With the onset of DVD's and CD's people find it more comfortable to watch at home. You can put your feet up and be in your pajamas and just lie in the couch and be comfortable.
Are you among those who need to see a movie in the movie house? Or are you contented with the small screen as long as you're more comfortable? Which matters to you most, is it your comfort or your cinematic experience?

I prefer to watch movies on the Internet. It is mucher cheaper and more convinence to me. Besides, movie house sometimes seems a little noisy! Hehe~~ [Yizhihenanjing]
as for me i like to watch them in my house!! y!??? its coz its more comfortable as u said!! then u can watch the same movie again and again how many times ever u want!! there is no restriction in that!! that is y i prefer watching movies in home!!! happy lotting [magna86]
i like watching movies in the movie house. as it is the thing that i usually dont get at all.watching a movie at home any one can get anytime . but watching in movie house is at most different in my case . [starash007]
I think it is more comfortable wacthing movie in the house! But when we get invited from our friends to see movie we go watch movie in the theater! After a while it will be fun because it is a big screen with pop corn! [CJay77]
At times I do like watching the new movies that have just started playing at the movie theatre. It just feels more exciting watching the big silverscreen with the loud surround sound. I love to order popcorn and candy and get a great big coke. I try to get tickets free when I can through various promotions. I am always looking for bargains. You can see the previews of the upcoming movies and that's exciting. However most of the time I enjoy to rent DVDs or buy them or just watch HBO, Showtime, Starz and Cinemax on TV for some really great movies! [barbiedollgirl]
Thanks for giving me the br! =) [barbiedollgirl]
Yes, I do. Every Saturday. lol I don't mind watching movies on DVD but sometimes nothing compares to the feeling of having seen the movies I anticipated on the big screen. I may have been disappointed with some I saw but nevertheless I had a great time. I only pick those movies I think are worth seeing on the big screen though. [joliefille]
Yes I actually still do. lol Although I prefer to watch movies at home, if I really like a movie or have waited for a long time to watch a good movie, I won't hesitate to go to the mall and watch it at the theater. It is more comfortable at home though as I can move more and I have more control over the movie. happy [zeroflashx2]
I like to watch the movies in the movie house.I watch each and every good movies in movie house.I prefer to watch the flop movies in DVD's at my home.I don't want to waste that much money for bad movies. So, i prefer only watching hit movies in movie house. But i watch all the movies in dvd's at my home with all my family members. [saajaan]
I didn't go to the cinema for more than 4 years. My last visiting to the cinema was with my wife to see Lord of the ring. Do you believe she was sleep in the cinema??? [nizhama2]
hahaha. must have been so tired. i also rarely go to the moviehouse nowadays. i love doing a dvd marathon anyitme of the day when i don't have to go to work. guess it's time to invite your wife out gain and just make sure she get a hell lot of sleep before you do. cheers! [dare2fail]
I still watch movies in moviehouses as I don't have a big flat screen yet...hopefully I'll get one and have my own entertainment room (wishes!) Also, watching movies in moviehouses is also a way for me to bond with my friends, family and especially my daughter. We get to share popcorn while watching movies, then have dinner afterwards where we talk about the movie we have just watched. Actually my daughter and I just came home now after watching Wall-E, we both love it :) [purple_chocolat]
yeah, I'm still watching movies in moviehouses. I don't care if the tickets are expensive but as long as they got good sound quality, big screen, aircond, I have no regret at all. Beside, my house doesn't have LCD or flatscreen tv. All I have is just that old school CRT tv. 20" precisely.I usually go with my wife but right now, I going myself because my wife is 6 month pregnant and she rather stay home resting. By the way, it takes a long time for us in my country to receive a good and original dvd for the latest movie. If I'm not mistaken, 3 month after the movie stop showing. What's available is that pirated dvd that taken from the cinema. Who wants to watch that anyway? The pictures are bad not to mention the sound. The price almost the same as the tickets itself. [strikeclow]
yeah i do....its a different experience when you were in a movie house. But sometimes i need to be more practical so better watch it in dvd's. But still i love watching movies in cinema haus.. [jhenn22]
ya i love to watch movies in cinema halls. [arko006]
i enjoyed watching DVD's at home. but I also enjoyed watching movies in a theater house. but i just go to movie house if i want to see the movie in a giant screen. and when i want to be with those people who also love the movie i am watching. i want someone to shout and scream with melol my family hates me when i am screaminglol [hornetlover]
