I was just wondering what is your favorite line or saying from a movie--it could be any movie--but it's just one of those sayings that sticks in your mind--from classics like "Here's looking at you kid." or "Play it again Sam"--anything that you just can't get out of your mind.
Mine is from Lord Of The Rings: Fellowship of the RIng, which IS an actual line from Tolkien's book, rather something made up by the scriptwriters...
It's..
~~All you have to do is to decide what to do with the time that is given to us.~~
Isn't that ever true??

"remember this day men.. for it will beyours for all the time" "give them nothing.. but take from them everything" "this is where we hold them, this is where we fight, this is where they die!" "AHUUUUUUUU!" - 300 "life is like a box of chocolates.. you'll never know what you'll get" - forrest gump I just love these movies! [Musika]
There are many lines from movies that I love actually. One is from the movie Masterminds "You know, I'm not a violent man but I really do think I'm going to have to kill someone here". Another is from Elvira "If I want your opinion I'll beat it out of ya." Then there is one from Pretty Woman "Big, huge mistake. I have to go shopping now". My last favorite one is from Steele Magnolias, "I'm not crazy M'lynn. I've just been in a very bad mood for 40 years." Heheh they all make me smile. [emeraldisle]
Hehe I loved that line and then how Richard Gere told the woman "She said she liked it better then the Pirates of Penzance" and the woman then tries to match it to make sure she did hear right. I love the movie Pretty Woman. It has a lot of great lines and scenes in it. [emeraldisle]
OK, I have movie lines stuck in my head very often...here are some for ya. Over the Hedge - But I like the cookie! (Poor Hammy!) Finding Nemo - Just keep swimming, just keep swimming, swimming, swimming, what could you do, just swim, swim, swim! SWIMMING! SWIMMING! (OK, it is a song Dorey sings but it really does get stuck in your head!) Princess Bride - As....you....wish!! Or Inconceivable! Polar Express - I didn't do it! (rewind) I didn't do it! Happy Feet - Don't push me cause I'm coming close to the edge, I'm trying not to loose my head. (ok, another song...but really, most of the movie is a song!) Terminator - I'll be back. (Poor governor will never live down that line!) 16 Candles - Ahhhh sexy girl friend!!!! Ice Age - Why am I the poop checker? Forrest Gump - My momma always said life was like a box of chocolates…you never know what you're gonna get. Or Run Forrest! Run! Poltergeist - TV people? *nods head* Do you see them? Uh uh. Do you? *Shakes head slowly no* 6th Sense - I see dead people. OK, that is all I can think of right now. :) And truly...I do not watch a lot of TV. LOL [brokentia]
I had a mentally retarted cat who was affectated when he was a kitten before he was mine. I named him Forrest Gump. When he would run I would say "Run Forrest run". [teapotmommommerced]
Haha I seriously got tired of hearing the guy say "Here's looking at you kid" in Casablanca. Soo many times! Here's a random list of quotes that I think of now and then... they're more just lines that make me smile or laugh than they are that make you think. Happy feet: - What's wrong with you son? - I'm happy! - What's wrong with your feet? - They're happy too! Ever after: - I shall try. and - Looks like rain! and - I shall go down in history as the man who opened a door! You've got mail: - Sting like a bee! and - FIGHT TO THE DEATH!! 300: - Give them nothing. But take from them EVERYTHING! and - Tonight we dine in hell! and - Spartan women give birth to real men. Birdcage: - It's the shoes! and - My guatamalaness. It's my natural heeeat! Jerry Maguire: - You complete me. and - You had me at hello. and - Help me help you! [hsududette14]
toy story "keep out of reach of children! cool" shrek II "for five seconds can you be not yourself for five seconds" the man "fuckcrying out loud" Harry Potter(from ron) "bloody hell" oh theres a lot more but cant remember it right now. [roniroxas]
From Harry Potter 2 I like from Ron "Why spiders? Why couldn't it be "follow the butterflies"?" It was a great line. That whole scene was good but I agree with him why does it always have to be spiders or something equally nasty. [emeraldisle]
Here some of my faves:Manfred: So, still think she's the girl for me? Sid: Sure. She's tons of fun, and you're no fun at all. She completes you.-----ICE AGE 2:The Meltdown Mercedes: He[God] is in everything...even in a kiss. ------- Count Of Monte Cristo(2002) [sweetrala]
hahaha yes that one is cool, manfred and sid talking. [roniroxas]
From Rush Hour / "Do you understand the words coming out of my mouth" , not deep bit it gets stuck in my head. [stormygrl]
yes this is funny.... i always say to my kids this [roniroxas]
