Do You Still Feel That The Best Movie Ever Is The Titanic

We know how much this movie made a big hit in the worldwide movie screen. I didn't like this movie after seeing it. People said that this is the biggest and the best movie ever made. I don't think so. BUt anyways, with many movies that had been after Titanic through the years. Do you still get the chance to get your copy of Titanic and watch it at home. if you have a copy of dvd or vhs tape of the movie. or is just sitting on your shelf forgotten already as the titanic itself. What is the greatest ever now for you. Is it Twilight, Harry POtter, Transformers?

responses and comments:

I hated that movie only saw it once and that was enough. The best movie now would be either the Rocky collection or Harry Potter due to the special effects. [chillpill90]

Never felt that Titanic was the best film ever, but would be hard pressed to say what the best film would be. Personally think Apocalypse Now is a classic but there are countless others [mrtimharry]

I think it is still the best of all to me... I have DVD of it and still watching it over and over again. I love it so much ... [smileonstar]

Well I never thought that Titanic was the best movie ever, even if it is technically the most commercially succesful movie of all time. Saying that I do still watch it probably once a year as it is a good movie, just not great. For me you have to go back to 1972 for the best movie ever made, that being The Godfather. Why? because it has everything, an amazing story, drama, action, horror, comedy, romance as well as phenominal performances from a cavalcade of stars. The fact that 37 years later it is still revered as being a great movie shows the quality of it which is something I doubt you will still be saying about Titanic or any of the other movies which you mention. [thedailyclick]
Since I will also say the same thing I do not want to waste time responding.I think commenting to your response is enough. You pointed out really well and I can never agree more .It was the perfect movie, the perfect blend of everything, a beautiful story and brilliantly portrayed. I brought out stars like Al Pachino. Considering I was born almost 2 decades after the movie was made and watched it after the new millennium, I was completely thrilled and fascinated.happyIt is unbelivable.Though I must say a few movies after The Godfather are also worth mentioning. The likes of Shawshank Redemption, The Gladiator and The Dark Knight are simply brilliant, far better than the Titanic, if I must say. [sagnik42]

That movie started when the ship when stern-up in the water.I mean really, who DIDNT see that coming?Anyone?Anyone?Didnt think so. I personally think it's only considered so great because of the moneyspent on it and the amount of media-coverage and merchandising it had.I also beleive its a shameful thing that James Cameron made a lame love story surrounded by one of greatest tragedies in the past 200 years.....but then I saw Pearl Harbour. The film itself was a tragedy, lets put it that way. I'm a huge admirer of 80s teen movies, especially John Hughes(R.I.P).Movies dont have to have kicking special effects or a lot of money-sucking set ups to be great, they have to have beleivable characters, ones that people can relate to and a plausible story or one of pure escapism. For my money,I like Die Hard,Rocky,Back To The Future,The Warriors and Night Of The Living Dead [SweetWhiskerz]

i didn't think Titanic was an exceptionally good movie. it was a popular movie due to it's nostalgic setting, if the same story had been acted out anywhere else than on board the Titanic i doubt if it would have been such a big success. i have two favourite movies of all time. they are Schindlers List and The Shawshank Redemption. [RobertSixtySeven]
Yes, I missed the Schindlers List.It is an art in itself. [sagnik42]

I can't even name what I think is the best movie ever made. I enjoyed Titanic, but I didn't have any need to see it again. I think people liked it because it was a sentimenal and romantic tearjerker. I like all the Coen brothers movies maybe the best. Fargo, Raising Arizona, O Brother Where Art Thou. Their movies are always just kind of quirky, with great scripts and great acting. [CinnamonGyrl]

This was a great movie and i watched it a couple times..but i dont think its my favorite all time..and its a huge chick flick..which i dont like..for one i hate crying in an emotional rage from a sad part or 4.,especially then end..broke my heart..but i must say there have been afew favorite movies of all time..like willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory..Wizard of OZ is a HUGE FAVORITE!! Independence Day really took me..lovved it!!!and newer ones..like super new is Transformers and Trans 2..awesome!! and G>I JOe simply just blew me away!! especially with all the graphics!1! a must see indeed and i wil watch it a million times when it come sout on dvd lol. [cloud_kicker_32]

no there are many movies titanic is also very good but there is list of movies which are more better than titanic. [shikha_1851985]

Never felt that Titanic is the best movie ever. I don't own a copy of Titanic but I see it from time to time on TV. If you ask me I'd tell you the best movie ever is The Matrix [Bionicman]

I never thought the best movie ever made is Titanic. Even though it is a great movie and I usally watch it when its on tv every now and then. But my favorite movie is The Watchmen just love that movie. What puts it over the top is the soundtrack because the songs go perfect with the movie. [arcidy]

