Hello there. I would like to ask which is the most touching movie you have watched before?
For me, it has to be 'The Way Home'. It is a Korean movie.
'The Way Home' is a touching story about a spoiled city boy, SangWoo whose single mom falls on hard times. The mom has no choice but to ship the boy off to the rural mountain town where his grandma lives. The grandmother is a hunchback lady with serious osteoporosis from bending over low stoves all her life. She's also mute and illiterate. Despite the physical limitations, she works diligently without complaining.
Initially, the SangWoo treats his grandma with disrespect and apathy. He assumes she's a country bumpkin because she's unfamiliar with the trappings of the modern world. He tries to keep himself occupied with the things he brought with him from the city: his rollerblades, his toys, his Coca Cola and etc. However, after seeing all the sacrifices the gentle old woman makes for him, he soon learns some important lessons about love, kindness, selflessness and humility.
I personally love this movie a lot. I was so touched by the movie that I kept crying non-stop. Bring some tissues if you watch this movie (It's a tearjerker!) and don't forget to call your grandma afterwards to tell her you love her.

The first movie that comes to mind for me is The Notebook. I missed the first part of the movie but I got the idea. I think everyone wants a love like that. Even though they were apart for awhile and then he came back, they couldn't stay away from each other. And then in their old age, when she couldn't always remember who he was, he still stayed by her side and loved her every day. Then at the end they died together. I wish I had someone who loved me like that. [ravinskye]
Hello there. Thanks for responding. I have not watched The Notebook before. I shall go find it and then watch it. It seems like a good movie. Thanks for the recommendation. [poohgal]
I think the most touching movie I ever watched was Dead Poet's Society. I haven't seen any movie that affected me quite as much as that one. The idea of learning to follow your dreams despite fear, and despite all obstacles, and stand up for those who have helped you to follow those dreams... it was just beautiful to me, even though there is much sadness in the movie. I'm not sure I could get much out of the movie you are talking about. I wish I had a grandmother of that sort. [lecanis]
*nods* I had a great-grandmother that was very kind to me, so perhaps it would remind me of her rather than my grandmothers. I'll have to see if I can find it anyway. Another poster was talking about Robin Williams, and he's also in Dead Poet's Society. =) [lecanis]
wow it seems to be a great movie, I will definitely see it whenever i get hold of it, but of all the movies I have watched the one I liked the most was "PURSUIT OF HAPPINESS" I was very touched by this movie,it is about a man who is a salesman but donot earn much , his wife does all the earnings, but then the man decides to be a stock broker and so he decides to take the course , his wife lives him and his little son and goes away, the man struggles with his life to get his course done after his home is taken and he doesn't even have a penny , the support his son shows is amazing and finally the man becomes a great stock broker and their life starts again. [sumitsonu]
I have watched the Pursuit of Happyness too. It's a great movie. I like the acting of Will Smith and his son. It's amazing. Thanks for responding. Take Care. =D [poohgal]
Touching movies for me are mostly based on real life, and those of which I never expected what the story would turn out to be. Most of them are movies starring Robin Williams, like Patch Adams and The Awakenings. Both of this are stories that pertains to medical issues, as Patch Adams is one of the best physician who would love to treat his patients as friends and not just costumers. While The Awakenings is a story about "encephalitis lethargica" in which a patient are in a state of catatonic, then awakened by treating them with a L-Dopa (a drug which is now commonly used for managing parkinson's disease). Aside from it being movies that deals with drama and a comedian like Robin Williams starring it, it also informs us and be aware that there are events and people that help others for the sake of mankind.. [raijin]
I hope that you do check them at least, those movies are truly hear-warming and inspirational!;) Bless you too, have a great day. [raijin]
I saw this movie called, " Someone had to be Benny," and it was true story of a 15 year boy that was terminally ill and I think him and his parents fought to keep him home from the hospital and fought to stop taking medication or something like that I don't exactly remember but this was one of the stories that touched me and it was such a sad story, Benny the kid that was ill died at 15 due to his illness, and they story reminds me of kids that are ill and it saddens me. [sweetangel88]
Oh. 'Someone had to be Benny' sounds like a really sad movie. I always cry in such movies. It's always painful to see people falling sick, especially kids. Thanks for sharing. [poohgal]

