Do You Like To Watch Movies Based On Second World War

There are lots of good English movies based on Second World War. Most of them are based on true story. I like to watch those movies, because by watching those movies we can know about through waht people went at that time. But the stories are so panic. Every time I watch a movie of this kind, I hate Hitler more and more. Do you like this kind of movies? What is your favourite movie based on Second World War?

Some of the good movies on second world war I have seen are "Life is Beautiful", "Out of the Ashes", "Anne Frank: The whole story" etc. I hope you would like this movies too. [sweetlady10]

Yes louis, they were so brave. I get so much encouragement from this. [sweetlady10]

some of them are ok and some of the movie is not, it is all dpend on what movie you watch, like the movie flag of our father i kinda want to watch that movie. also i like the movie pearl harbor one, so each one is different on it is own way. [adidas7878]
Ofcourse all of the movies are not good equally. And also it depends on people, everybody's choice is different. [sweetlady10]

yep. i say, i love movies about war. i see the courage of men and how they fought and survived back then. it's kinda nasty but i love the films. i atleast can see them back years ago. and i honestly can say i admire them a lot. [maryannemax]
Those stories are so panic, but we can get a lot of inspiration from their courage. [sweetlady10]

It is one of the few movie types that I don't like. And no mater how good they are I just can't watch one until the end. [RogerTheRabbit]
I understand, interest or choice of movies are different from person to person. [sweetlady10]

I like watching a lot of war movies. So yes, especially the early british ones with all the great actors. having said that I like a lot of the modern ones. =) [joey_matthews]

I have watched countless movies about WWII since i was a kid,it must be the most event that films was made about in the history of cinema :) I can't say what is my favorite, there's too many to even remember them but one film that I watched again recently was "The English Patient" a great movie . [freesoul]
Hmm I have not watch the movie "The English Patient" yet. I think I have to watch it, as you are saying it is good:). I too can't remember all the name of those great movies. [sweetlady10]

Yes i know its horrible to watch or to read about the incidents that took place at the time of second world war. But still being listening to those right from my child hood i don't think it would have a panicking effect on me. I would sure love to watch any movies related to war. Seen many movies on war subjects but not exactly related to second world war. [crackhead]

I usually do not enjoy war movies of any sort. For some reason I never developed a taste for them but there is one that I have always liked called 'The Longest Day.' Maybe I liked it because hubby sat and explained things to me! The war movies for some reason always confuse me...I can't tell the soldiers apart and all! [crazynurse]
War movies are not pleasent, but those stories happend at time. I just want to know about al those happening. [sweetlady10]

Any thing that portrays our beastly past is not palatable to me.If its fiction, then its tolrable to some extent, but the non fiction parts remind us that we are just a animal too.Animal of a different kind who can read and write and kill each other for some trivial stuff. [mithiladarpan]

I like all history movies. They not only give us insite on stuff we did not see. But if they are accurate they are good for knowledge. I just enjoy a good history lesson. Which is why, I enjoy movies like this. If you have any you recommend, let me know. [LordGregoroftheSith]

I really like to watch documentaries about WW II. They are really interesting. I like movies with operations and some behind stories. World War 2 was a thing that should never happen again. There were 61 country in a war and on war territories were on 41 of them. How sad. How many people and civil died in it. I sometimes also watch palyed movies with actors but I prefer documentaries. [jurazg]

Well I did like a few Movies like "Guns of Navarone" , "Force 10 from Navarone" , "Battle of Britain " , "Saving Private Ryan " . All these were based on World War II . There was also one "A Thin Red Line" - Brutal yet a true depiction of the horrors of the war . But my fav has been : "saving Private Ryan " . Also there are many which I have not seen . [ptrikha1]

I have watched quite a few of them.I can't say I am in my best mood after watching thos emovies ,but there are times when I feel like watching them to know about the wars and history and to learn from our mistakes so we never repeat them. One of the movies that had stunned me was 'Schindler's List'.I had watched when I was still young and couldn't quite believe the things that were shown. [bluewings]

Yes that is a good point that we will know what people of those days went through, but I don't like watching war films, because of the noise backing it. I am sympathetic, therefore when watching such films, I tend cry. Thanks and have a nice day. [thefuture]

