What do you prefer to watch?... international movies like the ones made in the US and released all over the world... or local movies... those that are made in your own country and dubbed in your own language...
I prefer to watch international movies... it has been years since i last watched a local movie... some might say that is so unnationalistic of me... but what can i say... i love the quality, story line, special effects, actors and actesses of internationally made movies...
When the time comes when my country can produce quality films... those that do not conform to local standards... then... maybe be... i will be watching local films again...

I'm on the same track. I don't like local films..They are not as good as international, but there are some...very few that are good, and i normally watch them, but most movies are international movies that i watch. They are the best, the famous actors and all. [Rikza1]
I read that the movie industry in my counry is trying to improve the quality of movies being filmed... because it is clear that a lot of people are patronazing the international films... they were able to produce some good ones... but they still cannot be compared to the international movies... thanks for the response... welcome to mylot and i hope you enjoy your stay here... [aseretdd]
i would prefer International movies over local ones.they are technical masterpieces which we cant even dream of making. [jimonokata]
I agree with you... everytime i watch an international movie... especially the famous ones... the technical stuff always leave me in awe... and i think that movie technology has gone a long way since the silent movie genre... thanks for the response... [aseretdd]
I prefer to watch ones in English. Because I do not read fast enough to be able to keep up with subtitles. I live in the USA I think we make some good and some bad movies. I do not think I have ever seen a movie from the Philippines. [teapotmommommerced]
Yes, there are also bad movies made in the US... but most of the good ones are shown in my country... it won't be difficult for you to understand a Filipino movie... since the dialogues are most of the time in English... thanks for the response... [aseretdd]
Are you kidding I live in Libya where first of all local made movies are scarce and when they come out I can't stand them I would sit there writhing in pain and disgust from the stupidity of the script and actors and the actors' ugliness and the lies packed into the movie because we are still in a stage of development where it is impossible to make a movie that really reflects the local community . I don't even watch Arabic movies , you know Egypt is the country next to us and they have one of the oldest cinema industries in the world but I hate Egyptian movies I would never actively look for one but if I happen to run into a running movie and there were no other options there are some but very few Egyptian movies that I can watch to the end . It's not because of any inferiority complex either , it's just that cinema in this part of the world is nowhere near International standards of art or realism and the technical aspects are poor too because of limited funding (an incredible blockbuster is typically one where they spend a few million dollars , barely enough for B movies in US) I almost exclusively watch USA movies and I gained a good vocabulary from that to the degree I recommend Movie and TV watching in any language for anyone who wants to learn , it's far more easy and fun than taking lessons and lectures . Of course living in this godforsaken part of the world we have the luxury of watching and buying cheap pirated versions you can buy by the heap , and the same for PC and console video games hehehe [shogunly]
Based on how you describe it here... i guess the movie industry in my country is more advance than that one in yours... but still that cannot be compared to how international movies are... we also have the luxury of buying cheap pirated versions... but the government is trying its best to stop that... but they are not yet successful... thanks for the response.. [aseretdd]
american movies, i rarely watch local movies 'cause movies here in the philippines are so predictible [allamgirl]
I agree with you... the central theme of movies in the Philippines are mostly the same... if it is action... then revenge is always present... if it is a love story... the typical boy meets girls, romeo and juliet syndrome is there... the list goes on and on... thanks for the response... [aseretdd]
Hi friend, i like to see both films. New tech and stuffs only can see in hollywood only. But also i am great enthusiast in local film. Especially in bollywood. I think our country produces the largest number of films. Thank you. [ajesh_pullad]
I heard about the bollywood industry... and they say that it produces more movies than hollywood... but i have yet to see one bollywood movie... they are not shown in my country... and i rarely see a dvd of one... but if i chanced upon a bollywood movie at the mall... i will surely buy it... thanks for the response.. [aseretdd]
I actually do not watch movies very much. i like some international and some local movies. there are many nice films made at our copuntry. i like mainly art films/ [subha12]
I heard of the bollywood films... and this industry makes more movies than hollywood... although i have never watched one... but i am hope that i will in the future... i just hope that it is already dubbed in English... thanks for the response... [aseretdd]
