Is Watching Repeats Wasting Time

Do you ever find you are watching a tv program or film and you have seen it before, sometimes once, sometimes twice, sometimes many times before? But because you enjoy the programme or film so much that you don't worry if you know it inside out and know how it ends. Do you think that watching a film for example over and over and over again is a waste of time or is a film still as enjoyable, as entertaining and as watchable no matter how many times you see it? Is there a film that you can see more than five times? It occured to me when I watched Star Wars Revenge of The Sith for the fifth time that I know the plot inside out and I know what happens and yet I still love every minute of it and I still feel sad when Anakin goes over to the dark side, that young little blond lad suddenly turning into the most hated man or machine in space! Yes, I know it's a story but it still makes me sad! Surely seeing a film once is enough, why do you watch repeats?

responses and comments:

when theres nothing ese on, i guess, i wach friends online a lot, seen them all. i dont watch TV a lot and i have only lie 10 channels, but i think its fine, TV in general makes me sad, we could be doing better things, but whatever [JulianaRose]
Oh I love the golden girls and yes I have watched the episodes over and over again and I could still go back and watch more of them as they are so funny.... and yes i love watching friends too, we have the whole lot on DVD. [msmell]

Oh my dear wolfie, I have seen Titanic over 100 times I can say the lines word for word. lol And yet i never grow tired of watching it again. In fact i just got done watchig it a few minutes ago. I have it downloaded on my computer. it is my all time favorite movie and i love the ending. So no watching them again is not a waste of time if you enjoy them that much. [mssnow]
As it's you I'll agree to share him ;0) [wolfie34]

I don't think watching a repeats or movies over and over again is a waste of time specially if you enjoy it. [dhedows118]
exactly, I agree. If its what you enjoy doing, why not? [Teague]

Yes I watch movies not only once but to a maximum of 3 times especially if the film appeals to my taste. I've watch The Italian Job 4 times I think because I really like the story. My husband does the same with his all time favorite Star Wars like you. I've watched Titanic twice, Transformers 3x and the other movies I like twice. For me it's not a waste of time if you watch movies over and over again because you are enjoying so why care? Besides enjoyment can't be measured by putting limitations to yourself, but by being free to do the things that will satisfy you. So happy watching over and over again! [Yori88]
Sometimes I find you can even pick up something from the film that you have missed the first or second time around! Some films are complicated and you need to watch them twice to fully understand them, for example the Saw films, they are highly confusing but when you have seen them twice or sometimes three times you start to understand the complex storyline behind it! [wolfie34]

If a movie or show is REALLY good then why shouldn't you watch it again? As long as you enjoy watching it and it doesn't bother you I think it wouldn't really matter. I barely watch repeats, has to be extremely good or I don't really see a reason to it. [mdesigning]

I alway watch a tv program or film over and over again. It isn't a waste of time. Each time i watch that film or program, i can experience different feelings. I used to watch Titanic for about 6 times. And i cried each time. We watch a tv program or a film over and over again because we really love it. If we don't like it, even if it is the first time i watch it, I think it is a waste of time. Another reason that I watch repeats is that it is easily for me to forget things. So, I need repeats to remind me every detail of the films or tv programs. [landi927]
Titanic seems very popular from the responses I have already read and yes I have to admit I have seen this film more than five times and it's the only film that has made me cry, so great for purging the emotions on! [wolfie34]

yep i think so. because there is so much other things in world to watch rather than to watch repeats when you know the whole story. [inder86]

Depends on how you define "waste of time" These days, most that is on TV is a waste of time to watch it in the first place! I can watch reruns of I Love Lucy over and over - I can recite the dialog along with them, cause I have watched them so much - have the complete box set and watch whenever I want to ...why - comedy, hilarity and plain simply fun! THey don't make comedys like they used to . These days it is all about s*x and divorce and who's with who and doing what with who and then they try to make that funny. Might work the first time around, but once is usually enough. But I Love Lucy is not hte longest running show in TV history because it is not funny! IT is classic comedy and if you want to have fun, relax, enjoy time out - you need something funny. Andy Griffith show is the same why - just plain funniness - nothing serious, no killings, murders, s*x, you don't have to "work" to keep up with it or remember what happened last time to make sense of this time...just enjoy a funny 20 minutes. the movie Long Long Trailer - with Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz - not only can all that happen for real (I have livedin a 35 ft travel trailer - yes it can happen!) but just the comedy is so amazing I watch it over and over. And when I am depressed, I turn this movie on and next thing I know I am laughing and calm from the depression and get up and go again. I don't call that a "waste of time". [coffeebreak]
Laughter is indeed the best medicine my friend, we have One Foot In The Grave in the UK which I watch and has me in stitches no matter how many times I watch it. I also love Golden Girls and never get fed up with watching them over and over again and they have tears rolling down my face everytime! [wolfie34]

