tell me a movie that sent you home disappointed after watching it on the big screen?

responses and comments:
i recently watch this movie, lion for lamb. i saw the trailer it was good, plus they have a good cast of actors like tom cruise, robert redford and merryl streep. anyway, i was a bit disappointed with the story plot. but i saw other movies that it seems good on a trailer but a big disappointment when you see it in the big screen. [irenego1]
this only shows that no matter how star studded a film is, it's the story that counts. :) [jdpartosa]
75% of the movies I had seen are all thrash. I just cannot single out the movies which was not worth seeing. I do not remember the name of the movie. It is about jew family, most of the time praying. I virtually slept in the theatre. Because the movie was awfully bad, I had to go for another good movie. [ssh123]
i hardly go to movie houses now. to save me some disappointments. lol! [jdpartosa]
There would be more such Movies - not just 1 . But I recall the Movie :"Yadeein" (Memories) starring now Bollywood Superstar Hrithik Roshan ,Kareena Kapoor, Jackie Shroff and Amrish Puri . We ;a group of around 20/25 people had gone to watch the movie on its first day and had expected a good Movie . Also it was from a succesful director : Subhash Ghai . But we were utterly disappointed. Apart from Jackie Shroff's acting & a few good Songs ; it was a terrible Movie and we felt very bored. Since then,I have only once gone for a First Day Movie Show . [ptrikha1]
i think that too much publicity creates great expectation which creates disappointment. [jdpartosa]
...Zorro... he unmasked in the end. i think that's quite similar to Spiderman where everyone inside the speeding train saw Peter Parker's face. (i still keep my mask JD,-hope not to disappoint my fans :P ) [singlepixel]
who are you? you are the lovely JDpartosa... (you share the same initial with Captain Jack Sparrow!) [singlepixel]
That is a thing I will not be able to recall or remember. I just forget all those movies that have disgusted me. No reason for me to remember them. What I hated most was the "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" that we, all in the family, watched. We never expected it to be as "corny" as it is. lol. [rbnstr08]
too much visual effects could spoil the story. and with horror/thriller films when you've watch the same effects from time and again, it becomes so predictable. [jdpartosa]
I felt Stink when I watched one of the movie Green River but it is really Stinks............... [cherylal]
Green River, hmmm never heard of. thanks for the warning chery. :) [jdpartosa]
One time a friend of mine asked me to accompany them on going to a mall then they'd treat me by watching a movie, so off we go without even complaining or asking what movie we're to watch. So after he got what what he was looking for and paid the item on the counter, we went upstairs to a mall near our place. I was surprised that they'd watch a local comedy film, I think the title was "Mr. Suave" starring Vhong Navarro. I found it corny (cheesy for our foreign friends), I told that I already seen it as an excuse. I'm not really that shallow to watch a film that is not my taste, but in-respect to the person, I didn't told them what I was really feeling that time.. [raijin]
sorry to disappoint VHONG fans here, but i really feel he's CORNY. he definitely has good moves though. and he is way way way better in the dance floor than the big screen. [jdpartosa]
Hi & Hello, jdpartosa. Mine is for Blood Simple. Blood Simple' is a term coined to describe the addled(confused), fearful mindset people are in after a prolonged immersion in violent situations. Because it ended up with no conclusion, seems to have next continuity but until now there is no such Blood Simple II or else. Happy Postings and Earnings, jdpartosa. HAPPY DAPPY. [goodsign]
never heard of. good that there isn't or it might totally immersed mindsets in violence. :) [jdpartosa]
Spiderman 3. We were waiting a long time to see it. My son is really into Spiderman and we were counting the days til we could see it. Well he is six and he couldn't sit through the whole ROMANCE movie. Only about 10 minutes if your lucky of action, the rest is a stupid romance movie. The first two movies ROCKED but this one SUCKED! [vicki2876]
and there were too many villains. and the story was quite predictable already. [jdpartosa]
Oh my! Several years ago.. a friend and i thought we'd go see a movie. The theatre in my town at the time only played two. SO we went in to watch "Stop Or My Mom WIll Shoot" We left partway through. I had never done that before, and neither had he. It was one of those very mutual decisions that didn't even require an exchange of words. We ended up just taking a walking tour through town. AS we walked along the river, I spotted a paradox. I don't know why those docks were there. It was a very odd placement, on non private property and one was lying criss crossed over the other. I remember pointing out the paradox better than I remember the movie. My brain has mercifully blocked it out. [CurlyRed]