Although it's cool seeing movies on the huge screen, it's so expensive! $10 for a movie nowadays. I'd rather spend my money on something I can enjoy for more than 2 hours... so I like renting movies or watching them on TV at home. [doresammi]
Hi friend, since 9 years I haven't been to a movie house. We watch at home but not much.as day to day life has become very hectic, going to moviehouses is decreasing day by day among people.we feel exhausting to go to a movie house and sit in a place without moving for hours together.so people prefer watching at home nowadays. As technology has improved and we get home theatres for reasonable price and also we get theatre effect at home.so we sit at home and watch happily. [sumiirajj]
I think it depends whom actually you are watching with and depend on the type of movie especially those that need those cinematic effect to bring out the effect. Sometimes when i watch it at home, I will get a lot of disturbance from the home phone and family member which I couldn't really fully concentrate on the movie. [949011]
I don't watch movies for more than one year.I like go to the movie house to watch because there have good atmosphere.I will go to the movie house only when the main performer is XingChi Zhou. [seeforback]
hi jenaisle, the only reason i go to theater is to watch movies. so i used to choose the nearest theater which provide the cheapest ticket lol as now dvds and vcds are broadly available, i prefer watch movies by renting them than going to theater. the cinematic experience is not so important for me. [sutanhartanto]
Dear friend, I do see movie in my laptop and moreover I get much satisfied when I see movies in movie house that too if it is a good movies then I could get all my concentrations into that without any disturbances from others and moreover the sound and other technical effects too get much better when I see in the movie house.happy [SHAMRACK]
For me, it often depends on the movie. Some movies are best watched in a theater with others around you who are also laughing or crying or somehow being touched emotionally. Sometimes the big screen presents a movie better. (And I will never have a huge TV at home...unless someday we can't buy smaller ones. I don't want a home theater.) Some movies present well on a small screen and are better shared with close friends and relatives. And some movies are great to watch alone at home. It all depends... [kenzie45230]
Sometimes, I'm a cheapskate, though. I'll wait for a movie to go from the regular theater to the cheapie one - where it only costs $2.50. happy You know...they used to be dollar theaters. [kenzie45230]
I call the movie house the cinema, but yes I go. I would say I go once every month or every two months. I am content with the small screen though, but I go to the big screen for a change, a day out with my friends, otherwise I get bored doing the same thing over and over again. I can be perfectly comfortable in the cinema, so to me it the cost, I tend to watch more things at home on the TV as they are free to watch, whereas going to the cinema and buying DVDs cost money. [Elixiress]
Well, i still go out to the movies with friends if its not convienient to watch at home (i dont own a tv actually!), but ur right, its more comfortable at home. U can grab a bite to eat, have some tea, or whatever, its much more relaxed. U can pause, and go to the toilet if you want. [skaterx]
yeah ..i do but not frequent..that is if i like to see movies such as spiderman or batman and the likes which is of course good to watch in big screen compared in dvds or whatever.. [vanities]
I usually buy dvd or download from internet then watch in my computer. I rarely watch the movie in cinema. But sometimes I get bore and hate when I buy the dvd with not full of subtitle, so I will not understand the movie story. If the movie is nice and I will watch it in movie house then buy the dvd or download it to watch for second times. [winzpc]
yes some time ... when i am in a movie mood ... =] [godpower1k1]
happyWell, with the current economic situation in our country, it is better to stay put and watch cable tv or through the internet nowadays. It is really expensive and as of the moment its a drain in the pocket. Of course there is always the difference in the experience when you watch it on the big screen. But then again, sometimes we have to sacrifice pleasure for what we really need. Best to you! [jpso138]
I am one of the people who watch movies in cinemas. I love that. I don't know, but I enjoy going to the movie house and watch the movies I like especially when my husband and I are dating. We love to sit there, order some beer or coffee, and french fries. I still find it romantic. [allurejan]
I still love the experience of going to the movies its fun, when i was really little i use to go to those old drive inns and i still like going to the indoor theater though its not quite the same as the drive in i think going to the movies is a grate way to get out of the house and have fun and experience the movie with a friend or with the rest of the world i like buying DVD'S but going to the movies is fun to. [apples99]
Considering the crisis nowadays, i never watched movie at the movie house anymore, what for? I am contented with DVD's or CD's and better off watching it at home with your family, in that way you are not just saving money you also have time bonding with your family, right? [prettyD]
