What Heavily Hyped Movie By Critics And Friends, Did U Not Like, Or Didnt See

Now when I mean heavily hyped movie, I mean a big one. For instance, I have never seen 'Titanic.' Almost everyone I know, including my mother who had to be persuaded by my sister, saw 'Titanic.' I didn't and don't want to. As for a heavily praised movie I saw and didn't like - that would be 'Dances with Wolves.' I didn't see it in a theater, but on the TV, and I kept hoping it would end. My dad was transfixed, but I however, was completely bored. What about you?

I have never seen 'Passion Of The Christ'.My mom wanted to see it but before she could she passed away. Therefore even though I would like to see it I just can't do it.As for 'Dances With Wolves'.I was not so impressed either.I also did not like 'Braveheart'.Maybe because I was tired and the movie was so long. [cipher2004]
We all have different opinions. Sometimes some stories mean more to people than others, depending on what the situation in the movie means to them personally. The buzz I've heard on 'The Nativity Story' hasn't been 'all that'. I don't think it was going to wow very many people. [AmbiePam]

I'm proud to say that I've never seen a Diehard movie. I don't like Bruce Willis and never planned on seeing any of the Diehards. I love action adventure movies, but these never did anything for me. [foogirl]
Nice play on words! Two thumbs up. : ) [AmbiePam]

We saw 40 days and 40 nights which was about a young mans self enforced celibacy and was actually very silly and rather boring. It was more the sort of film a teeage girl might go and see because she fancied the actors and was just a complete waste of time for anyone else. [mihimolly]

Oh my gosh, I hated the movie Scarface with Al Pacino http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0086250/. It was too heavy on violence and too lacking in story and character development. I thought it was stupid. [lilibetha]
Yeah, you always hear people, including a whole lot of men, rave about it. Some actors will say it is what got them into acting. LOL I haven't seen it and don't want to. [AmbiePam]

There are a few of these for me actually. One is "Gladiator". I have yet to see it because I got so tired of everyone trying to shove it down my throat. Three movies come right to mind though among ones that were hyped up and I thought were ok but not worth all the talking everyone did about them. One is "Forrest Gump". Cute movie but it was not that great of a movie in my opinion. Another is "Castaway". I couldn't even get through it. I was that bored with it. The other is "The Matrix". It was a decent movie. Storyline was ok but it was not the absolute greatest film of the century which is how some people seemed to act with it. [emeraldisle]
That's about it with Castaway. At least from what I saw of it. I did think of another though "The Godfather" series. It's ok but I just don't find it that great of a series. I know many love it to the extreme but for me it's something I tolerate while the others watch it. [emeraldisle]

"Passion of the Christ" ranks up there with "Amistad". No thanks, too much gore. If you looked at my interests for movies you would think I was confused. Almost every movie on my list is a "blood-n-guts" movie, but there is a serious difference between Jason disemboweling someone and Christ being strung up. The Lord did not see fit to have me present for the original ordeal, I don't think He meant for me to be there to see it on the big screen. These are not the only movies, either. Alot of people are surprised at how many "good" movies I have purposely skipped. I don't like sappy love story drama. I am also not big on sequels. Like "Ghostbusters", they should have never made a sequel. I also need to add "Pulp Fiction", "Scarface", "Doom", and all of the "Godfather" movies. [jessigirl116]
The blood and guts in horror is one thing. My 10-year-old daughter loves scary, bloody movies. But, on the other hand, movies like "Passion" are not for her. I won't let her watch "Exorcist" either. There are just some things in movies that are unnecessary. She prefers senseless violence anyway. I keep everything that has heavy drug use and anything more than an obligatory "boob shot" out of her reach. We preview everything before she gets to see it. She can watch any of the "Saw" movies, but not "Hostel". Go figure. [jessigirl116]

I didn't saw the movie 'Collateral' by, Tom Cruise and Jamie Fox. I don't know, maybe I just don't like those two actors!;)LoL I'm not a fan of those two, and I think the only thing that makes them popular is because they are having more media-mileage. The movie that made me bored by watching it was, 'Ocean's Eleven'. I did not like the plot, their story was very obvious and the way they planned the heist can also be done in any other movies. [raijin]
Raijin-- I never played 8, but the "Tonberry" is what reminded me of why I know that character. It is a character on FF Tactics but not for Playstation, it's for the Game Boy Advanced. I have a copy of both. Thanks for the reminder. [jessigirl116]