I dont think it's waste of time at all. I watch repeats many times of serials and movie. A movie named 'Rehna hai tere dil mein (RHTDM)' i have watched more than 13 times but still like to watch it, and one of the favourite movie 'Sholay' i have watched more than 30 times. There same case with me when i like serial. I like to watch the repeats bcoz i enjoy them. I feel happy. Many other shows and serials i have watched many times. [v4vikas]

I think it's because of the way they make us feel....so it's not the show so much, as the feeling that we want to repeat Wolfie. Just my thought on it. [Kashigurl]
Cool Wolfie....I'm happy for you. If you work it, you will see a monsterous difference. I look forward to hearing from you on that. ::smiles:: Kashi [Kashigurl]

Haha... are you talking about me, friend?lol I love watching movies or films and i do not care how many times I have watched a particular movie as long as I am enjoying it hehe... One movie that I will never really get tired watching is "Somewhere In Time" and "AirBud". I am in love with those filmswub [hornetlover]
I agree! And also the thought of the moviehappy [hornetlover]

Depends on what film or TV program it is... If I have seen a good movie and it comes again I watch it if I have nothing else to do and if itīs a boring film I donīt watch it. Iīve seen Pearl Harbor about 5 times and I still think itīs good. And iīve watched all of the Lord of The Rings perhaps 2-3 times =). And I often watch Prison Break and Heroes episodes 2 times, one time on the computer and one time on the TV. Some films may be enjoyable and some not, that depends on the person watching them. [Bobban20]

Hi!yes, there are some movies I watched repeatedly. And I don't find it a waste of time watching them over and over again. For as long as it still entertains me and I find them enjoyable. One of them is Chipmunks..LOL I still love to watch it with my girls. [teshavill]

I don't really do repeats because I feel like, most of the time, they are a waste of my time. But, if it's a movie, or episode, that I haven't seen in a while, I don't mind so much. It can be enjoyable waiting for your favorite part, or line, to come up in the movie You may catch something that you missed before. And, sometimes who you're watching the movie with can make it a whole different experience. You can also have an emotional connection to the show/plot ... it can be comforting to you at the moment. I know that I have watched the Color Purple many times. [jalucia]
Was Whoopie Goldberg in that film? I vaguely remember Color Purple, maybe I am wrong, thank you for your response! [wolfie34]

Hi ya wolfie34 I own very few dvd's actually mainly because I am not a one for watching films over and over again. I do have my favourite film's on dvd though like the original film of The Italian Job, The Great Escape, Pulp Fiction, Grease and some dvd's of Derren Brown! Mad mixture I know but hey that's me, a mad mixture! [Humbug25]
Thanks for letting me know that wolfie my friend I can now sleep at night!! LOL lol [Humbug25]

I watch reruns of Everybody Loves Raymond over and over. Also The Nanny. I know the Nanny is really silly but it makes me laugh. I am not a Star Wars fan but I have watched Casino and Goodfellas several times. I do not consider it a waste of time. [muscles4me]

I don't think it's a waste of time, Wolfie. If I liked something that much that it makes me want to see it again, I don't see it wasting time. I've probably seen "Close Encounters of the Third Kind" at least five times. I've seen "Titanic" several times, and regardless of what else is on, if I spot "Invasion of the Body Snatchers" being broadcast, I'll drop all to watch it . Another is "Pretty Woman" and still another "Miss Congeniality."It's kinda like eating. If you enjoyed a pizza with everything last month, it's still a new treat THIS month, right, and not a waste of time. Memo to self: Just don't try to eat "Titanic," RJ. That's a MOUTHFUL! (C) 2008 RJScott [rjscott]
If any Bond film comes on I'll watch it, I have probably seen them that many times I could play Bond and know the script! It's a guy thing everyone wants to be Bond and I never get tired of them, they always put them on at Christmas and holiday time and I don't care if I have got all the dvds I will still watch them! [wolfie34]