Wow this is my first time ever hearing someone call a move theater a movie house before. I prefer to go to the movie theater and watch a movie there. It is still cheap to go to the movies where I live at. It is only 3 dollars for a movie. SO it does not bother me to go to the movies and watch a show there. Plus it really is that noisy there anyways. [tigger44]
I prefer to watch movies on the internet. It is much cheaper to me. I think it is more comfortable watching movie n the house. But when get invited from our friends to see movie we go watch movie in the theater. After a while it will be fun because it is a big screen with pop corn. [kaikai2009]
We watched DVD movies at home even the movie is 2 months old already from viewing in a movie house..It's all the same..Only, during special occasion, we go at a movie house to watch a movie especially when it is talked of the town.happy..Cheers my friend! [norman7]
I sometimes do watch movies in theaters but only for movies that i really really like to watch. Watching in theaters now is very expensive so i usually buy dvds and watch it with my family at home, and i find more comfortable... [mycharm88]
It's been three years since i last step on a movie house. Now that we had dvd in the house i just rent cd or dvd of my favorite films and watch it in my room. So convenient and i can save money too. [lyzabelle]
Hi Jenaisle, I don't watch a lot of movies anymore, but when I do it's always at home. I'm content with the small screen and I feel more comfortable at home. Blessings. [Pose123]
Hello Jenaisle. I do enjoy watching my favourite movies at home in my bed wearing just my pj. In most cases, i do prefer my home as it is more comfortable. I do not want to get stuck in the traffic. Or worse, I need a good budget, since if i go out, my son would tag along with me! [sassyangelee]
Yes, I am. But, I do choose the movie. e.g. I don't watch "pride and prejudice" in movie house and "Kongfu Panda" is the laugh-together movie which deserves a movie house. So, I enjoy the chosen movie in the movie house. But nowadays, the movie-house deserved movie is less and less~~~ [dorothy822]
Our screen in the house is a bit large. Not huge but bigger than most. I love staying at home watching movies. It is much more comfortable than going to a movie house. And the perk to it is if you want to go and do something like pop popcorn or have to go to the bathroom you just press the pause button and don't miss anything. I haven't been to a movie in the theater in a very long time. [sunshinelady]
I have not been to the cinema for years, I think that if I remember rightly the last time I went to the cinema was to see the bride of chucky. That film was so rubbish that I vowed never to waste my money again! Now we just get them all on dvd if we want to watch a film. It is actually better for me to do this, as I am one of those people who gets bored of sitting quiet and so will become really fidgety and will start to talk halfway through a film! [gemini_rose]
I will only go to the theatre if it is a movie I really want to see - Wild Hogs, Hairspray and Mamma Mia being the most recent. I have fibromyalgia and tinnitus (ringing in the ears). I find the large screen (depending on scenes) can make me nauseaus, and the high volume makes my ears ring even louder and will also upset my tummy. I've never been sick but I did have to leave the theatre for a break in the middle of the movie once. I'm more tolerable now but I usually wait for the DVD. In the cases of the above movies, we see them in the theatre and also purchase the DVD. There are some movies we just can't get enough of! [patgalca]
I don't watch movies much these days, but I love going to the cinema. I love the big screen, the atmosphere and the popcorn! Plus I like the feeling of sharing the experience with lots of other people; seeing their reactions to things, and being part of something. I don't get the chance to go very often now as I have a two-year old who's too young and restless to take with me! However, I did go one weekend last month as my husband took our daughter out for the day and so I had some free time. It was a great experience for me, although I was sooo shocked at how expensive it is now!! It's definitely cheaper to watch a DVD or a film on TV. shocked But not so much fun. [liquorice]
yes i definitely still catch movies in the cinema. there are shows that must be caught in the cinema. i don't have a very big tv at home so the special effects will be lost. i don't mind watching movies that are mainly on storyline at home. but for movies that sells based on special effects, a trip to the cinema is a must. a few movies i can think of that falls into this category with be transformer, lord of the rings trilogy and die hard 4. i can't imagine watching them at home, it'll be such a waste. cheers ;p [applefreak]
when my wife deliver my baby girl that was the time I stop to go to Cinema and I just provide it with my DVD copy in which it is comfortable for me to sit with my wife while watching a movie and that was the reason I bought a Panasonic 32 inches television "LCD" and Home Teatre Speaker.. [iyah10]