Back when I was still in college, my peers and I would consider the local movies cheap and boring. But that was more than a decade ago. Now, I would say that the film industry here in the Philippines has quite improved and some of the film outfits have already produced a lot of quality films which have received awards and recognition, at one point in time, outside the country. I must admit that I don't have plenty of time to watch movies, whether local or foreign. As a matter of fact, it's been more than five years since I watched a movie in a theater house. Also, my husband would almost always be the one holding the remote of the television. But whenever I do, I've noticed that I would watch both local and foreign ones. [mykmari_08]
There is indeed a significant improvement on the quality of local films... but there is still a lot to improve... especially when it comes to using technical effects... and up until now... no local film appeals to my interest... maybe in the near future... thanks for the response... [aseretdd]
Hello aseretdd, I like to watch a good quality international movies - doesn't matter the language they used in the movie. It has been quite some times since the last time I watched local movies due to lack of qualities. I remember watching the good ones but there were just a few of them. The rest of the local movie products really sucked. I am not patriotic enough - when you talk about supporting your own local movies made by your own people, but it doesn't mean I am not patriotic at all. [gr8life]
You are very much welcome... why don't you add the best response sortie in your homepage... so that you will see if you got the br when you log in... [aseretdd]
I like US movie. I don't like my local movies. My local movies don't have a good quality. To me, it is very poor compare to US movies. It is poor in every way about movie. Poor in story line, poor in picture quality, poor in editing, poor in every way you can imagine. For me, watching local movies is the same as wasting my time and my money. It is not worth any of my attention. [wilo2001]
But even though it has been a long time since i watched a local movie... i make it a point to read reviews about some that created such a buzz... and i found out that local movies have improved a lot... but they still cannot be compared to the international ones... thanks for the response... [aseretdd]
Hello, aseretdd! Actually i watch films of English language and the local Hindi and Oriya films.I never go to halls for watching films whatever is telecast through tv channels I just watch.but the preference is more for local films.thanx. [bbsr13]
When i was younger... i always watch English films so that i will improve my English... and that really paid off... and i watch them on tv rather than on theaters... because i don't have money then... but nowadays... i go to the theater to watch international films just to unwind and relax... thanks for the response... [aseretdd]
I am not a movie freak so I do not watch much. What our movies protray are our lives and if it looks not as beautifully done like the imported films, that is because we are it. We lack the technology and if we will not support it, we will not improve. [everlasting]
Well, i think if we will support the bad movies... they more that producers will not improve the quality... the lack of enthusiasm for local films paved the way for its improvement... which is now apparent... but if they will improve more... then i think i will start watching local films again... thanks for the response... [aseretdd]
Hello aseretdd, I love both and always find time to watch international as well as local Movies! I am quite picky about local, I will only consider the love story and comedy with my favorite stars~ [checapricorn]
HI there aseretdd, I agree with you, not all movies will pass our standards as a person..LOL! ENjoy! [checapricorn]
i'd rather prefer international film's....yet sometimes i go with local tooo [srivarun16]
A lot of people prefer international films because of the quality and well know actors and actresses... thanks for the response... welcome to mylot and i hope you enjoy every minute of your stay here... [aseretdd]
I'm not much of a movie goer but like you I mostly watch or maybe prefer to watch international movie since I can definitely see the level of quality. But in local movies most of the films I watch are those indi films and or short movies.. I'm not really into mainstream movie industry here in my country. Though the indi movies here are low budgeted but the story and how it can affect you are great which I think what the big movie makers lack. [lossforredwords]
A movie can be great as long as the story and how it is made uses skill and creativity... big budget are on required if a lot of special effects and expesive props are to be used... most of my favorite international films do not have big budgets... and local films should learn from these... thanks for the response... [aseretdd]
Hi Aseretdd: Did you know that Canada was called "Hollywood North" because so many American films are made here. Most Canadian films are in French, animated or used for TV. I don't care much for dubbed movies because most people that come to see them know the language and talk through the film. Have a great day. Ivor [TheSpy]
There are some French Canadian films made in Quebec. American movies are mostly made it Toronto, Calgary, Vancouver and Victoria [TheSpy]
well most being shown right now in the country are international movies, so we usually watch them.. it's been a while that the country has produced quality films. most usually produce film for the film festival on december or most are indie films already.. but indie films are now much more popular here, so if there's one, we'd watch it. [masterviajero]
