Do You Like Chinese Movies

Hello mylottes, Do you watch Chinese Movies? Some of my foreign friends told me that he thought chinese people knows how to fly, they got that imagine from the Kong-Fu moive that they seen. I used to think there are some people who can really fly when i was little kid. I am not sure how good the translation are when Chinese Movies be translated in English, as a chinese, i can understand it's deeper meaning 100%, but i am not sure about people from western country. Because some of the scenes shows the culture different. Even though i am still wondering how many of you like chinese moives? If you ever seen one. what is the name of it? What impress you the most? Thanks for sharing your idea with us.

Oh don't like chinese movies because it is directed over actively. Like the pointing of fingers to their noses when they say "I" or "me". I find it not good if actor and actresses overdo an action or scene. it spoils the movie. I only like some movies of Jacky Chan and the late Bruce Lee. atleast it's not obvious because it is an action movies. [irene66]
conditions vary from countries to countries, the same is true of movies.undoubtedly, hollywood movie is the most popular trend among the world, but yet ,it is still very hard to say that everyone around the corner of the globe like it.different people own distinct flavor, they just like things which interest them.so whether a movie is popular or not depends upon individual affection or hatred.it is hard to use only one sentence to simply judge whether a country's movie is good or bad. [horton1985]

I do. I love the movies of Bruce Lee, Jackie Chan, Samo Hung, Jet Li and Chow Yun Fat. I don't have a Chinese blood and I don't know any Chinese words, nevertheless, the actions were enough to keep me hooked on the action movies of those actors. (I may have loved the movies more if I can understand Chinese languages.) When I finally understand English, the translations helped a lot, not just in understanding the movie but in learning the culture and tradition of the Chinese people. [eichs1]
i like chinese movies revolving around ancient dynasty, especially about some famous ancient emperors, such as emperor WUDI of Han dynasty,KANGXI of Qin dynasty.Audience can learn much from them, their bravery, honesty, sincerity, and also some techniques to deal the realitionship between different people and parties. [horton1985]

In my opinion,Chinese will like Chinese movies, not for nationalism, because of culture.Chinese also can understand Chinese movies clearly. But Chinese movies are more and more international now,I think more and more people will like them. [ruilong]
Yeah,my friend.I love the movie too. It's very funny. [ruilong]

I'm not a fan of Chinese Movies. I think the closest to the best Chinese movie I know is Geisha which had Chinese actors/actresses even though the novel was Japanese and the production was American :) I liked the acting the most. Thanks for the response on my discussion! [oyenkai]
kungfu movies of thailand is also excellent, different martial styles from chinese.horror movie of thailand is also frightening,i even dare not see it alone at midnight [horton1985]

NO, i not interested to see Chineses Movie. In chinese movie all character are similar in face, so cant recognise who is hero and others. I dont like there stories also, all stories are like same and only one thing is Kung-Fu fighting. I really bored from this same fight. In childhood i like that fighting and movies, but now since from childhood same fighting and same stories make me bored. I like hollywood films and hindi films. [rakeshlalwani]
Hi Rakeshlawani, I understand you are bored of the same flighting movie. Everyone likes different types of movies. I like all type of Movies except the Japanese movie. I don't like the stories, i don't like the scenes. But i do like Japanese cartoon though. They are cute. [vivianchen]

i am asian..not chinese...but chinese movies are fine with me...i have watched on dvds a lot o good chinese movies..both very old and new ones..some are like MY MEMORIES OF OLD BEIJING,BRING UP THE RED LANTERN,KUNG FU HASSLE,THE ONCE UPON IN CHINA SERIES.and still many others..it's always nice to be able to learn something about another country's culture and people through movies..so i say..i like chinese movies, too. [tabachi]
Hi Tabachi, I am glad that you like chinese movies. I think you are right about learn other countries through their movies. That's why some of my foreign friends told me that, when they frist thought about China, they thought everybody here can fly, that's because they learn it from the movies, everyone in the Kungfu movies can fly here and there, lol [vivianchen]

