At the moment I keep my movies that I have bought in cases inside a box. Each one is in its DVD case. I am thinking of putting just the disks in a book that way it would be easy to get a movie out and play it. I do go to the cinema if there is a great movie on. I got a leaflet and saw two movies that I might like to see. Last time I forgot but borrowed the DVD of the movie from my local library.
How do you keep movies that you have purchased?
Do you ever go to the cinema?

I have lots of dvds my friend which I keep in my wardrobe so they don't get dusty and they are all in their cases. I don't go to the cinema hardly ever because it's so expensive, and the films I like to go and see like horror films no one wants to go with me, I would love to see Saw 5 but I'd have to go on my own and it's no fun so I shall wait until it comes out on Sky and watch it from the comfort of my own home. I have a couple of issues with my movies. First of all, I have around 75 VHS movies - they take up so much room! Right now they're in the bottom cabinet of my entertainment center. But, at least they're in alphabetical order! Then I've got the DVD movies bought from various retailers - my daughter is so bad about putting the disk back in the proper case. I used to keep her movies (teen type movies, horror movies, etc.) separately from mine - but hey, the money all comes from the same place so i re-consolidated them. I have yet to work out a good workable system for them. Right now those are stacked in the side cabinets of the entertainment center. The most organized of my collection though are the ones I've downloaded! I love it - the PC alphabetizes them for me! And I don't have to worry about where to keep them - although they take up a ton of room on my main hard drive. So I bought another drive! Duh! I now have an external drive that I keep about 100 movies on AND I have room for my clip art and a lot of my photos as well! Best thing since sliced bread! [genihanna]
Hey maximax~I do have quite a volume of DVDs as my collection, say several hundred something~If for the ones have original boxes,I will keep them in boxes;if for some "naked" ones,I'd like to keep them in the DVDs boxes with the index for my easy search~ rasp.As well,I'd like to go to cinema for some big movies, most of time I got the couponds or leaflets~`rasp [tonytt2009]
We keep the DVD in their cases at all times. We tried taking them out and putting them in a book but they seemed not to get back as they should and be left around only to get scratched etc. If they are worth buying then they are worth caring for and the safest place is the cases. As far as the movies go, we go occasionally. When th movie we want to see comes to the cheap show. That is a theatre that gets the movies after everyone else has already shown them. They only charge $2 for a movie tough were everyone else charges about $8. So its the cheap show. We did go the other day and saw a movie called 'Swing Vote' with Kevin Costner. Good movie. All of my dvd movies are in the origianal covers and then they are in a movie cabinet. I like having the covers that way you can see what the moive is right away and sometimes I like to reread the covers or see how long a movie is so I wan tto keep the covers. [luvstochat]
I keep some of them on shelves then I ran out of shelves so now they are all in one big case. [AbbeyB]
I have so many DVD's lying around the house i'm almost at my wits end finding somewhere to store them. At the moment I have them stacked up in piles round my room. I know the most logical thing for me to do is go and buy a rack for them...it's just getting the rack from the shop to my car as the one i've got my eye on is fairly large. In terms of going to the cimena I go almost twice a month at least. The last film I saw was last week "How to lose friends and alienate people" with Simon Pegg from the film Hot Fuzz and Shaun of the dead. It was absolutely brillaint. The whole cinema was rolling around in fits of giggles.happy [Metalchick]
i alway keep them on my computer [christina1989]
I used to have every VHS, every DVD of every movie I liked, and they hardly ever got opened or watched so I sold most of them except for maybe 20 of the best of each and still don't watch them. We don't typically go to the movie theaters as with 4 people it would cost almost a hundred bucks with food and drinks. I DVR a lot of movies too. All my faves are on eventually. [jenboops]
Hi there maximax8,Well I got lots of movies but the problem is,I really don't take care of them and I felt bad for it..cry Well for now I just kept them to my cabinet and it is safe there..:-0 GOd bless and have a nice day..:-0 [insulin]
