Which Is Your Favorite Animal Movie

I was watching Beverly Hills Chihuahua, and I was thinking about animal movies. There have been a lot: Free Willy, Air Bud, Lassie... I was wondering about your favorite animal movie. A movie where an animal or group of animals is the main focus of the movie. So...?

There have been so many animal movies that I liked. It is hard for me to pick just one. I just rented Beverly Hills Chihuahua myslf this past week. I really liked it alot. I also like Air Buddies that was a very cute movie also. [Shaun72]
I agree I relly liked Beverly Hills Chuhulia. I am going to buy the dvd of it. I can't belive it got low rated. [Shaun72]

OMG---next to children's type of movies I love animal-related movie, and most bring me to tears even when they aren't sad. Here are some of my favorites (can't remember all..LOL): Free Willy Homeward Bound Fly Away Home Air Bud Benji The Bear Thomasina Grey Friar's Bobbie Zues & Roxanne Fluke White Fang Iron Will For cartoon/animated types: Bambi The Lion King Spirit [pyewacket]
Ahhhhhh Bambi ... now their is a classic Disney movie! I loved that movie when I first saw it as a child happy. [PurpleTeddyBear]

I have two favorites. One is Milo and Otis, and the other is the Incredible Journey. Both are almost all animals with no or very little human presence in the movie. [catdla1]

hi AmbiePam! I liked the movie BEETHOVAN, a 1992 American family movie by Brian Levant. It was hilarious and the St. Bernard was so adorable. happy A couple of other animal movies I thought were great movies are: THE SHAGGY DOG and THAT DARN CAT. [dasani]
Did you see the original Shaggy Dog? With, I think his name was Fred McMurray? It was in black and white. I remember seeing it as a child and I couldn't get it out of my head. [AmbiePam]

Zeus & Roxanne was my favorite movie as a kid. I also loved Free Willy and Homeward Bound: The Incredible Journey. All of them have great soundtrack, I still remember the tunes. [Bionicman]

I like Babe, Congo and Chicken Run. They are wonderfully make alive movie, in which animals life are best describe. You can feel the different emotions, happiness, fears, love, and a story of friendship. Just, like us, humans, animals have feelings too. [neelianoscet]
I can't believe I forgot Babe! Oh, and I forgot Old Yeller. I bawled every time I watched Old Yeller. [AmbiePam]

That would be the first "Babe" movie... also the second one wasn't that bad... the the original is always the best... i love the interaction between the farm animals... and how Babe was able to get the love and affection of those animals who ridiculed him at first... aside for that... he has the cutest animal voice i have ever heard... [aseretdd]

Its very hard to say....there are so many. I saw Free Willy on the plane ride to hawaii so that does make it even more special....But I liked White Fang too...a long time ago there was two movies about the same dog....can't recall the name right now....my mother loved the movies too.... [jillhill]
It was the Beethoven movies....loved those! [jillhill]

That Darn Cat, the orginal with Haley Mills [ElicBxn]

wow so many to choose from The Bear, Rin Tin Tin, Riki tiki tavi, Benji, I could not make a decision... But, I just asked my husband and he has an answer for himself... his favorite animal movie is JAWS sigh. [Modestah]
Oh man, JAWS? ROFL [AmbiePam]

Farce of the Penguins is my all-time favorite movie. Can penguins be called "animals" or are they just "avians"? Since they don't fly, I put them in the 'animal' category. I watched March of the Penguins and was mesmerized by what they go through each year. I laughed, I cried, plus everything in-between. So, naturally, when Farce of the Penguins came out, I HAD to see it. I laughed myself silly! SUCH an amusing movie! It's totally amazing to me how they added words to these penguins. They matched up what they were "saying" to their movements very well. As for animated animal movies, I really couldn't say which is my favorite. I adore both Ice Age movies, but Surf's Up is particularly cute. [mentalward]
Oh! I forgot Turner and Hooch! You just had to laugh at the things Hooch got himself into and the way he looked at Turner (Tom Hanks) sometimes was just too much! lol I cried when Hooch got shot and killed in the line of duty, but there was little "Hooch, Jr." at the very end of the movie who made me smile again. [mentalward]

I enjoy all animal movies but having 3 chihuahuas I loved Beverly Hills Chihuahua. [whiteheather39]