I can watch The Wizard of Oz and never tire of it. Sometimes when we watch a movie over again, we see things we didn't before. Some movies are enjoyable to watch over and over. Pretty Woman, The Notebook, Under The Tuscan Sun. I can watch these over and over. [SuzyQ12]
Brilliant Wizard of Oz, of course, yep definitely agree with you on that one! [wolfie34]

I find myself doing this a lot. I personally don't think it is a waste of time. One reason I like to watch reruns is because it may have been a while since I have seen it the first time. Another reason to watch something again is to make sure you didn't miss anything the first time. Especially a mystery or something that has a problem that needs to be solved and their are clues during the show or movie. I can watch Ever After as many times as I want to. Also, Count of Monte Cristo is the best!!! [tennissandgirl]
Yes, the newer one with Guy Pearce. I have seen other versions of Count of Monte Cristo but the newer one has been the best. I have also read the book which is good by itself! Thanks! [tennissandgirl]

As you know I fall asleep through films so I have to watch them more than once before I see the complete thing. I love to watch the old Tommy Steele musicals and it's more than Mr Crocs life is worth to try and stop me no matter how many times I've seen them. If you enjoy something then it's never a waste of time doing it. [nannacroc]
I guess the same applies to reading the same books too, I can read the Harry Potter books over and over again and never get bored of them. [wolfie34]

I love watching some repeats! I like the comedy repeats like "Only Fools and Horses". This is a terrific British comedy and a lot of the different episodes keep on coming back every year at Christmas. I do get irritated with some repeats and I just keep on switching the channel in order to avoid them. I never get bored with the Star Wars films, I love them so much and I could go on watching them forever! I'm a bit spaced out you see! Andrew [AndrewFreyne]
I love One Foot In The Grave and Golden Girls. Do you love the Chandalier episode on Only Fools? Classic episode. Tonight I ordered off Ebay Star Wars Episode 1 and 2 because those are the only two I haven't got on DVD! I had them on video but not yet on DVD. I wish they would release Golden Girls Series 4 and 5 on Region 2, because it's American only region 1 is available STILL!!!! Grrrrrrrr I have Series 1-3 but want 4 an 5! [wolfie34]

i know someone who watches everything over and over again and i am so tired of it, he wantches EVERYTHING over again, i think it is a waste of time, and i sit here and roll my eyes each time he wants to watch something again and again, i mean there's hundreds of channels on my telly but he still wants to watch the old rubbish which bores the hell out ot me, i think he's seen every columbo show at least 10 times, this is boring, i wish he'd change the record because watching that over and over again is starting to really get on my wick...so yes, it is a waste of time, if i watch something once, then that's it...once it is.... [tattylashes]
not only that, he watches star trek, bottom, red dwarf, poker games, the good life, anything that he's watched once, he watches again and again, i swear i could throttle him, i don't know why he does it, i mean why watch something that have already seen before, it's pathetic, so now i just resort to my bedroom and watch what i like, ONCE, if i see a movie i don't want to watch it for a 2nd or 3rd time, i have seen it once, that's enough, but him, well he likes to watch the same things over and over again, i don't mind jeremy or anything like that but if it's been on before, the same show then i won't watch it again, why do they do this...i still can't figure that one out.. [tattylashes]

I have a few movies I have seen multiple times. Independance Day and Armeggedon come to mind and I still cry and laugh at all the right places. As for TV shows, MASH has not been a new show for over 10 years and I still watch it every chance I get and can recite the dialouge right along with the characters. Waste of time? Probably. But it relaxes me to watch the familiar some times. In fact my family just watched Christmas Vacation last night for who knows how many times. And we loved it. Next up will probably be Elf:) [saracath]

I think if it is enjoyable, it is never a wast of time. I have walked out of movies, I didn't find enjoyable, because even if I paid for it, it is still a waste of my time, if I don't enjoy it. [lovelyladydancing]

