Have You Ever Watched A Movie And Than The End Just Ruined It

There is always a movie that you watched and you wish the ending would have been different. Like someone dies or the girl ends up with the guy that she shouldn't have. But have you ever watched any movies that you loved all the way til the last 5-10 minutes or so and than the movie is just ruined? You can't watch it again even though the rest was great. Like the Matrix. I don't even like watched the first two because the end was so disappointing. Another one is Next with Nicholas Cage. I liked it. I really was enjoying it until the end. What movie do you think was completely ruined by the ending?

One that jumps to mind right away is White Noise with Michael Keaton. It's about a man who hears strange voices coming from the radio when it wasn't on. He does some investigating and finds out about a woman who was violently murdered and is reaching out to him for help. It was a great ghost story right up until the end when things got bizarre. I was very disappointed. [crimsonladybug]
yes and its so anoying when dat happens [99halo3str]

I hate that so much when you get into a movie and then ending makes it horrible. I can agree with the Matrix movies because I thought the ending was just dumb. Another movie I just watched earlier today was Silent Hill. I don't want to give up what happened at the end of that movie but lets just say it was just plain terrible at the end in my opinion. [BinaryKat]
I wasn't sure whether I'd like that or not so I haven't watched it yet. Not sure if I should now. [Ruthep]

yes i have watched movies like that [tyeast1989]
I think we all have [Ruthep]

Well it hasn't prevented me from watching the movie over and over again, as the very ending of it "kinda" ends happily, but just before the ending ruins the story as a major character does get killed ....the movie is Bridge To Terabithia..and it does follow the book of which it was based. Another movie while good is kind of grim and one of the few movies that religiously follows the book...The Hours...great cast in it, Meryl Streep, Julianne Moore, Ed Harris and Nichole Kidman and part of it is based on the life of Virginia Woolfe who committed suicide...and yup, you get to see that part at the end [pyewacket]
sometimes I cry at some unbelievable things so who knows? [Ruthep]

One movie that pops to mind since you mentioned Nicholas Cage, is City of Angels. After the whole movie sets up this relationship, and makes you start to think that it is possible... Then for him to go through what he has to do to be with her... And then they are together and then.... angry It actually made me angry and I will refuse to watch it ever again. [uicbear]
Oh yeah, I forgot about that movie..that was one of the most disapointing endings ever [csrobins]

Nope sorry cant think of any at this moment Ruth..If id o i shall come back to ya. My excuse is its my bedtime...woot woot... oooo oooo nobody knows it. lol [LoudnProud]
that isn't nice. I suppose you're never going to less us non Scottish people know.cry [Ruthep]

I have seen several like that, the new Indiana Jones movie comes to mind. I am sure there have been others, just can't think of any right now. [Aurone]
I don't remember Stardust. [Ruthep]

definetly. i hate it when that happens its like a ripped up $ and got punched in the face. [MikoChan87]

One movie I remembered I didn't like the ending is the movie entitled 'The Happening'. I guess the writers just ran out of ideas that's why they dismissed the cause as a natural phenomena. [aprilten]
I never did see it. A lot of times when it is something that really can't happen you just have to forget about that. [Ruthep]

oh my gosh, yes. the most recent I have watched that the ending ruined it all for me was Eagle Eye. The movie was fantastic all throughout, great plot, great acting but the ending was just blah. it was a bit corny and I was definitely expecting more. it ruined the whole for me, I swear. [maanrodriguez]
Is that that movie with the two people being told to do this and that? Stars Shia Lebouf? [Ruthep]

yep i have had there a few times! i of course cant think of a dang one right now to give as an example but i think the ending really makes and decides the movie.. but thats just me [moonlitmagikchild]
I know. Some movies at the end some one dies and I wish they didn't but it is realistic and it is still a good movie. But others after that I just wish I never watched it. [Ruthep]

hmmm.i can think of only one movie right now.i think what spoiled the movie for me is not the movie itself but my own mind set.the movie name is CHANCES ARE.tagged as comedy and romance and lets say it had me gripped for almost 70 minutes when everything fell apart.i was more like living the hero character that i got completely disgusted by what he did.till now i havent seen the climax so that i can imagine as if it has a nice climax.lol [stardustcdsd]
I saw that movie but I don't really remember much. [Ruthep]

Hi, I have watched drama with really tragic ending. The leading female actor died of cancer at the end of the drama while the leading male actor committed suicide by letting a lorry hit him. Its a popular Korean drama. However, most of the drama I watch these days are with happy ending as I try to avoid those with sad endings. I will read up some hints about the endings of drama at forums before watching them but I will try to avoid reading spoilers of drama. [ionsquare]
I like happy endings too. Some, I know they try to do what is realistic and so something bad happens. But its not real so I like a good ending. [Ruthep]

