Slumdog Millionaire I Enjoyed The Film Did You Enjoy It Too

I just recently saw Slumdog millionaire three days ago on cable, and I really enjoyed the film. in fact I had to watch it agin later that same day, I thought that the film was really fascinating, and it had a really sweet love story in the mitst through all of the tragedy, and I liked that the film had a happy ending, because there seems to be a shortage of good films with happy endings, I felt up lifted at the end to spite the fact that the character Jamal went through so much loss and tragedy I was very happy with the films ending. Did you enjoy this film too, and what was your favorite moment in the film?happy

responses and comments:

Yeah, a good movie by Danny Boyle. i hated the part where salim gets bigger and chases jamal out. I likes the parts when jamal was young, so much tragedy yet so much fun.if you like this movie, i reccommend you watching 'Sunshine' by Danny Boyle. The same director for Slumdog Millionaire [dfgh123456789]
Yes jamal's older brother was soo mean to him, and hated that part too because we know what happened after the door closed it really was unsettling I was like how could his brother do that to him. and yes it had a lot of tragic moments in the film, but at least everything seemed to turn out well in the end.happy [apples99]

Contrary to you, I think it's the most overrated movie last year, did not deserve a Best Picture at all. This movie is a usual story about poverty mixed with love and told in unique way (by playing Who Wants To Be A Millionaire). It's a good movie, but it did not give me a new watching experience like Benjamin Button (who many people thinks overrated but IMO it's splendid in many parts), Wall-E and Dark Knight. [sophisticated_boy]
yeah, I wonder why it takes so long for Bolywood industry to conquer US market. Indian movie industry has been there since decades ago. Even my mom and dad used to watch Indian movies back in 50s and 60s where Hollywood movies are very rare to be found in my country. Well, I'll definitely support the movie if it is good. More power to Asian countries :) [sophisticated_boy]

Actually this Oscar winner movie was being liked by all...i saw the movie on its release date , because of indian associates and my own State's Music Director A.R.Rahman....he made an excellent background and the film had almost indian cine stars..... i liked each and every part of the movie... my favorite scene is Jamal Kissing Latika in the railway station in the climax and telling "you're my destiny" the song "Jai Ho" happy mylotting.. [gunagohan]
Yes that scene was sweet and made me feel uplifted because after all the sad things the character went through it was nice to finally see him with his love If the film had ended any other way I would have been disappointed but thankfully it had a happy ending.happy [apples99]

apples, I like the concept of the movie and the message that it is trying to give out. "You learn most of the things from your life experiences", but I feel that the move getting oscars and all is hyped. Moreover I do not like the way most of Indians have taken the movie as. We should understand that this is not an Indian movie, but a British movie based on Indian theme. I have also written an article about this on my blog if you may want to read it. http://www.the-risingsun.com/?p=26 Let me know what you thing about the article. [AniruS]
yeah, i accept your point..They Both Have Won....it was a complete team effort... i too like danny's movies...i have seen all of his previous movies... [gunagohan]

I would say the story is interesting in its own right. There are elements of a love story, about poverty, about cruelty, humanity and many more. I think it depends on different people's flavor and taste. But one aspect which touches me so much is the element of poverty. It is so sad seeing how families struggle for a living, for education and for survival too. [zed_k4]
oh no!!!!!its not my name.........check it it is 'GOHAN' its Son Gohan of Dragon ball z ... since i am a fan of Son Gohan i add this to my name Guna and its Guna\Gohan.. my friends call me Gohan and some Guna.. i know abt the name Guhan...but Gohan is completely different...a letter 'o' has been replaced .... anyhow which state??? Tamil Nadu??? [gunagohan]

Hi apples99! I saw the movie too and its a very good film. The story is so simple but the film makers were able to present it beautifully that the viewers really understood and enjoyed. Unfortunately, the two child stars in that film did not benefit from the movie's fame. Up to now according to a popular and very reliable asian magazine, these two still lives in a slum area. After the blockbuster Oscar-winning movie, they were promised a house and scholarship but until now they still have no roof over their head. [triplejazzm51]
Awwww yes I heard about the two children and its sad to think that these two adorable children who gave such sweet performances in that film, didnt get what was promised or allegedly promised to them, but I hope that everything works out someday for those children.sadhappy [apples99]

