I noticed that I changed as I aged.
I prefer movies that don't make me think much most of the time. Some story that I can just watch without having to go too deep into it.
I used to like drama and heavy movies that got me thinking and challenged me in some way.
But lately I noticed that when I'm choosing a movie to watch I tend to look for "light" movies. COmedies, adventure, action....
I still like a good thriller but this is a big change and I'm not really sure of how and why it happened.
What about you? What kind of movies do you prefer? And did you notice your tastes changing?

I love a good comedy, "Dumb and Dumber" is my all-time favorite. I also like historical fiction, like "The Last Samurai" and "King Arthur". I don't think my tastes have changed too much over the past few years. The only exception would be that I don't watch or enjoy horror movies anymore. I just don't find them entertaining. [biwasaki]

My favorites genres are thrillers and dramas. I have always liked these genres.my taste in films is about the same. The one genre that wasn't around when I started seeing movies as srongly as it is nowis the romantic comedy. The ones that are coming out now I can't stand. There are ones from the 80's that I did like. Moonstruck and Cousins come to mind.It is t.v. that my taste has changed. I would see sitcoms back in the late 70's and early 80's. I haven't watched or seen any movies lately, because I think my expectations are not like what I have on it anymore. I don't know, but I am not that busy to say that I don't have time to watch any of it. But I guess, I am contented on seeing some of it on cable tv's. No matter how old or previous the movies was shown, I prefer to watch them on either DVD's or on cable. From comedy, romance, action to sci-fi's. But go for the content and the story, the more inspiring, the more it excites me. I also prefer those movies that are critically-acclaimed, because I think they must've really been good movies. I love watching movies and it helps that my husband is a movie freak too. We don't really have a preferred genre for watching a movie, we just watch what striked us during the trailers. We enjoy almost everything, comedies, epic movies, sci-fi, and even cartoons. There are certain movies that we just wait for the DVD release like love story movies and some comedy ones. I can be very picky about the movies I watch hun. I love fantasy movies, the Pirates of the Caribbean series, things that make me laugh, but also the Matrix series and some of the darker classic horrors. The Crow is one of my favourite films for example. When I was a lot younger I would happily watch almost anything but I have certainly become a lot of selective now. [recycledgoth]
first on my list are comedy movies, espeically those of rowan atkinson and the wayans brothers. i just love watching comedy movies. then i also watch a lot of martial arts movies. some of my favorite martial artist actors are steven seagal, jean claude van damme, jet li, jackie chan, tony jaa, mark dacascos and cyril raffaelli. i watch these movies because im into martial arts myself. i also watch historic movies and sports movies. the least genre i watch are love stories. Comedy, western movies, detective, martial arts and world war II epics. That is the order of preference for me when it comes to watching movies. Comedy is tops for me because I really enjoy it laughing. I don't like drama because how would you say you enjoy it when it makes you sad? With World War II, I particularly like those that involve planes, warships and tanks. Western movies make me think on how they were during those days. Low tech, how they survive without all the gadgetry that we have now. Most of the time detective movies involve martial arts and I love the combination. Yes, my movie viewing preferences are fluid. However, I wonder if it's just we who are changing. I used to choose by the actors in the movie, but recently I watched "Departed" and could hardly bear to finish it. The violence was tooooooo much for me. There is a lot of cruelty on the screen today. Animated features are way too bland, and horror movies, well....... Have you noticed all the remakes of successful older movies? Movie. Its cool. I really liked movie that was "strange". Hehehe his intention was strange the unreal film and contained the imagination. There was a time when i was into action movies a lot but now things have changed, at the moment I like to watch any kind of movie which has comedy or an emotional story. I like emotional stories that are well structured and that will make me cry, and regarding comedy i will go for any kind of comedy movies. I like just about all types of movies really. Comedies, dramas, horror, sci-fi, adventure, even romance movies I will watch. I think a lot of times it depends on my mood as to which one I will watch. I really like fantasy and sci-fi things best. However, I also like a good comedy, assuming it's not totally "dumb" comedy, and action or thrillers can be fun sometimes. I think my taste in movies kind of depends on what kind of mood I'm in at the time. I used to love horror movies when I was in high school. It would depend on how I'm feeling during that time or during that particular day that I'm planning to watch a movie. Or sometimes, could be it would depend on what my friends would love to watch and they would invite me to come with them to watch. But usually, I prefer to have a good laugh especially if I'm watching movies with my partner so I prefer more on the comedy side. It's would be my first choice. I couldn't agree with you more, about changing anyway. I used to go for heavy action movies (Van Damme, Schwarzenegger, Stallone). Now you can't get me to watch one of those. These days I prefer comedy (preferably in the silly vein, e.g. Scary Movies, Wayans Brothers, Mel Brooks) and the lighter superhero movies (FF and Spiderman over Sin City and Hellboy). I kind of wish they'd make a few more fantasy movies ala Lord of the Rings. There are some mighty good fantasy books out there just begging to be movies (Dragonlance and Discworld come to mind). When I was younger, I use to watch horror movies constantly. As I get older, I enjoy movies for the entertainment value more than anything, but there are some that have a message that I don't mind either. I love fantasy and adventure movies like Lord of the Rings, because it is a very interesting action movie. Because it is also the greatest fantasy epic of our time, Harry Potter.