stop or my will... ahhh, was this one of Stallone's movie? i heard about it but i didn't see it. good thing you and your friend had a creative way of whiling your time inside the theatre. hehehe! [jdpartosa]
I remember my brother and I went to see Casualties of War with Michael J Fox and it bothered me so much and was very disappointing. I actually got up and walked out of the movie. Lets see, there have been several movies that have really just disappointed me and I couldn't believe that the ending was so awful or the plot was just ridiculous. I can't remember them now because I have driven them from my mind to avoid more aggravation lol! [mamasan34]
it can be called Hysterical amnesia-because you were hysterical with how the movie went, and you wanted to forget it. hehehe, just kidding mamasan. i don't recall movies that i didn't enjoy much either. no use keeping them in my head. :) [jdpartosa]
hi jdpartosa! None actually! hehe.. Most of the time i watch home videos and whenever i watched movies in theatres or movie houses, i really choose them well. LOL! it is because it is very expensive watching in movie houses that is why i am so picky. And all the movie videos or DVDs i watched, i just borrow but i return them on time and good as new. hehe.. take care and have a nice day. :) [faith210]
Oh, jd, after 10 years, i have forgotten that there was a movie like that then. haha... :) Have a nice day. Take care. [faith210]
"The Holiday" (2006) starring Cameron Diaz, Kate Winslet, Jude Law and Jack Black was a disappointment. I expected more with that cast (although I don't care much for Cameron Diaz). The "romantic" aspect of it felt forced. Too much of a "happily-ever-after" movie. Normally I like that if it's done well, but this one wasn't, IMO. [goodnightmoon]
Exactly. Not enough of a reason to watch a movie, but definitely improves a bad one! [goodnightmoon]
Probably the worst movie I've ever seen in the theater was How to Deal with Mandy Moore. I don't really even remember why it was so bad really. Mostly just cheesy and cliche with lots of bad acting. I do remember, however, leaving the theater and wishing I could get my 8 dollars back. My friends and I left talking nonstop about how awful it was and making fun of it for the next few weeks. Til this day we still talk about how horrible it was. [kmdoughert]
sowi for reminding of Mandy's HOW To DEAL, maybe that's what the movie is all about, how to deal with it after watching. lol! [jdpartosa]
The key words are the silver screen. That means I saw it in the theater. The only film that I saw and was disappointed by is Educating Rita.It was a coming of age film and I thought it would be a comedy. [sarahruthbeth22]
Educating Rita is airing on Showtime this month. [sarahruthbeth22]
hi jd, I was disappointed seeing Saawariya, it didnt prove to be recaching till my expectations and i it wasnt worth the money spent by me. [sang2k2]
hi sank2k2! well, just be more careful with the movies you watch. :) [jdpartosa]
One for all: Transformers. Its not like i had high hoped and got disappointed. I thought i was going to dislike it, but i would have never thought that i'd actually hate that movie so much. It's absolutely disgusting if you ask me. [Postrock]
i say yes to that. i watched it on DVD, didn't even finish it. (sowi transformer fans) [jdpartosa]
I would have to say that it was the movie Baby Geniuses. It was not very appealing to see babies being evaluated and raised in a research institute. I just did not like it from start to finish. [Rozie37]
I believe they did say that in the movie, as a matter of fact. Baby's day out. Was that the one where the rich kid got lost and then they went crazy looking for the book that he called his boo boo. That was funny, but a little annoying. [Rozie37]
this is a secret jd, okay?? ^__^ i went home disappointed after watching Hitman. but not really disappointed. i loved the action and the story is nice. i was disappointed with the choice of actor who played the lead role. i think he wasn't fit to be play an assassin. he looked so gay there! LOL (i hope my friend don't read this. sya naglibre saken when we watched this movie. LOL he loved the Hitman computer game.) [secretbear]
LOL you're right. i would have super disappointed if i paid for it. gosh. i think they made a mistake in casting! and the way they portray an assassin is so... unreal. assassins usually don't know how to smile di ba.. they can only make lines on their forehead and wrinkle their brows. and they don't exchange lots of words with females!!! gravah. ^__^;; [secretbear]
I rarely watch movies on theaters, but I guess of all the movies that I watched, the one that bored me the most was Alexander. The story is fine, but I dont know...I ended up sleeping in the theater hahaha! :D (I think it was because I watched too many action movies) [JowJie]
but isn't alexander an action movie? i see, your used to modern day action packed films. :D [jdpartosa]