That sounds sweet. I might look for that one to watch with my mom. I guess the most touching (in the way of tearjerker touching) for me was Sophie's Choice. Sophie was a Polish mother taken to Auschwitz during the holocaust, and she was forced to make a choice which of her children would live and which would die. [cremechese51]
Hello there. I love watching war movies. They teach us many lessons about life. I have watched one movie regarding Holocaust before. I cannot remember the title but I do not think it's Sophie's Choice. I'll try to find the movie. Thanks for sharing. =D [poohgal]
my favorite movie is "new police story" staring jackie chan jackie chan is amazing person he proved to the world he can act, not jsut action star but also agood actor. the story of this movie about young youth steal for fun and jackie chan is apolice offcer trying to arrest them. [motaz4]
I've watched 'New Police story' before. Yea, Jackie Chan movies are usually action packed and exciting. His fighting stunts are real and good too. [poohgal]
I can'y say there is only one or two even 3 or 4 movies , but almostly they are ASIAN movies , either CHINESE or KOREAN , one of the best movies that I like to repeat and repeat is a chinese SHA PO LANG , starring by SAMMO HUNG and others except that SAMMO is the bad guy here , it's about a police inspecter who was accompagning a witness's family to testify against PO LANG and they got crashed by one of PO LANG's member car , and this latter slaughter the father , the mom was killed at the accident , but the girl survives after getting many bones broken , the inspector lives to complete the story , in the accident a piece of GLASS wrongs his head , so he went to check the doctor who did tell him he has BRAIN CANCER , any way , he and his squad of 4 took care of the girl and he becomes her GODFATHER , this inspector make a promis to get reveange from PO LANG , and the events started to get wormer , I won't tell everything but I would recommend it , what I can say that all the good guys will die except the bad one!!! And even the new chief whol should take place of our inpector dies dramatically , what a movie worths to be watched...! Another one is a KOREAN movie called WIND FIGHTER , it seems like a real story of one of the martial arts masters who had no future but one accident changes his life , the story shows the suffering of KOREANS from racism , humilation , patience and a lot... The movie of CHOW YAN FAT (THE KILLER & THE BABY if as in the french title) these 2 movies are very dramatic and trajitic ones , you can accept the end of it and you'll wish that the producer will excuse for us and remake them again with another ending... A KOREAN movie filled with FUN and DRAMA , WIND STRUCK , I won't say more than , why they wrote the story to let him DIE!!!!!!!!!!!! The list so long but these what I've rewatched these days. [passwordrain]
Yeah that you've just mentioned is very good and worth to watch , what I like more when he loses his memory and they switch his cards to test his ability and the result was :)) He's a brillant actor in the chinese cinema and he has a touching style , the most of his movies finish with his death , that won't be in American Movies (the happy ending is their title) Even his movie THE CROUCHING TIGER AND THE HIDDEN DRAGON finish with the same style and shows that he sacrifices when he can survive , his messages are well recieved. [passwordrain]
For me, the most touching movie I have seen may have been Pan's Labyrinth. I loved this movie, it was a little gruesome in some of the scenes but I found the plot line to be amazing. And it hit me as being on of the heavier movies but honest to every little girls imagination. Didn't you ever want to be a princess. Even though it was in Spanish, I think I will carry it with me as one of my favorite movies of all time, it touched my that deep. R. [ptrnow]
Hello there. I watched Pan's Labyrinth before too. I agree with you that there are some scenes which are quite gruesome. To be frank, I am still confused about the movie. Is it the girl's imagination or it is real? The director did a great job in capturing the essence of this fairy tale. Thanks for sharing. [poohgal]
the movie that i can't forget that really touch me is "the notebook" and "save the last dance for me". they have a really romantic love story. it's an awesome movie. i hope you'll try to watch it. have a nice day! [claire03]
The Notebook is not an ordinary love story . Its too good, please do watch it [greatjinesh]
Oh, there are so many touching movies. I just give one or two I can remember now. One is called "Love story". I thinks it's very famous for it's music. The story is short and simple. The other one is "Out of Africa". They can't live together forever. In fact, one of the couple died in both movies. But I think they are alive in their lovers' hearts forever. They became a part of their lovers' life. Though they miss, but they got so touching love stories. [OrangJuice]
I think I'm so easy to touching by movies or TV series, no matter the stories in lovers, family members, etc. [OrangJuice]
hi, i think Iron Will was really good. It is a older movie came out in like 1990 or so. there are other touching ones that i like and make me cry but that the one that came out my mind first. [Dee351972]
You are welcome. I like telling people so they can learn from it. If you want to learn more u can let me know. [Dee351972]