I actually really like 'Titanic'. It's one of my favorites. But anyway, I haven't seen 'Passion of the Christ'. And the last movie I went to see in theater was with my friend, and it was 'Epic Movie'. It's not a famous or a classic or anything, but in this area it was hyped up and talked about all the time by friends and such. I thought it would be funny but it wasn't really, it was sort of a waste. There maybe only two or three funny lines in the whole thing, and it's supposed to be a comedy, a spoof. But really it's not that great. I actually haven't seen a lot of things, I guess, but that's just the few I can think of off the bat. [taymouse]
Most people who have seen Titanic, that I know, tell me it's a great movie. I just don't want to see it. Maybe it's because I know he dies in the end. [AmbiePam]

"Brokeback Mountain" is the movie I have not seen and do not want to see. I don't care if the acting is good. I don't care if the story is good. I don't want to see a movie about a homosexual relationship. I didn't even like the "Night Listener" with Robin Williams because I didn't know that it involved homosexuals. Some movies I will not watch and I don't miss watching them either. [elkhawk]
I forgot about 'Brokeback Mountain.' I've not seen it and I don't ever plan to. No one I know has seen it either. [AmbiePam]

I finally watched Titanic on television last year. Still haven't seen Dances with Wolves. The only movie I actually went to the theatre to see was the Matrix. I'm not a big movie watcher, but I do like renting PPV and watching movies late at night on the DVR. [MichelleLDevon]

Must be a theme, I never saw "Passion" either. I admit I was not much of a fan of Titanic. There were parts of the movie that were spectacular but that insipid and absolutely unbelievable love story pretty much ruined it for me. [milesalpha]

This one goes back a long way...I didn't care for Gone With the Wind. I loved Clark Gable, of course, but the story frustrated me with the back and forth, hit and miss between Scarlett and Rhett. Not to mention the ending was no ending...it just quit in the middle. I haven't and don't intend to see any of the "Hannibal" movies, including "Silence of the Lambs". I don't like those kinds of movies. [susieq223]
I have seen Gone with the Wind. I like to watch it once a decade. It takes about that long to see! : ) I have never seen Silence of the Lambs or the subsequent sequels and prequels. I'm just not into gore. [AmbiePam]

I didnt really like Dances with Wolves either *L* ;) Okay I'd have to say the movies I dont like are Harry Potter. Now dont go and get upset or anything! I tried to read the first book and saw the first few minutes of the first movie. I found that they just dont interest me. Has NOTHING to do with being a christian. I know PLENTY of christians who like the movies and books. Its just NOT for me. So no I dont really like the Harry Potter books OR movies sorry! :)) Titantic is kinda graphic for a PG-13 movie. Several minutes featuring the top naked part of "Rose" plus a scene in a car. I know it was the 90's but come on! We used to tease my dad would be watching that scene and pause it and the vcr breaking. Plus its totally sad. If you are up for that kind. If you dont know, Jack aka Leonardo DeCaprio dies at the end. Very sad. That song sung WAY TOO MUCH on the radio is heart breaking. It makes me want to cry! If nothing else, the movie is TRUE. Not the events but the event and that makes it hard to see. I am sad when I know a movie was true. Another one is "The Perfect Storm" cause you go in there and its one thing to say OH THAT IS SAD! Another to say IT REALLY HAPPENED! :(( Yeah I can watch sad stuff but sometimes it gets to me really bad! :(( [monkeywriter]
Yes, that is an issue with me. When it is a true story and it doesn't have a happy ending, because you know the ending really was bad, it is kind of depressing - for some people, and I am one of them. : ) I too have never seen a Harry Potter movie. I just don't get it. It has nothing to do with magic, I just am not interested. But apparently a lot of people are! I've seen people go crazy to be the first ones to get the newly released book or movie. It's almost like a Star Trek mania mentality. [AmbiePam]

Most of the movies mentioned I have seen and for the most part liked, the exceptions are Brokeback Mountain I did not see and had no desire to see and Passion of the Chrit and Gladiator I saw but didn't really like. I tend to shy away from stupid movies that are supposed to be funny like Something About Mary or Meet the Parents. One movie that got a lot of hype after it got the best picture award was Crash and I didn't care for that one at all. [sumofalltears]

