I have to admit...lately I haven't given myself a lot of time to watch some of my DVD movies that I have in a long, long time...heck I practically live in front of the computer now. I was watching a rather old entertainment show on TV that showed scenes of the movie National Treasure: Book Of Secrets (a movie I haven't seen but would love to get..looks up my alley)--and they had a segment with one of the stars, Jon Voight..and for some reason that made me think of another movie he was in...Lara Croft: Tomb Raider--so turned off the tv and grabbed my DVD copy of it and watched it...and fell in love with this movie all over again
....I fell in love with it the very first time I saw it, back when I had cable (no longer have it....cable that is...sniffle) I just loved the character Lara Croft's kickass attitude, her adventurous spirit, and the whole bit of archeology thing as at one time in my life I was thinking of becoming one (hence my love too for the Indiana Jones series of movies as well--heck I still have my actual Stetson Fedora hat just like his)...I don't think anyone else could have portrayed Lora Croft like Angelina Jolie --of course guys who watched this movie for her figure, and we women were a bit envious of...hey she IS gorgeous!
Anyway...do you ever watch a movie you haven't seen in awhile and love it all over again? What are some of your favorite movies you love to watch that you haven't watched in awhile and remember just why you loved it in the first place?

responses and comments:
Yes I have. A movie came out when I was 16. It starred Tom Hanks. I loved this movie. Well recently they showed it on cable. I have watched it twice this week. It's called "Nothing In Common" and it is fantastic. But then again I am a Tom Hanks fan. [ersmommy1]
Funny, I've never heard of that movie...I do love him in Sleepless In Seattle thoughhappy [pyewacket]
I love The Final Countdown, I just love a good time travel movie. I didn't find the "good looking hero" to my taste, I was a bit more for the "good looking reporter" secondary hero, but more than that, I was into the whole story. I have an online friend that is into the Goblin King (David Bowie) in Labrynth [ElicBxn]
Wow--I'm out of it, I've never seen The Final Countdown or the Philadelphia Experiment--was it on cable too? Wouldn't do any good now even if it was as I no longer have cable--I'm missing out on a lot of movies heresad [pyewacket]
National Treasure:Book of Secrets is a great movie. We went to see it when it was in the theatre and we loved it as we loved the original movie. I am not a big Jolie fan but I like Tomb Raider as well. Most of my favorite movies I do watch regularly, Blade:Trinity, League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, Stealth, State of the Union and Triple X, Harry Potter series (especially Prisoner of Azkaban), Van Helsing, and Xmen, Star Trek and Star Wars. I have been watching a lot of them lately because I got a new big screen tv and it just makes everything so different. [sumofalltears]
You and me both...my favorite Harry Potter movie is the Azkaban one too--I didn't get to see the last Harry Potter movie...usually my movie theatre plays the HP movies...but not when the Order of the Phoenix came out...since I don't have cable couldn't see it that way...guess when I have some extra green stuff will buy it...uh, eventually [pyewacket]
one that comes to mind is "the cat from outer space" it was an old disney movie-but i named my first cat after the cat in the movie (jake). he had a glowing collar he could do things with (move objects and the like) and was on earth looking for supplies. here is the imdb page if you want to check it out http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0077305/ [scarlet_woman]
i will have to look for this pye,it sounds interesting,i'd never seen it before [scarlet_woman]
I would have to say one of my favorite movies is " Somewhere in time", Christopher Reeves played the lead, with Jane Seymore. It was such a sad romantic story. I have seen this movie on TV on and off since it first aired on TV around 1980. It is still one of my favorites, now I might just look for it online and download it and burn it to a cd. [irishmist]
I'll have to see if it's compatible with Mac computers though [pyewacket]
Yes, I would have to say that the movie that did this to me in recent years was Guys And Dolls. When I was still living at home my sister Vicky and I used to love to watch this movie and last year I watched it after not seeing it in years and I fell in love with it all over again. I love that movie and I love the musical aspect of it too. Plus, come on, Marlon Brando was so HOT!!! [SassyKittyKat]
yes, there are a lot of great ones out there... [SassyKittyKat]
The old King Kong movie was on television the other day. We got interested in it because they were also going to show the follow up version of King Kong, then the newest release of it. We watched all three versions. The first one ended up being a bit comical, compared to the modern version. The second one was okay, but the third one with Adrien Brody and Jack Black literally made me weep...... I had never seen the third version and I must say, it was the absolute best version I had ever seen of the classic movie. I couldn't believe I was weeping for Kong like was I was. I will surely watch it again. Another great one is Somewhere In Time. It always makes me cry. Cat On A Hot Tin Roof is another favorite of mine and the old classics like Peyton Place and Return to Peyton Place are movies I stop everything for, grab a blanket and big bowl of popcorn - plop down on the sofa and watch wide-eyed. [terilee79720]