Hey Amie! I could never just choose one! I love too many! I always was a Lassie fan from when I was a little kid! I grew up watching Lassie on tv (in black and white no less)! I loved Beverly Hills Chihuahua and watched twice so far! And Free Willy made me cry so much! I haven't see Air Bud, but I know I would love it too! I loved 101 Dalmations and even bought the video! I am such a sucker for anything that has to do with animals! I can't help it! So don't ask me to pick! It doesn't matter to me if there are one or a million stars in the movie I will love each and every one of them the same! [Opal26]

I just finish the other night watching the movie "Hotel for Dogs" I loved it, there's so many dogs in the cast. I also loved the movie 101 Dalmatians, I also have a vcd of Free Willy, Garfield, Home Away From Home. [Ronina]

Eight below was a good movie..I liked Madagascar and Happy feet. There is so many movies with animals in them. I also liked Homeward bound. [mtdewgurl74]
Wow, a hundred times?!? blink LOL I haven't watched it that many times, though I have watched it more than once! lol LOL My husband also likes it as well. happy [sacmom]

I guess my favorite animal movie would have to be Paulie (1998). It is a very touching story about a bird (a Blue Crown Conure to be more precise) that has learned how to communicate to humans through speech. That may sound silly, but it really is a well made movie. Every time I watch it I tend to cry, as well as laugh. If you haven't seen it you may just want to rent it, if you like a movie that touches the heart, that is. happy [sacmom]
Paulie was a really great movie, I forgot about that one too! As I read people's lists I am finding myself saying "Oh ya I forgot all about that movie!" lol [PurpleTeddyBear]

Milo and Otis is my favorite. I also like Snow Dogs. My Dog Skip was good too but I cried like a nanshee at the ending. Then there is Homeward Bound; I think there are two or three of those. [muscles4me]

Do animated animal movies count? If so, some of my all-time favourites would have to be The Lion King, Dumbo and Nemo. Lassie is awesome too. I know Black Beauty was not a movie but I used to really enjoy watching that too when I was younger. [UK_Shree]
Well in that case Ice Age (the first one), Finding Nemo, and The Lion King are my list of favorites too. happy [sacmom]

I know that I liked the movie Beverly Hills Chihuahua. I used to watch Free Willy all the time, as I felt that it was a nice movie. Other then that I can't say I can really think of any other movie, other then lassie, and air bud which I am not sure I've seen. There is the movie about a dog's hotel, "hotel for dogs" that's it... and then there has been "all dogs go to heaven" "cats and dogs" "garfield" etc. These types of movies are usually inspirational, and great fun to watch. [SomeCowgirl]
I haven't seen the movie myself in a long time but I think we have it in our room. [SomeCowgirl]

mine is the classic ole yeller and all the benji series with chevy chase. [winterose]

yaaaa all animals movies are veeerry veery wonderful and awesome..... i always like this types of animal movies like: 1)airbuddy(all dogs are very cute ha ha ha) 2)cats and dogs 3)stuart little 4)the lion king (great movie ever) [ankitnavgwal01]

The Incredible Journey is my favorite animal movie. [camomom]

I would have to say madagascar is my favorite animal movie. It's pretty funny and sweet to me. Especially with the hippo and the giraffe. [lala501]
Have you seen the sequel, Madagascar 2? I've yet to see either, but I heard it was funny. [AmbiePam]

There is a ton of animal based movies I have enjoyed. But if I had to narrow it down I would say the top 2 were Old Yeller and Lassie. Old Yeller makes me cry to this day! [marcialoyd]

I don't really have one, but my hubby will watch OLD YELLER, every day if I could find it, we had it back home, but lost it in the storm. He loves shows like that. [bdugas]

Hi AmbiePam....I have read this topic a few times and tought about it to. And finally I have come to the conclusion of the movie about the boy and the wale willy. It has a god story behind, and a nice touch of the nature. Every time I see this movie I get tears in my eyes for the happy ending and since there is a serie movies about Willy, and all of them are great. I even bought them and see them from time to time... [anetteh]
Free Willy...that was a good movie. [AmbiePam]

I have always really enjoyed Disney movies so I would have to say The Lion King, 101 Dalmations, Dumbo, Lady & The Tramp, Finding Nemo, Happy Feet, and Ice Age. Angelina and I have seen Beverly Hills Chihuahua and that was a good movie too! We szaw it when we went to go see my parents in Arizona in March! [PurpleTeddyBear]

My favorite animal film I saw when I was a child .it was a documentary I think called Black Beauty. This film was about a black rhino and a family helping her.I saw it at my neighborhood library. [sarahruthbeth22]
The problem is I think it was called Black Beauty and I don't know if it had a star in it so I can't find out if it is on DVD or not. [sarahruthbeth22]
