I watched The Birds when I was a kid and I am STILL scared of birds to this day. When I look out and see birds lining the telephone wires, I get nervous. Once a bird got in the house and was nervous and flapping its wings and flying around my head and I am about died. You could have heard me scream in another country.
I love scary movies and most don't linger but that one does. The other one is one where the murderer is calling from inside the house and the cops call and tell the person that. ACK! That scares me still too. I won't even mention that I do think of the shower scene from Psycho when I shower and no one is home (Darn Alfred Hitchcock!).
What scary movies have stayed with you and made YOU scared? Am I the only one to have suffered trauma from watching so many scary movies?

I like watching scary movies. But the most scary horror film I watched is the Exorcist, may it be the old and the new. I feel really scared about it especially when linda blair's head turns 360 degrees. I also am scared of the grudge where a hand touches the girl's head in the shower. [shadjee1]
I still don't watch a lot of scary or suspense movies. When I was a kid there was this Filipino movie I watched which gave me trauma until now. It was called Shake Rattle and Roll. It was a collection of 3 stories. One of the story in that movie was about a young girl who imprisoned her sister inside a cabinet because of jealousy. Until now whenever I see old closets and cabinets at night I get scared and I imagine them opening by themselves. There is another movie that scared me when I was young, I think it was about doll monsters. I don't like having dolls in my room, my imagination gets wild and I sometimes imagine them moving and thinking. When I am home alone watching movie I make sure I don't watch something scary, or else I won't be able to sleep, like last night, I watched a CSI NY episode where the killer slits their victims eyelids. The cadaver looked like it was looking at me and I wasn't able to sleep. :) [puchapox]
Mine would be the ring japanese version it really scares the hell out me. It goes on and on on me. I don't want to be alone eversince specially at night. [bluishrose]
this is a good discussion. i have conquered a lot of fear in my life by facing them believing in GOD. listning to great songs help. reading the Bible or Quraan helps amazingly. minding one's own bussiness helps. and being there for people makes us stronger. no fear just GOD, apple. [applecartronnie]
I'm not a fan of scary movies but what movies that really scare me the most are ones like He Knows Your Alone or When A Stranger Calls. Movies that are about real people and not fictional like Freddy Crueger(? spelling). [njrealestategirl]
The two movies that really got to me years ago was Psycho (Darn Alfred Hitchcock!) and The Exorcist. My husband still thinks it's funny to surprise me in the shower... if he only knew! The Exorcist scared the bejeebers out of me the first time I saw it, I was fairly young and a Christian at the time. We of course were taught that Satan can possess people and turn them into horrible monsters. It's strange you bring this up today because The Exorcist was on TV last night and no longer being a Christian or believing in a Satan, I find the movie rather funny though a bit gross in spots. It's a good horror movie but the inner trauma that I once felt is gone. It's still a classic. [craftcatcher]
Jack Nicholson's The Shining was quite scary, probably because of his very convincing acting. I can still hear that kid saying "redrum", which is reverse of "murder". But in terms of effect the movie had on me, it would have to be Jaws, because now I'm definitely afraid of sharks and I wouldn't dare go swimming in shark-infested waters! [wisedragon]
i dare not to see any scary movie now, even just a scary picture! [yiumao]
yeh! I sm also scared of something. But I haven't watched The Birds. If I have the chance,I will try it. [binlvpj]
The Exorcist scared the crap out of me when I was a youngster and I still can't watch it again. In fact, when I hear "Tubular Bells", my hair stands up straight! Also hard to admit, but The Blair Witch Project scared me. I wasn't fully aware that it was fake! lol. [Malamute]
I've never liked clowns when I was growing up, but when I saw Stephen King's "It" for the first time, that pretty much sealed the deal! lol. I do not like clowns, and cringe from them wherever I should happen to see them. Other than that, I really can't think of anything else. I love horror movies, but if one has clowns in it, there's no way I'm watching it! [SDTermite]
I love horror and scary movies. I always watch them when I am alone. It really makes me bit scary and thrilled. That's funny part. Apart from movies I mostly watch real life ghost encounter and documentary on such subjects. I think in our world there are so many things, about which we know very less. And things which are unknown to us makes us feel scare. [BeachLover]
I can say "The Ring" is the most scariest movie I have ever seen. Because up to now I can't get over it. At night I always imagine "Sadako" will creep into my bed and it always freak me out at night. Her face was so scary and that I can't help but to get scared about her. [Ranie19]
