If the movie theaters had a break time during each movie so that you could use the restroom or refill on snacks and not miss parts of the movie, would you approve of this? Would you reject this idea? I think it would be a great idea, especially during the really long movies so that we can relieve ourselves or refill on sodas or snacks.

responses and comments:
I would definitely approve. Who wants to miss a part of a movie they paid probably close to $10 to see? Sometimes people just want to get up and stretch their legs, too. [hitzphillygirl]
Yeah, I would love to have a good break. Pee time =)! But not too long and there should be a specific exact time again so that you're not gonna miss the next part. [gotcho0O]
In europe they do that and you get used to it and enjoy it. [serge4hair]
I did not know that Europe did something like this but I think it would be good for longer movies in particular. That is good that the people there enjoy it. [kgwat70]
Hey, that is a fantastic idea. I love it. But, the lines will be really long I fear, so it better be a good half hour or so. Blessings M&M [margieanneart]
That is true that the lines would be very long for the restrooms and the snack stand. They would have to make bigger restrooms and have more people staffed to serve customers. It could take a while for people to return to their seats. [kgwat70]
I personally would not be for this, but I can see where some people might like this. I don't want to movie to stop. Right now I can last the three hours with out going to the bathroom, and I don't really eat a lot of snacks when I am at the movies. So for me I would not be happy with a break. [medooley]
I definitely see and agree with your point on not wanting to pause the movie. Sometimes the movie is so good that you do not want any interruptions and want it to keep running. Sometimes the movie is so good that three hours flies by really quickly for me and do not need a break. I rarely eat anything at the theater as well due to the high costs and unhealthy foods. [kgwat70]
I never heard of any movie theater that do that. But that is a very nice idea. We can have break to buy food, stretch a little and go to restrooms. But do you think that it would cut the thrill of the movie? [marymarj2002]
I have not heard of any theaters here in the states doing that but wanted to see how people would feel if they did do something like this. It would be nice to stretch a little during long movies. It could take excitement out of the movie though. [kgwat70]
Longer movies used to have an intermission in them. Of course they did away with those as movies got short for a long time there but now that movies are longer again, going on three hours or more depending on the movie, I think it should be brought back. Actually I always thought it was a good idea for any movie over an hour (any movie besides many Disney animated in otherwords). This way people can go to the restroom, refill their drinks or buy more snacks, walk around and stretch their legs and what have you. [emeraldisle]
None of the theaters here have ever done anything like that but I think some of us would love to have this idea in place, at least for the longer movies. The movies are getting to be pretty long again as well as expensive and would not want to miss a good part of the movie. [kgwat70]
Thats a great idea. They always had intermission for the drive in movies, they should have it for movies at the theaters too. [Polly1]
That sounds like a good idea to me. Of course I wouldn't be using the restroom or getting a snack, I'd be outside having a cigarette.(I know...its a bad habit). I can go the whole movie without one its just the idea that I can't smoke that drives me crazy.lol. [brendalee]
i don't think i'll go for this. i love watching movies, and would terribly hate the interruption. i'd prefer getting all the snacks and doing all the necessities before the movie starts, so i'll have uninterrupted viewing pleasure. [lovelyprune]
I think that would be awesome!!! I am normally the person that is sitting there trying to figure out if I will miss much if I run to the bathroom. Or someone with me will decide to get refills and then have to asked what they missed when that got back. In turn, I miss what is said when trying to answer the person or disturbing the people around us because we are talking. I think if they had breaks for the bathroom and refills, more people would be happy! After all, I am the person that is usually making a mad dash to the bathroom just before the ending because I really can not wait any longer! [brokentia]
I think it would be great too but I see the other members points that the lines would be very long and could take a while before people come back. :-) I would need the break for the restroom and to stretch my legs. :-) [kgwat70]
I love this idea. I have to go to the bathroom at least once during a movie. I wish you would start a petition or soemthing. I have to rate this very positive. What an idea! [Anakata2007]
Years ago, long movies used to have a musical intermission. I wouldn't mind this at all. I often have a hard time sitting for over two hours in a theater. It would help if I could get up and stretch and use the restroom. [brimia]
In the state I grew up in, there was an intermission on all movies over 2 hours and I thought it was great. We didn't pay very much to see a movie at the time, but more people went to the afternoon showings, as the theater use to be packed. Now when I go home to visit my brother the theater has only a few people and there aren't any intermissions. My friends that have always lived in California where I'm living right now, tell me there has never been intermissions here. [Fishmomma]
Actually Ken...in the old drive-in movies I recall them having a break..I remember a big box of popcorn showing on the screen and some reminder telling you it's time for refreshments.. Do you remember the drive-in movies? [littlefranciscan]
I do not remember drive in movies very well as it has been so long ago and not sure if I had ever seen one in that type of theater before. I wish that I had experienced that. I don't think we even had any here in Delaware during my existence. [kgwat70]
Old movies used to have intermissions. I think it'd be a great idea. Theaters try so hard to get you to buy popcorn and drinks, and then you drink heavily caffeinated beverages, and you must go to the bathroom around the climax of the movie. An Intermission halfway through would be excellent. Bathroom breaks, and refills. From this website to Mr. Carmike's ears. [MrCoolantSpray]
No, I wouldn't like it. I want to watch without interruptions from beginning to and end because i dont think i will like it what if the excitement is already high then suddenly they announce a break, that would spoil the moment. I have watched 3 hour movies before and i remember not wanting to get up even for once, I was just glued there anticipating what would happened next. [mayenskie]