I am an overseas Chinese, but I dont watch movies. Most of the movies, especially those martial arts movies or shows, deviated so much from the original writings of Jin Yong and other writers. I love reading books written by Jin Yong. They are really very well written and maintain a high literary standard. Back to the Chinese movies, most of those movies exaggerated too much. It's true that martial arts practitioners can perform a lot of things that common people cannot do. Those Qi Gong masters can break bricks apart. And some ancient writings did write of people who could scale walls, but nobody can fly. [scheng1]
Hi Scheng1, Thanks so much for your value post. I agree that the books that Jin Yong worte are the best book about those martial arts. You actually got more imaginations by yourself when you are reading the books. But we have to admit that the movie actor or editor have tried their best to give us the same feeling from the bookings, sometimes, some scenes from the movies do exaggerated a little bit, but i think they are acceptable. Thanks for sharing your idea with us. [vivianchen]

Not all but it do love those movie of jackie chan and bruce lee, makes me remind of my childhood time, i love those kung-fu moves, the actions, and drama. [mhil84]
I guess Burce lee and Jackie Chan are the most famous action actors from China. I am proud of them. You should see some Beijing Opera, lots of arts in there. [vivianchen]

I do watched chinese movies. Specially the action film. Most of my favorite action star are chinese celebrity superstar. [Reyah23]
Hi Reyah23, So you like action films hah? Maybe you can go to Shaolin Temple to learn some Kung Fu, lol [vivianchen]

i have watched many chinese movies with english translation. the movies are good especially the fighting ones. [user_786]
Hi User_786, Thanks for responding my post. Glad that you like Chinese action movies. Happy mylotting! [vivianchen]

Actually no, I don't really understand them and it's not just the language thing. They are made so different that I have only seen one and I have vowed never to see another one ever! Kind of cheap looking as well. [Psynopsis]
Hi Psynopsis, Thanks for responding my post. As you stated that the movie you seen make you feel they are kind of cheap looking, i am not sure which movie do you saw give you such bad impression? Maybe you can see some big and new movies there days, maybe you will like it. Just an advice. [vivianchen]

Yeah I like Chineses movies if they're the kind of movies that I like. I'm not sure if he's a chinese director or a japanese director but one of my favorite directors that's asian would be Park Chan Wook. He's the director of I'm a Cyborg, But It's Okay and that's one of my favorite movies. It's a pretty trippy and visually appealing movie and it has scenes with the astral cord and things like that in it. It takes place in a mental institution and I think it's one of the best movies I've ever seen. [jambi462]
Hi Jambi462, Thanks for sharing with us your favorite chinese movies. I think there is more and more good chinese movies, i don't know the name of your favorite movie, but i am glad that you like it. Keep enjoying! [vivianchen]

Hello vivianchen, I like Chinese movies. Most movies I watched were comedy and actions. I watched Kung-Fu hazzle, Forbidden Kingdom, etc. I find that the kung-fu fights were very entertaining. The story is ok, and most have moral lessons and usually ends tragically. I don't understand Chinese and so most of the movies were either dubbed or you read the English translation. They are fun to watch. Regards. ninjaninjaninja [robert19ph]
Hi Robert19ph, i like comedy too. China is a country with over 5000 years history. So most of the big movies have moral lessons like don't cheat on frines, rights always will win the wrongs. I don't know what you thing they usually end tragically? Because lots of people die only few alive? That might be true, because the movie is trying to tell us peace will be double win for the people all over the world. [vivianchen]

I like Chinese very much ,the enthusiasm come from the Kong-Fu ,fast moving high jumping heat skill Indeed all those are in move not in the real world ,but the Kong-fu move promote showing us some wonderful things in th form of specical move skill ,that can be done ,all the impossible things starts out as our image, undoubtedly make us appease our enjoyments ,all those are the reason why I like Chinese Kong-Fu movies but this kind of move will make you feel an aversion .just for enjoy ,add most of the Kong-Fu movies were made in Hong Kong ,Hong kong are famours for it's movies. [chuan258641xing]
Hi Chuan258641xing, I think you have some good points on chinese movies. I am not sure if you are chinese or not, but i do agree with you that the good movies can bring us a lot of enjoyment and sometimes, we can learn from what happen to the actors or actresses in the movie. What a wonderful world! [vivianchen]

I like chinese movies a lot because it has a lesson shown to the viewers. I have watched recently the streetfighter by chun li. I like Jacky Chan's movie. [feathers26]
Hi Feathers26, You are one of Jacky Chan's fans? I am a girl, so i am not a big fan of fighting movies, i like comedy, make me laugh and relax. Action movies make me feel stressful. But i am still happy to know that people from other place like Chinese Movie. [vivianchen]

