They Wouldnt Let Grandpa Bob In The Movies

Well I ordered my ticket for The Dark Knight. Had the confirmation numer etc and went to the theatre for the 7 p.m. show that the ticket was for. As I pulled into the parking lot it was empty for the most part. Seems there was a major power outage and therefore the theatre was closed. After a lot of banging on the doors and a few calls unanswered the manager finally came to the door. I had a ticket for today only and it was closed. They gave me a free pass for any movie at anytime in the future. Have you ever gone to the movies and it was closed due to a power outage? I did go elsewhere to see a different movie. More on that in another discussion. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

We are waiting until it comes out on the Dvd and getting it then. We do have a free pass for a birthday movie, but my husband's birthday is not until October so it will not be available then. Rats! There was no power outage here, and I do know that there was some a while ago, but we were not going to see a move anyway. [suspenseful]
I do not know if the DVD release will be in 3-d though. It would lose a lot if it isn't. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~ [webeishere]

I'm glad they compensated you for being closed today. It sure wasn't your fault. I have gone to the movies and it was closed before. It was a holiday though. I wasn't out any money though because I planned to purchase my ticket when I got in there. I'm glad you got to see a different movie though. At least it wasn't a total loss for you. [stephcjh]
I would be teed off too. I'm glad that it all worked out in your favor in the long run though. I am happy that they were nice to you too. they better be because you are a very nice person. It is hard to find kindness in alot of people these days. I am glad to say that you are though. [stephcjh]

Hi dear not a good incident so power outage is problenm there as well, i thought its onlu problem in Developing countrirs like Pakistan However i am not in to moviers so it never happened to me, but its goo that u end up having free pass Take care [cupid74]

Grandpa! My answer is nops .... because here we have much electric power loadshedding for last year. Many of the inhabitants of our locality have their own power house generator lol. Yes, I used to go for theater but it is most of the times drama being staged live. [aliasad]

No that has never happened to me GB. Oh well at least you got another ticket.Hope you enjoy it when you finally get to see it ! Happy Saturday to ya happy [LoudnProud]

Hey there Grandpa Bob I am sorry this happened to you I prefer to stay at home and watch movies there the last time I went to the Cinema was 28 years ago lol and never since I just prefer to sit in my own comfort and watch them there [gabs8513]

I am so sorry to hear what happened Grandpa Bob. I am not fond of watching movies in the theater. I prefer watching at home, with the kids and my honey. Movie theater is a bit expensive here and if we all go out for the movie, it will mean a lot of money for me. Thanks Grandpa and better luck next. KEEP SMILING => NEIL [neildc]

Hi GB! I'm sorry to hear you didn't get to see the movie. I've never been to the movies and it was closed for any reason. There's two cinemas on my island, and they have different movie theaters, and they both have generators. [dragonfly242]

Sorry to say grandpa but i haven;t encountered this situation. Because I am watching the cinema's inside the mall's. And through it, I can watch movies with no interruption. Because all the malls have there backup power. [hindichinese]

It hasn't happened to me, but something similar did happen to my sister. They were about halfway though the movie and the fire alarm went off. They had to evacuate the movies and found out it was a hoax. They wouldn't let everyone back in to finish watching the movie though because they had to keep on schedule for the next showing. They gave her a free pass, but she didn't see the end of the movie until it came out on HBO. [reinydawn]

No, never experienced that. But we did get free tickets when we took the kids to a G rated movie and they accidentally showed R previews! [dragon54u]

At least they are not going to penalize you for not being able to see it. I go to the movies once in a blue moon. It has to be something i REALLY want to see before i put myself through the misery of sitting in one place for that long at one time. [cjgrooms]

I bet you were disappointed! I hear that Dark Knight is great. I can't wait to see it! I'm glad you got a free ticket. That is awesome! [kareng]

Hello Grandpa Bob :) I've never experienced a power outage like that at a theater -- not to the point where it was closed. I have been watching a movie when the power goes out and then resumes. When Titanic first came out we went to see it. About 20 minutes into the movie it stopped and we were told that there were technical difficulties and that was the end of the movie for us. They offered free passes to everyone for another movie at that theater, but we had been visiting and our home was about 200 miles away so they reluctantly refuned our money. [Transdisc]

I never had that happen, but I was temporarily refused admittance to a movie once because I was under aged (a very long time ago). I talked the manager of the theater into letting me in by having him call my dad and ask permission, who was really our bartender pretending to be my dad. The movie was Easy Rider, and I was there with my brother and a bunch of friends. We all got to go in to see the movie, and had a great time. [KarenO52]

OH how sad for you Grandpa Bob. It did seem like you were really looking forward to going to the movies to see The Dark Knight. With the free pass will you be able to go and see this movie? [tyc415]

Oh man, that just has to suck! I can honestly say that that ha never happened to me but I have waiting on line for a ticket only to be told that it was sold out. I hate when that happens! I would have banged on the door too if I had a ticket and they wouldn't let me in because I would want them to either reinburse me or something. I'm glad that they helped you out in that department! [MrsFairWells]