I think i will try to watch an indie film... but i will not go for ones that have sex as the storyline... i think that type of plot is so over used... a lot of indie films in my country are making waves... and winning awards... but i still need to check them out... thanks for the response... [aseretdd]
I'll always say international movies. Tagalog films need to be better and you're right, same tagline, same plot, same story. It gets boring. At least in the Philippines the movie doesn't have to be dubbed in Tagalog also. In Spain, Daniel Radcliffe as Harry Potter is dubbed. Kinda ruins the film for me. Someone as hot as Orlando Bloom as Legolas or Ben Barnes as Prince Caspian wouldn't look and sound hot enough if dubbed. Lol. [joliefille]
In fairness to Philippine local movies... they are improving as the years pass by... but it would take a long time... or even a miracle before they can be equally compared to international ones... thanks for the response... welcome to mylot and i hope you enjoy your stay her... [aseretdd]
Well, i like American and British movies. Japanese movies are great also. Our local movies here in the Philippines are not that great, directors and producers seems to focus more on the profit they'll get than the movie itself. [chayd825]
I like some Japanese movies to... i think they have the best cinematography... i hope local movies in our country would improve more so that more Filipinos will patronize them... thanks for the respnonse... [aseretdd]
Well, I am an American so your favorite foreign films are my local movies. That said I do like watching movies from other countries. I prefer them to be in their native tongue with subtitles. [sarahruthbeth22]
A lot of the local films in your country are already considered international films... even the B movies make their way to my country... i also like French films... and those that were made in Japan... i also do not mind the subtitles... thanks for the response... [aseretdd]
i don't really like to watch local movies. the plot is so boring. with almost the same "popular" but not so talented starlet and actors potraying the same drama and all. i watch local indie films though. i think they are more artistic in terms of cinematography and plot. i like to watch international films also. specially those action and fantasy movies. [chaigay20]
I have not tried watching a local indie film... but they are currently making waves in my country... maybe i will try to catch one when i get the time... the other popular local films do not appeal to me... because the ending or the whole story is very predictable... thanks for the response... [aseretdd]
To me its not so much as where the film was shot and produced but the film itself. For example I love horror films-everything from the B&w silent Nosferatu and Freaks to modern The Others. My favorite movie is Breakfast @ Tiffany's. I also love Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon and House of the Flying Daggers. My sister hates anything in B&W or that is silent-I feel she is missing out. My daughter doesn't like reading subtitles or anything too "boring" as she puts it. [heatherhedyjon]
We all have our own likes and dislikes when it comes to watching movies... i don't mind subtitles... but i have never watch a black and white film for a very long time... i think they are no longer available in my country... thanks for the response... welcome to mylot... and i hope you enjoy your stay here... [aseretdd]
As you can observe from my profile,I'm from India and India boasts of the second largest film industry in the world. So obviously,I prefer to watch Indian movies produced in the Bollywood, which has been the nickname given to Indian Hindi film industry. Though Hollywood movies are undoubtedly better in the quality and every other aspect, some of the Bollywood movies are also of good quality feel that local made films are more liked by people if they have good quality storyline, action, cinematography, acting, music etc. [suruchi86]
Hope your desire of watching a bollywood film shall soon be fulfilled. Thanks... [suruchi86]
I watch all sorts of movies. Most of the movies I watch are from Hollywood. However, I also watch movies from Hong Kong, Korea and Japan. I especially like movies from Japan. As for local movies (Singapore movies), I only watch when my parents want to to watch. My parents like local movies as it's funny. However, most of the jokes are local jokes which only locals understand. If foreigners were to watch, I doubt they will understand a single joke. lol [poohgal]
I agree with you... local comedy films are for the local residents... but in my case... i got so used to watching hollywood films that... i get most of the jokes... i also like movies from Japan... their cinematography is the best... thanks for the response... [aseretdd]
I like Norwegian movies the best. They have become much much better during the last decade, and more movies are made every year too. I like foreign movies as well. But sometimes it is nice to see a film where people talk my language, and the story is more in tune with my way of living, and I know all the ingredients in the film. I know all the references [teison2]
I have never seen nor heard of Norwegian movies... nor have i watch a film that is about the country Norway... or the culture... i hope i will be able to watch one in the futures... i am a movie lover... especially the quality ones... i have been so used to wathing English films... that i don't mind if they are not dubbed in my own language... thanks for the response... [aseretdd]