I never cared for the original version of King Kong to be honest...but yup did love the one with Adrian Brody in it--fell in love with that guy, he has a real romantic charm to him, doesn't he? Hehe. And yep too...I loved how Peter Jackson made you feel for Kong and made him "sensitive" [pyewacket]
I have 2 that are reacent SHall we dance: THink it richard Geer in it and he goes to a dance studio and learns ball room dancing as I love dancing this was a great movie to watch and watch it when ever we think about it. the other one is Second hand Lions: Robert DUvall in it but its the little boy that carres the show just to watch his face is great and it was the last movie my hubby ever watched. [Lakota12]
well I am not sure if I have seen that movie or not but when it comes on tv I will be sure to watch it hugs [Lakota12]
LOL funny enough, I was just watching one! Night at the Roxbury...which I had totally forgot I just love to bits....Why? Cause its so stupid and makes me giggle like crazy and i just love Chris Kattan.. [Ravenladyj]
I agree, I sometimes watch movies too that are soooo dumb, but still love them [pyewacket]
I have been doing a lot of that lately... as I have been spending the last twelve months building myself a collection of DVDs with all my favourite movies of the last 40 years. I have movies coming out of my ears and cannot keep up. [Aussies2007]
I would love to see The Holiday, and Cold Mountain....ah, did see Step Mom..a real tearjerker--love both Juila Roberts and Susan Sarandon [pyewacket]
I want to see "National Treasure 2" as well. That looks good. Actually there are several movies coming out this summer that look good lol A movie I hadn't watched in a while but got to recently was "ffolks" (both lower case f's) or it's also known as "North Sea Hijack". I loved watching it again and seeing Roger Moore play a cat loving, woman hating man. Let alone watching him do needle work. He plays a specialist for counter terrorists in England. He's hired when two oil rigs are taken hostage in the North Sea. It also has Anthony Perkins and James Mason in it. Very good movie that really keeps you going. One I'd recommend to anyone. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0081809/ [emeraldisle]
I know. There are several movies coming out this year I want to see but I won't have the money I'm sure. That and dealing with the crowds in movies isn't always easy for me. However when they come out to DVD I might snatch them up lol [emeraldisle]
Yes, I rewatched Fried Green Tomatoes recently. It's a different kind of chick flick than Lara Croft, but some kickass things do happen. I like movies with female camaraderie. So those are usually the ones I end up rewatching. My son is an archeologist, by the way. But he works for the forest service, so he hasn't gotten the fedora and whips yet. Maybe later in his career lol. [Anhedonia]
I never saw Fried Green Tomatoes but would still love to...has a great cast in it....speaking of a sort of chick flick...LOL...how about Thelma & Louise? Also love The Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood [pyewacket]
I like to watch a lot of older films (Twelve Angry Men,Blackboard Jungle,) for several reasons. One being that the emphasis was on the writing of the script rather than relying on action sequences to sell to the masses. The actors (Sidney Poitier,Liz Taylor,Henry Fonda etc..) seemed to also be better at their craft than most of those in existance today.Of any of the more modern films I do think that GLADIATOR was spectacular. [pismeof]
You're right of course...the older say 1930, 1940 movies were quality as it relied more on the story and not razmataz special effects...zooming up a bit even the first three (or should say last three of the series) of Star Wars was better, Chaps. 4, 5, 6--the ones that started it all. [pyewacket]
I have loads of dvd movies collection. I love movies with John Travolta in it. He is a really very good actor and he really plays all his roles well..I don't mind about watching his movies allover again..I never tire of it ..they were all good. I liked the movie Face off and would love to watch it again. I have already watched it a lot of times already but I wouldn't mind watching it again. He was with Nicholas Cage in that Movie were in he played the bad guy. Then they switched faces and lives. It was really good.. I recently fell in love with Transformers.I haven't watched it just a part of it and I was loving it already. I just finished watching it today on the dvd though. It was real great. I am planning to buy the original copy of it even if it's expensive. It's a collection and a must have. [p3halliwel2005]
Yup--do know Face Off...that was a great one! [pyewacket]
Yes ... I watched "Some Like it Hot" the other day. I laugh out loud every time I see it. I have seen this film many many times. Jack Lemmon and Tony Curtis are so funny! And of course I am a big fan of Marilyn Monroe. I have this movie on DVD ... my niece loves this movie too ...she's only 17 ... she is a MM fan and is always begging me to see when she comes over. I love "Gone with the Wind" and never get tired of seeing it! I love "Barefoot in the Park" with Robert Redford and Jane Fonda ... this movie makes me laugh again and again. Another one of my favorites is "The Hustler" with Paul Newman ... this is such a great movie ... but sad. Another great Jack Lemmon favorite of mine is "The Days of Wine and Roses" ... I cry every time. I have a lot of favorite movies but don't really see them because of the time I spend on the computer! [marilynut]