Yes, yes, and double yes, lol Iv seen several films that I just hated the endings to, theres so many that its hard to name just one, but ill try lets see, the matrix 3 the ending to that one was lame, and um, million dollar baby's ending wasn't to good ether, and I didnt like the ending to the devils rejects because there was no survivors thats totally lime, it seems that a lot of film makers these days dont take the time to wright a good ending to there scripts they just end short of excellent, and instead they just end awful, and almost ruin the entire movie.rolleyeshappy [apples99]
And the ending is what is really so important. [Ruthep]

Omen 666 it was a good movie at first but at the end the main character died by a police man I was very angry!!Because the story says that satan won not God. [joshuachu13]
I hate when they kill off a good character. [Ruthep]

In my opinion almost most of the korean movies are ruined it the end. I think it is a must in a korean for a sad ending such as actress dead in the end. I have watched many of those movies such as Millionairs first love, My sassy girl, A walk to remember even though its an english movie and so on and on. However it the beginning the movies are perfect and in the end........its all ruined by sad ending. [bbk_shrestha]
some people really like sad endings. I like happy ones . [Ruthep]

Yes, Spider-Man 3. That was the worse piece of junk ever. That was a slap in the face to Stan Lee, Steve Ditko, and the whole comic book genre. [rogue13xmen13]
It was a true disappointment, then again, the whole film was a disappointment. [rogue13xmen13]

I think the ending in quite a few movies were abrupt. They did not conclude anything to the movie. I do not exactly remember the names of the same but yes people do make such kind of movies. [dropofrain]
I think some are written the way they are because in life there usually isn't one happy ending where no more problems exist. But movies aren't life. [Ruthep]

Oh heavens, yes. The main one that comes to my mind is the adaptation of Stephen King's "The Mist". I thought it was a great adaptation right until about the last five minutes. The ending was completely different than the novella, and I absolutely hated it! For anyone who has read the story, and then seen the movie - you know what I'm talking about. I don't want to give it away in case anyone is planning to see it. [kingfan]
I didn't see it. The plot reminded me somewhat of the Fog. And that movie ending was bad. On the remake, not as bad on the original. [Ruthep]

There are a whole lot of movies I feel were ruined by the end. The one that comes to mind right now is Stephen King's The Mist. I am not a fan of his movies anyway, but my husband talked me into. I sat there for two hours and waited for something good to happen to the main character and it NEVER happend. I was so mad. Also, the movie Cloverfield and Message in a Bottle. [aprilj1231]
I remember Message in a Bottle. I didn't like the ending either. [Ruthep]

its funny i just watched one of those last night, quarintine. (sp?) I loved the movie, even thow it was all wobbly camera action, but they made great use of it. The story line was awesome, it was entertaining, actually somewhat scary which is rare these days, but the last 2 minutes seemed like the writer and the director ran out of ideas and just decided to take the easy way out and end it fast while they were ahead. I was very dissapointed, its kinda like spending 8 hours baking a wonderful cake or something and then just slapping the frosting on sloppily, ultimately ruining the cakes overall appearance no matter how much time and effort was put into it [irishfury187]
That is a good way of putting it. Very accurate. It makes you wonder who's idea it is to do it that way, the writers or the studio. [Ruthep]

There are so many movies that I know for a fact were ruined by the ending. Right now, I can think of Cabin Fever, American Psycho, Paid In Full, Tournament of Dreams, and most of the 'horror' movies that came out in the past few years. Of all the ones I added, I have to say Cabin Fever was the worst. I am not going to ruin it for the people who never saw it but it was one of those endings that just had me sitting there like 'are you serious'? [ScarletAlston]
There are just too many movies made with bad endings. [Ruthep]

The first two Matrix movies are definitely ruined by the final one. It's the most recent example I can think of. For me a film or series is ruined not by a character dying or anything (Mean Streets is amazing no matter what happens at the end), but by disingenuous writing. Often an ending is slapped on by a studio to make audiences like it more, though I think this usually backfires with the real fans, i.e. all three X-Men movies. [cburns401]
I have that movie. I was given it and never have watched it. [Ruthep]

I know there are a few when i wanted the guy and the girl to get together in the end but they didnt. I am a happily ever after kinda person so if they dont end up together it just kills the whole movie for me. Even rose went back to jack in the end. (Titanic) [mssnow]
Happy endings are good. [Ruthep]