Yes apples I really enjoyed the film. This film became popular when the oscars given them some of the prestiogious awards this year. The setting is very realisitic as well as the storyline. I enjoyed those antics by those childrens. I am just wondering why the girl won the award instead of Jamal? [joy_evaldez]

I enjoyed the film too. I remember the scene where the young dev patel was locked inside the "comfort room" by his brother, so he had to jump into the pool of human wastes just to get a glimpse of his idol. It was gross and funny. [alatecablebill]

When this film started was first shown in the cinema, I can't wait but see it.So i did, the movie was great I loved the character of little boy character. The one from the beginning who wanted to see his favorite actor. It is really funny how he wanted to get out of the so called "comfort room" only to have a photograph of his favorite actor. Well of course the movie is all about love.Really great movie it has given me a lot of lessons. [ybonjoc]

I liked Slumdog millionarie very much. It is not in as usual way of telling the story. The real life story going in front of you. And we should appreciate the kids who acted very nicely. I like the dialogues and the way they expressed. Good direcion. [vijiboopathy]
Like Gandhi in 77 this film has enjoyed the support of the Indian crew.In the process two Indians got Oscars for their efforts. [sailor10]

I watched Slumdog millionaire upto two times till now.i enjoyed the movie very much.i like the concept of a street boy participating in a reality show and winning money and that to the questions are also some what related to the incidents of his life .by gaining money he also gains his love also.it is a very differnt film.what do you say? [lilly_jasmine]

HI, I like this movie too, a good indian film. as you said, it has a good ending. maybe i will watch again in my light schedule. thank you for share with such a good movie. [benjamendeng]

I really liked that film. It was very confusing at first, but then as it went on- I saw how smart it really was. My favorite part of the movie is when that kid fall into the poop hole, and then goes and asks for an autograph XD that was hilarious in my opinion and it made me laugh hard. [jimeny]

I have not seen the movie, but I was glad that it won the Oscar. I get sick of seeing depressing so called 'arty' films winning the Academy Award each year. I am glad a movie with a happy ending won. [AmbiePam]

I did enjoy the film and I love the song at the end! It was a little over hyped in the media - I was expecting it to be amazing from all the fuss, and I thought it was great but not THAT great! But I like a lot of Danny Boyle's stuff - Shallow Grave, 28 Days Later, Strumpet, etc. [EnglishTeaDuck]
I do like horror films. But really the fact that I am a Danny Boyle fan comes from being a long time fan of Christopher Eccleston, I got into Danny Boyle's work because he has worked with CE on a lot of things (like Shallow Grave, 28 Days Later etc) [EnglishTeaDuck]

I LOVED "Slumdog Millionaire"! I couldn't believe all the awards it won earlier this year because I'd never even heard of it, but when I stumbled across it on cable the other night, I was hooked and saw exactly why it won so many awards. apples, you're right, it's rare to see a film with so much pain and tragedy have such a happy ending, but this did the ending in such a way that the only ending could be happy and that made my heart sing and brought tears to my eyes. My favorite part of the movie was when they asked the last question and he had no idea what the answer was so he just guessed and he got it right. As they say... "It could happen." Excellent movie! [artistmel2000]
Actually I had heard of slumdog long before the award ceremony's started, I heard about it through TV advertisements and other shows about upcoming films, and I have to admit I was a bit sceptical about the film, but the those advertisement's still sparked my interest enough to want to see it, but I never got around to seeing it in the theater, but as soon as the film hit cable I decided to finally watch it. Anyway I was pleasantly surprised at how entertaining the film was and how easy the story was to fallow, I didnt even mind the subtitles, because the story spoke for itself, there were a lot of quality's that everyone could relate to in some ways, its just a great film.happy [apples99]