well a great discussion to have and i just keep my movies on my external mini hard disk and it can store up to 160GB and it is enough for me and i just transfer them form my PC to my mini HD and it's very fast in transferring. and whenever i want the movies i just connect my mini HD to my PC and i will just copy the requires movie and that's it . it's finished bye [sharandada_v]
I have seen this both ways. I like to keep track of the movie boxes as it looks nice to have them categorized and set up on a book shelf. If you buy movies that are collectible; that's the way to go. But, you can always geta book and put them in that for now and cycle them through as you watch them. Example: Watch a set of movies. Replace those with a new set of movies once you are done. Put the prior set back into their proper jackets. Hope that helps.happy [MH4444]
i use to have many dvd's too bad my friends would confuse borrowing for having the dvd permanently. so in short i only get to watch my movie for a while then it will be gone ......forever [hotshoes5000]
I keep mine in their cases on shelves, It works out ok for the house and everything that way. Sometimes I go to movies. It happens in spurts. [nangel78]
I usually keep my movies on dvd`s in cases. I think it`s better to see them at home without all the fuss and noise of other ppl in a big hall. [jorjh_and1]
We have a large shelves with glass doors on it that we use, and it holds a lot of dvds. We still our collecting them. Also, for our Old VHS Tapes we have an dress that had eight draws, and it's full. We have not been to the movies (It was an Out Doors theater in the late 7o's) that's a long long time ago. happy [snowqueen2008]
I have tons and tons of DVDs. I guess I became kind of obsessed with buying them a few years back and I have gotten that out of my system for the most part. :) I keep them in a large walk in closet off of my family room. It has four walls with shelves floor to ceiling. I actually took the time to alphabetize them too. I currently have almost 900. I keep the boxes all in that closet, but the actual discs I keep in those zippered CD cases. Each holds a hundred and I group them in their by genre. Makes them much easier to find that way and keeps me from going through all the cases. [ThirdMillion]
hey, well, most of the movies saved on the laptop... i seldom have them placed in a special room... beside, i would love very much going to the cinema though! Smiley, [smiley83]
When i came home from abroad... i brought with me a lot of original dvd's... but now they are kept inside the closet... since i live in a small apartment... and there is no place for me to really keep them nicely... but when i have a bigger place... i plan to place them on a nice dvd shelf... that i will get with the tv rack... [aseretdd]
i have no movies now. when i want to c a movie, i down load from the net. finished, delete. [TerryYuan]

I love going to the movies, but it's so expensive these days. Last time I went it was $20 for two tickets (me and a friend) and $20 for popcorn and soda. Really outrageous. I do have a bunch of coupons that'll knock $4 off per ticket now, so It'll be $8 cheaper when we go, but it's still a lot of money, you know? I do own a lot of movies. Not nearly as many as I used to, but it's still quite a bit. To save space, I ditched the cases and I have all of them in those big CD books. It's really nice for a couple of reasons. One, it's easier to find the movie I'm looking for. It's also nice if I plan on taking some movies over to a friends, I can just grab the whole book and VIOLA! a nice big selection to choose from. I also printed out labels for each sleeve in the book. So when I'm flipping through the book and see an empty space, I know immediately which movie is missing -- makes it easier to figure out of I've loaned it to someone or if I watched it recently and it's probably in the player still. [wiccania]
I keep them in their original case. I do take out the outer case and then they will fit into my DVD crates. I do not go to the movies that often, but we also get the movie channel and we sometimes rent them from Blockbusters. I do not like putting them in a booklet because I heard that the covers they put them in scratch the surface a bit. [suspenseful]
I have lots of DVDs of my favourite TV series (Dr Who) and every movie my kids or I really like. As I have bought them all (I don't burn them on moral grounds), I keep them in their original cases. My DVDs are displayed in wire stands where their titles are visible and grouped together in categories. I am a bit anal when it comes to keeping them in order. [Piscesmoon]
Oops, forgot the last part of your question. I do go to the cinema to see things that need to be seen on a giant screen to be appreciated or sometimes just because I can't wait for them to be out on DVD. Any that I really enjoy, I still end up buying to watch on my TV which is a large HD LCD TV. [Piscesmoon]
