Watching Reruns.....do You Still Cry Or Laugh In The Same Places After Seeing

it more then once....how about after 10 times? I watched Overboard with Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell this afternoon.....I still cried and laughed at about the same time as I did the first time I saw it.....especially the end when he goes and gets her! Sometimes though I do find something I missed in watching it over and over again...so when you watch a movie..do you still cry or laugh at the same scenes as you did the first couple of times you watched it or are you prepared for the scene and it doesn't affect you any more?

Yes. I still cry when Mofasa died to rescue Simba in Lion King. [Graceekwenx]
AH......so touching! [jillhill]

I have two instances that really stand out in my mind about terrible things that became funny the more I watched the movie. The first example is from Titanic. When the ship is breaking apart and sinking there's a man that falls and lands on the prop of the boat. The first time I saw it, it literally made me hurt for the guy. By the third time I was saying, "watch this! watch this! this dude totally hits the propeller!" lol. The other example is from the movie My Girl. You know the plot...SPOILER ALERT...little boy and little girl are best buddies. Little boy gets attacked by bees and is allergic and dies. The first time I saw it I bawled my eyes out! I didn't think I would ever stop crying, but after two or three times my friends and I were making fun of the bees attacking the little boy. We laughed about how he flailed around trying to get the bees off. We were terrible and had sick senses of humor. [MissAmie]
Well we all look at things differently me thinks! [jillhill]

As silly as that movie is, I watch again every time it's on television. Maybe it's the chemistry between the two stars. Another movie I watch over and over is "When Harry Met Sally." And, yes, I do laugh and cry at the same spots every time. [maryihla]
I think that is part of it....the chemistry! [jillhill]

I love that movie!! I have seen it probably at least 20 times over the years. I still get choked up in certain spots and laugh in others as well. I love movies like that. The ones you can watch over and over again. [lilybug]

I do, I watched the Merlin series and I always enjoy it. I also watched The Sound of Music, Star Wars, The Notebook and I always enjoy them every time I had re-watched them. These are very good movies that one could watch over and over and still discover new things and be entertained to the max. Happy mylotting and all the best. happy happyhappy [Jenaisle]

I don't normally watch anything over. [ANTIQUELADY]
Good morning, once i have seen them i just don't like to watch them again. i had rather watch news things that i don't know how they are going to end. I am the same way about books, don't like to re-read them either. Thanks for your comment.Happy days to u. [ANTIQUELADY]

I will watch Dirty Dancing over and over again. Love to watch the dancing so no time to really laugh or cry. I find it amazing that a man like Patrick Swayze can dance. He's terrific. I do watch the Golden Girls over and over and over again and still laugh my tush off. They were just hysterical. [carolbee]
I also love Dirty DAncing!!!!!! ANd Pretty Woman! I can watch those over and over again! [jillhill]

Hi jillhill, you probably won't be familiar with this TV show as it's an English one but we watch it on Youtube. It's 'The Apprentic UK' which is totally hilarious. There was a scene a few years ago which I believe was labelled the funniest moment ever on UK TV and sometimes my son will ask me to find it and play it again, and again, and I must say each time we are on the floor laughing. It really is worth looking up on Youtube and can probably be found under funniest moment ever of 'Simon and the Trampoline'. It has to be seen to be believed.lol [thea09]
I'll have to take time to see it! Sounds great! [jillhill]

There is a commercial that has been running for 2 months or more, that still gets me. I guess that depends on how well it was done. [General_Spacey]
Right on both counts! [jillhill]

Some movies I wouldn't cry at the same time, laugh yes. Some movies just get to me and i still cry!! Its not a mive, but the Michael Jackson Man In The Mirror video gets me teary eyed every time. It is just so sad! I also cry during The Lion King!! [erikmama]
I know what you mean....I have a copy of Elvis's last concert in Hawaii....and I jsut bawl when he sings certain songs....after he died it's even worse when I watch it! I bet the same is true for you watching the man in the mirror video! [jillhill]

I will be affected, but never cry. The pain for growing, i first see it in my childhood, it gave me happy and affection, now i am graduated from college, i also affected with this TV PLAY. [eyesighting]
I see......and understand. [jillhill]

Depends on how good the movie is. I rank a movie's "greatness" on its ability to still evoke emotions in me after multiple watchings. For example, My Girl still makes me cry every single time I watch it. The Princess Bride never fails to make me smile. And The Lord of the Rings still makes me go "Whoa...awesome" everytime I watch it again and again and again and again. I think it's easier for a movie to make you laugh over and over again, even if you already know the jokes, because it's all about delivery. I think a movie is truly great if it can make you cry every single time you watch it. [elenyae]
I think you are right! [jillhill]

For me it depends on how many times I have watched it and how well I remember the scenes, the jokes and the dialogues. If I don't remember much about the movie then I am likely to be laughing or feeling sad. I don't think I have watched the whole movie ten times or more. [VANILLAREY]
ah......it is a matter of what stick in your mind. [jillhill]

yes in a few times i may still laugh and cry on those sames scences. but after so many repeat i feel like it is just so predictable and the emotions that i felt as i watched them on the first few times will not be there any more. and the movie may not be as funny or as moving as i thought it would be. it would look like a movie. i would see them as actors and just another movie and i don't feel them like they reflect reality or reality itself as i watch them. [hotsummer]

