We are moving to Ohio in two weeks. The town we are moving to still has a drive-in theater. I havent been to one since I was a teenager. I cant wait to go again. So have you ever been to one? Or are you so young that you've never even heard of one?

The city that I live in (San Jose, CA) still have a drive-in. We actually still go there quite a bit, I mean... there aren't many places that can beat $6.00 for a movie. Besides, we can bring our own food, or go out to eat before, and then head out there and just enjoy the movie in the piece and quiet of our car. My wife and I can talk to each other if we like, converse about the movie... I love Drive-ins. [thrwbckjay67]
Hahaha... we've already ordered out tickets for Shrek 3 online, so we'll be in the indoor theatre, but that would be a fun movie to see at the Drive-in. [thrwbckjay67]
This must be an American thing right? I've never heard of a drive in theatre here in the UK, let alone having gone to one, in fact up until a few years ago our cinemas weren't even the multiplex out of town places that they are today, and to be honest they were probably a darned sight better than they are now. I do like the sound of a drive in theatre though, for novelty of it. [bananamanuk]
I have not been to a drive-in since I was a teen ager, and I am 55 years old, so you know that was a long time ago. I loved the drive-in movies. As a matter of fact We went all the time back then. I have never enjoyed the movies since they did away with them. You are so lucky that the town you are moving to has one, I did not know that they even existed anymore. Is it a small town? There is nothing like being able to be in your own vechile and watch a movie. enjoy!!! [sunlover]
Yup,its a very small town. I cant wait to go. [lightningMD]
Yes, there is a drive-in here about a half hour drive away from me. We go there all the time when it is open during the spring and summer months. The kids just love to go because they get to go in their pj's and bring pillows and blankets. My kids always ask when and if they can go to the outdoor movies theater. It is so cute. It is something I was able to experience as a child and now they are able to enjoy it as well. [jmcafam]
Yup I remember going in my pajamas too. I love being able to bring in our own snacks. [lightningMD]
LOL I'm 23 and I've heard about them, I'm not sure there has ever been on e in Denmark though, I think it's mainly an american thing... [Phlamingho]
There is one about 20 miles from where I live. I haven't been to a drive-in in a long time. There used to be 3 in the city I live in when I was a child, but they have been gone for quite awhile now. I loved to go see movies at the drive-in. [elkhawk]
I'm really excited about going to one again. My daughter is 9 and she thinks it is so cool. Were going to take all our own snacks and stuff. [lightningMD]
I went to the drive-in with my parents a couple of times when I was a little kid. I haven't seen a drive-in theater since those days. [coachflaps]
Oh yes, I used to enjoy going. I'd take blankets & pillows & sit on the hood leaning on the windshield & have the speaker up beside us. I generally went with my sister or a friend. Better view without the window & stuff in the way. [ElicBxn]
We have one here in the town that I live in. I have never been though, you can order all kinds of food too! They have hamburgers, pizza, fries, onion rings...a large menu for a drive-in =) It soulds fun but if I go in my car I would probably fall asleep =) [Michele21]
We still have a drive-in theater! It plays mostly new movies, too. Ours has a playground for the children to play at until the movie starts. They also have an awesome snack bar. We turn the radio to whatever station they use--they don't have those silly "boxes" anymore that hang on the windows, remember them? [bestisyettocome]
I remember the boxes. Ours is playing Shrek 3 right now. I dont know if ours has a playgroung or not. This will be our first time there. [lightningMD]
We had one in Tiffin, OH. We moved and they are getting one in a town about 10 miles away. I love Drive-Ins. It is so much more relaxing to watch a movie or two in a car, than it is in a theater. Much cheaper, also. The last movie that we saw in drive-in was Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. I love drive-in Frech Fries! Yum [sherrir101]
i think there is one here like on d summer tym but i havent been there..i think it'z kinda cool [myahw20]
Unfortunately no we don't, I've never ever seen one :( but I've always wanted to go to one. What do you think about it? Is it better then a normal cinema? [SKLC_PT]
they are cheaper, but sometimes the lighting is bad, like for me, i wouldn't see a scary movie at one b/c it's sometimes hard to see the screen, it's too dark! [mgmagana]