Hey there! I keep them in their DVD case and put it in a shelve or cabinet so that it is well protected from dust and my animals. We have a dog in our house and he loves messing the DVDs under our TV rack so that's why put it in a shelve or cabinet. I do go to the cinema, specially if the movie is interesting and I wanna watch it in a big screen. Happy posting!! [AltheGreat2430]
i keep them just on the boxes and store them on my TV cabinet... i'm just too busy and can't be bothered to organise them into a book... i hardly go to a cinema nowadays unless if i get free ticket from my workplace or credit card when i exchange my points... take care and have a nice day... [lingli_78]
i have lots of DVDs at home... i bought a case where i can place them intact inside my wardrobe.. =) i just keep my favorite movies and give away those who aren't really my type.. [gracie04]
most often i go to the cinema if there's a good movie out well we keep the purchased movie in a case inside a box and also inside the CD holder but my brother is so untidy just messes up the whole thing, pulling out all the DVD s down to the floor [ashvini_urs]
I bought a huge bookcase just to keep all the movies we bought on DVD because we have that many! It completely fills the shelf and I like to keep all of them in the case. We go to the cinema too quite a lot, probably at least 4-5 times a month! [frankiecesca]
actually I don't really go to cinema.. hehe, ahm? about purchased movies? I usually stored them in a cabinet, or copy it on my computer and stored it inside my disk.. [deathvans]
Now, there are two tickets in my box. I guess I will go to the cinema with my friend on this staurday. About the movies that I bought, after finishing them, they are totally left alone. It is a better choice to watch a movie on youtube or something. [hiddenwing]
Yes Max,the cases ought to carry government health warnings lol as each time I have opened a case the disc inside certainly doesnt match the cover!but I admit its a difficult one to sort out.I do not have any formula ,and I will often just take out a cd or a DVD and then pop the case back, and when it comes to putting the disc away again I will just pop it into the first available case lol.Apparently my son has inherited this trait ,and he has spent a good few hours sorting out his collection, and im sure he will neeed a lot more time lol as his collection is huge to say the least! If the CD is one from the local library then that is fine,as you have to treat them with care,or otherwise you will be charged for them,so they are treated with the utmost of care! [ruby222]
iusually leave themin their case as wellthen it becomes easier for me to check them whenever i need to wtch any of them ,i hacve quite a collection already and they are arranged according to their genre,i.e action, romance, martila arts, comedy etc [BYOLA2871]
I go at least once a week to the Cinema to see new movie. So that's why the 50 or 60 movies that I have they are piled on the floor collecting dust. I think it's sensless to collect movies, how many time you can watch to same one? If you know any one interested in my collection , please let me know. Will make some arragements as a donation to good cause . [coolguy01]
I keep in my CD Rack inside my Drawer. i am not updated with new ones because the old ones are still better for me. [Jean25]
I go to cinema to watch movie once in a while .Because our China have something different with you United kingdom ,we also buy DVD ,but it's quantity is small .The most frequent way of our watching movie is downloading.Because of this ,pirate libels are common in our country ,government put great power to prevent this phenomenon .As for me ,i usually keep my movies in my computer and mp4.When i am in my bedroom ,i watch movies with my computer .When i am out ,i will store some movies to my mp4,so that i can see them at any time and at any where . [aisinvon2005]
We go to the cinema. We buy DVDs. It is good to back up your DVDs. We, in my family, do go to the Cinema. It is a nice way to get out of the house with my family. Spending money on going to a movie seems better to me than spending money going out to eat. (Which gets fattening.) However, we are selective about the movies we go out to see. Otherwise, we wait for them to come out on DVD and rent them. We purchase good movies on DVD. This is a great idea. We have a large collection of movies to watch. We have a CD/DVD case filled with movies so it is easy to find one that our daughter wants. We also have drawers full of DVDs in their original cases if needed. It is nice to let people who come over to the house look through our collections. The DVD cases have artwork on them which sometimes spawns interest. A simple list of DVD titles might seem bland and boring by contrast. I also like the idea of backing DVDs up to secondary disks or a