If it's a film that you really love, you find that you notice things the second time around that you didn't the first time. But after that, it depends on the film. There are some that I can watch over and over and over again. [dawnald]

I do not like watching repeats on either TV or movies. I dont like reading the same book or magazine again either. It just bores me so it's actually hard for me to have a favorite movie or book. I dont know why Im that way I just am. [mrsjbelle]
I agree with you on reading books and magazines again, but they take a lot more time than watching a movie or television show. I won't read the same book twice. [patgalca]

I watch TV episode reruns over and over again. It can be fun because sometimes the second or third time I watch them I pick up on little things I might have missed before. I'll watch movies over and over again if they're on TV, but I don't make a point to go out and rent them again. Not that I think it would be a waste of time, but I do think it would be a waste of money. My best friend and I used to have Charmed marathons. She has all the seasons on DVD and we'd stay up all night just watching them all. Now that I have a kid it's not so easy, lol. [trinsmom21]
My kids always want to rent movies they have seen and that drives me crazy. It is a waste of money and if I am there I make sure they don't rent a movie they have already seen. I put a stop to it. They have seen some movies so many times and paying every time. [patgalca]

No, I donb't think it's a waste of time. Unless, you're doing it on purpose to put off doing something that is more important. There's a ton of movies I can watch more than one time. Just the same, there's some movies I can't watch all the way the first time. I also think some films need to be watched more than once, because so much is going on. [smartie0317]
I go through phases of that, too. However, I think it has to do with my stress level and my responibilites at that time. I.e. if I have nothing to do, I can watch like three movies in a row. If I have something due soon or am stressed, I tend to fall asleep. I think our mind has ways of telling our body things. [smartie0317]

Hi wolfie, I can only say for myself that I have seen repeat TV shows and movies most of the time because nothing else of interest was on. That being said, my hubby is a Star Trek fan. He also loves the Jurrasic Park movies and if I thought hard enough I could probably come up with something else he watches repeatedly. When I first realized this about him at first I thought it was odd. But when I thought about it, why not? As you said it's still entertainment no matter how many times you have seen it. Besides, some things are well worth the time. leenie [leenie50]

Well, for me its acceptable if it is a movie but if it is a the daily soap or a serial, I am not going to vote for it! I think its a waste of time even watch one fresh episode of the daily soap. Watching it again and again, goodness me, I don't know what to call. But again its my personal view. You can think in reverse! [sanuanu]

Since I rarely have spare time, I would have to say that it is a waste of time to watch things over again. I will sometimes watch things again though. Often at night if I'm going to drift off to sleep anyway or if it's a documentary and I'd like to refresh my memory on it. [Pigglies]

Sometimes I watch the same movie repeat.I don't think do this is a wasting time's thing.Because this movie is very interesting, moving, funning,or wonderful.I like to see them repeat. For example,Forrest Gump,I think this movie is very very good.I really like it.Everytime I see it,I always moved by the movie. [pzygtt]

Well their is one movie that i love to watch over and over again, it is a cartoon movie finding nemo. My nephews really like watching it everyday, they actually memories the lines in the movie. Even though i know the story very well i still like to watch it together with them. I dont think i was my time for it for i am injoying what i watch, but if i am not entertain of what i watch i guess it is a waste of time for me. Happy posting. happy [Margarit]

The only reason people watch repeats on television... is because there is nothing better to watch. And people watch television... either to relax... or because they have nothing better to do. So to answer your question... no it is not a waste of time to watch repeats. And if you watch them... it is because they are worth watching. There are quite a few films and TV series that I did watch more than 5 times. But these days... I am getting so many movies on DVDs that I don't have the time to watch repeats. lol [Aussies2007]

my hubby often watch movies or dvd's that he had already seen ..even years back....especially if the actor/actress was his favorite and likes the story so much i always expect it tha the will watch againlolhe likes brave heart actually and of course the actor itself ..i mean his acting...in my case i dont like watching it over again i feel its a waste of my time except if i dont understand the story ..then surely i will watch it again.. [vanities]