I never saw any of the Raiders of the Lost Ark movies and have no desire to ever see them. I never saw a Die Hard movie either. I never saw Braveheart and don't want to see it. I saw and hated Dances with Wolves. I only saw one of the Austin Powers movie and I hated it too. I couldn't stand Ace Ventura either. And after snoring through the first Lord of the Rings movie, I never went back. Boy, it sounds like I hate movies, doesn't it???? I don't! I completely adore movies. I guess my tastes are just not totally mainstream, although I have enjoyed many other blockbusters. [tentwo67]
Yeah, after you mentioned these, I'm thinking, man, I haven't seen that many movies! Because I haven't seen Lord of the Rings and the movies that followed or Ace Ventura. [AmbiePam]

Braveheart, gladiator, all of the matrix movies, the color purple, Evita (but I liked the music), Blair witch project ---I thought they were all awful. I have seen Titanic, or most other movies - other then Happy Feet, Harry Potter and this weekend - premonition (which I did not like) I usually don't get to see many movies [Debs_place]

Brokeback Mountain. I haven't seen it and I probably never will. Not because I'm... I believe the word is homophobicthough it's justthat nothing about the movie turned my crank. Blade Trinity I also found to be somewhat of a let down. Any of those "teen comedy" movies. Seriously it's the same four sex jokes ad nauseum. [Arkadus]

I haven't seen any of the Saw movies, for the simple reason they are hyped up to much in my area, plus I am not into torture and gore type movies. The other movie I haven't seen because people here say I must see it since it was filmed in Kentucky is Elizabethtown. If I want to see Elizabethtown I just have to drive 20 miles to go see the real thing. I don't need to see some made up love story that just happened to be filmed in area that is close by. [jeweledbluerose]

i haven't seen bridget jones diary.......... [ehdzzie]
Me neither. And that WAS a heavily hyped chick lit movie. Thanks for the response, it is a good one! [AmbiePam]

I have never seen Titanic either plus the Lord of the Rings and Passion of the Christ. Titanic doesn't interest me. I have a problem with LOTR because i don't want to replace the images in my head with filmimages (one day I might decide to watch it). And I don't think I can watch The Passion for several reasons. [mobyfriend]
I think a lot of people are not prone to watch movies based on classic books because the beauty of the books can hardly ever compare to what some film producer comes up with. I mean, a lot of people are thrilled with LOTR, but then others don't like the interpretation and the casting or miscasting of the beloved characters in the books. [AmbiePam]

I have been trying to get into the Godfather for year but cant seem to concentrate on it [blackkatdreamer]
I never tried to watch it. I mean, we can all quote from the thing, but yet I've never seen it. I guess you know a movie is popular when you know phrases in it even when you haven't seen the movie. [AmbiePam]

For me it was the movie "Heat" with Robert DeNiro. We went to see that one night when our first choice was sold out with a group of people. I actually ended up falling asleep during it - it was that boring to me. I just don't get into a lot of shooting and violence without a story and the story either didn't grab me or wwasn't that good to me. [FloatingGum]

Now this might sound weird but I didn't think Forrest Gump lived up to all the hype, not that I didn't like it, I just expected so much more. I have never seen E.T., my children have the movie but I have never watched it. A Wonderful Life, I fell asleep before it was over. Fargo, two hours of my life I'll never get back. Unbreakable, add two more hours of useless life, kept waiting for it to get good, it didn't. You know it's a bad movie when only one person out of a group actually got it. I did get it, had to explain it to hubby and still thought it was bad. Now I did like Dances With Wolves, and I loved Braveheart. Have no desire to see Passions of Christ. [red158]

Me too I haven't seen that movie Titanic and to be honest, your the only person I knew who didn't watch that movie too. I just don't like the movie inspite of all the good critics they gave. [lossforredwords]
I'm glad I'm not alone! : ) [AmbiePam]

i wasn't able to watch 300 but i wanted to. i didn't wanna watch it alone but my friends had watched it ahead of me and when they were done they started to talk about the movie and how things turned out, what happened to this guy, how it ended. it really ruined my mood so i ended up not watching it. i watched The Prestige. i guess it was a good film coz a lot of people praised it and gave out good reviews. i slept thru the rest of the film though, i was bored. i guess i expected something spectacular. my mistake, it was supposed to have the early 19th century set up so of course there wouldn't be any breathtaking magical stunts there. [diannebcrs]