computer. It would seem to be a wise idea to keep an original DVD and create a backup DVD which you actually put in the DVD player. You might wind up scratching the 'copy' but the original would still be in place and you could make a new backup for viewing if, say, your daughter fingered them all up with peanut butter as she looked through the collection without asking you for permission first. Price of data storage has also dropped, so a nice one tertrabyte backup drive might be able to keep quite a number of video titles on file.. as easy to access as flipping through a listing on your computer. This also seems like a great idea, so long as you keep the original DVDs safely stored away in case your hard drive fails or if you manage to buy a backup drive to guard against hard drive failure. Unfortunately, both these uses are made difficult by the recording industry. While I have my resentments over how the RIAA does things and I do not like copy protection which limits my ability to use the movie I purchased, I have little to say in the matter. I am must a little guy and I can't really be expected to defeat DVD cryptography just to have a back up copy on hand. I think there are programs out there which might be able to help with this, but in generally I do not think that's legal and I have some reservations there. [DaddyOfTheRose]
i go to the cinema very often when my boyfriend is in the country, but if he is not here, i would opt to watch the movies in my computer, DVD or in my PSP.. whichever is most convenient.. well, lately, i have been watching a lot throught my psp and i just put my headset on to make the audio audible. i like it in my PSP because i can watch the movie even when i'm travelling. we have the DVD's in their cases and we have a big long rack for it.happy. but we have other movies in the CD book too, a lot of movies are stored there and it's very convenient and clean too.happy [austere]
We have a dvd rack that holds about 200+ but we have to pack up the holiday movies to have room for all of them and we keep those in a cabinet in my bedroom. We need to get something else b/c there are more movies that we will buy. Alot of the movies we own are disney movies for my girls. They get watched often so I want them to be able to go and pick which movie they want. We will see. We will actually probably wait until we move to our new house. [mflower2053]
We keep ours in books...I have several for sorting purposes. One for comedy, one for thriller, etc. Makes it so much easieer, and takes a lot less space. We go to the movies occasionally, usually when they go to a 2-nd release theater. It's only $1.00 there, while the 1st release theater is $12.00! Some movies are just better on the big screen. [catdla1]
I never store the movies I see.I just give it to friends.I like to see fresh ones always. [balasri]
i don't buy movies. once i have seen them i don't care anything about watching them again. i very seldom ever go to the cinema. see things advertised that i think i might like but just don't care enough to go. [ANTIQUELADY]
In this time, never been in cenimas for how many yeras i just buy DVDs for my own & keep there all together so i can find them easyly. like a book sheild but i make them for my dvd's. [Ohara_1983]
we have case like a bag of dvd´s are lest say like an album that we can put 200 dvd´s of it and we have 4 cases full of dvd. [bombshell]
We only have a few movies that we've bought over the last two years and the disks remain in the covers on a books shelf underneath our TV. We borrow childrens dvds from the library too. We use to go to the cinema a lot but have decided to cut down on costs there too. [maddysmommy]
All of my DVDs are in their cases and we keep them in a cabinet located on our entertainment center. Keeping them in one of those books might be a good idea and you could even get tabs to organize them for even faster locating. [Flight84]
I am not going to a Cinema a very long time ago when I bought my own Home Theatre in the house to enjoy it more without any disturbance from other people always keep the movie that I bought but most of them is I made it by myself in one of my small business and keep it all in a place in which it is untouchable with my Daughter which is a year and 4 months old for now in my small office of the house... [iyah10]
Hi Maximax8! I normally see movies from TV only . My sone used to bring DVD and he used to collect them and they see in the leisure time whenever they are. I am in the office anfter going home have to cook for them and then go to sleep. Rarely I see movies. That too I see only on Sundays and any other off days. Happy postiing and have a good day. [nini89]
I prefer to keep my DVDs in their boxes, that way, I think, they are more safe. I also go to cinema halls to watch movies occasionally. [suruchi86]