Oh yes the great Jimmy Stewart ... I remember that movie with the beautiful Maureen O'Hara ... very funny! [marilynut]
I can't wait to see National Treasure Book of Secrets! I loved the first movie. We have it on DVD. I didn't think I would like it at first, but after watching it, I was hooked and hoped that there would be a sequel. [ElusiveButterfly]
Like I said I'm dying to see the National Treasure movies...hope to soon [pyewacket]
What did you think of the sequel to Tomb Raider? Do you know my dad doesn't think Angelina Jolie is attractive? He isn't one to know which stars are which, because he just isn't into the latest Hollywood news or movies, and one day he asked who the woman on TV was, and I said it was Angelina Jolie. He couldn't see why people thought she was pretty. I have to say, at that time I felt a great appreciation for my dad. LOL A movie I don't watch a lot, but when it comes on TV, I can't not watch it, is Wild Hearts Can't be Broken. It is hands down an awesome movie. My sister bought it in VHS form, and when it came on DVD, she bought it in that format too! [AmbiePam]
True. You have to wait for like 5 years before they even come on the few channels a person gets for free. [AmbiePam]
good movie are really made to stay in our hearts. for me i had several movie collections i really like to watch over and over again like "an affair to remember", "casablanca", cinema paradiso"," airforce one", " the american president", " what dreams may come", " somewhere in time", " the rock". i also lke musicales "sound of music", "my fair lady", " south pacific",. " the king and I" ( the one with yul bryner), these reminds me of my childhood. [tigerdragon]
yip yip, you got that right! and it has a sequel where they had a child.oh no, there i go again my mind is thinking of other movies i like!dave, someone to watch over me and shinning through where the song i'll be seeing you is featured and how about michael keaton's my life! [tigerdragon]
Yes I do it all the time it drives my wife nuts. I like the movie Some Kind of Wonderful. I also really liked the Patriot, White Men Can't Jump, Armagedon, and You've Got Mail (Which is not usually the kind of movie I like, but for reason I like that movie.) [thedaddym]
Oh, I love The Patriot!...great movie [pyewacket]
Usually, I have the opposite experience. I don't like it as much the second time as I did the first which is why I usuallyonlywatch once.. Two exceptions would be ANNIE HALL & ET. Those are two of my all time favorite movies and I never tire of them. There is an old, old movie called WATERLOO BRIDGE with Robert Taylor and Vivian Leigh that I would like to see again though. I saw it years ago on some ald movie channel and then I watched a Leslie Caron, Danny Kaye remake. The remake (AMERICAN IN PARIS might have been the name)was terrible. It turned it into a musical, gave it a sappy ending and destroyed the story. I'd like to see the original again to see if it was as good as I remember. [irisheyes]
OMG--E.T.....I need a truck load of tissues when I watch that movie..cry [pyewacket]
Yeah, the movie "Night of the Hunter" with Robert Mitchum is a good movie that I haven't seen in a while was on Saturday night. I rent movies from Netflix and I have "Van Helsing" back in my cue. I have "Blade" with Wesley Snipes that I've never seen, as well as "Blade: Trinity" that I've never seen. I've seen "Blade II" twice, and I don't like it as much. [ajmccrary1986]
I've heard Van Helsing is really good..so hope to see it sometime [pyewacket]
i have more than 1000 movies on my file but the movie i love to watched over and over again are "without a paddle and if only"...i recommend the movie to all my friends, classmates and to all my neighbor. i really really to watched it again. did you watched it? [julyteen]
Wow, you really have a lot of movies, but nope, never saw "without a paddle and if only" [pyewacket]
Yes. Recently I re saw Cousins.I fell in love all over again. It is a true romantic comedy. It is equally romantic and comedic, which is hard to do these days. There are many others. You see them and you say to yourself, " I have forgotten how good this was." [sarahruthbeth22]
Oh. you saw Cousin, Cousine? I never saw the French version. I didn't even know it was a remake until a few years after I saw The American version. [sarahruthbeth22]
definitely but lately I haven't been watching many movies though I love them. I fell in love with terms of endearment all over again, and dying young. Actually I liked dying young even better this time around. [winterose]
Yes, I saw dying young and that is a great movie! [pyewacket]
Funny you should mention this since last week i hurt my back so couldn't get around much..and my daughter let me take a few days off work to get better, so i watched some movies and laughed so hard cause i forgot how funny they were..feeling a bit better and think the laughing had something to do with it! [Rosekitty]
Well, they do say laughter is the best medicine...Hhehe. Which movies did you watch? [pyewacket]