One of my favorite line is from a movie that I really like, it's the line from BraveHeart where William Walace said... "They can take away our lives but they can never take our freedom" that's probably one that always sticks out I have another one though it's not really from a movie, but sorry I juts got to add this one here...if you may. It's from the tv series 24, when Jack Bauer said to that teenage boy..."The only reason why you're still conscious is that I don't want to carry you"...wouch that was nice! [othala]
My favourite line is from the movie Titanic. "You could almost pass for a gentleman". Remember? [Edricj]
I can't remember the name of the movie, it had Demi Moore and Woody Harrelson , one said "I love you, other responds "still?" and response back...."always". I love that line! cindy [cinnabunch]
The favorite line from a movie hit me like a ton of bricks. I was always taught that "I owe my mom everything because she had me and she was soooooooooo sick and all that other crap". Well, watching GUESS WHOS COMING TO DINNER with Sindy Poitney (Sp) and Spencer Tracy. There is a discussion in there with Sindy and his father. Sindy tells his father in a heated arguement "I DO NOT OWE YOU A THING OLD MAN I DID NOT ASK TO BE BORN, YOU CHOSE TO HAVE ME". Wow what a line. Did it open my eyes. The other line I like is in Kidergarden Cop with our Governor of California Arnold "IT'S NOT A TUMOR". he tells a kindergardner he has a headache and the kid says maybe its a tumor. [teapotmommommerced]
Guess whos coming to dinner is an excellent movie with a lot of good lines in it. I love one that Kathrine Hepburn's character says but I can't remember it exactly. She's telling her husband how they have always told their daughter that there wasn't a difference between races, that to think so was silly etc. and then she stated something like "But Matt, we never said in all that not to fall in love with one." In other words we need to stick with what we said. I loved how she did it. [emeraldisle]
my favorite line is : ASTA LA VISTA BABY! HAHAHAHA I find it really amazing ! It's such a known movie line !!! Everytime someone says it it really makes me smile and laugh!!! [Emilie88]
"you can't handle the truth" by jack nicholson. I love how he say it and the intense of his voice and face! It will really made a mark to your memory. "I'll geeeet you" by Anthony Hopkins as Hanibal Lecter. This one really scares me. Yeah I love the dialogue from LOTR, this movie give us much wisdom and value not just of friends but the deeper sense of its fellowship. [lossforredwords]
"When you want something, go get it, period" -- Pursuit of Happyness "Love is like the wind. You cannot see it but you can always feel it." -- A Walk to Remember [lafavorito]
Here's a bunch, I'd be curious to see how many can identify the movies so I'll leave that part out. 1. "I came here to chew bubblegum and kick a**, and I'm all out of bubblegum." 2. "I ain't got time to bleed." 3. "And don't call me Shirley" 4. "You've got to remember that these are just simple farmers. These are people of the land. The common clay of the new West. You know...morons." 5. "Rams plagued by fumbles as earthquakes rock Los Angeles, film at 11." 6. "I do hateful things for which people love me and I do lovable things for which they hate me. I am admired for my detestability." 7. "Captain, it is I, Ensign Pulver, and I just threw your stinkin' palm tree overboard. Now what's all this crud about no movie tonight." Have at them folks, try to throw a couple of toughies in there. [milesalpha]
Dead on correct. Leslie Nielson: We have to land this place and we have to land it now! Robert Hayes: Surely you can't be serious! Leslie Nielson: I am serious! And don't call me Shirley! For those who like this sort of humour check out the first movie made by these guys called "Kentucky Fried Movie" (Airplane was originally called Kentucky Fried Airplane). Rather adult, very politically incorrect, and the only movie to actually knock me out of a theatre chair laughing. I left the theatre that night doubled over. My sides were killing me from laughing so hard. The 70s, y'know. [milesalpha]
The expression of Ron in Harry Potter movie "Bloody hell" and of course the famous line of 007 movie."... my name is Bond, James Bond". And this is weird i can't get enough of this line from Brokeback Mountain Jack Twist: God, I wish I knew how to quit you! [mayenskie]
there are so many lines I love I wont be able to think of them all right now, but here's some! Armageddon: "Get off, the nuclear warhead..." "just wanted to feel the power between my legs..." FRIENDS (tv): " I know when the time comes I'll make a good father, but Monica's there...shes a mother, without a baby" omg i love that line, it is so heart breaking! V for Vendetta: "Remember, Remember, the 5th of November..." and I just love the end fight scene, and I love when he says "My turn," after he gets shot a lot of times. I know there was another one for Armageddon I liked, and when i think of more I'll post again! good discussion. [LilyoftheThorns]