Thanks for sharing. I'll keep a lookout for these 3 movies. =D [poohgal]
The movie that touches me so much is The Notebook. I really love the story and everything. I don't get bored to watch it all over again. I watched it evert after 3-4 months. We have our own copy of it. Hubby loves it so much too. That movie connotes also a very wonderful memory on me and my husband because that is the movie we watched the night after our engagement.*smile* [MarieJ23]
Yes, you are right pooh! My husband is also very picky when it comes to touching movies. So far, it's The Notebook that catches his interest and feeling (LO). Oh, I remember now. When I was in college, my guys dormmates cried when they watched the movie "A Walk To Remember". They said it touches them. It was fun because they are the kind of guys who are nin school as tough ones, I mean they are good students but somehow show they are emotionless when it comes to sentimental matter. YOu know what I mean....*smile* [MarieJ23]
Hey,the most touching movie I have watched is Pursuit of Hapiness,Its a movie where a person is on his way to making his career at the same time trying to support his wife and child and how he makes it big after going through all crap and having no support and sometimes having to live on streets. Its sad happy and yet motivating getting across the message that one should not give up in life [rochel1011]
Thanks for your response. I have watched the movie before too. Will Smith and his son acted very well. It's indeed a very touching movie. Thanks for sharing. [poohgal]

Thanks for responding. Have a good weekend =D [poohgal]
Straight of the top of my head, I would have to say GHOST featuring, Patrick Swayze, Demi Moore and Whoopi Goldberg. I haven't seen "The way home", but I love tear jerkers so I definitely look out for it at the Video Shop. Plus my partner gets a good laugh when he sees my cry as a result of a sad movie. I thing that if a movies touches you in that was that you become emotionally involved that you end up crying then all praise to the director!!! [ashleneyah]

[zhanizh]
True indeed. Many people has given thumbs up for 'The Notebook'. I shall definitely try to get hold of it and watch it soon. I've watched 'my sassy girl' and '50 first dates' before. Both are good movies. They are romantic and funny. I was quite touched by both movies but I did not cry. I do not usually cry watching romantic films. I am usually more touched by films regarding kinship. As for 'Castaway', is it the one by Tom Hanks? I have not watched it yet. I shall try to find it too and then watch it. Thanks for the recommendation. Have a good weekend. =D [poohgal]
The most touching movie I have seen is "The Shawshrank Redemption" which is also my favourite movie. "The Shawshrank Redemption" was released in 1994.Another great movie "Forest Gump" released at the same time because of which it did't get it's Academy Rewards. Andy has spend 20 years for his prison break. The most impressive is the part when Andy got out of the jail. In the heavy rain,he extended his arms in front himself and tears fell on his face. He was welcoming the freedom and fresh air. I always think about his word "Remember. Hope is a good thing, maybe the best things and no good things ever dies". It always encourage me to face,to fight and keep moving on. A great movie, right?Thank Stephen King for writing such a geart book. Thank the director too. [tujiagirl]
Wow. 'Shawshrank Redemption' sounds like a great movie. I have never watched or heard of it before. I am glad that you have found courage and inspiration from this movie. I'll definitely try to find it and watch it soon. I love inspiring movies too. I've watched 'Forest Gump' before. I like it a lot. Tom Hanks has great acting and the story is simply wonderful. Hello there. Thanks for sharing. I like the song 'Freedom' too. =D Have a good weekend. [poohgal]
"It's a Wonderful Life", this is the most touching and the best movie that I've ever seen. The movie begins with a man attempting suicide and at that very moment his wife and children are praying to God. And in heaven his guardian Angel is sent to help him. This man on encountering his Angel says "I wish I was never born". The Angel grants his wish and shows a world without and then this man understands his life on earth has been a blessing beyond his belief. You must see this movie to believe. I'm sure you'll love this movie. The movie was directed by Frank Cappra and has James Stewart in lead role as George Bailey. [cristobert]
'It's a wonderful life' sounds like the kind of movie I will like. I like movies that provides with valuable lessons in life. I think this movie definitely teaches us to count our blessings. Thanks for sharing and I'll look around my local video stores to find the movie. Have a happy weekend. =D [poohgal]
The most touching movie i ever saw was pursuit of happyness. It was seriously a brilliant movie and Will Smith did a great job in the movie. Not only did he do well, also his son was there in the movie, playing the same role, and he was so cute and acted seriously well. The best part was the climax and throughout the movie he was fabulous. [surajpkn]