I too enjoyed the film, but not as much so as to see it again and again. Do you think the same thing really happen to those people who participate in Kaun Banega crorepati ? I mean, are they forced to decline from the game? [multitasker]

I saw it once and did not feel like watching the movie again. For me it seemed like the movie was made from cutting pieces from various Hindi and other movie I had seen. So for me it was nothing special. And the relation between the brothers was weird.confused [VANILLAREY]
Well it appears there are many mixed view points I guess, but as far as I can tell there are a lot of people who enjoyed the film, me being one of those people, though I think some might not have liked the way some of the flash back scenes where pieced together, I thought the film and story was put together quite nicely, and when I really like a film I'll watch it more then once. I liked the fact that it was different from some of the films I've seen over the years, its just fascinating to see a young child go through so much and still persevere through such terrible circumstance's it just made me feel good to see Jamal win and reunited with the woman he loved.happy [apples99]

yeah a good movie.. with a different treatment.. i dont think the subject is any new... as we already have seen few movies about the slums in india... but the way they have treated the story is cool .. and the who wana be a millionaire program everything spiced up the movie and also the music especially theback ground scoring was simplay outstanding.. [SQD444]
Yes I agree the music score was fun, and nicely added to the story, and I love a good film score in fact lot of the music own and listen to are from film soundtracks and scores. and I think slumdogs score will be next on my list.happy [apples99]

I thought the movie was well put together with a good script and excellent cast. The challenges the kids face in the slum area and the struggles they had to overcome when they became teenagers were very profound. It was a heartfelt movie, and by the end it leaves you with a good feeling. Nice music. I like the game show host where he shouts: 'Who wants to be a millionaire' and he drags out the word *Millionaire* happy [dasani]
Yes I noticed that host did drag the word Millionaire out lol, and yes the struggles that Jamal and his brother went through made it even more thrilling win Jamal won the contest at the end, the film was great.happy [apples99]

It is a director's film I would say. It is not easy to make a film with a small knot. The director has done a great job. A.R Rehman deserves that two Oscars. His music is also an added advantage for the film. I liked that scene when he asks her to come with him. She says, "How can we live?" he says, " with love". he does not say with money. Though it is not practical it is so touching to see that scene. [vijayanths]
Yes that part, as a female I understood latikas point of view a little, but I felt that she should have left with jamal as soon as a made the request, because she loved him and he was a good person, and that guy she was with was not a nice guy, and she should have broke away from that mean guy right then and there.happy [apples99]

I liked that movie a lot. i thought it was really cool how there were multiple characters to play the characters through different phases of life. :) [megumiart]
Yes me too, and I thought they matched the younger character's so well because they looked a lot like there adult counter parts.happy [apples99]

I did! I rated it 5 star! My children also watched it and they just can't forget Jamal bathing in poops...Ewwww!The story is so great and it's realistic. Jamal is a very passionate individual and with such a pure heart. [gemparado]
rolleyesOh yea that part was sooo gross ewwwww lol. I thought jamal's brother was really mean to him by locking him in that out house, his brother did a lot of mean stuff to him through out the film.happy [apples99]

i actually seen it last night on HBO for the first time and to my surprise i liked it,it was really good and i'd say my favorite part was when he won [lemondrop55]
Of course that part was great too, but one of my favorite part was when Jamal was reunited with latika.happy [apples99]

i have seen slumdog millionarie before it released in india..its a superb movie..hats off to MR A.R.REHMAN for his brilliant effort in the background music and the song "jai ho"..he is irresistably great..and he proved himself by acheiving the honourable oscar award..special thanks to danny boyle for making a movie so great... [thenewwriter]
Yes a very good film in my opinion. and being from the US its nice to see a story about other cultural backgrounds, and such a great story too, I watched it twice.happy [apples99]

I thoroughly enjoyed watching Slumdog Millionaire. I didn't think it would appeal to me but I gave it a go and was pleasantly surprised. The acting was excellent, there was a certain amount of suspense even though we knew he would win the money and that was down to the skill of the directors and actors. All in all it was a simple story well told and the film deserved every award. My favourite part was the ending, it was totally different and having expected a tragic ending it was refreshing to see him end up with the girl. [RedBalloon]