I agree this would be a wonderful thing to have. I don't go to the movies very often but during the long movies especially it would be nice to restock the popcorn or use the toilet. Great idea.. [14missy]
Movies used to do thia all the time it was called intermission, Gone with the wind has one built right onto the tape or DVD! I love the idea of brining it back I always need to refillme drink and go to the restroom and miss part of the movie in doing so! I cannot stand it when it happens! [flagbabygirl]
we have this facility of giving a interval for the movie iam from india its quit resonable to give a interval i prefer that all the theater in world should do this i hope that they do that. [visu1009]
I totally agree with you. We don't go to the theater much because my husband has to get up and go all the time. Or has to refill his popcorn. I would love and intermission at the theater. It would make it more confortable for alot of us. [beautyoperater]
I think that cinemas taking a break in the middle of a film would be a great idea, especially in longer films. 3 hours is far too long to sit still, and everyone rushes for the toilet at the end. Taking a break without missing a movie would be a lot more comfortable. [randomosity_prevails]
It initially sounded like a pretty good idea, especially since some movies can reach three hours in length. But, then I got to thinking about the stragglers, the ones that would get back to their seat after the movie had restarted and disturb the rest of us. This part doesn't sound good. Enjoy your day:) [newadd]
It certainly does sound very good for numerous reasons but it could also cause problems as well. Long lines, taking too long to return, people talking as well as having to wait if the movie was really good. I usually get everything done before the movie starts so I do not have to get up during the movie. [kgwat70]
Here we get a fifteen minute break after forty five min show of the movie. Its very relaxing [healer]
I dont think I would like it at all. If it were a packed house that night, you would not get your seat back and may not even find a seat where you and your friends could sit together at all. [villageanne]
That is a great point as well as someone could end up stealing your seat unless you have a friend or family member to watch your seat for you. [kgwat70]
I think the last movie I saw with an intermission was Ghandi, back in the 80's. The older epic movie's such as Gone with The Wind always had an intermission. These were really long movies though. If it was just a regular movie I would be annoyed. I like to watch uninterupted. Just remember what I told my kids before they went into the theater..."do you have to go?" [AskAlly]
I think this would be a great idea for kids movies, as they sometimes can't wait a few hours to go to the bathroom and it seems to disrupt everyone in the theater. I think adults should be able to think ahead and go to the bathroom before the movie starts and get all of their snacks together. Oh, here's a little tip for you if you eat popcorn at the theater ... ask them to butter it half way through. Get a napkin and put a little bit of salt in it so that if you need it later on you won't have to get up to leave. My husband used to think I was crazy for doing this, now he insists on it! [imadriscoll]
That is a great tip and suggestion about the popcorn and butter. I will have to remember that the next time I go to the movies. Thank you very much for that advice. [kgwat70]
When I was a child I remember there being an intermission time. They would sell grab bags for the kids and also announce the deals that was to be had a the snack bar. It was a fun time for all. [ElusiveButterfly]
I would absolutely love a break during movies at the theater! I hate getting half way through a movie and having to go to the little jane's room!Another good thing about that is it would be a good time to be able to stretch out a little [66jerseygirl]
I agree that it would give us a chance to stretch, especially during a long movie. My legs get a bit stiff and fall asleep. :-) [kgwat70]
I think it'd be a great idea, cause not only would you not miss parts of the movie, but you wouldn't be interrupting anyone else in the process. Cause I know people hate when you're walking in front of them to go out of the theater to refill on snacks or go to the bathroom? [thisisrightnow]
Only during a really long movie. I like the intermission. So you can go to the restroom or refill your popcorn or soda and not miss the movie. Some need to just get up and stretch. But for me personally, I want to stay and watch the movie, but it it's a long move, then I am all for it. [applsofgld]
i think that that will be a great idea!! there were times that i just have to go to bathroom in the middle of the show and i couldnt as the movie was getting to the exciting part....in the end, i have to tolerate until the end of the show...and needless to say, i couldnt really concentrate much in the show as i kept on thinking about toilet, waterfall..you get the idea :D [euniceeleanor]
If movie theaters have breaks, then Id rather wait for it on TV.. for me it wont make a difference... :) [ogtuwan]
Well here in our country India, we always have intermissions. Its necessary here. I don't know why but they are. Its the lenght of the movie I guess that makes the intermissions to be really important. The moves made here are more than 2.5 hours. So people need to use the restrooms and need to fill themselves up with some snacks and stuffs to eat. I really didn't know that outside our country there are no intermissions. Good knowledge for me. [unishwetabh]
I would love it! i could get up stretch my legs, go the restroom, and not miss any of the show! I hope they start doing this! I love this idea [LouiseK]
Personally I think it would be sort of ignorant for anything 2 hours and under. First off if you can't sit through 2 hours of entertainment without refilling your food and beverage you need to rethink your eating habits! Just my own thought! And pretty much the same for potty breaks... if you can't hold it for two hours you might want to look into some medical issues! LOL For like 3 hour movies I guess it could be acceptable, like Titanic. I have to admit I finally couldn't hold it after drinking my entire 32 oz. diet pepsi! LOL So I suppose for anything in the 2 1/2 hour and over range it could be ok. [hockeygal4ever]
I knew you were a smart one ...lol..that sa great idea...I haven't been to the movies in years just because i always feel constrained to my seat ..if you get up yourare blocking someones view...so a break time would be beneficial to both the theatres and to the public ...the theatres would make more money on snacks and drinks even games and the public would enjoy the breaks too ..its wion win for both ... [lifeiseasy]