My husband and I watch quite a few Chinese movies. We enjoy both, and though we're still learning Manderin, we try to keep up with plot, etc. We have a great place we buy our films from so we're always given recommendations as to what is good, what's just kinda of cheesy, and so forth. Some we have in our collection are the just for fun, but others are more serious films based upon the history of China. And no, I don't believe that Chinese persons can fly from tree top to tree top. Though, I have seen the Shaolin Monks do some very extraordinary feats, but that does take many years of training. Namaste-Anora [Anora_Eldorath]
Hi Anora, That's very nice that you and your husband are learning mandarin. I think watching chinese Movies will help. Just like me, i am learning english, and my speaking english is better than my writting english, because i used to watch lots of western movies, all those comedies and romantic movies. I like them very much, of course i have to read the chinese translation to understand the movie better, but still, watching a english movie helps to improve my speaking english. Hope you will make your programs through watching Chinese Movies. Good day! [vivianchen]

I really like Chinese movies. I've seen a lot of Jackie Chan's movies from when I was young until now. In most movies they were able to incorporate action (really cool fight scenes!) and comedy which is really entertaining for me. My favorite Chinese movie I have to say is Kung Fu Hustle. I also like Shaolin Soccer and Mad Monkey Kung Fu. There are a lot I have seen and enjoyed but I don't remember the title right now. [brew2x]
I like Shao Lin Soccer! It's a very good movie. It combined the soccer and Chinese Kung Fu together. The movie also show us the true love between people. Very nice monvie. [vivianchen]

I really can't say. I mean I'm not a fan and not hating it as well. Just lukewarm. But I love "Shaolin Soccer" with Stephen Chow was that considered Chinese? I prefer Korean from Chinese, I don't know, I like their humor and animated scenes maybe. So unreal but fun! [veronicalodge12]
Hi Veronicalodge12, I am glad that you like Shaolin Soccer, i like it too. At least there was a chinese movie that you can remmeber his name. That's cool. Thanks for letting me know. [vivianchen]

I could remember those days when we were still kids watching those of Jackie Chan films (who to me doesn't grow or look old) and Bruce Lee and the like, it was so entertaining that we want for more. Even when we grow older, I am fascinated how Chinese movies turned out to be better in their movies these days as well, although of course some find it too fictional, ambitious or exxagerated, but then when you look at this, not much of other Asian country has able to beat the fact that Chinese movies has already gone its circulation around the globe. What impresses me, is how they were able to grab the science of movie making mixed with the Chinese movie culture, the "karate element" has always influenced many actions movies throughout the world. [torchablazed]
Hi Torchablazed, You got some points!Yes, indeed, Chinese Movies is growing, the directors are trying their best to mix the estern element and western element to the movie more attractive. I think as long as the moive can bring you some move, some enjoyment, so laughts, then it's worthwhile to watch it. [vivianchen]

i LIKE chinese movies especially chinese kunfu moives , i like jakie chen ,who is my favourite actor . he is from kongkong . [rocketsky]
Hello Rocketsky, Wow... i am impress on how fast your post number goes. You are now have 600 posts. Good Job. Thanks for responding my post. So you are also big fan of Jackie Chan, eh? The city i live is not very far away from HK, i been to HK twice, but never have chance to meet Jackie Chan. lol [vivianchen]

hi, friend, I love chinese movies too, comedy action movies , like Stephen chow a famous player in china ,and in the world, I love his all films, and his films are very entertaining, everytime, I watched his film, I often laugh, big laugh, and cannot control myself. I think chinses film is growing up, and need our support. [allen_yuen]
Hi Allem_Yuen, All the frinds i know love Stephen Chow. He is funny guy with lots of his style of humor. The fomous dialogue in his film, my friends can always remember and using it in the real world. i agree that we should support chinese Movie as they are growing up! [vivianchen]

I am a chinese guy,I think if you like or not,the reason is if you like Chinese culture . [beyondall]
Hi Beyondall, I am from China too. I think if you like chinese culture, you will like chinese movie. But you can still love chinese movies even if you don't like chinese culture, you can still like the movies if they are fun or attact you. [vivianchen]

Yes ,I like ,because I am Chinese, well,I like them.Best wishes. [rainwater]
Hi Rainwater, I am glad that you like chinese movies. I am chinese too. I like chinese movies, but not all of them, i only watch those new and big movies or famous movies. [vivianchen]

