Well, im sitting here thinking I really should see whats going on although I usually get to upset watching news. I turn it on and find out Patrick Swayze died today.cry what a sweet lovely man he was. You just wonder why the good die sometimes and some of the bad guys live what seems like forever. Stars seem to be dropping like flies this yearshocked then next thing I hear is, that lovely sweet girl that was missing at college that was to be married Sunday was found murdered.sad so im saying to myself now, why did I watch the news? its terrible. sometimes i go days and dont watch. How do you feel about these news items? do you dread watching the news as much as I do?

I can add up to that, "a public school teacher died of sleep apnea?" he's still 30 and so young to die. he's my daughter's class adviser, a 6th grader. but the reason of his death is yet to be confirmed. some said it's heart attack, or because of nightmare. medical results said are to be read by doctors in the capital and it could be 3 days to a week before it gets confirmed. too sad, that if it's sleep apnea, we'll be more worried now with our son's sleeping problem. sad [neildc]
that's what the doctors said, he could have sleep apnea. but once we have the money, we'll send him to the doctors again to schedule a sleep test. sad [neildc]
I gave up on watching the news back in 2000. I got so tired of the news being so bad and depressing. Not only is it the factor of hearing about public figures dieing, but also the murders, rapes, thefts, fires, and so much more. I found that I was getting so depressed that I wasn't able to function well. I still get some news, but not the inundation that I had previously when my Mom would watch the news every day and night. I keep hoping that the newscasters will have a corner for "GOOD" news so everything isn't so dreary! But, apparently bad news sells... [Loverbear]
yes on some days when we are already on the verge of depression its just best not to watch. [bunnybon7]
lol i watch tv news once in the morning and later before going to bed at about 10pm, of course there are good as well as bad news, i never feel so much worried though. See our life is short we have to face karma one day or other Thanks for this nice post.happy keep sharing, happy posting, cheersrasp ARUN [arun2009]
thanks for your nice response. i can see it doesnt bother you so much and thats good [bunnybon7]
It was sad that Swayze died. I was never a big fan but I still think he gave a lot to so many people through his movies and his personal life. I suppose I get a bit switched off to the bad news that I see and hear because it's not something that you'll have happen to you in real life. The odds are that you'll never have anything happen to you that will make the mainstream news, so there's no use worrying about it too much, but it's always good to be aware of what's going on. My nan gets so worried about everybody being out on the roads because all she hears about is accidents. I try to tell her that people were probably 3 times more likely to be involved in a serious accident 40 years ago, but there's much more cars on the road these days. [DiamondDogs]
well thats true. but still i cringe myself when i hear a siren and one of mine are out on the roadsad [bunnybon7]
Most news are sad.But if not for the new we will not know what is happening around us locally and world widely. We got no choice not to watch the news even we do hate heartbreaking events . [Faye88]
well i do choose tho some days to just not tune in. [bunnybon7]
Yes my friend. Sometimes I hate watching the news. There are also times when I have to take a break from the bad news. I may go a week without watching it. Sometimes I just can't take any more bad news. [JenInTN]
yep. exactly how i feel. [bunnybon7]
I feel as u do Bon, all u see is bad news & the saddest things ever, I do watch the news , i do like to know what is going on but most of the time it's bad. I know there has to be some good things happening , i guess they just don't talk about them. Have a great day. [ANTIQUELADY]
yes once in a great while they will report good news. [bunnybon7]
I have mentioned to people how the celerbity are dropping like flies. Very strange. What is up with that? For at least since Katrina the weather everywhere is all wacky. It sure looks like the end times discribed in the Bible to me. [jdyrj777]
Just all the world events going on. [jdyrj777]
Hi ya bunnybon7 This really was sad news! My alarm clock went off this morning and the very first thing I heard was 'The Holywood star, Patrick Swayze has died'. I wasn't shocked because I knew he wasn't well but I still felt very sad that he had lost his battle against cancer and he was such a fighter. I always have the radio on so I catch short bulletins throughout the day because I do feel it is important to know what is going on in the world and just as important for my kids to have a little understanding too. I never watch the news on the tv though, it is just terrible sometimes. When my brother was out in Northern Ireland with the army when he was 17 I couldn't bare to listen to the news at all for fear I would hear something I didn't want to hear. I was only 16 at the time and was scared at the thought of losing my brother. [Humbug25]