Yea. I find The Pursuit of Happyness very inspiring too. Will Smith and his son have both acted really well. I like the movie too. =D Thanks for sharing. =D Have a restful sunday. [poohgal]
I'd never heard of "The Way Home" until I read this discussion but now I really want to see it. Also, I've yet to see "The Notebook" but I'm going to put that on the very top of my list to see ASAP. Many of the movies others have mentioned on this post would also be on my list of most touching film, "Shawshank Redemption" was one of the best films I've ever seen and "It's a Wonderful Life" is a timeless classic. A few others I'd like to add are "Brian's Song" - the original, starring James Caan - and "something For Joey"; both of these were made for TV movies, but they were excellent and both true stories and real tearjerkers. Another one was "Terms of Endearment", which was mostly about a troubled relationship between a mother and daughter and another very sad movie. I just now, as I'm typing, thought of "Steel Magnolias", another about family ties. Gosh, there are so many I'm sure I'm forgetting some great ones, but these come to mind immediately. There was a great "mini-series", in fact the very first one if I'm not mistaken, "Rich Man, Poor Man". Thanks for coming up with a great question here! Annie [anniepa]
You are very welcome Annie. You have listed some great movies. I am not sure if those mini-series and TV movies are available in my country. I'll give it a search. I would love to watch them too. =D Thanks for sharing. Have a good Sunday. [poohgal]
The most touching movie for me I think would be The Notebook, it was movie with so much love and warmth in it and I cried during some parts. If you have not seen it yet you should if you get the chance. Hugs! [hoghoney]
Yea. Many people highly recommend The Notebook too. I will definitely watch it. Thanks for sharing. =D Have a good Sunday! [poohgal]

Hmm. I have not heard of the movies you were talking about. I'll try to find it. Thanks for sharing. =D [poohgal]
Probably, I would say the Passion of Christ! I remember some of the folks that have watched inside were crying. But I did not! I was sad that Christ has to suffer those things for me but was grateful because I know that was the only way to save me! [topei12]
Yea. I watched that too. I was crying too. The part where Jesus was stoned and then after crucified was very painful to watch. We have done nothing to deserve Jesus' love and actions for us. Thanks for sharing. =D [poohgal]
Ladder 49. I wanted to watch that movie the instant it was over with. [Sacrificialclam]
Thanks for sharing =D [poohgal]
the most touching movie I have seen in recent years was the beautiful life - an italian film that is extremely moving... it has romance, humor, love, joy, sadness - tears. [Modestah]
Sounds great. I shall try to get hold of it. =D Thanks! [poohgal]
Armegeddon was really touching Micheal bay directed the movie. Its was probably the most touching movie i've ever seen.A couple other movies that Micheal bay directed are the island and pearl harbor. [lrak14]
True indeed. I remember crying at the part where Bruce Willis pushes Ben Affleck back and asks him to take care of his daughter. That's so touching. crycry [poohgal]
hi poo, hope the avtar earns you a lot my friend(lol) i pic i rember and touching me a lot is taare zamin paar...its a hindi movie,indian..a story is all about bringing up of different capacity or slow learner child to a moderate and more powerful student out of others... [rkrish]
That indeed sounds very touching and inspiring too. I would love to watch it if given the chance. Thanks for sharing. [poohgal]
well i have seen quite a few classic moviesd but the best for me is a bengali film named pather panchali. i dont know how many of you have heard about this movie. it is by a very good and famous director Satyajit Ray and this is a very good movie. i think it is one of the best movies made in the history. also the story is so well presented and the acting is so good that you can really feel the whole movie. each character is so real that it can be any one of us and that is why i like the movies of satyajit ray [amitavroy]
I certainly haven't. I doubt bengali movies are shown in Singapore. Thanks for sharing. happy [poohgal]
It must be "A Tale of Mari and Three Puppies". It's also a tear-jerker and it's based on a true story! It's not just a story about how strong the dog and the puppies are, but it's a story of love, cooperation, friendship, and hope. I also kept crying non-stop he he he he... http://www.hkflix.com/xq/asp/filmID.546862/qx/details.htm The movie you mentioned here sounds sad. Maybe I'll go find it later he he... [ailema4ever]
Oh.. I love doggy movies... They are always so touching. I've watched Hearty Paws (Korean) and 10 Promises to my Dog (Japanese). Both are very touching. I'll check out A tale of Mari and 3 Puppies. I'm sure I'll like it. Thanks for the recommendation. happy [poohgal]
for me, it's 50 First Date. it's very touching about how one person could love so unconditionally, despite the fact that his partner lack something. really, it got me crying everytime drew barrymore would wake up and she would watch that vhs tape first thing in the morning only to let it come to her consciousness that she has a husband and a child. :) [GourdBreaker]