Hello! Last time I was there in Philippines, me with my bro and cousins went to the mall to watch the movie 300..supposedly. Unfortunately it wasn't showing yet...so we ended up watching The Epic Movie..it was crap! it wasn't funny at all...no way to be hilarious..it nearly put me to sleep..lol! okay I overdid that one...hehehehe. It was a stinker for me. Take care *smile* ciao! c",) [fab315]
if you'll see it the second time you'll sure put yourself to sleep apo! of course i doubt if you'll watch it AGAIN. hahaha! [jdpartosa]
hi again jd. I was quite disappointed with the movie, Resident Evil. The latest movie that was shown a month ago. I was actually waiting for this latest part of the series to be made, and when I finally learned that it was being shown at cinemas, I couldn't wait to see it. My expectations of that movie was at the highest level because from the mere title of the movie, Resident Evil, The Extinction. You would think that there are much more excitement and suspense scenes. But at the end of the movie, I was a bit disappointed. I wouldn't deny that it was still great, but I didn't expect that it would just end that way. The villain that I thought was super hard to kill, was killed by his own actions. And I thought, there was a great battle between the heroine and the villain. Anyway, I think there will be another part to this movie. Hopefully, it will deliver more. [jcj_111776]
in real life the real heroes are crumpled and misunderstood. but it's just too much in the movie, OA na. hhahaha! [jdpartosa]
I was really disappointed with the movie "Spaceballs" I know that is going back a bit.But it really stank. I expected more from the director of Blazing Saddles. [ersmommy1]
I haven't done any TV to big screen movies, but book to movie is often so totally different! MAJOR case in point - Gone With The Wind. Almost like 2 different stories! In the book Scarlett had a child with each man she was married to and I belive it was 2 with Rhett not counting hte one that died when she fell down the stairs. (been awhile since I read it), and was so dissapointed in it being so different from the movie it was hard to even know it was supposed to be the same story! I loved the movie but the book was very volatile and I just didn't enjoy it as much. The hearfelt stuff wasn't there, at least for me. I loved the mini series All The Rivers Run about life on the river cargo boats in Australia. Loved the series! Got the book and so much was so different, like in the movie her husband was able to walk again after the accident, but in the book, he never did and they had several kids (only one in the series). And again, the hearfelt stuff was just not there in the book as much as in the mini series. Was interesting tho that the last few pages of the book had her grand daughter take her to the sea coast - not sure if it was in America or Austrailia, but she had arthritis so bad she could hardly walk but she did... to the sea and that is when she mentinoed to the GD when they were talking about wahtever it was they were takling about she said "because all the rivers run into the sea". And then she died. The only tear jerker in the book! But a really happy ending in the movie! [coffeebreak]
Sometimes, screenwriters have to combine or eliminate characters, only choose the main plot points, etc in order to make a film that can stand on its own, makes sense without reading the book(s), has a beginning, middle, and end and doesn't go on for days. I think with "Gone with the Wind," the writers and directors felt that the relationship with Rhett was one of the driving forces of the book and story so they left out the other children, etc. [houndsgood]
"texas chainsaw massacre", the criminal is not yet known. maybe because the movie is still doing a second part. but i like to watch suspense-thriller movies. [ahyz_thea]
Think they'll drag it out into oblivion like they did the Halloween and Elm Street ones? How much blood, guts and gore can people stand! [coffeebreak]
My husband and I walked out of American Pie and saw another film instead. Maybe it wasn't for our demographic (and we are not old!) or maybe it just is not as good as people make it out to be. The movie that I sat through that I was disappointed in was Prince of Tides. I remember going to see it with my mom and I was in the worst mood when I left the theater (very irritable and joyless). What a depressing, joyless film that is. It would suck the life out of anyone. I am not saying its a poorly crafted film - just such a downer why would anyone want to ever watch it. And it wasn't "very sad, but thought provoking, but very excellent." either. [houndsgood]
We got a baby sitter awhile back to go to the drive in movie theater. It was our first time and we were excited. We went and saw Dragon Wars. Um...that was a really dumb movie. We went home discussing how awful it was and how we wished we would have done something different while we had a sitter! [aidenofthetower]
actually the list is endless.. :) Regards Harry [miracleworld]