yes that would be a terrible way to hear of someones death. [bunnybon7]
I don't watch the news as much as I used to because they are so selective in their coverage. We don't see the truth, just what they want us to see. They want us demoralized and hopeless so they don't give us anything beyond the depressing. The ACORN scandal is barely covered on the major networks, neither is anything that could be negative to the current administration. It's better for my mood and outlook if I avoid the news! I still try to get some truth every day, though. I'm sorry to lose Swayze. I remember watching his dad on Wild Kingdom when I was a child, I think that was his dad. Patrick was very talented and a wonderful person from what I hear. [dragon54u]
oh i didnt know that was his dad. yes everyone that knew him said he was just as nice as he was good looking and i thought he was sooooo! good looking.wub [bunnybon7]
Hi bunnybon7 I never read newspapers and avoid watching the news, all gloom and doom but you cannot help hearing about Patrick swayze death and alos just heard this morning the our world famous TV chef Keith Floyd has died too it is so very sad and you are right all these celebrities good ones are all dropping down like flies.Sad. Tamara [tamarafireheart]
i really cant believe how many have died in just these few months. yes everyone dies like son has pointed out to me but i've never seen it happen with so many in such a short span of time!! [bunnybon7]
I was heart broken with both news stories. That Yale student had so much talent and such a promising career ahead of her, what a horrible & tragic ending. And then Patrick Swayze's death was like losing a relative. He had so much strength and dignity in his life and in fighting his battle. My mother always thought he was the sexiest man in Hollywood, she at least will be happy that he is now on her side of the rainbow. Larry King is doing a rememberance show tonight, I imagine Barbara Walters will have one too. [catdla1]
he was such a beautiful mansad inside and out i hear. now they caught the one killed that girl also. cry [bunnybon7]
Its a such sad news to hear that Patrick Swayze has passed away. For those who don't know this guy, he was the star of ghost which co starred Demi Moore. Although this movie went out way back when I was still in elementary I still remember this movie. I think 90% of the items found on the news are bad news. Even though I don't enjoy watching bad news it is still important to be up to date in all the events happening around us, whether it be bad or good. [elmasahe]
oh he had so many good movies and it was just a joy to watch this man. [bunnybon7]
I don't always watch the news and this was a day that I did not. I knew that Patrick Swayze was sick but this is the first I've heard of his passing. That's too bad. He was a very talented actor and musician. [sid556]
and a very nice, good looking man. [bunnybon7]
Hello! My fiance went online and told me of the news on his passing and I was sad. He faught to live and wanted to and never gave up. He even worked on a sitcom show I heard . He was a true sweet man who was not in the light that often he was married to the love of his life for over 30 years happy That is what I am thinking about his family . I will always remember him from dirty dancing and being that 8 year old kid dancing all over the house and all over the sofa. That truly is a cult classic movie and I wonder if he minded. Its strange because on my myspace page I just had up she is like the wind and he sang that. On to the news it shocks me really and not too often do I watch it , but I know what is going on because my fiance tells me . Last week there was a little boy who wondered out of his house and fell down a septic tank... I didnt know what to make with that sad [metschica25]
my point exactly. sometimes we just dont want to hear it even when its true. news sucks these dayssad [bunnybon7]
I know what this is like. It happened to me during 9/11 when people in my office had relatives in New York and everyone was listening to the radio or watching TV with hearts in a beat. Its not a pleasant experience watching TV or listening to the radio and hearing about someone you love dying. I had the same experience with the death of Paul Newman. I know what its like. Sympathy. [Bluepatch]
what did paul die of? see i didnt even knowsad i had such a crush on the guy when i was a girl. [bunnybon7]
It's always doom and gloom isn't it, you just can't see to escape it, that is why I also try to avoid reading newspapers and watching the news, trouble is good news doesn't sell, imagine having a newspaper full of happiness, it wouldn't sell. Same with news reports on the television, how many times have you tuned in to the news to find good news stories? No, people don't want to watch it. Sad to say, we thrive on heart wrenching stories and negativity because it comes too often. I hardly ever watch the news for these reasons, I still find out through Mylot ironically but I have enough problems in my own life without adding to them. [wolfie34]