It is Never a waste of time to see a film over and over again. There are films that I have seen more than 10 times.I just saw The Godfather and The Godfather 2 . I have seen both of them so many times I know what is going to be said Before it is said. But I enjoyed them as if I was seeing them for the first time. and then there is my all time favorite film, The Usual Suspects, has a surprise ending and All the clues are all through the film. But when you see it the first time, you miss most of them.If there were a film where once is too much and 20 times is not enough, Usual Suspects is the film. The fun part is when I see a comedy that I have sen before and I start laughing at a joke that hasn't been said. And one last thing, it is fun to see a favorite film that you can share with loved ones. One of my best memories of my mom is waking her up in the middle of the night so we could see The Day Of the Jackal, one of our favorites.Another great memory is seeing Casablanca with my nephew. He hadn't seen it and it was my , I don't know 200th time for me.I am glad we got to see it together. [sarahruthbeth22]

I don't think so. Actually I don't mind watching something I like repeatedly. I still enjoy watching it very much. Sometimes I will forget about the details. And sometimes it is even like I am watching something new again:) By the way, Star Wars is a good movie. Although it is old, however, its creation and imagination is still quite incredible until today. I like R2 very much:) I love China [youless]

I watch repeats because i love the movies and i enjoy them no matter how many times i have seen them. There are just movies that we have fallen in love with and would always welcome watching over again though we know them inside out. [sweetie1026]

We all have different priorities in life and we seek pleasure fro them. The lighter moments in life is equally important and we get charged up doing those. Spending our me-time essentially gets us going. If films are my choice and it is in reality, I would not mind watching some films again and again. I am a sucker for some beautiful moments in different films. They are so beautifully picturised that I feel like watching them for always. And guess what, things like that make my day. A little smile, a little care, little moments - simply out of the world! It certainly wouldn't be waste of time. Nope. [mimpi1911]

Yes I think so. I normally don't like to watch any program or film twice. Very rarely I'd do this and that too only in case of exceptionally good programs. [suruchi86]

Watching a tv program again and again makes so much sense to me as well as my classmates! Grey's anatomy, for example, I have watched the first season for 5 times, which is not enough though! The drama is so awesome that I am kinda screwed! lol. Besides, I don't mind watching the simpsons, a fabulous cartoon, another time! My freshman roommate, on the other hand, was even more amazing! She had watched "Friends" for four times and still had what it took! At the time, she kept chuckling and chuckling while watching it. If you happened to see her, you might think she was crazy. Actually, this was called accent training somehow! Lol, You know what? If someone wanna speak English like an American or a British guy, you are almost there by doing this! Plus, later after, you don't need subtitles anymore! As well as this, comunicating with you guys is very much so! By the way, I would say that your English is amazingly well though it is your native tongue! Not every native English speaks and writes English excellently! I've known some Canadian whose Enlish is even worse than me! Well, excuse for my brag! [hiddenwing]

If I really enjoyed something I do not mind doing it or watching it again because to me it would not be a waste of time. I never do anything that wastes my time. [whiteheather39]

In my opinion,itīs not a waste of time to see a movie more than 1 time. There are always a few things you will miss every time when you see it. If we are talking about reading,I have many books at home that I have been reading more than twice beacuse of that I always find them interesting [ennasus59]

I generally don`t watch repeats but sometimes if a movie which i liked is being shown aftermany years i then see it.Actually i am not fond of movies very much now. When i was schooling i was a voracious movie-goer and never used to leave even a single movie unwatched. Now that i`ve grown up and leading a retired life that hunger to see films has gone completely but if a movie from my childhood days is bein shown on the telly then i may watch it, otherwise i usually do not see repeat telecasts. [veejay19]

I quite like to watch new television programs that I haven't seen before. If I watched a movie in August 2005 I might have viewed it again in October 2007 and in July 2008. I wouldn't want to watch a movie again and again because that would be boring. If there are a few months gap it is quite enjoyable to watch a familiar movie again. I already know that I enjoy the movie like the Beach or Planes Trains and Automobiles for example. I have put in a friend request Wolfie because we used to be friends and it would be lovely if we could still be friends on My Lot. [maximax8]

well to me a waste of time is doing things that doesn't make me happy. if watching the repeat is an enjoyment to me, it's definitely not a waste of time. everything can be a waste of time if one is not enjoying it. i've watched quite a few movies for many times and i still enjoy it. all time favourites include pretty woman, mr & mrs smith and of course x-men. i know pretty woman inside out, including when vivan will say and what she'll say. but every time i watch it i still enjoy it. cheers winkwink [applefreak]

