan, etc. Sometimes the kids want a movie on, and then they go play and I'm left there watching by myself. Then I go around singing Veggie Tales songs, or Wiggles songs as I do the housework for the rest of the day. [Essie119]
haha you know I do that to, go around singing cartoon songs LOL they are catchy aren't they. Beauty and Beast is one movie I have not seen in a long time, including Lion King. I loved the Lion King movies. [maddysmommy]
YES just got finished watching kung foo panda and yes it is bootleg!!!!!!!!!11 [mstgmagic]
Kung Fu Panda rocks and I do now about bootleg copies too LOL my husband does it quite a lot haha [maddysmommy]
HAHAHA my SIL laughs at me when I have the disney channel on even though the kids are away! I love most of the cartoons and shows on the disney channel anyway, so yeah I still watch them sometimes! Dawn Lidwell www.fireyourboss.go.cc [mrs_lidwell]
I do too. That is Noggin and sometimes cartoon network, even though there are a few shows on that channel that I don't like. My son use to love PBS sprout when he was younger. [maddysmommy]
i do watch cartoons.. hehe.. i just love them. but when it is really very for kids, i didnt...i watched like happy feet, and all those with sense that could be for adults too... [jingbautista]
Absolutely :) happy feet is a favorite of mine! [maddysmommy]
I too enjoy childrens movies and very happily see them whenever I can. I still enjoy Tom and Jerry cartoons too. Makes me forget my problems and feel young once again. For that time, you are a child again without any tension. I would see these with my son and enjoy it as much as he did. Why not. [ketybhagat]
Tom and Jerry cartoons are very funny and my son loves watching them too. [maddysmommy]
Hi, I don't have kids, but I have 3 adorable nephews and nieces (aged 2-8 yrs old). They would insist on lending me a show or two, which they said is good, and I must see. So I've ended up watching cartoons on weekends and laughing a lot lol! The last few shows I watched were 'Happy Feet', 'Donald & Friends' and 'Kungfu Panda'! [lazeebee]
to all three especially Kung Fu Panda - hillarious movie and thoroughly enjoyed it! [maddysmommy]
i think movies made for children aren't just meant for kids to watch. there are some relevant insights that we can learn from watching. take for example the movie finding nemo, its shows a father and son relationship and best when watch with their fathers. [sapphirelilac88]
I totally agree and welcome to mylot sapphirelilac88! [maddysmommy]
Oh yeah, I'm a big kid at heart. I have VCDs of The Emperor's Groove, Movie Inc, Finding Nemo, etc and I enjoy watching it with or without my daughter. LOL!lol I love love love also Madagascar and I can't wait to watch it with my daughter when she is a bit older. happy Right now she won't understand it yet. [jammyt]
Those are some of my favorites too especially Finding Nemo :) thanks for posting Jammy! [maddysmommy]
I'm a kid at heart... I love watching children's movies (hey, who said grown ups can't watch them anymore???) Haha.. Last movie I watched was Kung Fu Panda and I watched it bigscreen. Imagine all the grown ups there laughing out loud (literally) at the scenes there. It's funny because you'd expect kids to laugh out loud... but grown ups? haha.. It was really nice to hear. Besides, it makes you feel young(er) when you watch stuff like that. Right? [rosedust82]
I totally agree with youi rosedust - a funny movie indeed and isn't Jack Black hillarious? we loved the movie two and saw it twice at the movies haha! [maddysmommy]
We all have an inner child and I do not see any harm in entertaining it. A lot of times I find myself settling on a children's picture, because everything else is so offensive to me. I do not like horror, violence, statanism, a lot of heavy sex, displays of homosexuality, talk shows, soap operas, reality t.v., or court t.v. So what else is there, but children shows. And of course, I Love Lucyrasp. [Rozie37]
You don't love Lucy? Oh my, I just don't understand how anyone could not absolutely adore Lucy. Well I know at least one other person like you and she married into my family, so I have to endure heryawn hehe. [Rozie37]
My parents watch movies which we watch ( im not a kid but a teen , but i watch childeren movie) on tv.. we watch kid's channel mostly they we watch kids movies in our regional channel so i think you cannot understand even if tell their names.. long back i watched spy kids 1 and 2 and 3 .. [shana123]
I'm not sure if I have seen those, I'll have to check. Thanks for posting! [maddysmommy]
yeah for a time that is years back..but now no more..well i like the snow white and cinderella stories..they are classic ones i guess... [vanities]
They sure are, I like those too! [maddysmommy]
I like to watch children's animal animated movies, such as Garfield. I very like the funny and lovely part of the movies. [robbychen2009]
I have never really been a fan of Garfield but I know my neices liked watching it. [maddysmommy]
Love this Discussion,, LOL! It is like I have been "Outed" LOL. My sons are ages 27 & 31... My husband and I are huge kids movies fans. We own several LOL! I like to watch shows that are G rated.. They is nothing affensive about them! They all have lesson to teach kids! ( and the young at heart! ) [LouiseKnittel]
LOL @ 'outed' too funny! [maddysmommy]
meet the robinsons its really cute and my daughter was watching it but fell asleep on me so I just finished watching it by myself other then that I don't have much time to myself to watch movies by myself but I love kids movies. [mflower2053]