In my childhood the i saw the movie jurrasic park and that was a very scary experience for me but i loves that movie. the most scaring scene was the one in wihich the dinosour was appeared first time on the screen. it was like that i am really seeing a dinosour. that was a great experience. [sandeep_2991984]

[cloud_kicker_32]
The Exorcist. I've never seen the whole movie but the parts of it that I have seen scared me half to death and I cannot watch the whole thing to this day. I'm sure there are more but I'll have to think about this one a little more and come back. Oh, Scream scared the crap out of me too and I couldn't be alone in the house for about a week after I saw it. [Buggheart]
Stephen King's Cujo. There was also a Twilight Zone movie about a killer doll that wouldn't die. I've never liked dolls b/c of that movies. I also really don't like clowns and puppets...too many horror movies. AT PEACE WITHIN [twoey68]
Trust me...I know what you mean :) AT PEACE WITHIN ~~STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS~~ [twoey68]
The Howling. Seen it was I was a kid and it's still scares the hell out of me! [Waves1971]
i guess im just not one of those easily scared ppl. ive seen a lot of "scary" movies but only one has ever had any lasting affect on me. compared to the special effects of todays movies its kind of cheesy looking to watch it now..but it's Jaws. in its day, Jaws was the scariest freaking movie ever lol! thousands of ppl refused to go swimming at beaches because of that movie. i even remember hearing that the tourist revenues for cities known for their beaches was down big time the year Jaws hit the theatres. since then ive seen a lot of nature shows about sharks and such, and know that what the shark did in Jaws is pretty absurd...but i still wont go swimming in the ocean! no way! knowing MY luck i will be the 1 person in billions to suddenly have a killer great white after me for Vengeance. lmao! [CinderInMySoul]
hello wotfpatty lol so sorry that a bird got in your house and about scared you half to death lol the scariest movie i think that i have ever seen is Storm of the Century...omg! it took me like three or four days to watch that movie...have you seen it? here is some information about the movie...i hope that you enjoy it... Storm of the Century is a 1999 horror TV miniseries written by Stephen King and directed by Craig R. Baxley. Promotional material for the miniseries claimed that it was King's first ever story written exclusively for a miniseries, but was actually his second after the not-as-well-known Golden Years. King would later publish the screenplay in book form, with the screenplay format intact. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Storm_of_the_Century have a wonderful day! [RLFinNash]
That's good because you have good mind memories' attachment and your mind focusing as well. OK mine? was the 70's story if you can remember "The voyage to the bottom of the sea", where the submarine life had been the features of the whole story. Every time I closed my eyes while taking shover, I remember that submarine voyaging the bottom of the sea. That story really traumatic. Yeah...you can imagine, my age now 46, and that movie aired on TV when I was 10 years old. So it greenly roams in my brain memory now for 36 years and for the whole of my life. And I hope, I can go to Hollywood Film Industry and to "refurbish" that movie...and to make me trillianaire...HA HA HA HA HA... [michaeldadona]
I have seen a movie "Final Destination" in which there is no actual scarer but the situations that are created makes u feel scared to touch or do anything in the world! [relics_aoe]
I hardly take a shower. I watched Psycho and I always got nervous when I heard that E E E E! and I see the knife coming down, see Janet Leigh's face, and then you see all that blood going down the drain. That is very scary. I will also make sure that I stay in the car when we drive through rural areas and see a whole bunch of birds looking menacingly from a telephone pool. The modern horror are just too much sensation. The old black and white ones, now they were scary. [suspenseful]
eheh yes sometimes i watch scary movies sincerly i watch not so oftne now but i emember that when i was a child i used to watch many as well!! so in reality i can't say that they affected me very much about the scary situation on the movies...now when i watch a movie seldom i feel scared but in many cases seem or too violent or even funny for example i remmeber when i watched jason saga it is much more funny than scaring in my opinion!!so i don't suffer now a trauma related to this kind of movies may be i will wait to watch a really scaring one who will change and affected my life:):)!!any suggestions related to this? [tonyllenium]
Well - I've always had somewhat of a fear of spiders to begin with. There have been several movies like arachnophobia, & several others, that I cannot remember the names of, that sort of re-inforced that. [KrazyKlingon]
