Now a days the movies are gererally of shorter length lasting for about one and half hoursto two hours duration. Some are a big more longer!
Previously during our child hood the movies used to be atleast 3 hours of duration! But with the change of times and people's taste the trend has got changed and now a days movies with short durations have come up into the market!
I recall of having seen The Ten Commandments and the Hindi movie 'Mera Naam Joker' by Raj Kapoor which were more than 3 hours in duration.

I LOVE that movie and I think it is the longest one I have seen as well. Has to be one of my favorites. When I watched it I watched it on DVD and there were 3 discs, so 2 hours on each one. So if you wanted to take a break between them you could. It's really good though and time flew by when I watched it it didn't seem like it was that long. [whittear]
Even i feel 'Mera naam joker' is a long movie. But its such a nice movie that you dont feel its that long. in recent times, hindi movie saawariya is pretty long. it is also close to 3 hours.. [pinkfloyd007]
I can't remember the specific length but I think that Titanic was quit long and those Lord of the Ring movies were long to. Also I have watched a few Bolywood movies on TV and sometimes they feel really long. Longer than those 3 hours. I don't have anything against long movies but they really have to have a great story or otherwise I get bored and end up not watching the movie till the end in one sitting. [Takashy]

For my Shakespeare class a few weeks ago we had to watch Kenneth Brannah's full length version of Hamlet.The film is about 4 hours long. Not only that but it's ull of long Shakespeare monologues. It's a pretty goodfilm but the length and the fact it is Shakespeare almost had me falling asleep! [beki710]
The longest movie I have watched is The Stand (from the book by Stephen King). It went for about 6 hours I believe. The strange thing is though that you don't really notice that it goes for so long. It's done well enough to draw you in and want to know what happens next..so the 6 hours really didn't bother me. [dwickham]
the longest movie i have seen is the lord of the rings, all the three parts. each of them were 3+ hours and i guess the three of them sum of to a total of 10 hours. and the trilogy was worthed it! they translated the novel extremely well. [060157]
The longest movie I've seen from start to finish is "Gone With the Wind". I remember seeing "Spiderman 3" in theatres a few summers ago, and it ran about 2 1/2 hours, and it felt really long near the end. lol. I've also watched the mini series "The Stand", but I had to watch it in two parts. I believe it's 8 hours in total, so that means I only watched 4 hours straight. [CanadaGal]

I have watched the ten commadments too and movies like that that are longer . I also have watched mini series . The last longer one i watched was roots and that was last year around the holidays . I want to say there was 4 parts to that and each were just about 2 hrs . so , i would say that was 8 hrs . Very wonderful movie happy [metschica25]

I have watched the Ten Commandments and I guess that's the longest move Ive eve seen. I remember watching it during Holy Week from morning till the afternoon. I think Titanic was long too. (I am just guessing) . [katrhina23]
we are the same akrao24. i've watched ten commandments also and it was the longest movie i have ever seen. especially during lenten season, when we have nothing to do in our house, we watched christian movies. my parents also wanted to watch that kind of movies. when we watched the ten commandments, i fell asleep. hehe! because it kinda boring and ancient. when i woke up, it was already in credits. and i didn't remember how many hours the movie was... =) [manixxx]

Yes, I've watched a movie already that took me almost 3 hours. I don't remember the movie title but it was a Korean movie. I started to watch it 4:00 pm in the afternoon and I finished at about 6:40 pm. I haven't noticed the time just when my sister called me up for dinner, I was like HAWLAH! That would definitely have to be Cleopatra starring Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton! That movie went on for a very long time but I absolutely loved it! Now that you mention the Ten Commandments, yes, I remember that being very long as well and that was another favourite movie of mine. Well, in my lifetime, I have seen a couple of long movies. Some of them would be "Gone With The Wind", "King Kong" and the new Batman movie. Most of the time I prefer the shorter ones as the longer ones tend to drag, but these 3 here I mentioned are worth the time watching them so I will usually watch these more than once as well to catch what I might have missed the first time as well. I think the longest movie I have ever seen was Gone with the Wind. I've only seen it a couple times because it is so long. I don't mind a two hour movie, but when it goes to two and half hours or three or beyond, I'm about ready for it to be over. Hello AKRao24, a really great question! I have seen Edgar Reitz' Heimat, which was 15 hours and 40 minutes, but was broken up for TV viewing. I've also seen Live Aid which was 600 minutes and Arthur Hailey's Roots which was 573 minutes (but again broken up for TV). Among "normal" films, I have seen Kenneth Branagh's Hamlet (240 minutes), Gone With The Wind (238 minutes),Woodstock (225 minutes) and Lawrence of Arabia (217 minutes). My personal marathon session was to watch Schindler's List (196 minutes) three times in a row - all through the night. All the best. Umart [umart13]
I think the longest movie I've ever watched was either the 2nd or 3rd Harry Potter film. I just remember watching the movie at home and falling asleep through the middle and waking to find the movie still had a few more hours left. I think the move was close to 4 hours long. [mishastar]
