Have You Ever Had Nightmares After Watching A Movie

I watched a pretty horrific and terrifying movie tonight called, Rogue. It is an Australian movie about a giant crocodile in Kakadu (Northern Territory- Australia) that viciosly attacks and kills these tourists that got strandard on the lake. I won't tell you too much more in case you want to see it. But the scenes on the movie were pretty gory, my stomach could not handle alot of it, my heart was racing most of the movie and i was on the edge of my seat. Slow start, but once the action started it didn't stop. Now I am worried if I go to bed tonight too soon after watching this movie, I am going to have a nightmare, lol. I think this movie has also put me off swimming in any lakes. Think I will stay up a while longer on mylot so I can have nice thoughts before I go to bed, lol. So have you ever had a nightmare after watching a movie?

Yes. I had that experience when I was around 10 or 11. I was watching Night of the Living dead. I was so scared by the zombies and I constantly look outside the window at night just to check if there is something out there the looks like a zombie. I don't want to sleep as I almost always think if them and get nightmares about them going towards me to eat me. sad So scared. [zeroflashx2]
So scary.. I even I have nightmares where friends turn into one... :( But on the brighter side, I dreamt I was a care bear when I was little. lol [zeroflashx2]

When I was very young 7 or 8yrs. and the saturday matinee was 10 cents we went to see the original, "House of WAX" I was soooo scared Icrawled under the seat at the show, and had nightmares for 2 or 3 nights, I'll never forget it! [tdemex]
Reoccuring nightmares are the worst. That would have been scary at the time for you being so young and having horrible nightmares. [kiran1978]

No I don't have nightmares about horror movies. I use to always watch since I was a kid and think they were cool. They have some really creative stuff out there and some of it can actually be funny in a twisted way. The stupid horror movies are the funniest. [elmiko]
THis movies wasn't really a horror movie, it was more of a suspense one. The thing with Rogue it you know that things like this do happen in real life, sadly people have been attacked and killed by crocodiles. That's what frightens me the most. I agree with you silly horror movies can be pretty funny. [kiran1978]

I had a terrible nightmare when I was 6 or 7 years old after watching Jurracsic Park LOL! Another movie that made me uncomfortable is The Exorcism of Emily Rose 3 years ago. [gwenns]
I'm quite a scared cat myself, but in fact, the exorcism of emily rose didn't make feel bad later, cause in the end, she rests in peace. The demon is gone. My problem is when the monster can go after me like Freddy or The Ring girl! [evviesands]

I did for a couple of times!LOL! Most of the time, I can see myself being part of the cast, and someone will run and chase after me to kill me..LOL, that will really end me up catching my breath when I woke up! [checapricorn]
HOnestly last week, My husband downloaded a horror movie and I really stop it and told him to continue during day time...He was laughing hard but I can't stop it, I don't like dreaming again and catching my breath after!LOL! [checapricorn]

I get nightmares after movies all the time. I get scred really easily from movies, even if they're not horror. I saw Jurrasic Park and Jumanji when I was in kindergarden, and even since then I have nightmares once every so often about getting trapped on an island and attacked by dinosaurs or vicious animals. I also get really really freaked out by alien movies. I saw signs and War of the Worlds recently and I have had a few alien attack/end of the world type nightmares. xD [megumiart]
Watching movies about animals is the worst I think as they are so unpredictable and you never know when they are going to attack. So glad we don't have dinosaurs around today then we would be living in a nightmare, lol. [kiran1978]

2 times in my life that has happened to me. The first time is when i wastched a movie with my dad called magic, I was about 10 or so.The movie was about a dummie who did evil things. Then, when I watched the movie the moth man i was scared and couldnt sleep. That movie was based on true events and everything. If it is true stories or happenings i usually will be scared. I made my fiance call off from work because I had a bad night, crazy? i think i was 21 at the time. He still will make fun of me to this day. [metschica25]
I agree with you movies based on true events are even scarier as you know it has happened in real life. Then you have nightmares thinking it has happened to you. I am sure your fiance has had nightmares too, he just hasn't admitted them, lol. I think I have seen moth man before can't remember it though luckily. [kiran1978]

I dont ever watch horror movies. They are to scary. [sun2day]
Lol, horror movies, suspense and thrillers all scare me. I can't watch them alone. Don't ever watch the movie "Saw" that will scare you and freak you out. [kiran1978]

Well scary movies are one of my favorites to watch. But i rarely do it because I ALAWYS have nightmares. Even if it's just a dumb B movie about zombies. (Zombie movies are my personal fav!) I just can't seem to not have nightmares. I hope you dont have any bad dreams tonight. Although that movie did sound pretty freaky! LOL! lol [AnimeMom]
You are the second person here in this discussion that has had nightmares about zombies, freaky. I luckily did not end up having nightmares about that movie, I stayed up late on mylot afterwards so I could have other thoughts in my head, lol. I will be freaked out though going in any merky waters ever again. [kiran1978]

I couldn't sleep for almost a week after watching "The Ring". It's the story of people who watch the video of a girl who's killed and then a week later her ghost kill the people who watched the video. Well, there's a part where the girl, who's really scary, gets out of the TV, and I thought I saw a scene where she gets on an elevator (I'm not really sure what I saw, but I'm not going to check it!) So, for the rest of the night I kept shivering and waking up my hubby cos I saw shadows in her shape! I'm not a big scary movie fan, of course! [evviesands]
shockedThat movie totally freaked me out, it is probably one of the scariest movies I have ever seen. That girl did look really creepy too, the part where she came out of the tv, I was jumping and my heart was racing. If they ever have a sequel to that movie I won't be watching it again. [kiran1978]