Hi hotsummer, I certainly never thought of Titanic as a good film in the first place, I thought it was a very poor imitation of the original film 'A Night to Remember' which was much better and focused on the event and didn't need to introduce a love interest. I don't remember how I came to see the film Titanic but wouldn't bother watching it again. The greatest film for me remains 'Once Upon a Time in America', another epic but this one has great style. [thea09]

Hardly. I don't think I even saw the whole movie ever. I've seen bits and pieces and keep meaning to watch the whole thing but have never really gotten motivated about it. I don't see what everyone thinks is so great. No one has ever been able to justify to me all the hoopla around this movie. For better love stories, try the original Love Story or Love and Basketball. Just my opinion. [cripfemme]

no i do not and i watched this movie under duress, i am not a romance movie kinda girl. the one movie that trully blew my mind was the matrix, i remember the first time that i watched it and i saw that opening sequence, i remember those first ten minutes until a little after trinity enters the phone booth, i was like wha.....? it wa jaw dropping for me, and it was the first time really that that sort of ilming had been done. there are others too though like the original star wars trilogy, that blew my mind too. they did so much with so little and no aid of cgi, awesomeness! [mama_bear]

Naa..... best movie isn't Titanic for sure. According to me the best movie ever was The Shawshank Redemption. That was one hell of movie. The kind which u can hail as the very best without any second thoughts........ [anirbano]

I don't think that there's such thing as the best movie of all times.Who can decide it?For my 5-year old niece the best movie ever is Barbie and the Magic of Pegasus.lolMy grandpa loved old war movies.I'm a cinema lover in general. From white/black to the newest fantastic thrillers.I have Titanic dvd in my collection because I can't deny it's commercial success.I have a few rarities that never received an academy award, but they're great movies too. It's like to choose the prettiest girl in the world. So many gorgeous ladies, and they are so different! How can one girl represent the beauty or one movie - the whole cinema? No way. [silvercoin]

I never considered it the best film ever. It is a good classic movie but not the best for me. Transformers has my vote! :) [kenchobi]

Hi hot summer.I dont know if it is the best movie I ever watched but it is definitely one of the best movies I ever saw.I also like a lot of other movies including The Dark Knight,The Shawsank Redemption,Forrest Gump etc..But there is something special in Titanic but makes it different from all other movies that I have watched.. [Shames]

Iam not much of a movie goer but I like Harry Potter. I really enjoyed watching it because I like fantasy and adventure movie.Titanic is kinda boring for me. It's not my type of movie. [ilovechocolate]

yeah i still think its the best movie i saw. when ever i watch i still cry at the end of the movie. i cant wait till they release it on bluray hope its soon so i can watch it again. [AznBombr1022]

The Godfather would be my first chance. [Hucheng]

Though the movie was great, I think it was pretty much overrated. Steven Speilberg did a great job of doing "Titanic" as well as Leonardo di Caprio and Kate Winslet and the story was great but to say that it was the best movie ever might be too much. The plot was great and Speilberg did well in incorporating the facts of what really happened to Titanic with a fictional love story which really spiced up the whole film. I can say that it was one of the better movies ever made. It grossed well internationally and was openly accepted worldwide by moviegoers. There are a lot of other movies that can top Titanic though. The "Transformers" series did quite well in the box office and the legendary "The Sound of Music". I rank Titanic as one of the best love story themed movies I've ever seen. I'm not really a fan of love stories but the plot of the film is a very moving and touching one especially when it ended up tragically. Titanic and My Sassy Girl is the best love story movies I've ever seen. [boybato]

No, not for me..The remake of the original, which was by far the best one, with Leonardo D. and Kate Winslow in my opinion, sucked..I'll never understand the rave reviews and all the nominations..To each his own I guess..It is so hard for me to claim one movie as my favorite ever..Too many and also unfair to compare totally different type of stories and all levels of talent in actors..I do have a couple that I can watch over and over again, which tells me its a good movie..A few of those are Rainman...Trains planes and Automobiles, On Golden Pond, A River Runs Through It, The Horse Whisperer,,just to name a few..Now how can you compare any one of those movies to the other..You cant..All great however.. [sulsisels]

Nah... Titanic had it time of glory .. but it is not the best movie ever made.... it is history and there are many new movies which have crossed the fan rating of titanic such as Gladiator or Lord of the Rings series.... there are many other movies than these .. and there is lot to see and admire in this beautiful world .... and many movies to watch of many movies to make.... [miks_redhot]

