I don't like horror movies, but there are still scary movies that are not horror movies at all. And so sometimes i have this feeling that i want to see a movie that will give surprise and that will me want to hold my breath. i don't want any thing too violent. any thing that can give me a little scare is enough. i am going to look for some action with some scary or breath gasping story. i will buy a dvd soon.

Some horror movies end up being pretty good, but a lot of them are terrible so I don't bother with horror anymore. Action is really good for that adrenaline rush and nail-biting suspense. I usually prefer laughing at a movie or crying instead of getting scared. [CaraKelly]

I like scary movies, but it depends in my mood. There are times that there are horror movies which are only a thriller, meaning not that scary at all, often times, There are horror movies with a lot of violence and usually morbid actions, which is disgusting but I admit is really scary. [resssaaa]

I think it's part of the basic human response to be curious about the unknown. It's like why we go on a rollercoaster - we want to be terrified and exhilarated because it's a nice change from the regular rigermarole where we just live out dull and normal lives. I may watch scary movies, but, that's usually because I know there may be a good plot underlying rather than any shock effect or something. I plain and simply have either grown an immunity to scary stuff, or perhaps it's because I'm more constantly trying to scare other people that I already know what to expect and when, from others and movies or even games. Hi hotsummer, well I'm actually a horror addict, and pretty much appreciate anything scary.hehe But if you want to get scared but still has a good story line, I suggest you try "shutter". It's really my favorite and has a good story too. It's an asian horror film but I'm not sure if hollywood had made a version of it already cause I heard they were interested on making a remake. All throughout my life, I have not been a fan of horror movies. They just rot in your mind and stick in it everywhere you go. One experience, I watched a scary movie, back when I was pretty young with my girlfriend, and I couldn't watch it like a little baby. I was trying to be tough and watch it as my girlfriend is bear hugging me like she was really scared, but she saw me close my eyes and then laughed. It was a very sad and awkward moment for me. But we still was together, but I just wished I could have taken that moment back and told her I was busy with like a family outing and couldn't go. I still had nightmares that night even though I only watched like half the movie. That was the first and last scary movie I have watched. I always have nightmares like the monsters pop out of my trash can as I do chores. (Yes, I was that childish and paranoid.) Up to this day, I still watch comedy movies and avoid scary movies with my friends. I don't really want them to know that I'm not a huge fan of it, because they might think I'm a baby or something. Well, I suggest the saw movies, unless it has been suggested already...there's also the Resident Evil movies, I hate zombies, yet I still watch those movies, I can't help it...zombies WILL happen by the way! They'll be trying to find a cure to something and then BOOM, zombies will arise! Now if the zombies will be the same from the movies, as in eating brains, who knows? The feeling of a person can be so realistic and unrealistic too,to get the fear off a person there are so many things everyone says to follow,the scaring yourself thing is a little surprise.I always try and make the emotions run wild in me and my friends by the horrifying pictures and clips,that goes with movies too as you too have a similar opinion. And since he bought a DVD player he brings home some of the most gory and scary crap that I have ever seen! I am a fan of horror movies but there were some that managed to drag me to watch the entire movie. Movies like Nang Nak (Thailand), Dark Water (Japan), Raz (India) and The Eye (HK) are a few of good movies that I watched. You might have different opinion for these movies though. One thing that make a scary movie scary is the element of surprise. Suddenly something pop out with loud sound effect. Hi hotsummer! Me too, I don't like horror movies. The last horror movie that I saw was "The Exorcism of Emily Rose" and it really scared the hell out of me!!! I haven't slept well for almost a month after watching it, always waking up in the middle of the night and not being able to sleep back again because I was just too scared. Also, I found myself crying because yes, I was really very scared. So after that, I promised myself not to watch any horror movies anymore, not even if it's just a movie trailer, before I'd go crazy. LOL. But I do watch some thriller movies but not the violent kind. I hate looking at movies with many killings and all. I just can't stand the site of a dead person brutally murdered and all that stuff. [veronizm]
Well, I don't think the need to seek fear is very normal. Probably what you seek more is the suspense and thrill of adrenaline that are a part of it...you don't have to necessairly go out purchasing horror movies to fullfill your wish. Just do something radical instead. [Eisenherz]