I have watched some, but I don't recall the names of the movies. They were good. I remember one was centered in Paris during the war. It seemed it was Jane Mansfield that played the female role... I don't remember... but I remember it was good. [charlene2350]

I love these kind of movies, I really like them. I've also read book called "The Legion of The Damned" nd I really enjoyed it. It's a true story about a guy from German army telling about himself. But I don't understand why people hate Hitler more than Stalin. Hitlers regime killed 10 million people when Stalins regime killed 30 million people. Stalin occupied so many countries and send people to Syberia in animal wagons(twice) where they were shot, they died by hunger, or froze to death. 50 years of USSR were terrible. Which has left a terrible effect on thous countries today. And i know it because I'm from Latvia which was occupied by the USSR. [neglitex]

No Sweet I don't as it makes me sad and cry to see how these People where treated I just do not understand how they where ablt to do this to People so I will not watch them [gabs8513]

I truly believe that everyone under 30 should watch those movies of world war two to get an understanding about what war is really like. Today we have ten of thousand people on the internet condemning the wars in Iraq and Israel. The only problem is that those wars are nothing like wars. They are just games than silly terrorists and politicians play. World War Two was a real war... and people were very different to the people of today. People were brave and patriotic. They were scare... but their fear did not interfere with their job. The bombing Lancasters of England sustained a massive 70% loss of planes and men. They flew missions around the clock over Germany. Those young men boarding their plane knew they only had a 30% chance of coming back... but no one said "I don't want to go". Nor did anyone say "Lets surrender and stop this terrible war". War... more than anything else... illustrate that life is not about surviving at all costs... but on the contrary... to create a quality of life which we can enjoy and make our life worth living. The men of World War Two gave their life so that we could enjoy the freedom we take for granted today. Great movies - The battle of Britain - The Dam Busters - The Great Escape - A Yank in the R.A.F. - Ennemy at the Gates - IKE - Patton - The Longest Day [Aussies2007]

I studied history when I was in school, and I did study the First and Second War. Perhaps its because I am too compassionate or I have a soft heart, I never like war and the effects of it. It's so cruel to mankind. I refused to study it even for exams sake. Hence, I never watch any movie on war. [whyaskq]

Some of my favourite movies in this genre(thought I'd share with everyone): 1-The great escape 2-The dirty dozen 3-Guns of Navarone 4-Where eagles dare 5-A bridge too far [VINAYBAR]

Yes, I like this kind of movies based on the Second World War. They are so interesting and exciting. And we get to be aware of people . How did they go through at that time? And the movies get us to know the war is crue. and make more people understand the peace. We'd cherish peace. [Richardflo]

Yes I really enjoy watching movies related to the Second World War. I like those part how the war begun and how it ended.Basically the war would end up soon when Hitler was not there. He was the great commander of German army. And after his death the war also starts to end. [romel_ece]

Sure,i like the second world war film.such as band of brothers,Saving private ryan... [bufu2u]

Yes I also love 2nd world war movies. I can recommend a few real good movies:: 1. Guns of Navarone 2. The Eagle Has Landed 3. Five Man Army 4. Schindler's List [bhuvahsya]

Yes I do .. in my last year at school (now several decades away) .. we had to do a big project on any choice of subject .. I chose the second World war .. I was instantly 'hooked' on the whole shebang .. Let me make that a little clearer .. I abhor violence of any form .. war is terrible .. war changes folks .. war ruins lives and destroys civilised life .. what I was facinated by was the logistics of moving men, equipment, munitions around .. who makes the decisions .. how the calculate what is acceptable losses and what is losses just to save face (the dreadful weeks and weeks of Huertgen Forest action springs to mind) .. So yes, I do enjoy a good war movie .. not a movie where violence and bombing is done just to keep the movie swinging along at a fast pace .. but the movies about true live events .. of the heroes and heroines of war .. how people were changed .. and just to depict sopmething as it really happened .. [patootie]

Yeah, I like 'em. Even though they're in black and white they're still pretty exciting and suspenseful--in fact I think that adds to the drama. It's interesting to get a glimpse into life back then, though movies back then weren't as realistic as they are today, and a lot of things (like the true violence of war) were kind of glossed over. [Idlewild]

I am a movie addict but havnt seen this movie as its not in amy hall / cinemas in my city ... [niicks]