Slumdog Millionaire is a very good movie . Do you know that they almost sweeped the Academy Awards? I'm not very much impressed with the love story though it's kinda predictable. I'm more impressed by how the writer framed the story of Jamal through the questions asked in the show within the movie. Very realistic and yet unpredictable . [yuna15]
Yes I knew about the films award wins, I liked the little love story among other parts I also enjoyed Jamal and his brothers growing up story, though I was saddened by the fact that jamal's mother was killed in the story thats why it was nice that the story ended on a more positive note.happy [apples99]

It keeps coming on HBO, I been meaning to see it, but I will soon probably this weekend. [solared]
You should see it you might enjoy it, I sure did I was surprised at how entertaining it was to watch.happy [apples99]

Happy ending in any movie, makes the viewers happy at last. I have not seen the movie yet, but having the plan to see it soon. but the song, jai ho is an excellent one. i liked the song. [borhan]
Music composed by A R Rahman and the song is by Sukhwinder Singh, i believe. it is really a great one. [borhan]

Hi apples.I loved the movie as well though I watched it last December itself. It was a nice movie showing the reality and story behind people living in slums.Though there have been movies earlier regarding the same topic in Bollywood this one was properly publicized. My favorite part in the movie would be of course the one with young jamal's story..Anyways have a nice day... --coolshamescool-- [Shames]

I enjoyed the film somewhat too. It was very well edited though it could have been better directed especially the scenes of the quiz contest which appear too melodramatic. The child stars acted better, somehow. Freida Pinto hardly appear in many scenes yet she won fame through this movie. Anyway, it was a pretty engrossing movie, nonetheless. [jonjee0203]

i don't remember the time when i watched, maybe two months ago?whatever?i almost forget the plots that i have seen, and i saw a smilarly movie which is named ' the city of god',that's a real story ? [hobegao]
sorry ,i didnt pay attention to the company which has released the movie, but you may search it by google engine or others?those people who lived in slum had a terrible life ,at least i cann't image,i know about them a little just by watching the movies? [hobegao]

Yes, i enjoyed the movie-it really deserves to win an oscar award. i watched it a month ago online. i like the young Jamal-especially the funny scene in the toilet.: ) [onlinetreasures]
Oh the out house bathroom scene was funny and gross all at the same time haha, thanks for responding.happy [apples99]

sadgeesh i wanted to comment on the fact that you've given away a lot of the movie including the end! i was getting it from netflix next just to see why they say its so great. rolleyes anyway gunhgohan or whatever hes called is like getting way carried away with what the whole post was about. i stopped reading after page one. war zone here it seems.whistle [bunnybon7]
blushOh sorry I forgot that there might be some that still havent seen it yet, well if its any constellation you still should get the DVD because you still may enjoy seeing it for your self with the music even though this topic might have given the film a way a little.happy [apples99]

I just saw this movie recently. I usually find that Oscar movies really are not my cup of tea but this one is better than most. It is a nice love story but at the same time It is sad to see that people have to live in such slums. One has to admire the way the two boys were able to survive with out parents. Salim was very brave when he threw the acid into the face of the ring leader. It is sad that salim had to go bad after all they had been threw together [deebomb]

I really enjoyed Slumdog Millionaire. I was a little worried I wouldn't like it as much as everyone said, since I saw it way after it came out and there was a lot of hype, but I was pleasantly surprised when I finally saw it and enjoyed it! [theweerouss]
Yea I had the same feeling of scepticism before I saw the film but like you I was pleasantly surprised too, I thought the film was very good.happy [apples99]

Frankly Speaking,I did Not Like This Movie. [Angelindisguise]

I have not seen this film yet, but I did want to see it when it was first released here. This was even before it won lots of awards and became well known. For some reason, when I first saw the preview of the film it appealed to me. I cannot remember why we did not see it at the time, I think it was not on at the right time for us when we went out, so we saw another movie instead. I will have to make the effort to go and rent the movie so that I can read the rest of this discussion...LOL lol [RawBill1]
LOL yes you should check the film out before you read this post so you can judge and enjoy it for yourself I think you might like the film, well maybe you can let me know.happy [apples99]