Well, I didnt hate this movie but I just thought the ending needing to be alittle bit more than what it was. The movie Im talking about is August Rush. Its about a boy who was put up for adoption and he makes it his mission to find his parents and reunite them through his music. Without giving away to much of the moive for people who haven't seen it,I wanted them to embrace each other and show them in there new life together. It just ended with them looking up at him and smiling. Someone metioned the Bridge to Terabithia in an earlier post and that was a suprise to me too. I didn't expect a death. [renemouche]
Those are bad too. I know what you mean. Movies that just seem like there should be more to it. I guess so you can decide for yourself what really happens.blink [Ruthep]

Hello yes Ruthep, I saw the movie 7 pounds the ending was very sad. [patriciaqualls]
Another member had told me before that it was sad but good. [Ruthep]

Most times I just can't be bothered with these movies because not only are there plots disappointing, but there ending are just as disappointing. There are so many ways in which I enjoy a move and sometimes you are experiencing a high only to be left there. As if you are still clinging to the penultimate part of the film. I think movie editors shold take the time out to make mindblowing endings. [catilda]
They should. Maybe they think it was great. I really don't understand sometimes. [Ruthep]

Dear Ruthep, Some movies which the endings were ruined were: Seven Pounds (Most people will disagree) Iron Man (The Director may not make a new IM2 so thats why, the ending was decent though) KING KONG! (Well the Jack Black ending killed it) Another note 300 and Titanic had great endings. Kind Regards. Happy MyLoting. [wdashdasha]
patriciaqualls said that about 7 Pounds. I heard it was sad that was all. I had not heard that there may not be an Iron Man 2. I didn't watch King Kong either. [Ruthep]

yeah me too i have the ending of the matrix. which was good but the end was terrible. besides i don't remember those movies i had watched with bad endings. but i am sure that i have some movies i had seen like that before. it makes me wonder sometimes why ruin a movie with such a bad ending. they should have made some more effort to make a nice ending for the reason that we wanted to enjoy the movie more. but sometimes i just think that it is just necessary to have those kind of endings. and maybe they know best . [hotsummer]
yeah sometimes i wish i have a say on the ending of the movie. and i could dictate how the story would end. but at least we have enjoyed most part of teh movie except last part than having nothing to watch at all. there were only few movies lately that i have really enjoyed. [hotsummer]

Yes i have. Actually as i recall back many of times it has. I hate it when they like end the movie off and the story doesnt have a ending. Or when the movie doesnt make any sense at all at the ending. I seen Prom night and that movie was just horrible. Happy Mylotting :) - Lexi [lexstersxo93]
I think sometimes they do that to leave it open for a sequel. [Ruthep]

It's funny how you mentioned Nicholas Cage because I just saw another one of his movies this week called: City Of Angels! It was a wonderful movie but the ending SUCKED! I was so pissed off by the way they ended it! [xbrendax]
I know. I wanted to see that so bad and than I did. I was so disappointed too. [Ruthep]

Hmm I think I would have liked Vicky cristina in barcelona to end differently or to change the story in a way that would be acceptable and understandable. [genterx]
some movies I don't think we are meant to understand Just accept it as it is [Ruthep]

The Fifth Element... I mean, it was supposed to be a Luc Besson movie and then the fifth element was supposed to be "love"... It should have been aired on the Disney Channel then... [wahmivy]
I kinda got that. [Ruthep]

Quite often, Ruthep! In fact, it is a private joke among my friends and I that the end usually ruins the movie. If it doesn't ruin, it is an exception. Well that is more for TV serials. Movies are generally okay... Most endings don't ruin but the best I would give them is average, no big deal. [lordwarwizard]

oh sure. Happens alot. It's another good reason for waiting for dvd. That way you don't pay theatre prices to be disappointed. Just my opinion, but that happened with Blair Witch for me. [ersmommy1]
We don't see many movies in theaters unless it is something we all want to really, really see. I still hate renting or watching a movie on TV and at the end feel like I wasted my time and money. [Ruthep]

Yes I have. there have been a few but the one that comes to mind is Johnny Eager. the beginning and the middle is real film noir . The ending is like a Capra film, all goodness and light. I just watch the brig inning and the middle. I refuse to see the end. another film where the ending really pi44es me off is High Noon. I refuse to see that film ever again. ps, I just remembered another, The Philadelphia Story, the writers had a great ending right in front of them and they went for the safer ending. I will Never see that film ever again. [sarahruthbeth22]
At least you saw No Country.I tried two times to watch it and I couldn't get into it. [sarahruthbeth22]