That is another one my son likes to watch too. [maddysmommy]
I am a kid at heart. I do find myself watching children's movies, even when the kids aren't around. In fact, I was the only one in my family who wanted to watch the new Alvin and the Chipmunks movie. I rented it for myself! I love to laugh and I enjoy the wholesomeness that a kids movie offers. Sometimes I get tired of swear words and vulgarity. [hmkoct5]
I hear you on that one. Alvin and the chipmunks is a favorite of ours too. Have you seen KungFu Panda? now there's a funny movie! [maddysmommy]
yeah i love kids movies specially "barbie" lol and in tv i love watching Spongebob its funny and entertaining [bombshell]
lolhehehe its ok. [bombshell]
Me and hubby have always watched children's movies, even before we had our baby..Our faves are The Lion King,Madagascar, Shrek [jewel76]
Lion King has always been a favorite of ours - my son loved it at an early age. [maddysmommy]
I don't generally love the cartoon movies that much (although I did love the Lion King), but the kids movies that I do really love are the non-cartoon Disney ones that were made in the 1960s and 70s, like the Parent Trap and Polyanna, as well as things like Mary Poppins and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. I still watch things like that when they're on. (Oh, and Bedknobs and Broomsticks!) The last children' movie I watched on my own was probably Nanny McPhee (which is sort of a twist on Mary Poppins really!) [liquorice]
They're great to watch again now. I think they're still just as good! [liquorice]
Yes, I do it all the time, my kids tend to leave and before I know it, I'm still watching and they are playing outside. I don't mind watching cartoon movies or shows. I even watch them when my kids are in school. [Ina926]
I do that too when I haven't got anything to day and i'm sitting in the lounge drinking my coffee. My son would be off in his room playing with his toys and I'm sitting there watching his cartoons LOL [maddysmommy]
Me and my hubsand don't have any children yet and we watch kid movies all the time =) Of course we are like big kids ourselves lol. We have watched a whole bunch of them, Ratouille, Cars, Open Season, Madascadar, Hood, Happily ever after, are just a few to name ^_^ I'm waiting on seeing Wall-e and kung fu panda :D [musiclover505]
Love those movies too - you will enjoy Kung fu Panda it is sooo funny - love Jack Black! [maddysmommy]
Hi maddysmommy, I love children's movies and use to watch quite a few. Now there are no children around anymore so I don't get to watch them. Blessings. [Pose123]
Hi Pose123 do you have any favorites? [maddysmommy]
I don't have kids, i do have a 10 year old sister (theres alot of years difference between us) and i do find myself watching kid movies even without her. Recently I watched Alivin and the chipmunks, cars, bee movie, Aladdin, Cinderella, Hannah Montana. [saundyl]
Alvin and the chipmunks and cars are a favorite of ours - I don't know how many times I have seen those two movies :) [maddysmommy]
YES! I don't have kids yet but I love cartoons especially the pixar ones. The best cartoon I've watched recently is Kung Fu Panda! you totally have to go and watch it if you haven't already. It has really great graphics and an interesting plot. and being ethnically chinese, I must say that the representation is rather authentic and the words and names used are very chinese! It was hilarious as well, so do watch it soon! [squaretile]
I so hear you on that one. My son and I have seen it TWICE haha. It is hillarious and we loved it. I am going to buy it when it comes out on dvd for my sister who has four kids. They don't get to go to movies much and I know they are going go love it! [maddysmommy]
Yes, I do and I have a favorite cartoons that i always want to watched like " Mariposa" it is from Barbie for the story is having a lot of learning and way of which is the right of way to choose and learn how to trust yourself and be confident. [iyah10]
I watched AquaMarine this weekend, so yes. lol I was laying in bed searching the stations and found it. I had watched it with my daughter a long time ago, and started to watch it thinking of my daughter. I miss her not being home. [icyorchid]
I don't normally watch that much TV, but I might watch a kids movie when my daughter isn't around of that seems to be what is best on TV at the moment. For example, I would watch SpiderWick or Harry Potter if that happened to be on the TV. [DaddyOfTheRose]
I like the Harry Potter movies too! [maddysmommy]
I always enjoy watching children's movies that are done well. I also liked "Happy Feet". Never saw "The Ant Bully" though. [gberlin]
I saw that movie advertised and knew that I wanted to see it. So did my daughter. My daughter is 28 but still enjoys watching children's movies. [gberlin]
I love watching kids movies as well. I will watch some of the movies that my daughter watches on the Disney channel. I recently saw the Bee movie and loved Happy Feet as well. I will also admit to watching the animated movies to. My favorite are the Goofy movies. [snoopy04]
My son likes watching the Disney Channel too! [maddysmommy]
I can not honestly think of the last time I sat and watched a child's movie on my own. Now, that could be because I am not a fan of animation and kids shows or it could also be because I am never without my kids around. [Modestah]
Hi Modestah, how are you? Thanks for stopping on by. [maddysmommy]