I don't think The Titanic is the best ever movie..for me, Transformers 2 is the best movie this year...and one more is Dark Night.. [terozua]

Tried to watch the Titanic several times on cable TV. I never could get to the ending, was too long for me. As for being the greatest flick of all time, my answer would be no way. It isn't even the best romantic movie of all time. For me that honor belongs to Wuthering Heights(1939). I judge a movie by the way it effects me. Does it make me think, cry or make me feel good. [glambank]

Contrary to many other people think in this discussion, in my perspective Titanic is indeed one of the greatest movie ever made. It is actually about a simple love story but with the whole Titanic thingy as their background. A great movie does not need a very grandeur story or groundbreaking, sometimes a simple one can make a great movie. I will put Titanic with other great movies: Wizard of Oz, Gone With The Wind, Casablanca, Sound Of Music, Godfather, Star Wars, Matrix, and the last great epic in this decade : The Lord Of The Rings trilogy [sophisticated_boy]
oh yeah add Dark Knight and Finding Nemo for the last great movies of the decade [sophisticated_boy]

Although The Titanic is a fantastic movie, I don't believe it is the best. There are many more movies made better, performed better, had better actors. It's on my list of favorite movies, but not the best movie ever. [virusxtreme24]

I don't care for the titanic to be the greatest movie...I think Murphy's romance is! [RuthieAppleby]

yes for me the best movie is titanic i watch this movie tree times, and very great and cool movie, bigger hits movie i have no copy of dvd of titanic if i have this copy of dvd i will always watch this movie everyday i am the bigger fan of titanic movie i don't like twilight for me twilight is "BORING" movie when i watch this movie i am so very bored, Harry potter is great magic Transformer is cool ang great movie also. happy my lotting [jen14ed]

yeah i do like titanic coz it involves love and disaster. but nowadyas many movies that hits like harry potter ( i really love this movie, i have dvd series on this movie) and now i will love the twilight series also. [fheiyl]

I think their are a lot of good movies out there that are better than the Titanic. For me I would have to say Transformers is one of them, its probably because I am not a fan of romantic movies. [elmasahe]

In my opinion there are more interesting movies than Titanic which can be nominated as the greatest movies, take V for Vendetta, Schindler's List, 1984, Casablanca, or the Indiana Jones movies for example. [davidabraham]

Titanic is definately among the Best ever Movies made. However many movies have been made which are better than Titanic. As far as the Movies of that era is concerned, Titanic was the best. But today many other movies have Overtaken Titanic. But still I always watch Titanic whenever it is screened on the Television. [murtuza89]

Most people around me thinks that it was the best movie ever and some people even got puzzled at me why I didnt see it as the best film. I guess different opinions really vary from one person to another. The best movie for me if we're talking of a lovestory is SERENDIPITY, though its not really on special effects but I like the theme. When we're looking also into special effects, I would go for the Lord of the Rings Trilogy, it has both the effects and JRR tolkien had a very creative mind to create all these amazing characters, the settings, their physical features and the flow of the story. [trelsue]

now i don't think so its modern now but its one of the best romantic movie ever!!!!!i will always remember that movie..... [warren06]

Hello hotsummer, I watched Titanic and I agree that it was great... that time but for now, I think there are many new good movies. I don't watch Twilight or Harry Porter but I like Transformer and I think it's a good movie to replace the all time favorite Titanic. I have a copy of Titanic DVD but I only watched once after watching the movie at the cinema. There is no more thrills or feelings after watching it once or twice. [gr8life]

Titanic is the top earning movie. But it stops there. By the way, if you adjust inflated price, I think Gone With The Wind is the top selling. Twilight, Harry Potter and Transformers are different genre. These are crowd pleasers. So, they are a little different. I prefer Harry Potter over Titanic anytime. [starlight70]

I never thought that titanic is the best movie ever. the movie was nice and it believed to be the top grosser movie of all time. [chenee08]

Different people can have different opinions. I had watched this movie, and it's OK, but it is not as moving as I expected to. Perhaps I feel that it is not suitable for Rose to love Jack when she had a Fiancé. And it seems that she loved Jack in quite a short time and I doubted whether this kind of love could be so strong. I love China [youless]
yeah. i think that this movie is not that great. i didn't like the movie. i don't like the love story either. [hotsummer]