From Man on a Train: Mansquier: There are two kinds of men. Those who say "I must buy a new toothbrush. I have lost mine," They're adventurers. And those who have an extra brush. Milan: What are they? Mansquier: Planners, at best. Milan: You have two of everything? Mansquier: (smiles sadly) Three! From the Good Thief: Bob (to a 17-year-old girl in a bar's men's room): Aren't you too young to be in here? Anne (nodding at Bob's herione and needles): Aren't you too old to be doing that? [Drakhan]
About 25 years ago, I saw a movie "Nine to five". With Lily Tomlin, Jane Fonda and Dolly Parton. I don't remember the male actors name. He was trying to put the "pull" on the ladies as he was their boss. All of a sudden (I also don't remember why) Dolly Parton had a shotgun in her hand and was waving it at the guy and told him:"If you don't behave, I am going to change you with one shot from a rooster to a hen". This I remember. [pvoegtli]
Here goes my top three fave movie lines that is for a special friend: 3rd. Im gonna treat you so nice, you're never gonna let me go. - Vivian in 'Pretty Woman' --> I always kid my special some1 using this line. But he never knew that i meant every word of it.. but then again, jokes are always half meant. right? 2nd. I would rather have had one breath of her hair, one kiss from her mouth, one touch of her hand, than eternity without it. One. - Seth in 'City of Angels' --> this I dedicate to some1 who can never be mine.. and I hope he got the message :( Ironic, cause he will never know and its better to keep it the same... 1st. A woman's heart is a deep ocean of secrets. - Old Rose in 'Titanic' --> that itself is self explanatory ü [not_ur_averagegirl]
From the classic cowboy movie almost no one has seen. "Evil Roy Slade". Evil Roy (John Astin or TVs original Gomez Addams to many) must get over a huge canyon to get to safety. His girlfriend doesn't think they'll make it. He tell her not to worry and walks over to his horse. He pulls out his sixgun and holds it to the horse's head... "Horse, you're gonna jump this gorge. If'n you make it, I'm gonna innerduce you to a sexy palomino mare. But if you don't make it, some little boy is gonna use you to help glue his stamps in his stamp book. Ya got that?" Hilarious movie from the 70s but very rare. [milesalpha]
I'm probably misquoting it, but the second movie of Star Wars, Yoda said something like "Try? There is no try, there is only do or not do." That really got me to thinking! [susieq223]
Oh--and I just love all that wisdom and strength Yoda possessed, considering he was only about two feet tall !! [pyewacket]
Well my favorite lines is not from a Movie it's from a TV series or from SMALLVILLE. For me the dialogues or catchy lines from are very philosophical and indeed some are classic meaning they have improvised the lines from other movies or lines from a known writer. In one of the episodes in SMALLVILLE, Lana Lang was speaking to Clark Kent about relationship. What catches my attention is this line: "LETTING GO IS THE ONLY WAY TO MOVE FORWARD". Isn't that a great line? Here's more, Lionel Luthor to Lex Luthor; Lionel said: "EMPIRES ARE NOT BROUGHT DOWN BY OUTSIDE FORCES. THEY ARE DESTROYED FROM WITHIN." Here's another, Clark Kent said: "DESTINY IS ANOTHER WORD FOR NOT HAVING A CHOICE". With these lines it's as if you wish you could speak like those lines uttered on your day-to-day life. But what is important is you apply those lines mentioned above on your day-to-day lives. Great lines ey?. [I_am_thomas21]
I most certainly agree with you there--and those were great lines! [pyewacket]
well a few of my favorite lines which i can remember in a flash are from, Conair:there are two people i trust.one is me and the other is definitely not you. Terminator: I'll be back,Come with me if you want to live. Eraser:They caught the train,Traffic. Rocky:where he screams Adrian, and he tells her things cant change. Rush Hour:do you understand the words that come off my mouth. Armageddon:i say we drill cos i made a promise and i always keep up that promise. well these are a few i can remember as of now.man i can get them into my head as soon as i think of some good lines from movies. [dbeast]
Well I'd say some that I use a lot. From "Whats Up Doc" there is "What the devil are these?" (me and my sister were using that forever and DIDNT realized it came from that older but very funny movie!). I love from Rat Race "I'm not giving up, and neither are you, and neither am I!" "A Guy Thing" "What?" "Crab medicine?" "Oh Crab medicine!" My sister loves from Duce Biglo (sp?) "Steak? Did you say steak? Now you got me all excited!" We quote movies all the time in daily conversations. Due to the fact we both watch movies a lot and love to quote our favorites. Some other people do this too. Its not too rare at least once a day for me to quote some lines from a movie. :)) [monkeywriter]
Have you ever danced with the devil in the pale moonlight? I've got a thing for Batman [cowvoodoo]
I was wondering when someone would get to that line. It really was terrific and perfect for Nicholson's Joker. [milesalpha]
what about this line which i like are you talking to me ? but my favorite but it is not for a movie : life is like sand in the hour class ! [lamiaa]