Yeah, I always find myself watching the same movie film. but not really tv series that will range to 30 episodes plus. That's way too much. But I watch movie films ever though they have six parts like starwars. Watched the while saga 7 times already and matrix, 4 times and lord of the rings, 5 times. If i really like to movie I don't bother watching it again even though I memorized most of the lines already. That is just when I don't have something to do really and I think I need to relax.:D [athlon24]

I seldom watch a movie or a tv program twice. But there are exceptions.I can watch many BBC Horizons on universe, black holes and Einstein over and over again. The more I see the more I get to know about them and I like to watch and understand the challenging subjects. In movies I am not tired of JFK because if the intricate plot and the great editing. And some old classics are forever too. [balasri]

I don't think watching repeats is wasting time. Because you enjoy the programme of film, you wanna see it more than once. [zhangfzoe]

no i don't see it as a waste of time cause sometime you miss something the first time. some movie are just good. i watch tyler perry movies over and over and it's always as good as the first time i saw it. [KENSHA29]

I never grow tired of watching my favorite tv shows and films over and over again.. and i never consider it as a waste of time.. as long as you're having a great time, do it.. one of my preferred tv shows is Prison Break! The scenes get exciting every episode or season as all the characters are really good most especially wentworth miller.. he's one smart guy! [gracie04]

If I enjoy a movie or a television program s lot, and there is nothing else on television worth watching, or nothing to do then I watch repeats. I think sometimes the film or show touches us in some way and we watch it again to reach that part of ourselves that it touched. Obviously there is something that draws you to the movie and you want to see it again and again. There are several movies I always enjoy seeing again (more that I don't ever care if I see them again). I think this happens to most of us. [quinnkl]

i hate repeats. sometimes it is very hard to find anytihng on tv to watch even tho i pay over $60 a month for cable. ridiculous!! [ANTIQUELADY]

I might watch a travel documentary twice but that is it. I don't usually watch a repeat on television since I do find it a waste of time. Đ ronaldinu 2008 [ronaldinu]

It depends on the show, really. If it's a CSI or a Law & Order I usually watch it again. Half the time I've forgotten the ending anyway. Also, if there is something else on that I haven't seen, then I may NOT watch the rerun. Usually I watch reruns when there is nothing else to watch. If it's not something I want to watch again I will turn off the television. As for movies, if I love the movie and I haven't got something better to do then I don't mind watching it again. But it has to be an appealing movie like a musical (Sound of Music, Grease, High School Musical) or comedy. Something that entertains me. Sometimes I may be on the computer and the kids will put a movie on and I think, "Oh, I don't want to see this" but then find myself glued to the tv. It really just depends on the show. [patgalca]
Oh, and let me add there can be some benefits to watching shows over and over again. For example, Joyce Meyer who is a spiritual teacher. I watch her online every day. I have seen the reruns but she is teaching lessons that one can certainly benefit from when watching it again. [patgalca]

Watching beloved movies over and over again is one of lifes pleasures. What you lose in discovery (as when seeing the movie for the 1st time), is more than made up with the joys of anticipation (for the scenes you love the most). I've seen some movies so many times that I have large amounts of the dialog memorized, but I still enjoy seeing it yet another time. Look at the cult that Rocky Horror Picture Show became, all because of repeat viewers! My family are big fans of the Star Wars movies, as well as the Harry Potter ones. My person favorites are Wizard of Oz, Groundhog Day and Beetlejuice. Do you have other favorites? [catdla1]

If it's wasting time, then I wasted a lot of my time then. If it's wasting time, then time wasted well. I like to watch reruns and repeats. I always find myself watching Scrubs on whatever channel it is on... and the 70s show and Law and Order (Original, CI and SVU). And then we have a collection of TV show DVDs that we get to watch over and over again. And don't get me started on my favorite movies. I've heard the jokes on Supertroopers so many times but I still laugh so hard. I just watch them because obviously, I enjoy them and it makes me laugh and sometimes, it's just good to let your brain follow something without exhausting it too much. [SaintAnne]