Titanic is a great movies and what I like about this movies their is no trilogy or series which like the new movies where the moviegoers are expected to see the next movie in order to fully understand the story. i have many favorites movies, ranging from classical to the new movies. The titanic movies show the concept of the history of the past eras, it captivates the glorious past years and you could also see the manner of cultures, dressing and attitudes of the people during those times. Every time, I watch it it leaves really a eternal impression on my mind. It is a true tragedy story and a love romance which even makes the movies exciting and unforgettable. Also, the song of Celine Dion every time I heard it, I always remember the Titanic movies. It gives me a tingling and cooling sensation, imagine being on a snowy seas, it quite cold out there..It is sad ending but it could happen to anyone. The primary lesson whatever grandeur a man boost it tend to fall down when calamity test human pride over the will of God. a mixtures of different personalities are being describe in the scenes and if you are going to put yourself in the situation. You could really feel the emotion, the desire of the panicking passengers to survive, love is tested between lovers, old and friends loyalty. Then, it comes the test of faith of various nationalities and religion and sects unite to pray to the Lord. I have my own DVD's and even movie producer are trying to make another copycat of the movies is still unmatched to the great caption of the scenes. About the new movies, I find them as a short entertainment, fully commercialized with little values. they appeal to the teenagers who watch it ,because the hottest teenage stars are one of the casts. Comparing twilight, Transformers and Harry Potter. I go for harry Potter as I love adventures, fantasy and witchcraft.. [neelianoscet]

Ya It is one of my best movie but there are others which are good to me after titanic..and i am waiting for more numbers in future ....I have to wait..See whcih movie will be in list...... [phanendrav]

Yeah, I do think it's the best movie ever because until now it's still in my memory..I can still remember the scenes there, a true love story...and also a sad story as well. I love Twilight, Harry Potter and Transformers, but I don't think these movies are the greatest of all...Happy Mylotting!!! [joannaleed]

I loved Titanic but I wouldn't call it the best movie ever. There are far too many greats to even put this one close to the very tippy top. [ddhawkins63]

I wasn't that crazy about the movie. I think I had heard so much about it before I finally saw it that my expectations were too high. Yes, I enjoyed it, but I didn't think it was as fantastic as most people thought. I never purchased the movie. My favorite all-time classics are usually old musicals like West Side Story, Singing in the Rain, etc. I also love Paulie Shore's Son-In-Law - that movie always makes me laugh. [renitaperrone]

I loved that movie and I still love it although it's definitely not one of my favourites. I still love that old classic 'The Towering Inferno' starring Paul Newman and a few other major greats! I do love the Harry Potter films as well and they are a great form of escapism for me, I just love to escape into those strange worlds! I have the Titanic on the original vhs tape, old news now but there you go, I will always cherish the tape. Andrew [AndrewFreyne]

Critically, this has not been generally seen as the best movie ever, ever. Despite the record breaking oscars, it was slated by many at at the time. However, it is interesting and powerful, and academic books such as one of the British Film Institute series were written on it. I hated it at first but it became an important film for me, and I have rewatched it many times - partly as I teach a course on it. Biggest doesn't mean best by a long way in films. I wouldn't rate any of your final suggestions at the best movie of any time. Titanic at least won awards and had high quality performances, not just big names. Some of the above had neither, and are likely to be forgotten. I think that Harry Potter the books may live on longer than the films. 'Greatest ever' neeeds some hindsight, some longevity For me, the best movie of all time is Elizabeth (1998). [Elspethr]

I still think that Titanic is a very good speech this power a total film, although I have sean three times, but every time I see or feel very touching,I like this touching film, but also hope that more this touching movie speech. [apzheng123]

I've never seen it and don't plan to. I think the best movie ever made was probably The Wizard of Oz or The Final Countdown [ElicBxn]

hi.... i like this movie vey much, and this movie made a big hit in the whole world. When I saw this movie again i also enjoyed it very well especially the songs and the last scenes. It is taken from a real encounter and still after many years I like it very much... what about others... please feel free to discuss... [panjababu]

wow I thought it was only me. I did not understant what they big hype was. Ok maybe because it was a trajedy at sea. I understand that part but It was just like a rich, poor movie. The rich got saved first, whatever. The one thing that bothered me was leonardo did not get recognized for the oscars, but then again he was representing the poor. I think the girl one or nominated I could be wrong. I though Leonardo did a great job but it is not a movie I will watch over and over. [gossipzz]

hmm.. now i have great movies that i have seen. but sometimes i also think that titanic is also the best. :P [xhaimacoy]

while i thought it was a really good movie i never thought it was the best movie ever. i think that GONE WITH THE WIND is the best movie ever and i could watch it over and over again. it is a matter of personal preference for certain. i enjoy movies as they entertain and give us all a chance to escape and experience things we might not otherwise experience in life. i like going to the movies and watching them at home as well. [mikeysmom]