Lol yes I do and I really do not know why I watch it again when I know I am going to cry There is one Film and I have not seen it in years but watched it several and it is called 'Champ' it got to the stage that I started crying and sobbing at the bit where I do before it even came on lol because I knew it was going to happen A couple of years back my Son was going through the Chanels and he got to a Chanel and the Film was just ending there I straight away burst into Tears, both my Children where laughing at me lol [gabs8513]
We are kinda silly? [jillhill]

yessss, i still cry and laugh at the same scenes! haha i remember very well that i cried/laughed at that scene before, but once that scene plays on, i suddenly forget how it felt the first time watching it, so tears/laughters still come out. hehe :) [alexaeluna]

When we watch tv shows or movies over and over again, we know all of the parts that touch us the most. Maybe that's why we still cry at every heartwrenching moment and laugh at the silliness. Even though we watch shows repeatedly, we can still find something we missed the time before. Some shows aren't worth the second preview. yet there are others that can be enjoyed endlessly. [sender621]
That's for sure...some are not worth watching once! LOL [jillhill]

Yea I do. Sometimes I watch the reruns just to see the funny part. I laugh like 5 times or so. Maybe not 10. When I watch it the second time, some parts are not funny and some parts still are. [lala501]

I don't watch too many movie reruns unless they are in my top favorite movies of all times, then I may watch them when they come on every year. I have always loved "White Christmas" with Bing Crosby, and always cried at the end of the movie. Now when it's on , I only tune in at the end to see the dramatic ending, because I am bored watching the whole darn thing again...lol. Some movies are worth watching several times, but after 4-5 times, the effect is no longer there. [Sweetchariot]
White Christmas is also one of my favs...and I watch it every year! [jillhill]

The one movie that stands out for me is Gladiator. I love watching this movie over and over, especially the scene where they just finish their fight and Ceasar wants to meet them. He goes down to the arena and Russell Crowes character Maximus won't take off his mask. The score in the background helps this climactic scene as it builds to him finally removing his mask and saying, "My name is Maximus Decimus Meridius, commander of the Armies of the North, General of the Felix Legions, loyal servant to the true emperor, Marcus Aurelius. Father to a murdered son, husband to a murdered wife. And I will have my vengeance, in this life or the next." I still get all fired up even know I know it's coming. Generally when I watch a movie or even a TV show over and over I pick-up on things I missed the first time and even second and so on. And I'd say the things that I thought were funny are still just as funny. Sad moments sometimes lose their feeling, just because you know they're coming. I mean, how many times can you watch someone die and still feel bad for them? Maybe it's just me. [_soonernation_]
I agree....when you know it's coming sometimes the value of the moment gets lost over time. [jillhill]

There are some shows and movies that still make me cry or laugh at the same place in the movie that I have before. I too do the same with Overboard! lol I really like that movie. Dirty Dancing makes me cry in certain parts. I think it will always affect me watching certain movies. I can be such a softy! [Ithink]

The saying goes "ya blink and ya miss it", well that is so true with many movies. I am one that can watch a movie a 100 times and still laugh, cry and roll my eyes at that same old thing. [ElusiveButterfly]

I did have the same feelings when I watch the movie, Stepmom for the second time. I cried at the ending when Jackie (Susan Sarandon) knows that she's dying and then accept Isabel (Julia Roberts) as the stepmom of her two childrens. As for comedy, there are some that I still laugh out loud when I watch it the second time, such as Mrs Doubtfire, Big Momma House and Dr Doolittle. But there also some comedy that I'll find lame when watching it for the second time, such as What Women Wants, 40 Years Old Virgin and The Full Monty. [dknkyle]

I love watching re runs of the Indiana Jones films.I find them just as funny as ever and always wait for the good bits that are exciting. You are right the more you watch a film the more you see.Back to the Future films well we have them on video thats how long we have had them.Love it at christmas if one comes on .The person who wrote those did the last one first but realeased them the other way round,it is so clever how they did it ,and I always enjoy seeing them again. [suzzy3]
That was clever! I didn't know that! [jillhill]

HaHa, are you kidding? I still cry when the little tiny "Who's" in Whoville from the Grinch all start singing in the end, and the Grinch turns out to be a good guy, hahaha! I don't like sad movies at all but sometimes my friends will recommend seeing a movie and lo and behold, there's a really sad part and I hate it. The movies are great and well done, I'm just not one for sitting and crying because it just makes me TOO sad, if you know what I mean. I remember watching My Girl like some of your responses were mentioning and thought I was gonna die. sad [Kashmeresmycat]
That was too sad! [jillhill]

I sure laugh and cry in many of the same places each time I view a movie. Its easy to find something new in a movie; specially, if the movie is really long. I think sometimes by seeing a movie with friends I'll see certain things and they will be different than viewing alone. [Fishmomma]

Hi jill. For the most part, I do. Though it may not be so surprising as it was the first time around. LOL I've done this with a few movies and a few TV programs too! Even though I know what to expect I may still laugh, cry, or at the very least get choked up on a certain scene, depending on how many times I've seen it already. It also depends on my mood as well. For example if I'm feeling kind of sappy while I'm watching something I'm more inclined to feel more emotional towards that movie or show. Go figure! LOL Happy mylotting! [sacmom]

YesI Do . With the comedies I love I start laughing Before the funny part has even aired. I do like to watch re runs of shows from long past like Taxi. I saw every episode when it first aired but that was a long time ago, so seeing taxi now is like seeing it for the first time. [sarahruthbeth22]
