Do you prefer to watch movies when they're aired on TV or would you rather put the DVD in yourself?
There is something about watching a movie on TV that I love. I don't know what exactly it is. Maybe it's because I run across movies on TV that I don't own, so I watch them then? I don't even mind the convenience of a DVD. I'd rather sit and flip through the channels and find a movie to watch on TV - even if it's 1/2 way over (as long as I've seen it before) it doesn't bother me!
So which do you prefer?

Definately a DVD. My mom and I have been collecting the csi season including the ones with criminal minds. We are wanting all the csi's and ncis and house as well. It's just easier to watch them on DVD because you don't get commercial interruption and you get to go back and hit rewind if you miss something or stop it until you can finish watching. You can watch it as much as you want or as little as want to [crysontherocks77]
I would definitely rather watch a movie on DVD than on TV for two reasons. One being that when a movie is on TV - they usually remove some scenes to fit the movie in the time slot that they have. Another one is commercials - I don't like taking "breaks" or what-have-you and waste my time on commercials. Especially if it's a good movie. However, there are movies that I'd rather not waste money on and just wait for it to come out on TV. And then there are those that I have zero interests on - then they come out on TV - and they appear to be good movies. So then I rent them! [khayshenz]
i think i prefer to watch movies on dvd, because i like to watch them together with my family and friends, but it is a fixed time when movies are aired on tv, maybe my friends or my family have no freetime and cant get together. so i prefer to wacth them on dvd..what's more, to my favorite movies, i can wacth them whenever i want easily and convinently...do you think so? I know a lot of people like DVDS for convenience. But I'm weird. I'm the complete opposite. I love just sitting down and seeing what movies are on TV! [Jennlk84]
I too would rather watch a good movie on TV the being bothered with DVDs. I especially love the Lifetime channel. They have really good movies on that channel. I love it when on a Sunday when its bad weather I will get on my couch with a drink and junk food and watch movies on Lifetime all day. Thats the only thing I'm looking forward to with Fall a month away. [lelin1123]
Yes they are the best movies on TV. I miss the Monday night movies that they use to have years ago. Now I'm dating myself. Thank you for the best response nod. [lelin1123]
If I catch a movie half way through on TV that I like then I will often go and buy it on DVD to see the whole movie. I love doing both and sometimes I see a film on TV that I would not have watched otherwise so that is a plus point for TV but on the hole I would rather watch it on a DVD because you don't get all the adverts on a DVD that you get on most TV Channels which can be very annoying. [lakerfanster]
i prefer watch movies on DVD...couse i don't like comercial break, [april_bloom]
I definitely prefer to view films on TV then on DVD. It's like the iPod shuffle, a phenomenon almost. We as humans have a tendency to be attracted to a certain quality of randomness or chaos that entrances us. The DVD is predictable, after all it is you who placed the movie and are fully expectant to watch whatever film you just placed into the player, however a TV movie that is playing is totally up the studio itself and is in no way influenced by you. The factor of control is gone and somewhat "spices" up one's life [jys269]
I liked both. I mostly watch movies on DVD, as I rent them through Netflix, but I also watch at least a few on television a week. I usually will record them and watch them later, so I can skip the commercials. Sometimes I will watch them live when I feel like watching tv and nothing else is on, but usually I am watching stuff I recorded and was not able to catch live. [antarcticpostcards]
i'd like to watch on TV,it has high quality than DVD,we know that beautiful, smooth playback quality is very important for us.intersperseding ads when playing movies is very annoying, but it does allow us to relax.as with DVD movies,i usually use fast-forward,so i will often miss some details, but TV does not. [dream12462]
I'm a dvd collector, I own lots of movies just cause I think its better to have it there to be able to see it when ever we want. BUT when ever we want to see a movie, we can't decide on something to watch. So we will go to the TV and we will start looking at a movie that they have there (even do we have it on dvd and we didn't think of watching before). Half of the time we just forget we have the movie and when we see it on tv we just start watching it. [melissau]
I rather watch movie on TV. Not only because the TV has a wide variety of movies to rent from the on demand section, but because DVD's cost more money. Also, I only am going to need to watch the movie once, I hate re-watching movies unless the move was really, really great. I actually find re-watching movies to be more of a chore than a leisure. TV is better! Don't pay more! [levyx22]
I prefer downloading it directly from torrents and stuffing it into my hard disk..lolxx [aadesh]
Hello Jennlk84, It's just fine with me whether I will watch movie on TV or DVD. For as long as I like the movie/s on TV I'll watch it. I even watch it a lot of times when there is/are replays especially when I love the movie. Though it's a lot better when the movie is on DVD for the sound is really different. Renting on DVD is expensive than on CDs. I only do that if the movie/s that I like to watch is not available on CD. [robert19ph]
I think I prefer a DVD. The reason is I can watch the movie at my convenience, there are no ads, I can rewind if I miss a dialogue, I can pause to read letters. There are many advantages of watching a movie on DVD rather than on TV. But on TV one can view movies one has not heard of before. And on TV we get the edited version. It would not have any adult scenes, or any cussing. So I can watch the movie on TV with my family. On DVD one never knows when a adult scene would pop up and cause me embarrasment. [VANILLAREY]
Although I can't stand ads, and when they cut out bits of a movie, I sorta like watching shows on TV because you can discuss the movie, doco, or whatever with other people who may have watched it. DVD's are good too, but sometimes I get one that hangs during the movie. At least on TV I know I'm going to see the entire show. [DiamondDogs]