Just recently I watched About Last Night for the first time in years. My daughter and I had seen it in the theater when it came out in 1986, I think, and I saw a few times on video after that but I hadn't seen it for years and it was on TV a few weeks ago and I remembered why it had been one of my all-time favorite chick flicks. It may be the original chick flick! I recorded it when it was on so I've watched it a few more times since then. I've never seen Tomb Raider but since you give it such a good review I'll have to look for it. Annie [anniepa]
Mmmm..I just vaguely remember About Last Night...nah...I think one great chick flick is Thelma And Louise..Love that movie...ever see it? [pyewacket]
My Favourite is Gone with the wind but I also enjoy Shrek 1 and 2 those are the kind of films I enjoy and of course Love Stories yep I am a romantic and a softie lol but that is my type of Film that I do enjoy [gabs8513]
Aww--I love the Shrek movies too..think I like Shrek 2 better than one---I love Sleepless In Seattle, While You Were Sleeping...great romantic comedies [pyewacket]
Good Morning Pye,...yes, actually a few come to mind. I love the movie "Dirty Dancing", "Michael", and "Thunderheart". I haven't seen these movies in quite some time and enjoy them when I have the time to watch. Thunderheart might be of some interest to you, and has Val Kilmer in the lead role. Have you seen it? It's a true story and is excellent. [Kashmeresmycat]
oh yes I did see Thunderheart..actually kind of depressing....I mean it's a really great movie--love Graham Greene's character in it...but depressing I thought.... a lot of people think that the autrocities that were done to native peoples ended with Wounded Knee, not realizing it was still alive and kicking in the 1970s...and in some cases still going on--like when ARE they going to release Leonard Peltier? [pyewacket]
There is a movie that was new in the 80s that I loved and that was Top Gun. I can still hear that music and see Tom Cruise in that.. wow! I also love Officer and a Gentleman.. I could watch them over and over. I love how in Officer and a Gentlemen the star picked up the girl out of the factory and walked out with her in love. I can't remember their names, but I love that movie. [OreoCookie3]
Oh wow...you know I haven't seen those movies in ages, but yes do love them...I'm not a great fan of Tom Cruise but did love Top Gun..heck I would LOVE to fly like that myself..hehe...And yes, Officer and a Gentleman..wasn't it Richard Gere in that movie? Opps...yup just checked...the cast in Officer and a Gentleman were Richard Gere, Debra Winger, and David Keith [pyewacket]
then you are probably excited for the latest movie installment of Indiana Jones which would again star Harrison Ford! the trailer is really exciting. i also haven't been watching my dvds because i would be stuck in front of my computer when i'm at home. i only get to watch movies now at the theaters during weekdays after work. not that i don't enjoy it, i'm enjoying every bit of it. i just wish i can watch some of the movies i have on dvd. i would love to watch again my collection especially the Jet Li movies. wink the last time i fell in love again in an old movie that i have watched before was when i saw an old Jet Li movie on tv, that was when i still didn't had any internet connection at home, that was last year. and after seeing that Jet Li movie, it made me buy dvds of Jet Li movies. lol i couldn't help it. i missed his action and kung fu flicks. but up to now, i still haven't finished watching all those dvds. and yet, i'm already planning to buy a dvd of his latest movie which is Forbidden Kingdom. ^__^;; [secretbear]
Oh yep....I'm a real Indiana Jones fan...mmm...wonder if Harrison Ford can "cut" it though...he's not exactly young anymore...LOL [pyewacket]
hi pyewacket, how's your day? happy anyway, titanic is the best for me. this a great classic movie of all time... just a little info, according to Wikipedia.org, Titanic is a 1997 disaster romance film directed, written, produced and edited by James Cameron about the sinking of the RMS Titanic. It features Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet as Jack Dawson and Rose DeWitt Bukater, two members of different social classes who fall in love aboard the ill-fated 1912 maiden voyage of the ship. The main characters and the central love story are fictional, but some supporting characters (such as members of the ship's crew) are based on real historical figures. Gloria Stuart plays the elderly Rose, who narrates the film in a modern day framing device. for more info bout this... here's a link for you.. Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Titanic_(1997_film) thanks for posting and sharing this....rolleyes cheers and God bless... [delgar]
I have another discussion that I have a link for YouTube that shows the alternative ending for the Titanic movie...wish they had used that for the theatrical version..so much better [pyewacket]
I have several fave movies that I never got bored watching them again and again : 1. Home Alone 1 & 2 2. A Walk To Remember 3. The Sound of Music [010878]
A Walk To Remember is a great movie...and love Home Alone 1 [pyewacket]
Hasn't happened to me with a movie lately, but it did happen to me with a couple of pieces of music that I had not heard in a long time, that I recently found on some old records that I had stored in my apartment. It's a great feeling!! [danishcanadian]
I can relate to that too. Listening to old music one hasn't in awhile often brings back memories of what I was doing the first time I heard it [pyewacket]