There are some movies that I feel the same way about so I bought them. It's kind of like having an old friend come by. There's comfort in knowing you will get to see them and that you know them. A lot of the time if there's a movie I'm watching over and over it's because that's what I was in the mood for or that was the type of emotion I wanted to feel at that moment or possibly even there's just a scene stuck in my head and I have to watch the movie to get it unstuck. It's almost like an addiction. Like the computer. You have to sign on at least once a day! [mlh8087]

If people didn't mind rewatching favourite TV shows then DVD sets would not sell as well as they do. TV is all about entertainment. As long as you enjoy it then it serves the purpose no matter how many times you have seen a show before. To me, certain favourite shows are like comfort food. If I only have an hour or two to watch TV on a given night and I'm tired and don't want to tax my brain too heavily, I might choose a repeat of an old favourite show over a new TV series. That way I know I will enjoy it and feel satisfied. And many times when I rewatch an old episode I will see things I never noticed before. This is especially true for a show like The Simpsons where the writers deliberately add in little details or "in jokes" that you need to look carefully to see. [Wordplay]

I love Sense and Sensibility as well as the Ten Commandments, and Gaslight. I could watch them over and over again. I also could watch some of the old time Tv shows more than once and the old Bond movies, do not like the new Bond when they made the boss a woman. The way she talked to Bond was as if he were her servant. But I liked it when Sean Connery was Bond, I could see those over and over again. So it depends. Much of the shows nowadays only deserve one or two watchings. [suspenseful]

There are movies that I watch again and again because they are really beautiful movies. I don't think it's a waste of time if you enjoy watching it again. If you are forced to watch a movie, then that's a waste of time for me. I always love watching romance movies again and again because they make you feel what was it to fall in love and be loved. If I considered a movie amazing, expect it that I'll watch it again. :) [angiemabute]

It's great to repeat movies especially when you want to reminisce the time when you really first watched it. I remember the movies I watched with my boyfriend who is now my husband and I love to watch those over and over again. It's not really all about the movie but the person or event that happened while watching that movie. [cfmedrano]

I don't think watching an interesting movie repeatedly is a waste of time, as long as you enjoyed it while watching it's worth it. I still watch " The sound of music" repeatedly even how many times I watched, I even memorised it but I still like watching and enjoyed it. Just like the film "Titanic" it made me cry when I first watched it and then when I watched it again it still made me cry because I was very touched about the story, and now I still wants to watch it. [lovelyvelle]

It's absolutely not waste of time.I watch movies or shows over and over again as long as I like it.Titanic,Final destination,CSI,etc,I all watched so many times. On the opposite,if I don't like it,I can't finish it even once. You can notice many details when you watching it again and can understand it's message deeply and moved by it more. It's watchable. Hi wolfie, I think it's like wasting time unless for a few of my favorite.. I've seen 'Lord of the Rings' sequels twice times each of them and also 'Kingdom of Heaven'. But my record is 'The Usual Suspect' , I've watched it 4 times and it's been along time ago, if the TV gonna play it again I still want to watch.. [HiLia2008]

if i really like it,i'll watch it every time it comes on. i can't tell you how many times i've seen clerks or a christmas story ("you'll shoot your eye out, kid!") star wars-the newer ones,i haven't watched as much-i can't stand that jar jar binks. [scarlet_woman]

I repeat movies because they are my favorites and Ican laugh and cry and sometimes even if I watch them more than five times I find something new... My all time favs to repeat are: Gone with the wind (Thanksgiving day tradition in my household) A Christmas Story (After thanksgiving day tradition) National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation (In between thanksgiving and Christmas) All throughout the year movies: Father of the Bride Dirty Dancing Steel Magnolias Ya-Ya Sisterhood Club Comedy movies I draw one liners out of and love to repeat them to make me laugh. I look at it this way. Orginal and unique movies are sooo good to watch over and over because they are funny and can seem to be real. [taface412]

Yeah, I watch repeats that I like so it is not a waste of time since i enjoyed watching it. It will be a waste of time if you watch something that is not your liking. I had watch more than five times the movie of Matt Damon: The Bourne Trilogy. But I don't watch it like several times in one day or daily. Just when I want to watch it again. I just love the fighting scene and it never bored me everytime... see yah! [howardskip]