i watch both..it really doesnt matter until the story is good [cyberkunal]
That is a nice thing... if the story is good... and the quality is great... then the movie is worth watching... thanks for the response... [aseretdd]
I definitely prefer international movies to local movies here because the local movies here suck! They find some youngsters here to make movies but I really don't think they can act, that's why I hate watching local movies, it's a waste of time. [wondericequeen]
I agree with you... they don't make the most out of the small budget that they have... unlike the indie films... which are now making a lot of waves... because of the good quality and acting... despite the lack of budget... i think bad movies should be outlawed... thanks for the response... [aseretdd]
I love international movies, though I'm not referring to US blockbusters. I really love European and Asian movies. I will watch US movies, because my partner likes them, but I find the majority of them meaningless, unless they are 'indie' films. I rarely watch Australian films (which are my local movies) as I can rarely find anything about them I connect with. There are a few exceptions, but I tend to not like Australian films. [kriszelunka]
I like the blockbuster US movies... because of the technical effects... the big budgets can make wonders... among the Asian movies... i think those that are made in Japan are the best... and the indie films are also making a lot of waves... i guess because of the good acting... and good story lines... thanks for the response... [aseretdd]
I like international movies because they are good movies. I think no substandard movie will reach the international level.I am not sure. Any how I like to watch the different culture, way of life, technology and also the differenet type of stories. [daffodil1949]
I agree with you... only great movies will only reach the international level... but even those with not so great effects... as long as the story will reach out to most people... then that can also reach the international level... thanks for the response... [aseretdd]
there are a lot of international movies released every year while the local movie industry here produces very few movies nowadays so i chose to watch the international movies because seldom that local producers here produce a quality movie worth watching [cecilsevera]
There was a time when hundreds of local movies were produced each month... but almost all of them lack quality... but people still went to see them... but now that movie goers are already matured and choosy about what they watch... local producers lessen the movies... and are trying to create quality ones... but they still cannot be compared with the quality of international movies... thanks for the response... [aseretdd]
i love international movies too because of so many reasons such as the actor and actresses, modern technology effects, the story, the director and so on. i watched movie with local artist but internationally made. we have some known artist here have a privilege to joined some Hollywood actor. watching local movies seems you know already what will happen in the end. [julyteen]
That is true... most local movies are too predictable to handle... and a lot of them end up with a song and dance number... which can sometimes drive me crazy... so i really prefer the hollywood films... thanks for the response... [aseretdd]
i also prefer to watch international movies rather than local movies.. whenever i watch a local movie i can find that it was based on foreign movies or the storyline was very close.. or always depicts rich status characters as most recent movies are showing bunch of rich kids having big time family businesses.. anyway, as a compliment to local films, i noticed that it has now evolved though slow and now uses more advance filming techniques and effects.. [luiscpatag]
I agree with you... local movies are now evolving slowly... with story line becoming more and more interesting... i chanced upon some local movies in Cinema One... and i was quite impressed with them... but they were mostly indie movies... Thanks for the response... [aseretdd]
I always go for the originals. You don't get the life and soul of the movie in the dubbed versions. The real emotions of the actors will be definitely lost in the dubbed ones. Moreover every word cannot be interpreted in the true meaning of it in every other language. [balasri]
Okay, now i understand... thanks for clarifying... [aseretdd]
Seriously our local films haven't produced any movies worth watching; and I would not consider paying money to watch them. I prefer the international movies from US or UK (English-speaking) and Hongkong (Chinese movies). Others like Japan, Korea and Thai do have some good movies, but I usually watch only their horror productions. [lazeebee]
Well, there are some that i found good... but that is a rare case... you must be very brave... i am such a chicken for when watching horror movies... so i stay away form them... Thanks for the response... [aseretdd]
i like watching international movies because it is a quality film, i only watch local movie when i like the actor or the actress in the movie and when they get my attention on the movie thriller they advertise. [Margarit]
Well, i try not to pay too much attention to the advertisement... because when the ad is great... most likely the movie is not that great... that is based from my experience... Thanks for the response... [aseretdd]