If not for the background of the sinking of the Titanic, this film will be just one more weepy film fit for star-crossed lovers. I would rate it as an average film, no more and no less.Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet did okay for the movie- not exactly Academy award performances. I think they won that year at the Academy because there were few choices for the Academy members to choose from. Yes, I have see Titanic subsequently on a DVD; my impressions remain so. To me, the greatest film ever made is still Ben-Hur, the tale of a prince turned prisoner and then his triumphant return to Rome to compete in the chariot race to avenge the wrong done to his family. There is none like to this day....not even Return of the King. Period. [jonjee0203]

When I first saw Titanic, I was engrossed by it. But, now, not so much. In fact, not at all. I actually cried at the end of the movie. My sister and I were almost in hysterics, we were crying so much. Mind you, I would never admit that outloud. I think the reason the movie got the better of me emotionally was because we just found out our dad had terminal cancer and only had a few months to live. (Sigh...) I The greatest movie for me has to be Shawshank Redemption. I could watch that once a week. [day_start]

Never felt that it was the greatest movie. It had good special effects and well directed. I think I have just watched it once. Did not feel like watching the movie again. [VANILLAREY]

i personally like titanic....i was not allowed in the theater to see the movie, 'cause i am too young , but anyhow i watched the movie, but i could not understand the movie on that time, but when i reached 16, i saw the movie, the real love feelings sprung into my heart...the impression will never get erased.. i took 4 days actually to recover from the effect of the movie..now iam 19 ..i still like the movie...its one of the best, but not the best of all... i like some other movies...i love movies which entertain me... ice age, Madagascar, open season.. i love these movies...they are the best ever...the story line was always great.. if some thing very sentimental , i could go for 'cars' the best from pixar studios.. [gunagohan]

I dont think that the Titanic was the best movie ever. Im not sure what the best movie ever will be for me at this tiem either. I like alot of different movies and they keep coming out with good movies all the time. I dont know if there will ever be ONE BEST EVER movie. I dont get ito the Twilight and harry Potter stuff. Just not my type of stories. [nrn2003]

I really didn't like that film. Sure, it represented a piece of history, but it was sad at the end. I always thought the star wars films were better, because for it's time it exceeded in the field of special effects [geminikid]

I've never watched The Titanic, and I hate all the hype around it! The real sinking was a tragedy, why try and romanticize the event? It's disrespectful to those who died, in my opinion. Haven't seen Twilight or Transformers either. Again, wayyyy too much hype. I have enjoyed the Harry Potter movies, though I tend to watch them years after they hit theaters. At this moment, I've only seen a couple of them. I don't really have a "greatest ever" movie. If we went by categories (comedy, musical, horror, etc), it'd be easier to pick each from that. By all-time faveorite? Not sure. There are very few movies I watch more than once... [goodnightmoon]

Titanic was a great movie. But I do not compare Titanic with movies like Harry Potter and Transformers. Maybe Twilight if you wish to only call Titanic a love movie. It was also a movie was trying to explain love between two people in a real life event. Twilight in the other hand is a fantasy that involves love. Titanic is a very great romance movie. I believe there are many out there but Titanic has lots of history which is a good brand name for a movie that carries on if your born during that time of the release of the movie. God bless [doggyhouz]

No I never really thought that but the genre of the movie The Titanic was never really my style so it's not really a fair judgement. I'm a bigger fan of independent films because they usually have really interesting ideas and writing in them. I usually don't like mainstream movies because a lot of them are just kind of the same and written in the same way. All targeted towards a large general audience. [jambi462]

I enjoyed Titanic when I first saw it and cried my eyes out for the duration but I have seen it again and I am a little over it now and I am not sure I would classify it the greatest movie. I have seen others since that were probably better like The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button for example; I saw it ages ago and I still can't stop raving about it! [paula27661]

I have NEVER felt that Titanic was the best movie ever. It's hard to say what is because everyone has different tastes and sensibilities. Even for one person to name a favourite I feel would be hard to do. It is for me. I enjoy various genres immensely and it's difficult even to nominate a favourite genre. I also tried to narrow down a favourite movie by actors. I have lots of actors I enjoy, way too many to choose a favourite. Suffice to say, watching movies is a favourite pastime of mine [MsTickle]

titanic is one of my ten best ever. still, i am enthralled by the number of times kids of around 5 years old watch it. a nephew of mine aged 5 years has literally watched it for a year. sometimes every day, my sister says. and not only her, i have heard this from other people, too, not only friends. [versio9]

Well, I never thought the best movie ever was the Titanic! So I guess this is very easily answered no by me! I just didn't get what everyone was raving about when the movie came out. Was a good movie, but not a great one in my opinion! Just not my taste in movies I guess. [quinnkl]