I like to watch movie repeat and repeat if i like the movie.... lol I don't think that is a wasting of time but it is enjoy.... i have a few movie, i repeating watch till now i know what exactly the actor will said or what the actor will act...lol my mom scold me and said i crazy... watch until i can act already but i still like to watch.... sometime i watch with my dear, i will act for my dear too.... sometime my dear is not watching movie but is listen to me because i know exactly what will happen next.... lol [candysky]

Hi wolfie! I think if we still have fun for keep watching the TV shows or movies it wouldn't be a waste of time. I have watch FRIENDS and Seinfeld repeatedly and even though I have seen it couples of times, I still have a good laugh watching it. I think I also watched "King Arthur" few times and never get bored of it. Thanks! [CJay77]

Most of the time wolfie dear, I would rather watch a movie over again rather than watch a new one!! How silly is that. I don't mind how many times I see a movie if it's one I like. [MsTickle]

The only dvd's that I purchase are one that I know I will watch over again. Irent all my movies 1st, and then I decide if I like it to the point that I wiil buy it. There's nothing wrongwith watching repeats. If it's a show that you like, you will watch it over again. My favorite show was Married with Chidren. I have seen every episode, and I have the collection on dvd, because it doesn't come on anymore. Some shows and movies are like that. I wouldn't call it a waste of time. i just recently started following Tv shows such as The King Of Queens, Everybody Loves raymond, and 2 and a half men. I think I pretty much have seen every episode of King Of Queens, but I watch it everyday. When it comes to regulart tv it's different. I feel that you have no choice to watch the same shows everyday since to me, there really isn't anything worth watching anyway. I'm sick of all the court tv shows. And I don't know why the hell Jerry Springer is still on. When it comes to movies I do like to see something new. Out of all the dvd's i own, I don't even watch them regularly. But I know they are there if I ever truly get bored. I think we are all like this. when it's a show that you like, you watch it all the time, even if it's an episode or movie that you've seen before. [stinge]

Sometimes I like to watch movies more than once. I watch It's a Wonderful Life every year. LOL I make my husband watch it with me every Christmas. But I do watch other movies more than once. It's usually been a while before I watch it again though. We have a DVD collection and we've seen all of them but sometimes we pull one back out again and watch it again even though we know everything that's going to happen. Sometimes if you haven't seen the movie for a long time you forget what happens until it happens and then you are like oh yeah I forgot about that. [sweetgirl_k1]

I've watched many films several times over. I've had many videos and DVDs on my shelf for years, and when I put them on, I find I can't remember some of the them.. :-) [derek_a]

I watch a movie The Waterworld maybe three times as well as ClOSE.Eventhough I repeat watching the movie, I still enjoy it. But I absolutely agree that it was a waste of time. [ComEng]

I don't think watching repeats is a waste of time. There are a lot of shows and movies that my husband and I watch over and over. I think that if we (or anyone)enjoys something, there is nothing wrong with watching as many times as you feel like it. [cortney09]

happy I watched Titanic several times, and there are some that I love to see again and again. I watch the old Doris Day movies just for fun and soome of the classics. I a movie person , I love the old movie channels, and I like many of the old actors, like Anthony Quinn and all of them.I think if you love the show or movie enough after awhile you wont mind seeing it again. There are some that I really like because of the soundtracks in them. [eaforeman6]

I love to watch a favorite show or movie over and over again because I usually see something that I may have missed the first time I watched it. When I was younger I never liked watching reruns or repeats, but, now I see that there is a very valid reason to do so. Purrs, Catwoman=^..^= & Mija [kellyjeanne]

well no if you had missed some instance or the whole serials or program then its cool. and in the other case if you like that serial very uch and love every instance .that's another case...you can watch it 2-3 times but watching it more then that would be a silly thing to do,rather you could save that clip in your computer from tv tuner, and when you'd got enough time to spend you can watch it,that's how u can manage you time even rather wasting it ! [mone101]

Some films are just worth it. And in a good film, there is so much going on, every time you go back you see things that you didn't see before. [dawnald]