it's really different when you're watching a movie from tv than renting a DVD. it's a different excitement when you came across a movie while channel surfing. you get to sit tight and focus because you dont get to watch it your way -- no rewinding, forwarding, pausing or stopping the movie. [thaMARKER]
That's exactly how I feel! [Jennlk84]
I usually watch movies on DVD.Whenever I get bored then i buy a new DVD and watch the DVD. When my father is in home than my father see movies on TV..so i also cooperate with him in watching movies. [tarundrebellian]
I suppose it depends what it is. I have run across some great movies that just happened to be on tv when I was 'channel surfing'. But, on the whole, I think I prefer DVD's - I can stop them when I want to, get up for a drink or whatever, zoom them in, watch a bit again, and keep them to watch later. We are signed up for one of those DVD by mail services and we have four at onetime, so usually we have maybe two movies, one American tv series my husband likes, and an English one for me as I don't get to see tv from 'home' in England. We also have pretty much the most basic package for our tv, so we don't have a huge range to choose from actually on the box! [EnglishTeaDuck]
I prefer on TV essentially for one reason: It's free. These days, at least where I live, there are only constant reruns of old movies, like, time and time again. over the last near dozen years I don't recall going by one single year without the Home Alone trilogy being aired around Christmas time. Also, sometimes the most awful movies are aired... the kind you should really have to go out and buy a DVD because they're so bland, vulgar or just outright poorly done that it's not worth the time slot. There are so many great movies that they could grab and air... but no, same old same old. DVDs of course don't have this downside, you pick what you want to see when you want, but you'll have to pay for it one way or another, for a movie that'll probably just end up airing on TV the week next of you having watched it on DVD. [cmdr001]
i would like to prefer watching movies on DVD because i don't like the breaks between the clips as they divert my mind from the story.. [shareena]
I would definitely chose to watch a movie on DVD because there is a really big difference watching a movie on TV and DVD. In DVD we can control what time we want to start to watch, but in TV there is a time schedule for the show to start. In DVD you can pause for breaks and resume it anytime and anywhere in the scene of the movie, in TV you have to watch the whole thing again or you have to wait for where you left and start watching. That's why I like to watch a movie on a DVD. [marctiu]
If its a complex film, I would prefer DVD. TV is not the best option as there will be lot of advertisements and you tend to momentarily switch to other channels. [tskmjk55]
DVD-because it has the convenience of rewinding if you missed it or you didn't quite understand the scene. You can also forward the movie if you find it boring. Apart from that, there are some scenes that are omitted in the movie if you watched it on TV. In DVD, you can even have the subtitles on for more accurate understanding of each line spoken, especially if there are lines not in English. [underdogy]
I prefer to watch the movies on DVD as it is more convenient. With the DVD's, I can pause the DVD at any time and take a break and I will not miss any parts of the movie. It will also be possible to watch the movies over again whenever I want to. I do not know why, but there is something else about watching movies on TV. If I do not feel like watching the movie on dvd and the movie is going to air on TV, I will definitely watch it on TV. [killer04]
I'd watch movies both on TV and DVD...I have a DVD collection, and I'd have bought special editions or extended versions of my favourites when possible...If I caught one of my favourites on TV while channel hopping,I could well just sit through it again, even though it was sitting on my shelf...although Ad Breaks and TV editing can spoil things somewhat at times..just enjoy the movie You're watching, whatever format it's in!happy [ShepherdSpy]
i love watching it on tv cause sometimes the dvd i buy is not that good quality and sometimes it will have some damage. unlike in television they always have a good copy and the it is very clear when it is shown on tv. and i don't know too why i feel like watching it on tv too than on my own copy. but for those really good movies i love to have a copy also so that i can watch it whenever i want to and i don't have to wait for it to be shown again on tv. [hotsummer]
me.. i prefer to watch movies than tv.. i used to choose educational movies like trojan war or any that talks about history and greek methology.. but it depend on my mood.. [opalian_forever]
I like watching movies on TV too.But some recently released movies can be viewed only in theatres and by purchasing DVD's or downloading movies from the internet.SO I like trying all the options :) [chosen9]
Hello! For some reason I hardly ever watch a dvd and the ones that I do have my finace always ends up selling them on ebay. There are some great movies That I have on my list to get but i never get around to it . I am one for just watching on tv . We have the dish here so it is very easy to find something on that i can watch and they always play them a few days LOL [metschica25]
I prefer watching a movie in a DVD because there is a subtitle. I have problem catching up some words because I am not a pure English speaking person. I understand the basic story of the movie but I love to understant every single word and to really get involved and carried away in a movie so I really prefer a movie that has a subtitle on it. And thanks to DVDs for that. Another thing is that I love watching the making, behind the scenes, comments from the director and staff and even the artists/celebrities who are sharing their experiences in doing the movie. So I guess nothing compares with what a DVD could offer, not even a VCD. [Yori88]
DVD! I like putting on a movie whenever I want and whatever movie I want. No commercials, and if people are talking too much during the movie you can just pause it. [Galolus555]