So glad to see the topic. It is interesting that your foreign friends from western countries consider Chinese have learnt how to fly.HOHO. In my mind,I like the Chinese history opera very much such as the Empery of Qin era,the Romance of three kingdoms, heros of the the water margins. Of course, the story of the stone is also famous, but I do not like,I think it dull. And a story of a journey to the west looks so interesting during my childhood time. Thank you. [Fengxiang]
Hi Fengxiang, If i am right, you are a chinese too, right? And you name meaning share, correct? When i was a little girl, i do believe that some people can fly, because we saw it from the TV and we did not know at that time that they are not true. Now we know, but we still thankful for the enjoyment that chinese movies bring us. [vivianchen]

to tell you the truth ,when i open my conputer trying to watch some movies ,my first will always be the holiwood movies ,because i want to study inglish in the procoss of watching films ,besides the holiwood is really attractive for me ,but i can't simply say that all chinese movies are not that good compare to the holiwood movies ,for instance ,the action movies actually is really better than the movies made out of china [justiceliu]
Hi Justicliu, I am agree that watching english movies can help you with your english, but one thing is very improtant is that you can not rely on the chinese translation, if you do that, you will not gain much. That's how i learn from my lessons. I was so attracted by the movies and i forgot to learn my english! lol [vivianchen]

I really really love Chinese movie since I was a kid until now. It all started with the drama The Good Old Days, I started to follow Chinese movies and dramas. But I prefer comedy movie than action movie. Current one, I love films with Stephen Chow. I love Chinese movie's comedy, they are very straight and funny [leen_zhihai]
Hi Leen_Zhihai, I guess you are a chinese like me. Almost all of my friend know Stepthen Chow, his movies are so classic, every new movies of him, we will watch. I like comedy too. No matter it's a english movie or chinese movie or korean movies, as long as they are funny, and i will be happy to watch them! [vivianchen]

I love Chinese movies. My favorites are movies of Jet Li and Jackie Chan. Jackie Chan is a very good actor as he is versatile and funny. Jet Li is more serious and into a lot a stunts like Jackie Chan. I like Jet Li's Once Upon A Time In China 1-4 [sophie_dfuss]
Hi Sophie_dfuss, Thanks for responding my discussion. I like Jet Li better, he always show us the ture spirit of Chinese people and Chinese Kung-fu. I really like him. [vivianchen]

oh yes definitely. I like a few movies. I cant recall the names but i can tell your who acted in them. Movies acted by jackie chan, jet li, andy lau, samuel (the fat guy) and a few more. as for the translation they are good and understandable. No issue on that though. [schoenmaker143]
I am glad you like chinese movies. Many people mentioned Jackie Chan, Bruce lee, Jet li, but few people mentioned Samuel, i think he is a very good actor as well, it amazing that he still move fast even he is fat. [vivianchen]

Hiya, vivianchen. Nice to know that you're one of chineses who love the movies in our country. As for me,i am quite addicted with comedy movies involved with Stephen Chou. But lately i found the other funny actor named Jim Carry,i'm very impressived by his ridiculous mindless behavior.Plus, he has a lot of fimls, and you can also find him in some entertainment shows. He's really top of those comedy actors i've ever seen! [windsen]
I like Stephen Chou too! I think he is the best. i saw ever moives of him. [vivianchen]

I do watch Chinese Movies. Some are nice and interesting and worth watching. Some I watched simply for pure entertainment. It is a form of relaxation. It is not a bad idea for one to dream that one can fly or have superpowers. The English movies have such too. It is just protrayed in a different dimension. [whyaskq]
Yes, watch Movies is always a good way for relaxing. That's why i like commedies. [vivianchen]

I just recently watched a really good Chinese Movie called "Together." It was about a father and son who journey to Beijing for a violin competition. I started a discussion about Chinese movies afterward. [Canellita]
I think i saw that moive. It's a very touch moive, we can feel the love between the father and the son. Good choice! [vivianchen]

Yes i like chinese movies.I like the action part in it.I like the different actors like jackie chan and jet li.I have seen good stunts in the movie.I don't know the risks they take to do the movie. If i switch on the television and see the movie channels if it is a chinese movie i watch it till the end.I have seen people fly in the movies.I don't think its true.lollol [vicky30]
Hi Vicky, That's ture, no one can fly without and tools. When i was little girl, i did not know that there was tool for the actors to fly. lol [vivianchen]