Yeah, I love it so much. But unlike you, I'm not contented with the ending. Though it's a happy ending, I am not sure if Jamal really got the prize or Latika has no threat in her life anymore... [joannaleed]
It is just in our imagination and prediction...I really want to see what will the ending be...That's why I am not contented with the ending...Though people view it differently... [joannaleed]

This is truly an interesting movie. I have seen it a couple of times myself, and it is so hard to believe that people are actually treated like this in other countries. Makes me wish I could go rescue all of the children being made to do things like this as well. But overall this movie is very touching and can get a lot of people to think and really realize things like this are continuing around the world everyday. [KrauseHome]
Yes know what you mean I wish I could reached through my TV screen and helped those children in the film, especially on the scene where they lost there mother it was a very sad moment in the film, and I just kept thinking what are they going to do now, but as we saw they had to find there own way.happy [apples99]

Hi, I really like this movie. Its really a encouraging movie for me and it really deserves Oscar. Although its local version Hindi in India is not very good. I only liked its original English version. Regarding poverty, I will say it is prevalent in every country but Danny choose India because of good scenes prevalent in slums in Mumbai, for which video editor also got the award. Yes, it has happy ending which most movie lack nowadays. Actually, life of many peoples just didn't go like a happy ending and producers make more of realistic movie thats why they had left out happy ending strategy. Thanks [directsaurabh]

I watched this movie at school. We watched it with my classmates during our free period. I enjoyed the movie. It's an inspirational movie too. Very nice. [radiance27]

Yes, I have seen the movie quite a number of times and I have throughly enjoyed it. Regarding the Oscar controversy, I do feel that we Indians have this terrible knack of running down our own good things. Please respect the decision of the Oscar committee and applaud the efforts of Indians involved in this movie. The movie is not only enjoyable, but also has a very strong message. 'NEVER GIVE UP' I loved the almost all the scences in the movie and I think the part where young jamal's friend is blinded and where Jamal runs away was captured beautifully. [goodfundadvisor]
The blind boy answered "Benjamin Franklin", am I right? That was really good. And he doesn't envy Jamal, he knows that each person has their luck. I hope Jamal would get him now he's rich and famous. [charmz1005]

I did enjoy it. There are some scenes that I will never forget like when the little boy dove into the sewage just before he met the actor that was his idol. [Canellita]
Yup that scene was really gross but kind of funny too.happy [apples99]

I've just watched the film a couple of hours ago, and one of the Filipinos here said that it's like the same here in the Philippines. I think he's right, there are a lot of crowded places here, and garbage that seems like mountain, but of course that all of the part of the country is like that. Another one is the criminals that uses the children to beg for money, we also have it here and I hate those kind of people. Over all I could say that the movie was a genius because of the way how they relate the story and uses a game show for a twist, the questions were difficult and I was amazed that the last question is about the musketeers which early in the movie was already seen, the story was simple and very realistic, it fits our modern world and gives a lot of values. Two thumbs up. I'm looking forward to watch "Paranormal Activity" which is also like an indie film. [charmz1005]

I absolutely loved Slumdog Millionaire too, and I think it deserved its Best Picture win at the Oscars. Slumdog Millionaire has a one-of-a-king plot which is a hybrid of different genres such as romance, action, suspense and comedy. It is truly one of the most memorable films of the decade. My favorite part in the film was the end when Jamal and Latika were finally reunited. I love how there were flashbacks about their life in that scene, and the fact that Jamal kissed Latika's scar. That was pure love. [hrvillares]

I hate Saleem, he was very rude and cruel since childhood, he makes Jamaal miserable, I'm so happy that thug died in the end. [albertwhisker]
and they can have a comfortable life together. I just hope than they can find a safe place far from those gangs. so they can have a very peaceful life. [albertwhisker]