yes mylot is usually a good source for most news whether you want it or notlol [bunnybon7]
I just found out here in mylot. That Patrick Swayze died today. This is really horrible OMG.My heart goes out to his wife, and family. [leahsmom]
sad my heart goes out to all of us also. we lost a great handsome actor. [bunnybon7]
We have flare ups of political violence in ghetto areas and sometimes I do not watch our local news for several months. I hate it when the elections start coming the place goes crazy. I did watch the news on the real sweet lady and feel so sorry for her. Patrick Swayze was one of my favourite stars. May they both rest in peace. [cynthiann]
i hope they will rest in peace also. it helps that swayze was obviously religious and the Le girl is getting justice now that they found her killer. [bunnybon7]
yes, why do the good die and young too. He was something. I hope his wife is with loved ones and doing okay. She has been so strong and was able to be with him and know the end was coming. Sad, but luckier than some. [celticeagle]
But you didn't go at the same time. You are met still to do something on this Earth. Make him proud! [celticeagle]
hi bunnybon7 I have quit reading the paper as my roomie always reads me all the headlines and most are mind numbing and heart breaking. I sometimes check on the net but go for a long time without doing much as this horrid economy has broken my heart once so no more, I am mendingt to be happy day by day and hope to God myson get a job. [Hatley]
i really can see your point Hatley. i sure hope he gets a job soon also. thats another sad thing about news. they really never say things ARE better. just that they are getting better?thumbdown [bunnybon7]
Most times i came or called home, my mother would tell me that some neighours died of disease, all kinds of cancer. I was so upset to hear the news. They were all nice people. i am afraid that some day some people will tell me that my parents have the problems. I call home as often as possibly, hoping to seez every chance to talk to them. [looweitao]
yes its especially bad when its someone close and you are afraid of hearing it on the news. [bunnybon7]
I used to have to watch the news every night since it was part of my job as a local news writer and editor. I tried to publish a fairly even number of good and bad news stories, but it was tough when most of my sources tended to focus on the latest robbery or death. Since I was laid off last October, I've rarely watched a newscast unless I hear about an interesting story from friends or one pops up on my list of Twitter followers (which is rare.) [jtr115]
yes i think that would be a depressing job [bunnybon7]
Can't really say I feel the same way. The news services are just doing their service and one should be thankful to find about these sad news right on time rather than several years later. Death is a very sad thing, but it's undeniably a part of life too... [Eisenherz]
But what Oprah does is entertainment (is it though?). As for a news service you can't wait anything else than what it's been for decades before your Oprah got noticed in some cheesy movie. Would be pointless if news also became entertainment...what kind of world would we be living in then.. [Eisenherz]
We must be realistic. The world if full of news. I only hope we hear more good news than bad news. Then there is no news which is good news. So, in the case of Swayze, it is as sad as the going away of Michal Jackson, Farah or even as long ago as Marilyn Monroe. We shudder at the murder of Sharon Tate at the hands of the Manson gang and cry in tears when we hear of the plane deaths of Aliya and John Denver. Life is like thta. We have to anticipate these tragedies. [jonjee0203]
sad oh i know but just this year alone its unbelievable the stars that have died in just one yearshocked almost makes you afraid for whos next. [bunnybon7]
Stop watching news. But if you close your eyes will every thing be dark? Bad or good you can't stop anything. Take every thing easy.Accept the rule of nature. [bhanusb]
sometimes i just stop for a few days, cant help it. [bunnybon7]
Hello my friend shocked This is really sad, I have been online all day and this is the first I heard of this, me and my mother was talking about him last week I thought he was doing well, wow I have to read what happened I don't understand how I did not know this, thank you for this discussion guess I would have found out eventually but gosh, thanks again. [kitty42]
Hello my friend happy Yes this is really sad, I forgot you were the one who made me aware of this, its really sad, I always thought he was going to beat this sad him like many others will be remembered forever. Thanks again. [kitty42]
I am a major Swayze fan and was so hopeful that he would recover. I lost my grandfather to pancreatic cancer last year so I know how horrible it is. I quit watching the news and turn off the radio when news comes on. I have even asked all my family to quit telling me the news unless it is something good. I have nine family members in the military and just cannot watch it anymore. I stressed myself so bad when I had all nine deployed at the same time. [growingupthree]