The city I moved from in PA has a drive-in that has been there since the 50's and still up and running. I have a lot of good memories of that place, especially from when I was a teen. There is one here too, but we haven't been to it yet, even though we keep talking about it. Maybe this summer, hubby and I can go there for a 'date'. :) [dlkuku]
WooHoo a date night sounds like fun. I might to do that myself this summer. [lightningMD]
In Italy drive-in theaters doesn't exist at all. I've seen them especially in the american telefilms as "Happy Days", for example or in films like "Grease". [franziska]
We do not have any drive-in theaters anywhere near where I live. I have never actually been to a drive-in theater either but my cousins and I did see our first one when we were staying in a hotel when we were no more then 7 or 8. We were running the halls and my one cousin yelled for the rest of us. We looked out the window and saw two people going at it. Yes, there was porn on the big screen out in the open. [razcal2267]
I wish they had one of those around me. Parents always talk about how "cool" they were, and I've never experienced one. I think if people invested in them, there could be a comeback in them.... [davidsmith4]
Hello, I know that this is from 7 months ago but I just now seen it for the first time. I love going to the drive-ins. We dont have any where I live at but there is a two that is about 2 hours away that still does and sometimes we will go up there for the weekend and go to the drive-in. [hoghoney]
I wish we did but we dont. They were very popular when I was dating. Now everyone goes to the Theatre. I miss the drive ins. I loved them. [villageanne]
There is a drive-in theater about an hour away from us. I have not been in a couple of years, but I really enjoy going. It is a blast. I really enjoy going to the drive-in. My 7 year old daughter enjoys it just as much as going to the theater. It does save a little bit of money because we always bring popcorn and treats from home. When you go to the movie theater you can not necessarily do that. [LilMissB]
I live in a small town in northern INdiana, we stil have a drive in. [Dblabcker2200]
we do not have one near us but I wish that we did.I can remember going when I was a teenager there on a double date and it was something else my dad asked what we watched I told him that it was a funny movie but instead it was a movie that had alot of sex in it. [kylanie]
when i lived in a bigger city we had one with like 4 screens, but it was pretty pricey, 7 bucks per person, so we had to hide people in the trunk, but now in our small city it has 2 screens and it's cheaper, it's 10 dollar per car! we love to go, it's cheap fun! [mgmagana]
i havent been to a drive in theatre in years :( last time i went though i seen jurassic park and the nutty professor.. two great movies to see on the big big screen really.. huge animals and fat people on a massive screen.. awesome eh? anyways yah up here in canada we still have them floating around.. not so much in the city areas but not too far that you couldnt drive from the cities to go see the movies.. although they are dying away.. which sucks! a nice car stereo and a nice drive in theatre is so much better than a theatre you sit in.. its like your own private booth to watch your movie in with no sticky floors or wet seats or people jabbing you with their elbows etc! [CanuckPrince]
Yes we have some around the Pittsburgh area. I haven't been to one either for a long time. They are kind of far from where I live though so that's why I never go but it would be fun to maybe go this summer. [angelface23]
None that I know of in NY where I live, but VT had a couple. I hear one closed and one is still going. I keep bugging my husband to go. He thinks of it as the land of hippies so we don't go very often. I like it there. Take care [writersedge]
We have 2 near me. I know this discussion is from so long ago, but I ran into a website today that reminded me... you can research the history and search for some drive-ins near (or far) from you. http://www.drive-ins.com For those of you who have never heard of them or seen them, this gives a wonderful history from 1933 on... This is one of the wonderful things some of us can share with our children. If they cannot get to one, it is a virtual way to share your history and memories. [lisaviews]
hey i think now u have gone there many time becuase its 10 months old discussion rigt naaaa [simplyman2006]
Hello my city does not have drive in movies or drive in theates. I had visited one around ten years ago, it was a pleasant experience though. Now a days we enjoy movie in tv and using cd or dvd, the movie halls are closing down one by one. Cheers thanks for this nice post. [bhubaneshwars]