When I was on a business trip sans children I found myself watching High School Musical in the hotel room. [kellys3ps]
Nice. I haven't seen that movie [maddysmommy]
I always find myself watching children's movies even though I dont have any children!! My boyfriend loves cartoon and all the kids films. He loves the Wall-E film and wants one!! I must admit I did enjoy Wall-E also but there are some that do annoy me. I try and tell him to watch them when Im at work so that I dont have to watch them. [cinderella2007]
My husband watches a few but not that many. He often sleeps through them when we are at the theatre. Wall-E was a good movie too! [maddysmommy]
Oh yeah! definitely. There's nothing more fun and better way to refresh yourself and keep your blood pressure at normal than having a stress free day watching kids' movies. I love all of them most especially Beauty and the Beast and Ratatoullie, very good movies. I think I've already watched every single cartoon and animated movies there is with Walt Disney and I simply love them all. The last thing I watched was Happy Feet too. And before that I watched Meet the Robinsons and The Bee Movie, both of which are good movies as well. whew! I just love these types of films. They're all worth to buy and watch. [laydee]
Oh yeah, hi there! yeah, I've been busy a lot these days and couldn't even find time to go to mylot. But thank goodness things have been better these days (that's why I've been able to show up mylot once again). Thanks for the topic by the way. It reminded me of the children's movies I watched before and have the craving to watch again. =) [laydee]
I wish I HAD "Happy Feet" to watch; I have yet to catch it! In a word, YES! I love a GOOD childrens' movie--or book, for that matter. For a long time, people had this idea that something mediocre was just "ok for CHILDREN, but not adults." I say PHOOEY to that! If it's bad for adults, it's bad for kids, too! The people who had that notion MEANT, of course, that something is too =simplistic= for adults, but an awful (& I DO MEAN "awful") lot of really sappy, crappy stuff got pawned off on kids because of this foggy-minded idea. The fact is, G.I.G.O. You know that phrase? It's computer jargon; it means "Garbage In, Garbage Out." It means that if you don't put something valid into your computer, it can't return anything but gibberish, or "garbage." Same thing is true for kids. Give them art, music, literature, etc. that is well-done, or ELSE. If something is well-written, after a child has mastered the basics, he or she will be able to comprehend books & films even if written for an adult brain, at least on some levels.* I read unannotated Shakespeare when I was five. Did I understand ALL of it? Of course not! But I got enough to enjoy it! If we want our kids to grow up literate & with good taste, we must PROVIDE them with it while they're YOUNG. SO, if I find something that's done well. even though it was INTENDED for a CHILD, then I'd enjoy it, too! In fact, if you study old animated shorts, you'll find THOSE were designed to amuse all ages. There were often things in them that ONLY an adult COULD find funny! So crack open a children's classic (say, Robin Hood, or Doctor Doolittle), & WATCH a great film, or LISTEN to great music. In fact, if it's all that good, do it WITH your kid. You'll BOTH have a great time! If someone tries to kid you about this, just remember, YOUR child will grow up with great artistic values, AND have quality time with you...IF you need reasons to explain your actions. In the meanwhile, I have no kids, I'm 60, & I'm STILL catching good "kids' stuff whenever possible! LOL! Maggiepie *By adult, I do NOT mean violent or sexual material, of course. [Maggiepie]
THANK YOU, MADDYSMOM! I reread my post just now, trying to figure out why it made "Best Response," & discovered I misspoke in one detail. I did NOT read Shakespeare when I was FIVE; I MEANT to type that I'd read it all by the time I was in 5th grade! Woops. Chalk that one up to yet another moment (lately more frequent.../o}) of "Gallopin' Geezerhood!" Anyway, glad you enjoyed it. I loved your post, & I wish there were more like it! :o) Maggiepie [Maggiepie]
.When the kids were small, we'd have our movie nights and curl up with our popcorn and juice and laugh ourselves silly for hours. Great times. Before I moved recently, a friend of mine who was 72 years old, and I used to go to the movies at least once a week and it was always a kids movie. A few months ago I dragged my hubs to see The Compass and he loved it. He really hates movie theatres though, so now we have subscribed to the Disney Channel and never run out of things to watch when network programming is in reruns. [sparkofinsanity]
Yes I d and love them...when they are in the theatres, I just take along a friend kid or something if I want to see it as well lol. I have watched Shrek over and over, Happy Feets, Ice Age, Magasdar and so many more. I think we all have an inner child in us [gtdonna]
Ice Age 1&2 I wouldn't mind seeing again. [maddysmommy]
Lately on Cable TV I've watched Happy Feet. It was a cool movie. I watch Children's movie at most times alone. I love to watch cartoons as well. Its makes me really relaxing. [777330975]

That is no problem. Thank you for posting your comment anyway. Since it's snowing today we are going to watch a family movie!!! [maddysmommy]
We actually don't have any children but we still have several children's movies. Hubby and I both love them and plan to buy more. ~~AT PEACE WITHIN~~ **STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS** [twoey68]