It is really hard because then you are a nervous wreck waiting for more news. I rarely turn the t.v. on unless it is for the kids. The only ones deployed now are my husband and one of my brothers. Two of my cousins will be leaving when they are coming back. I don't see how my parents and in-laws can watch it. I guess maybe they are just more accustomed to it. I completely understand and respect anyone that can not watch the news. [growingupthree]
I watch the news twice a day 7 days a week. Yes some of the news is very depressing but they do have some good news. While I am very sad when I heard about someone being murdered or missing without the news we would not know what was going on around us and if someone knows about these terrible things that has happen hopeful by the news reporting it they will call and inform the police. I have seen were people setup events to earn money to give to different charities. You can also see the results of school sports if you have children or friends in shcool. I also like to know what the weather will be the next day. [happy6162]
yes at times the weather is good to know but even they mess that up a lot. especially here where they've been predicting rain for several days and still none. rolleyes whats that about?lol or it ends up pouring on one end of phoenix, but not a drop at the other. this must be a very hard area for weather predictionsad [bunnybon7]
I guess news channels like to show bad news. They concentrate on the bad news more than the good events. If a celebrity does a small deed then it becomes headline news. I prefer watching quality news channels. [VANILLAREY]
well my problem is, i usually watch CNN so maybe thats where i go wrong. i hear news from all over the world. guess i should just watch local. it might help. [bunnybon7]
Yeah, it can be depressing watching the news, I was upset about hearing Patrick Swayze too, I really liked him alot, don't know how many times I've watched his movies. I usually watch the news for my local weather, the rest of it is so depressing sometimes. [walijo2008]
yes he was a lovely man. its been pointed out to me that i should probably just watch local news sometimes. [bunnybon7]
Well, Patrick Swayze did fight for a while and he never did stop smoking. But my niece died of cancer at age three so cancer doesn't care who you are or how old. As far as the news I turn it on to see what is going on and I hear go to our site something .com under links. I'm like what. Ok somebody 500 miles away was killed can you tell me what happened in my city. So I get the weather and turn on the radio. You have a good day. I know I have been gone a while. I'n back. Your friend onlydia [onlydia]
welcome back friend. glad to see you. hope you've been ok. i know thats so terrible 3 yrs is wayyyy to youngcry [bunnybon7]
Yeah, Patrick Swayze was one of the good guys. Not that I pretend to know him like a lot of people do (why DO people act like they know celebrities personally?) He always came across to me as a genuine and sincere good person. I'm sure he will rest in peace. [MsTickle]
lol i dont know why people do that. i think they watch them and get so wrapped up in them they feel they know them. thanks, Bonrolleyes [bunnybon7]
I agree bunnybon, it seems more bad has been going on than good which has me thinking quite a bit about the end of time being near and I'm wondering how near is it because God is taking home a lot of good people and leaving the bad and might be after the rest of us sooner than we think. All I hope for is that He takes my animals first so they won't be homeless when I leave this world. But yes, the news does show more of the morbid side of things rather than the good things and I haven't watched it as much as I used to. I used to watch it to get the updates on what's going on in my area and world but now it's really gotten too depressing. [CatsandDogs]
yes thats why i used to watch. now im thinking, is it just me or are things getting worse every where?sad [bunnybon7]
Well, it was Sad to hear that Patrick Swayze died. It was truly something everyone knew he had Cancer but never thought he would die. Yes, a lot of good Stars are dying this yr. and it just keeps on continuing the importance of enjoying life while taking it one day at a time. And it was Sad about that girl being murdered that was supposed to be married. Really makes you wonder how people can get like this for sure. [KrauseHome]
im glad they found her crazy killer. guess we will never know why since they say he wont tell. [bunnybon7]
hiya Bon I watch the news every day, it can be very upsetting when we hear of death and war, political views that we're opposed to and very little of the good news. I would feel lost not watching it though, I still like to hear what's going on. Local news is good to watch too, incase there's anything that we are more closely connected to. Just think.... if you failed to turn on the news and and you missed the alien invasion?! whistlelol Alice happy [Aliceinwebland]
I guess if the attempted suicides accomplished their task then that would be tragic! but if it happened again hopefully most people would go out and party like they've never partied before w00t [Aliceinwebland]