I think I like this movie.Especially when it would be end,the different attitudes to the death gave me great impact. Perhapes the interesting of the life is optimze of anything even including the death. [konweb]

i definitely did not like titanic. i didnt see the passion of the christ either. [boredumb]

I am not a movie fan, and stopped going to the movies when they increase the price of the tickets. There are many heavily hyped movies which I did not watch and I do not feel I have missed any of it. This even so when my friends talked about it. They were surprised I have not seen itm, yet what they were discussing, I am not enticed. I guess I am extra-ordinary :P [whyaskq]
When I see a movie, it's usually borrowed from a friend or rented. Or, there's always the dollar movie! : ) [AmbiePam]

I wanted to see the movie "The Village" so bad. My daughter would hide her face at just the commercial and run from the room. I thought it was going to be REALLY scary. It was so lame I even let the kids watch it and she was all for it when I told her it was not scary, and she watched it all with out being scared. [tammyr]
I liked 'The Village', but like you, I thought it would be scary. I was spared from disappointment when my sister told me not to expect that because it was more suspense than scary. Else, I probably would be disappointed too. [AmbiePam]

Add me to the list of those who has not watched the Titanic. I just have no desire to see it for some reason. As for a hyped movie that I did watch and felt didn't deserve the hype, gee, where to start?! First would be Castaways with Tom Hanks. I thought it would never end. Yes, it was 'cute' but certainly not what it was hyped up to be. I can't believe he made truckloads of money for talking to a ball. Second, I sat through one of the Santa Clause movies, heck, I can't remember the name. It was pathetic...nothing but a drunk cursing every breath! [crazynurse]
Do you mean Bad Santa? I didn't watch that. I have seen the Santa Clause movie with Tim Allen, but I don't remember a lot of cursing. Bad Santa was rated R and starred Billy Bob Thornton. Is that the one you are thinking of? [AmbiePam]

i didn't get the chance to watch the 'ocean's eleven', i have heard that it was a good movie and all star cast. my cousins had watched it and they told it was great and a little funny. a movie that i felt like i want to sleep is the 'scary movie' just not up for those kind of movies. i hate that and it's like exaggerated in every scene. [queenie_sum]

I'm a big fan of "B" movies, independent films, and usually anything the critics don't like. I also love the old classics. [KarenO52]
'B' movies, like the one Quentin Tarantino is releasing calling the double feature 'Grindhouse?' He says it is his ode to 'B' movies. [AmbiePam]

I have never seen 'Star Wars'. I did not see it when it first came out like all my friends did. I have never seen it and I just don't have an interest in seeing it. [gberlin]
I think I was only 2 when the last one was released in theaters, but I have seen 2 of the Star Wars movies. I was sick, there was nothing on TV, and thus, I now can understand the references to Darth Vader. : ) [AmbiePam]

I've never seen Forrest Gump, The Matrix, any of The Godfather movies. I watch a lot of classics, but I've never seen Citizen Kane, and really don't care to. I've seen Casablanca, but I honestly don't see what the big fuss was about. [Angelwriter]

LOL! That is because dances with wolves is a "manly" movie :P JK. Really though, I find more men like it than woman. For me this is a hard question. I am a BIG movie watcher. Hmmmm... honestly, titnic wasn't my bag. I like history, but they turned it into a love story. Then, again they do that with a lot of movies now days :P [LordGregoroftheSith]
Dancing with Wolves' was pretty sensitive for a manly movie. I mean, I loved Last of the Mohicans, some of the Lethal Weapons, but I guess this was just one movie I couldn't get in touch with my masculine side. : ) [AmbiePam]

I've never seen Titanic either. It's been on television a lot but I just couldn't be bothered watching it. As for hyped movies that I don't like, one of them is Pulp Fiction. Actually I think all of Quentin Tarantinos movies are rubbish, they all seem to be just violence with no actual storyline. [crispeater]
He really DOES like the violence. You're right. When I see him in interviews he's almost 'little kiddish' with glee over the violent scenes. [AmbiePam]

There are these Japanese art films by director Akira Kurosawa that I really didn't like. One in particular was titled 'Ran' and was touted as a Japanese version of Shakespeare's King Lear. I tried my best to appreciate it, but frankly, it bored me to tears. [juskoday]
At least you gave it your best shot. : ) [AmbiePam]