No that has never happened to me, whenever I have gone to the pictures I have been able to get in. I also have never pre-ordered a ticket. It is good of them to give you a free day pass for any movie. Based on your title, I thought they would not let you in so you had wasted your money and was going to complain or something. [Elixiress]

No, i've never had that problem before! I guess we don't get too many power cuts around here. I hope you enjoyed the other movie you went to see, was was it? Also hope you enjoy seeing the film you wanted to see on another night. [hezoid]

Nope I have never gone to the movies and they were closed due to a power outage. That is great that they gave you a free pass to another movie. Would have been nice if they would hve come to the door sooner then they did. [LouiseKnittel]

Well that's never happened to me, Grandpa Bob. That's a shame, I hope you get to see The Dark Knight soon. Now I'll go read about the movie you did see... [awonderfullife]

Wow that was interesting. I can safely say that has never happened to me before. Now that I said that know on wood I am going to go the movies and it will happen to me. So how was the Dark Knight? Any good because I want to go and see it. [tigger44]

I do not understand why they did not put a sign on the door for all the people who would come. I am glad you persisted, since you had your free ticket from Winster. [GardenGerty]

Hi webeishere, Many years ago I had two tickets for me and my friend to see Cliff Richard at Bromley Theatre and we got there we coouln't believe our eyes, it was burnt down, cause by electrical fault, so we complained to the agency that we bought the tickes from and they told us that the show was been shown in London U.K. We got the tickets so we went that week,I just was so surprised we were sitting amongs all the top tv ans films stars it was the first showing just for the celebraty and we were there. How about that for a bit of luck rubbing shoulder with the stars at the interval. Tamara [tamarafireheart]

That is the first time that I have heard of the movie theatre having a power outage. At least they did give you a free movie pass. Now if you didn't get that pass and you came back the next day. They would have not honored that pass that you had for that day they were closed cause of the outage. Good thing that you kept banging on the door til you got an answer. Have a good one. [twallace]

Thats sad about the power outage but it has never happened to me..and hope you get to see it soon..I still haven't gone and want to very much..now i guess i wasn't aware it was in 3-D..now i really want to go! thanks and huggs [Rosekitty]

hi Grandpa Bor too bad about the Dark Night maybe you can see it another time lol. I remember one time we were in Santa Ana at an old theater that was either going to be remodeled or torn down, because we wanted to see that particular movie. okay we get our tickets, and we start to find a seat, and I suggested to my huband that we go up in the balcony. He vetoed that as he thought they did not look too safe.I thought he was being an old fuddy duddy. turns out I was wrong. The movie had just started and all of a sudden there was aloud screeching noise followed by screams and people around behind us moving out of' their seats. that whole balcony had given way but thankfully there were only ten people who had gone up there. All ten were injured but most were not life threating, mostly bruises, broken bones and one or two with heart problems. we did not getour ticket badk as they closed that theater down com;pletely after that. [Hatley]
ohmy gosh sorry it supposed to be Grandpa Bob not Bor you are never a bore.lol. my and my typos!! [Hatley]

I am glad they gave you a pass to see another movie another day but I am sorry you didn't get to see the movie that you went to see in the first place. I have never went to a movie and had it not shown that would not be nice. [luvstochat]

That must have not been fun Grandpa Bob. I never went and find out that the movie is closed. But once when I was in the movie, the power was out in the middle of the movie for about 5 minutes. It's not a long time but it was quite annoying. Happy mylotting and have a nice day!! [ucancallmedissy]

Oh, what a shame! I'd be pretty upset if this happened, as I only go to the movies about once a year. My Mum and I look forward to our yearly outing, and choose our movie carefully - so it would be pretty disappointing if we showed up and there was a power cut! A pity you missed The Dark Knight, too - from all accounts, it was a brilliant movie! [guybrush]

Never- that stinks. So does that mean you can go watch The Dark night anytime? I hear they are selling out everywhere unless you get an advanced ticket. I don't buy too many advanced tickets- but I have never been to the movies and had it be closed. [KrisNY]

No this has not happened to me. I would have done esxcally what you did. [teapotmommommerced]

Wow!! This would be frustrating for sure. Especially with a movie like this. I do not blame you for feeling Frustrated for sure. Hope you can go see this movie, and let us all know what you thought. I know I want to see it, but will probably wait until it comes to DVD to do so. [KrauseHome]

it never happened to me but if it did i will be totally pissed off and wouldn't want to see another movie..i'll rather ask a pass on the same movie some other day when its available..i wouldn't enjoy the other movie anyway as i'm pissed.. [angel_of_charm]

wowie. i wish i was in your place . wow isnt that like great .now you can go at anytime you want. But do watch the movie. Dark knight !! its one amazingmovie. too good action. and the best is heath ledger's acting. he is amazing , i think the best joker around ever.No one else could habe pulled off the stunt how he id it with his acting. i mean its just too amazing.Do watch it though. and enjoy your free ticket too .