Yea. It's a touching love story. Adam Sandler's love is really admirable. [poohgal]
The most touching movie for me is "I am Sam" by actor Sean Penn and Dakota Fanning. Very touching story about a mentally handicapped father and his efforts to retain custody to his daughter, Lucy. I've watched it several times already and i can watch it over and over again, will still touch me to my deepest. Isn't that amazing that a man with a 7yr old mind can work at Starbucks? happy Great performance too by Dakota, she seems so natural in her role. I know someone have watched this movie too and touches you, made you laugh and cry. I have to mention too the soundtracks, all Beatle songs, two thumbs up!! happy [rrowenaa]
Sounds like a great movie! I haven't watched it before. It sounds like one of those movies I will like. Thanks for the recommendation. I'll check out my video shop soon. wink [poohgal]
The most touching movie would have to be Forrest Gump which came out back in 1994. It's about a man named Forrest, who is played by Tom Hanks, that reunites with his best friend Jenny. He tells of his life story right up to the point before he sees her while waiting at a bus stop. It was a very touching movie that not only made me laugh, but cry as well. It won 6 oscars and Another 32 wins & 38 nominations which you can read about at this site: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0109830/awards [sacmom]
Yea. I love that movie a few times too. It's a great movie. I can never get sick of it. happy [poohgal]
happyHi,there, For me the most touching movie I have ever watched is "rainman"and "A Beautiful Mind"(if I am allowed to write two movies ..haha)maybe is can called the most touching movie in english .Actually,I haven't watched so many movies in my daily life as I don't have so much time and it is hardly for me to calm my mind and watch some movies..Now I am in my vocation ,maybe can get some amount of time to watch some movies ;) I was really touched by the spirite of the actor who struggled with himself and in the end he conquered himself and made a great contribuation to the whole world when I was watching the movie"A beautiful mind" Just in this movie I learnt that we can conquer everything if we can defeat ourselvesmost of the time we have only one enemy~~that is ourselves [comeonmolly]
I've watched both too! I love 'A Beautiful Mind'. Russell Crowe is a great actor. I love his portrayal of John Nash. happy It's true indeed. Our biggest enemy is ourselves. [poohgal]
wow.. I think,on how you tell that story to us.. that's a very touching story.. I'm gonna make a way to watch that movie.. =).. For me.. The title of the movie is "Simon Birch". I love that movie so much, because that movie makes me realize that Your life have a purpose,Eventhough you think that you're life is as senseless as you think.. That God has a wonderful plan to us if you will just let him.Simon's body is different from the normal. he has a bestfriend and until death they're love for each is there. Eventhough everybody says that he is worthless, he did'nt believe that instead he proves to them that he has a great purpose here on earth. He saves the children in the bus that causes him to die.. another touching story for me is the "my bestfriends wedding".. It makes me sad that in the ending they are not together in the end. I realize that eventhough you're very much inlove with him, and you do many ways just to fight for your love, if it not meant to be, it will not meant to be.. and also learn to let go of him, and stay happy and still be in love again [ghreizahnne]
Simon Birch sounds like a great movie. I'll definitely watch it soon. Thanks for sharing. happy [poohgal]
Great discussion i'll watch Notebook as soon as i can .I havent red all posts so sry if i repeat some movies that has already been mentioned, but here is my list:Elephant Man, Schindler's List, American Beauty, El Laberinto del fauno and Mulhollad drive. Last one probably isn't gona touche lot of people becouse its a bit hard to get into but "club silencio" sceen is probably sadest and one of the most powerfull sceens in hollywood pictures. And if you like movies generaly not(not only hollywood one's) i'd recomend you Ivan's Chiledhood & Andrei Rublev. P.S. Sorry fot long post and my bad English(im from estern europe). [ReckonerSr]
Welcome to mylot. happy Among those you have listed, I've only Schindler's List. It's indeed a great movie. Thanks for the recommendation. I'll try to get my hand on the other movies. [poohgal]
There a lot of movies that comes to my mind. Patch adam is good movie. Schindler's list is also very touching especially the lst part where he realized that he should saved more lives than acquiring money. I would have to say that the most touching movie that I have seen is "what dreams may come" It is a Robin Williams movie. It is very tragic. His 2 children died in a car accident. After he died, his wife commited suicide due to depression. Because he loves her so much, he crossed hell to be with her. Try watching it. It's worth it! :) [king4aday]
Hi. I've watched both Patch Adam and Schindler's List. They are indeed great movies. Thanks for sharing. happy [poohgal]
after reading what you wrote.. my tears fall... it hurts me when i thought that i will do that to my grand mother... [meipan]