One of mine is just "I have a feeling we're not in Kansas anymore." A lot of us hippie and flower child types used to use it just to indicate a situation of absurdity. I still use it to this day. [cremechese]
Most of my favorite lines come from Arnold movies, because they seem to always have a double meaning. Commando: I let him go. True Lies: Your fired. Terminator: I'll be back. Kindergarten Cop: Compared to what? I like your name too, reminds of the movie as does the picture....:} [sumofalltears]
I have a lot of photos of my cats past and present when they were kittens too...talk about memory lane..I look at there pics they way most do with their children's pics..but then..my kitties are my kids!! [pyewacket]
Mine would be the one from Forest Gump when Jenny goes back to her childhood home and starts throwiung rocks at the house and he says... "Sometimes in life there just aren't enough rocks". I thought that little sentence was so profound. So much said in those few words. Sometimes it doesn't matter what you do, you can't fix the hurt. [matlgal]
I can't get over Jack Nicholson's answer to Tom Cruise in the film A Few Good Men,(I think thats the name of the movie) when Tom says he wants the truth. Jack's reply, "The truth! you can't handle the truth." [katzbee]
I'm a great fan of Jack Nicholson--uh, not so much Tom Cruise though..LOL [pyewacket]
my favorite line from a movie is this.. "Life is not the amounts of breaths you take, it's the moments that take your breath away." It came from the movie Hitch starring Will Smith. it's also like saying it's not how long we lived on earth but the quality of life and the experiences we've had. [ratburn]
I like that one--it'sa really good one, Ratburn [pyewacket]
Andy Dufresne, crawled through a mile of sh*t and came out clean on the other side. [vwlssknght]
Me, I have many favorite movie lines. They came from the movie THE NOTEBOOK and THE PURSUIT OF HAPPINESS. On the movie the notebook, duke said the quote and from the pursuit of happyness, chris told that line to his son. I like these quotes because they inspires me a lot and they can represent my personality. It is very priceless but so great for me. "I am nothing special; just a common man with common thoughts, and i've led a common life. There are no monuments dedicated to me and my name will soon be forgotten. But in one respect I have succeeded as gloriously as anyone who's ever lived: I've love another with all my heart and soul; and to me, this has always been enough" -- THE NOTEBOOK "Dont ever let somebody tell you, you can't do something. Not even me. You got a dream, you gotta protect it. People can't do something themselves, they wanna tell you, you can't do it. If you want for something, go for it. Period" -- THE PURSUIT OF HAPPYNESS [jhacky016]
I unfortunately didn't see either of those movies but after reading those lines all I could say is WOW--those are great lines! [pyewacket]
ha ha ha... this reminds me of a lot of lines from arnold... "i'll be back!" "a sta la vista... ba-by" "i lied!" "i'm back!" and forrest Gump! "My mama always says, life is like a box of chocolates... you'll never know what you'll gonna get" "My name is Forrest Gump. People call me Forrest Gump!" "I gotta find Bah~~~ba!" "Stupid is as stupid does" "Run, Forrest! RUN!" [ahgong]
One of my favourite lines is from Pirates of the Caribbean. Jack Sparrow sees that Elizabeth has set fire to all the supplies and the trees on the island. He looks directly at her and says "Why's the rum gone?" It breaks me up when I think about it [recycledgoth]
I remember that scene...He walks away in a huff..talking to himself...the whole reason she set fire to the rum was to create a large enough fire so some passing ship might see it...he looks out into the horizon and sure enough there's a ship..and he says something like.."they'll be no dealing with her..??" [pyewacket]
from Labyrinth - Hoggle is spraying fairies. Sarah: It bit me! Hoggle: well what did you expect fairies to do? Sarah: I thought they did nice things. like granting wishes. Hoggle: Shows what you know, don't it. and of course, a classic, from An American Werewolf in London "I didn't mean to call you a meatloaf jack!" [Galena]
from autumn in new york: will: i'm too old for you charlotte: oh, no! i collect antiques! will: ouch! [simplyjemz]
"I'd rather drink with the people of this town than with the finest people in all the world" the Mayor in Roxanne. Cracks me up every time. "History teaches us that men behave wisely; once they've exhausted all other alternatives" Still Crazy [huswyf]
"If you love someone, say it, say it right then, out loud! Otherwise, the moment just passed you by." -- My Best Friend's Wedding. [irened100]
"Well, La Dee Dah" - Diane Keaton's line in Annie Hall is my favorite. It's also one of my all time favorite movies. [irisheyes]
I love Diane Keaton..fantastic actress! [pyewacket]
I love the quotes in the movie "Superbad." They are so funny! I could hear them a million times and still laugh every time. I wish I could share but they are too inappropriate for MyLot. [emma412]