I love going to the cinema, I just wish other people could be quiet when you're trying to watch the film! I love the whole experience of going to a cinema, and really find it fun. There's a new cinema opening in my city next month, and I can't wait! [bunzor]
Hi Jena! Lately, we love going to the movies, me and the kids. Because more than the movie experience, is the bonding moments we shared together. Sure, we do watch at home too, but when we go out to the movies there are still lots of activities we can do afterwards. Unlike at home, you'll always see something needs to be fixed, something needs to be picked up, move this there, etc. So a change of environment I believe can help a lot to destress and make a genuine bonding moment. [roysville]
Yes, but not too often. We usually go in the middle of the day on a weekday. I also like to go to drive ins. This year we have gone to see three movies. That is big for us. Usually once is about our limit.happy [Ruthep]
hi jenaisle, i like to watch movies in internet. I like it very much take care. have a nice day. [vimaal]
I would say the movie theatre is always my first choice, yes it gets pricy, yes I will turn it down if I have already been to the movies 2 times so far in the month...sometimes just go depending on the movie ie: The Dark Knight in IMAX Experience - TOTALLY WORTH IT!!!! [candymarie]
The last movie we watched was Vantage Point aand that was on my birthday. And we will go to another movie on my husband's birthday. The last movie we saw was A Clear and Present Danger and before that Star Trek the new remastered version, so you see most of our movies we see at home on our Tv or we buy the Cd. The only time we see movies at the theater is if it is something special and we really hate to sit in those small seats. When I was young, movie houses were places of luxury with balconies and wide enough seats, but not anymore. We have a wide screen at home so it is almost like the movie house and no one blocks my view. [suspenseful]
I am more comfortable watching movies at home. I rent a lot online from netflix. Instead of going to the movies. [Shaun72]
We don't go to the movie theater much anymore. We usually just rent movies or buy them and watch them at home. We have a little 2 year old so it's just much easier to watch them at home. [sweetgirl_k1]
Hello my dear Jenaisle Ji, Watching movie in cinema-halls is out-dated for me, because of time factor. I do not get time. It is very much tiresome procedure, I have to find suitabole time, with my hubby, as he serves abroad, I feel it is wastage of time, then to remain with him for another taht much time. Next, I have to book the tickets. After reaching there, life is not safe because of terrorist actions. Lastly, but never the least, my 15 months old baby would not allow and disturb others. so I confine to my TV . have a graet day. rasp [shalu1975]
Hello to everyone, thanks for all your inputs, it has been fun and enlightening reading them all; and I agree with the reasons cited. Of course different strokes for different folks. What counts is that we get to watch a movie the way we want it to and ENJOY the experience. I appreciate all your input, all the best and happy mylotting. [Jenaisle]
Sometimes I watch movie in the movie house, but as of now because of economic crisis i do prefer watching it at home with my family. [LaurenceCruz]
I normally prefer watching a movie in the comfort of my home. I think that though the quality of sound, big screen and ambiance is far better in theaters bu normally that can not match with the comfort of watching a movie while laying down on you bed or couch. However, I occasionally go to theater also if some really compelling movie is to be watched. Then I brave all the discomfort of traffic, sitting for long hours in a chair of theater and rubbing shoulder with the moviegoers. [suruchi86]
Yes I do, especially when it's a new movie that I would like to see. Also, when it comes out on DVD I would borrow the DVD to watch again. I even watch movies on my computer. [gtdonna]
It really depends on the movie wether I want to see it in the theater or not. I love to see some action adventures on the big screen but romance on the home screen set up for snuggling. [bellaofchaos]
Sometimes, if a movie promises to be of good quality, I will see it in a movie theater. Depends on the movie. [DaddyOfTheRose]
Almost all the movies or telefilms could be downloaded from the internet, it is convenient for me to do that while saving the tickets for those and energy sources for going out. It is comfortable to enjoy them at home with good sound effects while lying in the sofa, drinking coffee, chatting with families freely. [snebxu66]
happyTo all of you, thanks guy for all your inputs. Happy mylotting! [Jenaisle]
I'd love to watch movies in the comfort of my house. It is more comfortable and inexpensive, but I still go to movie houses when invited by my friends. [katkat]
hi jena! happy for me it depends on what kind of movie it is. for action, adventure and horror movies, i prefer to watch them in the big screen. i can appreciate the movie more with the big screen and images flashing before my eyes and with the sound effects echoing in my ears and thundering in my chest. as for romantic comedy movies, drama, love stories, i can settle on my dvd player/computer at home. happy [secretbear]