Way back when I was in elementary school, there was this movie on every year called The Morning After. School actually sent notes home to parents telling them not to let children watch this movie. Well, I always watched horror movies and all the you cant watch that made me want to watch it even more. Bad idea, the movie is about a nuclear war and what would happen. It was awful. I had nightmares for 3 months, my dad was so peeved. I still can not watch this movie, I tried a few years back and had the same nightmare all over again. [sweetcake1369]

Yes, I'm so worried to watch the horrible movie ,now I could not do it anymore, because which will make bad effect on my sleeping! [lanyoublue2008]

Sometimes our minds play tricks on us and especially if you have just watched something horrific that etches itself into your subconcious. Yes I have had a few after watching movies, IT has always given me nightmares. [clix2bux]

My Dear Friend-I don't watch gory ovies or thrillers but have seen 'The Cube@ one and two I recommend that one it is one I think you may like-but as the saying goes and I beleive is true-watch you watch and see goes into your unconcious and affects you in different ways-try to watch true movies ones that touch you in an endearing way-ones you would or could enjoy-try to keep peace in your mind not disharmony and negativity-if ever I see films like that eg my son has them on then I say what great make-up they have had to have donefor the show and how often they have have had to probably have so many takes just to get the scenes right-after being with a show thats all it is just make up-blood pellets etc so try to look at it in a more logical sense and see the positive side or just come on MyLot lol you get more fun on here lol-hugs your friend littleowl [littleowl]

I have definately had nightmares after watching movies. My fiancee loves thrillers and horror films so I try to watch them as much as I can, but it's hard. I find myself waking up all hours of the night terrified that whatever happened in the film will happen to me. Even if it's outrageous like killer swamp things. It helps having my fiancee there next to me at night, but usually he just laughs at me. He thinks it's funny that I can get that scared over a movie. But he's supportive too. So it has its ups and downs. [mrspace]

Oh god yes i did. When i was a kid if i watched a scary movie during the day or even at night i would not be able to sleep or i'd have nightmares. Luckily i don't as an adult except for once when i watched exorcist at 3am. That really freaked me out i don't know what in the world i was thinking watching that so late. [Timothy31]

YES, YES, and did I say YESSS?!? I cannot watch a horror film of any kind or sort before I go to bed. I end up laying in bed listening to my heart pounding and over analyzing every single sound I hear. Then when I do fall asleep I have the most terrifying nightmares ever! I can't watch horror films! [Samanthavv]

Sure I have. Sometimes, the movie leaves such a strong impression that it will continue to linger after you switched off the TV and go to sleep. So normally, I try to switch to a "normal" channel to get rid of the movie's image before sleeping. It helps at least a little. happy [lordwarwizard]

nope. i think nightmares after a movie is for the weak minded people [supakamikaze]

I used to have nightmares when I was a kid, especially after watching the Nightmare on Elm Street movies, which was specifically about nightmares! However, I don't get them anymore - not that I know of anyway. I will, on occasion, have a hard time getting to sleep because I am so scared. I'll hear things around the house or can't get certain sounds or images out of my head. Still doesn't deter me from watching horror movies though! They're one of my favorite genres. :) [doubloonie]

I have had a nightmare the night I watched 'Evil Dead'. Evil Dead is a horrible movie, terrifying, gory. The nightmare I had was somethin g similar to waht I had seen in the movie. A ghost came and walked towards me. The ghost kept on walking. Fire issued from its mouth. And its feet were cloven. [kangallo]

i used to have nightmares after seeing horror movies when i was a child. i even cried at the middle night, scared about what i saw in the television. i think it is just normal because the mind retains the unpleasant features we see. so next time you watch horror movies, do it in daytime so you still have a lot of time not to think about it before going to bed. [julyteen]

Do you know I never used to watch anything but horror movies, I think that I watched every single one out at the time. This was when it was just me and my eldest boy so it is going back some years now. But I would hire a couple out every weekend and then watch them when my little one (as he was then) was in bed. I never had nightmares off the really good ones, but if I watched a really silly horror film then I could guarantee that I had nightmares about it. Yet I had sat and laughed at it! Strange. [gemini_rose]

thats the reason i always use to take care of the movie selection, i always try to stay away that leads to something extreme negative, becuase such movies not only create nightmares at night but nightmares in the morning will not be a surprise.:)movies always left a impression in my mind and the best way to get rid of it is to nullify its effects by good thoughts, talk and getting involved in work. [sanket111]

OOOOOOOOOOOH YEAH! Those scary movies haunt me for MONTHS! I'm a scaredy cat! But it sucks, because I hate scary movies but now, I'm growing interested in seeing them. Maybe it's because I'm older? :] [Craz3hC]

yes. when I was in college, my friends and I decided to watch "The exorcism of Emily Rose".. it was a freaky movie, that it kills me for a week!.. it gets into my nerves and I even dreamed it for a week or 2. [zer0charly]

I had the same experience,i saw a film that it'about 731's story, they do the examniation by human. It's so horrific, the 731 army is so viciosly, then i have seen that i can't sleep in my bed, when i was alone,i feel scare,i was afraid that 731 army took me out to do examniation, because in that time i was only a children,i alway follow by my parent,in the way i can feel safe.Form that time i see the horror movie less. [zhaosonghan]

yes,but that is long time ago, when I was a kid it was so scary that I can not go to sleep i was waitting and waitting, when i got tired, then went to sleep but sometime nightmares made me cant sleep good luck! [Petercheung]

Horror characters in your nightmares are really scary... it's a scary thought! Good thing I haven't experienced it... I don't want one either. [littlepinoy]
